Lauren I also got vouchers for Christmas including Primark ones but used them back in January on baby things ?? Only thing I heard about actual baby clothes from Primark is that they tend to shrink a little in the wash apparently (think I read that somewhere on mumsnet) so I stuck to socks, hats, muslins etc. The little socks I got from there are gorgeous! Beige/nude/sand colours and look more expensive than they actually were. Although I take it your going for yourself as you mentioned hospital bag things. Me and my mum are going to take a trip into town next week hopefully, and I'll be nipping in there too for hospital bag things Grin.
Yes my movements have been more moving around now rather than kicks. Apart from sometimes when I get into bed at night and lay on my left side, I get like 'pinching' feelings? It's hard to explain!

Also, what's the centile thing all about?! Have I missed that on my notes? I only ever really look at what the midwife had written and then the measurement e.g. 31 weeks, and my blood pressure.

Oh daholster you're not having a very nice time at the minute are you? There's not too long to go now so hopefully baby hangs on in there for a little longer!

PenguinPoser · 18/02/2015 21:08

My mw hasn't been plotting my measurements on a chart so far, but when I had a growth scan last week baby was plotted on the 50th centile which seems ok. I imagine plotting centiles by bump measurement isn't all that accurate so wouldn't worry about it if mw isn't worried!

My movements are also less like proper kicks (well less often) but loads of baby stretching legs and sticking feet and bum out. Glad this seems to be the trend. Baby was going absolutely crazy this afternoon (might have been something to do with the chocolate brownie I had eaten Grin)

daholster hope you're ok I hate weird feelings like that.

daholster · 18/02/2015 21:13

And just had a really painful contraction!!! And it lasted so long I actually checked the time in case there was another one! Shock

Lauren82000 · 18/02/2015 21:31

Eek Daholster keep an eye on it. I'd say if you get a few more ring for advice or if you still feel weird tomorrow morning. I'd say if your not settled something maybe moving along, I felt like that when I was induced. Confused How very scary for you. Big breaths and try not to worry too much if it's just the one.

I've been having BH all evening but I think that's because of doing the loft this afternoon. ( even if my mum did all the lifting)

FiRaffe · 18/02/2015 21:34

Oh daholster, I hope all is okay.

I feel so drained at the moment. I wonder how the next 10+ weeks will go!

BananaToast · 18/02/2015 21:38

Eek hope everything is ok daholster.

Fi I also feel pretty drained this week. Got a friends wedding this Saturday and I'm going to be on my feet loads in uncomfortable shoes. Wish I could wear my uggs! The most comfy warm shoes and zero effort to get on and off.

daholster · 18/02/2015 21:39

Gone back to Braxton hicks now ie not painful just take my breath. Loads of pressure down there though. I've probably just overdone it and he is moving into new positions or something, had lots of uncomfortable wriggling earlier.

It's not often a pain makes me make an involuntary noise though, was a little alarming!

Hidingthefear · 18/02/2015 21:39

Yeah your right smogs dad's get social action at work anyway. We're the first of our friends to marry and be pregnant but as we went to school together we have the same circle of buy/girl friends which makes socialising easier!

firaffe no correlation at all between your births and your baby's. You might find old wives tales or coincidence that suggest otherwise but scientifically there is no correlation. I was about 1 week early I think and DH was 12 weeks early. Mothers health and lifestyle is more likely to play a part but it's not proven. E.g smoking can increase prem baby but then there are still smoking mothers that go full term.

Awww skyra that room looks lovely!, and you reminded me I need to buy an exercise ball!

I've got a tub and Milton tablets for sterilising, I'm landing to bf anyway but figured ill use it for the breaSt pump and bottles if I get into using them further down the line. They can stay in the water for 24 hours so you don't have to plan ahead or be super organised. Like brum said, it's the future ;)

Hidingthefear · 18/02/2015 22:02

Skyra was it you that asked for photos? Here's our nursery. I know what you mean about Google not always being very inspiring.

Lauren what a tough time :( you OH probably does want you there but maybe he's trying to not make it a big deal financially or emotionally for you?

Phew glad to hear it's just BH daholster
I was 2 pages behind I think when I posted lol, can't keep up haha.

Just had our second hypnobirth session so I'm all chilled out now. Gonna have to drop the dog at my aunties next week though coz she was a pest and stopped us relaxing fully. DH's homework for the week is giving me light massage and reading scripts to me and bump :)

So sorry to hear your news Lauren82000 and not at all selfish to go to the funeral. Dd will be spoilt rotten with her nannies and will forget you were away as soon as you're back.
Because you have had a previous baby your growth chart will be based on dd's size so may be 90th centile for you not in general iyswim.

