Not had chance to catch up with thread yet, I will do later.

Scan went well. I'be been dated at 14 weeks today, so 5 days later and although the Nuchal measurement was good at 1.5mm, I fall one day outside the downs screening cut off, which I suspected. It means they will run more advanced tests on my blood, so the long wait for the results now.

Peanut is a little wriggler, kept turning its back which was funny, then it turned and looked like it was waving - so cute.

So back to being nervous but am reassured that good strong heartbeat and sonography seemed happy that measurements were ok, so fingers crossed.

You're defo not a doom merchant zampa! That's v sensible advice.

Car seats - we had the maxi cosi cabriofix too. Fixes v easily to the isofix points and felt nice and sturdy. We now have a Cybex Pallas 2 fix which we love. Car seats are a big thing for me so I'll stop there or I'll be ranting forever!

Bustherb · 02/01/2015 17:10

That sounds like a good deal on the cot bed miss! Shock I've reserved the tommee tippee starter set so I'm picking that up along with the baby monitor tomorrow.

Does anyone get stabbing pains really low down? I seem to get them now and again but I've been a little stressed today so have had them again. Xx

naty1 · 02/01/2015 17:10

Overtired- thats confusing as say nhs site says they can do nt up to 14+1

Pipbin · 02/01/2015 17:10

Over I had a conversation with my MW about Downs testing the other day as my scan is at 13+3 and I was worried about it being past the cut off. However as I am and IVF pregnancy I know my dates are accurate to the minute.
She said that they can't officially take the NT measurement into account and that the probability is calculated through blood tests etc. She did say that that although NT is not clinically used after 13+6 it is still a good rough indicator. She said that if the results are less that 1 in 150 you get a phone call asap and then an appointment the next day. If you want they then do an amino test and the result of that is definitive.

Pipbin · 02/01/2015 17:14

Bustherb I just read this on the Mumsnet week by week guide for week 12:
Your uterus is now the size of a grapefruit and starting to come out of the pelvis. This means you'll be able to feel it. It also means you'll get twinges of discomfort as it strains for freedom from the ligaments that are holding it to your abdominal wall. The ligaments will win but you may feel the pain. Avoid sudden movements.

Bustherb · 02/01/2015 17:22

Ah thanks pip, must be what it is, it was defiantly worse when carrying a heavy bag xx

StoneBaby · 02/01/2015 17:35

If all fine on Tuesday's scan, I'll start buying a few things but clothes will be bought after the 20 weeks scan.

Despites been 35 going on 36, I won't have the Down test as DH doesn't want to know and would prefer to discover at birth.

Thanks Pip, it's confusing isn't it?! I am still worried it the sonographer was really confident that measurements seemed ok, will just have to wait for blood results. The MW said that I would hear straight away if any problems. I'm not the most patient person at the best of times?!Wink

Pipbin · 02/01/2015 17:48

From what I understand the NT measurement is taken into account along side other stuff like your age, blood test results etc. and the computer churns out a probability. Although the NT measurement is a good indicator it is not something you can take an answer from.

broodylicious · 02/01/2015 17:50

stone, dh and I were discussing the nt screening. I turned 36 on sunday so possibly will be higher risk than I was when I had dd in 2012. It wouldn't have made the slightest bit of difference back then but now we have dd and she could be affected by a sibling with severe ds...bit trickier. Such a quandary.

My sister text an apology last night. Still too angry to even accept it! Need to calm down or no good for BP or baby.

Overtiredbackagain · 02/01/2015 17:54

I'm 40, so expecting a high result Hmm

Kilicat · 02/01/2015 18:56

Happy new year everyone. I've been off here for a while over the holidays - this group moves so fast it's hard to keep track of everyone's news! Hope you all enjoyed Christmas.

I had a follow up scan at the EPAU just before Christmas which was good timing - everything's fine (had a few concerns at an earlier scan) and was dated as now being 13 + 2. Got my official 12 week scan and NT on Monday so it'll be nice to see the little one again!

Is anyone else still being sick everyday? I thought this would have passed by now but I am almost always sick first thing in the morning, ok for most of the day and then nauseous again in the evening. Also, does the extreme tiredness lift in the second trimester? I was hoping to feel better before work starts again on Monday after a three week holiday, but that's not looking likely now.

