How many has your sister had Charlee LOL !

staceym11 · 24/10/2006 14:52

well im still here and no baby.

ended up in labour ward last night with contractions 3-4 mins apart, they did a trace and internal and basically told me that these arent real contractions as was only 1cm and ecg machine wasnt registering contractions and to go back when im 'really' in labour......well what a thing to say to a severly hormonal woman, i was crying all the way home, partly coz i felt like such a time waster, and partly coz id convinced myself i was gunna get to meet my baby, and partly because im completely useless and left my v-support pillow there and cant afford another one!!!

as you can see im not a happy bunny, oh and still getting my 'fake' contractions every 3-4 mins apart, knowing that they aren't 'real' pains!!!!

aaarrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

oh but i did get one bit of useful information, the crevix moves down towards the front of the vagina before it starts to dilate, so you should be able to at least feel for yourself if the cervix has moved down so you know you'r getting there (if thats not too much of a gross thought!) right need to lay down, am hurting!

NatalieJane · 24/10/2006 15:02

Stacey, you poor love, I know exactly how you feel about the 'fake' pain, this is exactly what I have been having since Friday before last, and I am sorry to say that it doesn't seem to get any better from here on in Stace I said yesterday, it would be slightly better if I thought that all of these contractions were actually doing something down there, but they just aren't. I have actually stopped counting and timing them now, we were living on a knife edge, putting off dinner until they calmed down a bit, or not starting to watch a film or something just incase they didn't stop this time, it was getting ridiculous, now like I said I have stopped timing and counting and we are just playing it by ear, it is all we can do realy. The consultant said she wanted me to go straight to the hospital if they became regular, but they become regular every night, for childcare reasons I can't get to the hospital to give birth as a one off, let alone every night!! I think it is pretty bad of them to just leave us to it TBH, I don't know exactly what I would like them to do, but the total lack of support or concern just makes it all seem worse.

Debz99 · 24/10/2006 15:14

Oh Stacey I was getting so excited for you too, hope it doesn't go on for too long, When are you actually due?

pupuce · 24/10/2006 15:18

That's correct Stacey... if you sit on the loo and put your finger in ... if you can easily reach your cervix that's good (means it's anterior)... if you can't reach it then you are probably quite far off.
What you can say to yourself in a positive way is that this false contractions are helping your endorphins.... which are hormones you will need loads of in labou

Debz99 · 24/10/2006 15:20

Am I naive ... what does ones cervix feel like?

Charleesunnysunsun · 24/10/2006 15:33

Lol Debz was about to ask the same thing, am afraind to admit i am not in touch with one's body as i possibly should be and have no clue as to what my cervix feels like

Stacey honey that's crap isn't it. I had the same thing with DS they would come to the ward and say 'were inducing you today' then they wouldn't have space or time so it would get put off and everytime i would end up in tears having worked my hopes up at the pain finally being over and meeting ds. I'm lucky that touch wood they have always been very sympathetic to me and not made me feel crap wasting time or anything.
I hope things perk up for you soon though hun, you havent long to go now before you will meet your LO one way or another.

Oh and about the cervix thing with ds i was examined on the tuesday and had a very 'anti labour' cervix it was showing no where near the right length size ect but was induced the next day sucessfully first time so i think even if you do all feel yours and van't feel a thing i don't think it means your not close as it can all move very quickly.

I do agree with NJ about not watching my contractions now, it's like a watched pot it never boils! I don't want to get excited about every pain incase i go a full 40 weeks or longer so i get on with my daily life and should i have to stop something to go in to labour ward then so be it but im not hanging around waiting (easier said then donei know) it just get's boring! In fact DP has set up a date at the cinema next week to see Saw3 which i have been waiting to see so im going!

Debz99 · 24/10/2006 15:38

That was the words I was looking for Charlee but couldn't think LOL ! I'm def not in touch with my body and how it should feel etc etc !!!!

schmizaj · 24/10/2006 15:57

Hang in there Stacey, you were not time wasting and I'd definitely cry if I left my preg pillow in hospital!!