Ds1 was like that daholster, he got easier to be at home with as he got older and now never wants to go out! Hope your back improves quickly!

Sounds like your dh needs a kick up the bum with you cooking several different meals, the least he can do is tidy the kitchen/empty dishwasher and you were not unreasonable to be cross TheBooMonster, perhaps a little unreasonable to stop him leaving the house until he'd done it though Confused. They are usually very reluctant to sterilise while doing a cs unless there is a medical reason, especially when you only have two children from what I know of friends asking.

If I remember correctly mine raced through 1's and 2's and stayed in 3's for a few months then they were in 4's until 18months ish Wineandchoccy but will depend a lot on the size of your baby, how fast they grow and the fit. I found generally mine were heavier than the stated weights when they were too big for nappies.

Room temp milk RL20 Smile
Centile is what percentage of the population your baby falls into so a baby/bump measuring on the 50th centile is average as its bigger than 50% of babies and smaller than 50% (or technically 49%, I guess). Once born your baby's size will be plotted every time they're weighed, generally if they follow a centile line mw and hv are happy but if your baby is very small or very large they can give you a bit of hassle.

My friends mum didn't go full term with her 4 children FiRaffe and nor did she. I was overdue but my brother wasn't and both mine were induced at 13 days over so no idea!

I spent most of the last two weeks of both my previous pregnancies sitting on my ball skyra13, I loved it. Also laboured a lot on it! Lovely nursery.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you mswibble!

Love your cot Hidingthefear!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 18/02/2015 22:33

oh dear, I feel so underprepared... still haven't really packed hospital bag for me and baby, the boys' need packed bags to go to their step-grandparents' and I haven't done that either. The cot is still in it's box, as is the buggy...

I need to get my backside in gear before I get any more immobile!

Lauren, the cardi looks gorgeous.
I need to make something for this baby, I make at least one thing for all family babies and I haven't yet for this one. Eldest I sewed some little shoes, youngest I finished the blanket I started knitting at 7 months pregnant with eldest...

Might have to make some really simple booties or something, it's only fair for me to make for this one too.

TheBooMonster · 18/02/2015 22:43

cinnamon he was trying to leave the house half an hour early to get out of doing it, so I didn't make him late for actual work... Hmm, shall speak to the consultant tomorrow and see what he says about the spaying.

skyra13 · 18/02/2015 23:19

Hidingthefear your nursery looks lovely :) nice to see other peoples ideas, planning on having crib in our room for a while but if husband snoring keeps me and baby awake we will move into her room lol
cinnamon I did brave my ball for a few hours in the end :)
Anyone els want to share nursery pics please put then up Grin

daholster · 19/02/2015 06:52

Omg. How can a baby moving hurt so much?! A varied nights sleep, ok til 4am, then don't know if it was dd squeaking or ds lurching and rolling making me flinch that woke me! I wonder whether the colitis flaring in my stump is making movements so painful at the bottom. Maybe I'll start stuffing some steroid in and see if it feels better. I want it under control in time for pushing anyway!

2 long days on the way, midnight tonight then midnight or overnight again tomorrow after a full day. My own fault. Just hoping for some easy bits Smile

Have a good day all!

32+2

Hidingthefear · 19/02/2015 07:03

Thanks cinnamon we got all furniture from mammas and pappas and it's good stuff.
We can't fit a cot in our room so we've got the chicco next 2 me crib thing. Still in the box though haha
pretty tired this morning coz me and DH ended up nattering in bed until midnight. Work have offered him another pay rise at the end of march and whilst the extra money would be fantastic it doesn't change how much he hates his job. He's agreed that he should try and hold off until end of April before getting a new job so that he gets some time with baby but he's got a phone interview tomorrow and I know if he ends in being offered a job he'll take it anyway. Best get saving more money to cover us if he does leave.
best get up for work myself! hope you all have a hood day xx

TheBooMonster · 19/02/2015 07:19

Inner hyperchondriac is in full swing today. Woke up on my front this morning. Have bad feeling about this mornings scan. Wondering if I should take hospital bag just in case...

AnniaFausta · 19/02/2015 07:25

Lauren, belatedly, I'm very sorry for your loss, and also for all the logistical trouble you're having to cope with at the moment. I hope it all gets sorted out so you can get to the funeral to pay your respects Flowers

Had a rotten night's sleep the night before last, but thankfully did better last night. Also had my first baby-related vivid dream last night - nothing gory or particularly weird, just gave birth without noticing how precisely it happened, discovered gender, put on first nappy, and then I think woke up needing the loo.