Very impressed with everyone organised enough to start buying stuff! Think we've decided to try and have a clear out of junk we don't need before we start buying for the baby. However, I would recommend looking out (or posting wanted ads) on freecycle as we got a complete set of reusable nappies, with all the trimmings (liners etc) from birth to potty trained from a lady who used one once and decided that she didn't like them so everything is basically brand new! Interestingly both me and DH replied to the message and she got back to DH and not me so that could be a good tactic as I guess there are lots of people after the good items that get advertised.

Sorry for the long post!

Bustherb · 02/01/2015 19:01

Kili I'm still sick but not as much as I was. I'm just randomly sick now but I can never tell when it's going to be. I've been fine the last 2 days but the day before I spent most of the day being sick. I nearly threw up then until I ate something earlier. I'm 13 & 3 xx

broodylicious · 02/01/2015 19:29

Hi kili. Yeah I'm still being sick every day. Vile bile as soon as I open my eyes in the morning - no time for hurried toast or dry snacks! - feel v sick for about an hour after breakfast, then often sick before lunch, always nauseous all afternoon until 4/5pm when, frankly, I could be sick enough for all of you on this thread!! Occasionally sick around 10pm too but that seems to have eased a little in the last few days. I'm not complaining though, as I'm taking it as a great sign things are good until I google and find out I could have a molar pg, blighted ovum or other devastating situation

broodylicious · 02/01/2015 19:30

Forgot to say, I'm 11+1 x

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/01/2015 19:30

Wow it's been busy today. I agree with Nature in terms of taking time to pick a travel system, so many people get frustrated with theirs and end up spending loads on a second. Little, we spent a lot of time looking at this and ended up buying a silvercross wayfarer for your budget which we are still happy with but it totally depends on your needs. We won't be buying anything this time as dd is 14 months and we still have everything.

Re downs testing we are in the same boat as Broody. I am 36 so higher risk I guess but am very aware of any effect on dd. It's so difficult I am just praying that I come back low risk.

I am still being sick most days, and still struggle to eat much. I have lost 3kg so far and counting. Absolutely dreading the return to work on Monday!

WantToGoingTo · 02/01/2015 21:38

So my birthday lunch out over the weekend has now turned into hospital visits after my dad admitted tonight after having a heart attack :( I feel so bad for him as he has done everything to prevent it; he doesn't drink or some, he exercises every day and he eats v healthily. It's not fair! Luckily he is now on the mend after an emergency op this evening but he has to stay in all weekend.

broodylicious · 02/01/2015 21:42

Oh want Thanks sending hugs xx

naty1 · 02/01/2015 21:51

Hope he's on the mend want
Dm had a heart attack years ago now and a stent operation.
I think say peoples cholesterol can be high even if they eat well- my DDad is like yours and his was higher than Dm at the time

Leela5 · 02/01/2015 21:57

:( want hope he gets well soon

So sorry to hear some of you are still very sick. My nausea lingers in the background so I never feel fully 'well' but not ill enough to be sick or have day off. I'm 12 weeks today, will feel much more confident after my scan in a week.

People are being very kind and offering me their old baby stuff. I'd like to buy new buggy, monitor and car seat for safety but otherwise all do nearly new sales and Facebook baby stuff for sale groups. Found mamas and papas set for £100 today online, but I'm determined to get a cheaper one somewhere! Grin

I'm plumping for the silver cross surf 2. It's really easy to fold and convert to travel system. It's pricey but I'm going to ttc no 2 after this one so it'll get a lot of wear. Sometimes it comes with free simplicity car seat, just got to wait for deals.

Pipbin · 02/01/2015 21:59

Oh no Want. Sounds like he's getting good care though.

Over I'm 39 so expecting a high result too. Talked to the mw about it. She said that age is only one of the factors. I've also been talking to a friend who had a result confirming Down's and she has talked me through it. If ours comes back positive for it DH and I know what we would do as we talked about it when we started ttcing.

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/01/2015 22:07

Sorry Want, what a shock. Glad the op went well at least, hope he is better soon.

Number3cometome · 02/01/2015 22:09

OH and I have discussed, I am 34 in Feb so I guess still going to have a higher chance. We will have the tests done and know what we would do if confirmed. Don't even really want to think about it too much, just desperate to see a healthy heartbeat for now!

want so sorry, hope he gets well soon Flowers

I'm shattered today and got grumpy with OH. Didn't mean to but he kept doing annoying things like poking me and sniffing my feet (?? I know wtf right?) whilst I was sleeping on the settee.

I am sick on random days, only logic to it is if I don't instantly eat toast as soon as I get up I puke. Usually a smell sets it off.

Number3cometome · 02/01/2015 22:10

over glad to hear baby is growing well x