NJ - it was babchannelshop.com. Called fair trading line and they got me info on company address and sent me template letter to send. So it continues... Not going to have time for this soon!!

staceym11 · 24/10/2006 16:36

its sorta like a round ball (bouncy ball type size id say) with a dip in the middle, sort of like a belly button type thing....well thats what mine feels like! lol

its hard to describe but if you felt it i think you'd probably know!

iv given up timing but i still getting these damn pains and its driving me mad, at least i slept last night which has made me feel a bit better. wish it was all over with so dd can have her mummy back, im such a moody cow that shes been going round all day asking for daddy......she even got onto her tweenies mobile and said 'yeah, please chloes daddy home, thank you byeeeee!'
it breaks my heart that i cant be the mummy shes used to!

hope everyone else is ok and we get some more babies soon!

oh and im acctually due 13th nov, so not for about 3 weeks but i just want my baby now!

oh congrats tinasan, sorry really must have skipped your post in my haste to rant about meanies at hospital.

hope you have a brilliant labour (yeah right)

Charleesunnysunsun · 24/10/2006 16:51

GRRRRRR Hospital just cancled DS's appointment on Friday so now im not going to know about his scan results untill 17th Nov just becuase the Dr has naffed off on holiday

Stacey i know what you mean i feel so sorry for DS because he just want's to play and i physicaly cannot get on the floor and play with him all the time he wants and im so bloody moody, i cry at random times and he just clings to me saying 'poor mummy cry' he doesn't understand bless him.

Thanks for the cervix tip i will ask dp if he would like to check as i don't feel comfortable doing it myself. (you think having a baby i would loose all inhabitions)

Have just chopped up a load of fire wood and am now having contractions again so something else to add to my list of things that set it off after doing some research i think i must have irritable uterus aswell.

NatalieJane · 24/10/2006 17:03

Oh no Charlee could you not lay it on a bit thick? Your heavily pregnant, stress is making you have contractions, you can't possibly have it hanging over you till after the baby is born etc.? Ask her if there is anyway you could speak to the consultant over the phone if he doesn't have time to see you, even if it is just to tell you the results, so you can hopefully have some peace of mind until November 17?

Keep at it Stacey, it will be worth it, DD won't remember any of it in a few weeks so don't worry about that.

Just a thought, out of no where, it is the last weekend of Oct this weekend, are the clocks changing, I haven't heard anything about it?

staceym11 · 24/10/2006 17:21

oh charlee hope yo uget ds's results soon.

well things that set my contracitons off are:

standing up,
sitting upright,
having a full bladder,
emptying my bladder,
sneezing,
coughing,
etc
etc
etc

lol.......isnt labour great!!!!!

NatalieJane · 24/10/2006 17:29

Stacey I also find that if LO has hiccups (about 5-6 times a day sometimes more) that can set the contractions off, and sometimes when the hiccups stop the contractions die down a bit. Also drinking a cold drink can start it off. Being led down on my back, I'm not sure if it actually starts them, but I can feel them a lot more if I lie down. When I get in the bath/shower they start, when I get out of the bath they get worse, getting out of the shower doesn't have any effect. At the weekend DH was drilling so I was holding the hoover arm thing up in the air to catch most of the dust, that started them off, don't know if it was the position or the noise but it did something.