RL20, I'm not getting anything in my notes about centiles either - I think around here they basically assume that any measurement is pretty hypothetical until you've got an actual baby in front of you. I guess it's easier if you're being sent for growth scans, which I'm not.

daholster, glad to hear things went back to BHs and that they stayed that way. Good luck on your shift!

We'll be having the decorator in at the weekend to start on the nursery and then move on to the spare room - we still haven't decided on what colour carpet we want in there (other than 'something that won't stain'), but it should be easier once we've got some colour on the walls. Then we'll need to get a cot and a nursing chair, but we know which ones we want, so it'll just be a matter of ordering them. As I think I've said before, if that all arrives a bit after baby does, it's far from being the end of the world as they'll be in with us for the first few months. DH is quite keen on keeping the nursery as adaptable as possible, so that as it becomes clear what tastes our toddler has, we can respond to them without having to completely redecorate - which is fine with me! (Although that does remind me that we wanted to look for a nice rug, but that's probably not something I should start doing right now...)

FiRaffe · 19/02/2015 08:14

Annia - we went with wooden floor for the not staining reason. Having been trying to find a nice machine washable rug and that's where i've really struggled. Can get nice rugs, just not clean them!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/02/2015 08:21

Hope all goes well TheBooMonster! Try to be positive! Totally Shock at you oh being so lazy about your kitchen that he'd rather leave half an hour early for work!!! I'd probably have locked the door and hid the keys at that point!

TinyTear · 19/02/2015 08:39

Firaffe for the nursery we went with IKEA rugs, cheap and cheerful and (allegedly) washable, but fortunately haven't had to try it out...

Feeling a great sense of achievement this morning, after the loft tidy yesterday I managed to get to my books and have put them on the empty bookcase. They look great. Smile

It's only taken us 5 years but we finally have a home with cozy rooms. Still need to put the pictures up but it's getting there.

Wineandchoccy · 19/02/2015 09:48

Just a word of warning about rugs on wooden or laminate floors please make sure you can't trip over them or that you will slide on it.
My brother was carrying my 4 week nephew into the babies room stood on the rug which was on a laminate floor and him and the baby slid and fell. Baby was fine but my brother fractured his arm so he was in plaster for 6 weeks.
You can buy sticky things to stick the rug to the floor.

We had our 3rd antenatal class last night it was really good last night, the 1st babies have been born in the group, Twins born at 31weeks, 2lb each.
We covered safer sleeping and SIDS guidelines, hospital bags, bathing baby, finances, baby classes in the area and interacting with your newborn. Class ran over by 40 mins so we had tea late which resulted in horrendous heartburn.

RL20 · 19/02/2015 09:58

Morning everyone.

Wow good luck Boo! Hey if you feel like you want to take your hospital bag, it would do more good than harm so why not. Hopefully you won't need it though and everything goes as it should.

Oh gosh Wine, thankfully baby was ok! (Even if your poor brother fractured his arm Confused) Scary times. Yes you can get those rug grippers, we bought some a few weeks ago from B&M for a rug that keeps moving on top of our carpet believe or not. Anyway we bought the wrong ones as they are made for laminate/wooden/tiled floors etc. basically everything except carpet, lol. So we gave up with the rug.
I'm looking forward to starting antenatal classes! Even if I will be going on my own. I'll make sure I take a pad and pen with me so my partner can suck all the information in too Grin
Were the twins ok?

I'm missing out again with seeing these pictures ladies! I don't know why they haven't set that function up on the app?!

No nursery for us I'm afraid (if anyone can remember, I was really peed off a while ago that we wouldn't be moving house before baby is here, because unrealistically that's what I thought we would be doing).
Well I'm over that now anyway as there's just not enough time and with our finances it just makes sense to stay where we are for a bit.
My partner has a daughter who comes to stay with us and she has her own bedroom (which is bright pink, pink carpets etc) so baby will be next to my side of the bed, as there is plenty of room. He's got a Moses basket for the first few months anyway so not too much room needed.

My partner left for work this morning around 5am and said before he left
"Oh no we forgot to do a pack up didn't we." Without giving me much time to reply as he was in a rush. It made me feel so guilty as if I was sending a child to school without a packed lunch ?? I make him a pack up every night for the next day and last night I completely forgot? It just didn't even enter my mind. I couldn't get back to sleep so ended up ringing him at about 5.30am to check he had money/his bank card with him so he was able to get something to eat! Luckily he did otherwise I would of felt even worse!

TinyTear · 19/02/2015 10:00

we have rugs on carpet in the bedroom...

in the living room on laminate we actually have foam mats we bought when DD started walking and they are the best thing ever, saved many a head bump! (we got large Tesco ones, not the fancy ones with letters and numbers which can get lost and broken a bit...)