There are so many triggers, which is why I am trying to do as little as possible, at 35 weeks, although I would love to have it all over with, I do realise it is a little bit on the early side, plus if I go before 37 weeks there is no hope of a home birth, so the more I can do to stop the contractions starting in the first place, the less they could carry on to a real labour.

saralou100 · 24/10/2006 17:46

hi guys... in my nesting haste, decided to finish shampooing alll the carpets last night, so got dp to remove all furniture and disconnect everything.. put it all back together this morning and broadband won't connect ended up getting someone round to have a look (he removed lots of pointless wires too) nothing would work.. so phoned ntl and after dp having a long row discovered they owe us nearly £200! happy days! so it's been quite a good day really!

i can't stop cleaning stuff, i'm annoying myself with my innability to sit still!! trouble is i end up in agony at the end of the day and overnight!! gonna go christmas shopping tomoorow for a break from housework!

how exciting another baby on it's way!! goodluck tomorrow tinasan! we shall be waiting excitedly for your news!!

NatalieJane · 24/10/2006 17:57

Sara, try not to over do it, or do any damage, you will need your muscles for the birth!

You do all realise we have clocked up over 500 posts in 10 days?!!! You lot really should find something more productive to do with your time you know!! And I bet none of you let on to the DP/H's how much of the day you spend on the computer?!!

purpleluce · 24/10/2006 18:21

Hi there all

Am not surprised about the hours - you are a chatty lot but highly entertaining, thanks!

I am the newbie/slight imposter due at end of Oct but pretty likely to go to Nov. Anyway - all those without contraction like action, just thought I'd let you know that I am 39 +2 and no period pain, or contractions or shows here!. Got nothing till 41 wks last time either, but then it all hapenned fairly fast.

Having roots done tomorrow and then will begin to be impatient. Would quite like baby to "fall out" like earlier anecdote although not till I get home from hairdresser

Oh yes and for what it's worth, I remember my contractions feeling like electric shocks starting at the top of my bump - not a description I've heard from others but midwife set it made sense and contractions often start from top in labour.

Good luck all - hang in to 37 weeks you irritable uterus homebirthers......

DebbsyandBibby · 24/10/2006 18:25

Good luck Tinsan

NatalieJane · 24/10/2006 18:35

Purpleluce, you have been reading about things coming out of my fanjo, my sex life, my MIL, and probably a load of other stuff that I have forgotten about, no one is a newbie after they've read that much about it!! LOL

Hows it going Debbsy? You have been quiet lately?

Charleesunnysunsun · 24/10/2006 18:51

Lol only on mumsnet could we happily sit here discussing our fanjo's!

I have just set up LO moses basket my our bed, i opened the beautiful set of bedding we got from babies r' us, it just makes me want LO to come more but i doubt it will i was 40 weeks with no sign of anything when they induced me with ds.

I did rant on the phone to the hospital, apparently there is NO consultants available who are qualified to speak to me untill my appointment, i was told that there is no point winding myself up and stressing over it as it CANT be canged.......... bitch!

I had another breast feeding dream last night i keep having them im not sure why i have never done it before i don't know if it's a hidden worry of mine. I always seem to be doing ok in my dreams so who knows? The baby was a girl again in my dream.

I have also been studying my scan photo of this LO, it is laying length ways and through its leg you can see to bolder line type things where it's bits will be, does anyone else have a similar photo and do they know what there having?

NatalieJane · 24/10/2006 18:58

Oh Charlee for you. I know we would be no where with out the NHS, even in the state it is in, but I don't think a phone call just to put your mind at rest is asking too much! How qualified do you need to be to read some results out loud?

I forgot actually, the first dream I can remember having for ages was on Saturday night, I dreamed about the last few minutes of the birth and then going back to the maternity ward with the baby in the cot thing, someone came in to the room to see the baby I peered over the cot and there was a huge baby (easily about 6 months) with loads of blond hair and he was wearing glasses with really thick plasticy bright blue NHS frames LOL

staceym11 · 24/10/2006 19:14

someone come and take my dd away for 10mins before i strangle her please?!?!?!?!

arrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh need this baby out, dont think anyone understands how much, i cant go on in this much pain for much longer or im gunna flip, poor dd it aint her fault but shes being so whingy that i cant stand talking to her!!!!

oh i swear on my life im never doing this again, if i ever think about it please will one of you remind me of these last few weeks!!!!!!!
