I've had no sickness at all. Mw seems to think it's due to the gestone injections. So if anyone wants to swap sickness for a 3cm long needle in their arse every night then be my guest.

Overtiredbackagain · 02/01/2015 22:23

Want, hope your dad recovers quickly.

OH and I also discussed our options if we get positive results after screening. I guess you have to decide what is best for you individually as a family, but with two DC already, it would affect us all. Fingers crossed for this little one.

I've seen loads of stuff in the sales, but know I don't want to tempt fate right now.

Am exhausted, oh has a horrendous cough, which is most unlike him to be sick, but it's kept us both awake for the last two nights Hmm

misseskimo · 02/01/2015 22:27

want sorry to hear about your dad, hope he gets better soon!
Only downside or upside depending on how you see it to a spreadsheet is that you realise just how much your spending! Lol. But at least you know exactly what you do and don't have, and what you still need to get/save for etc. I'm envious you have people to borrow things from though!

bustherb I think I'm about at my limit for spending this month. We allowed ourselves £200 to spend in the sales, but said it we find something at a really good price (i.e. the cotbed) then we could go upto £300. But it will leave us tight for the rest of the month Hmm However we got some money for Christmas from my parents, which we are now using instead of pushing ourselves, and it really helped that M&P's let us pay 25% now and the rest later on. That's with no credit checks either, all you need to do is register for their free baby club online or instore before purchasing. You can add as much as you like to it and pay off as and when before baby arrives. We said we'll probably pop into the outlet store once a month to make the most of any deals and just add them to the order if money is tight.

TinyCaterpillar · 02/01/2015 23:30

Want sorry to hear about your dad, hope he makes a speedy recovery.

In terms of baby clothes, just buy millions of vests. Newborns can easily go through 5 outfits in a day but July = easy - new vest and done. Get some cheapish ones that you don't mind binning, some nappy explosions just aren't worth it!!

Pram wise it really depends what your lifestyle is like and how you'll be using it. You'll see lots of people say not to bother with a travel system, everyone has a maclaren by 6m etc.... But I've not found that to be true - I still use my big(ish) icandy travel system daily, it suits my lifestyle as I do a lot of walking and have two toddlers and all their crap to contain, no way would a lightweight stroller cut it. But if you're in and out of the car a lot then something small and light would be better. Plus car seat adapters if possible, it's bliss when you can pop into the shops with a sleeping baby, get everything done and get them back in the car and they're none the wiser! Smile

I haven't bought anything for the baby yet, tbh I've got pretty much everything already but I would like to get a few new outfits just for him/ her. Might have a browse tomorrow! I'll also need a new baby monitor as ours has given up the ghost recently.

I called EPU about the continued bleeding and I'm having anti-d next week. Nice big injection to look forward to!

Wow epic post sorry! I'm 12+0 today.

Number3cometome · 03/01/2015 06:26

Pip Shock
I'll stick with the sickness !

11 weeks today, need toast, like now.

Number3cometome · 03/01/2015 07:10

Myself and the toilet bowl were just reunited. The toast never survived. Blush

WiIdfire · 03/01/2015 07:13

So this is weird - vomited for the first time yesterday at 14+2! Not wanting to rub it in for all you ladies who have been puking daily for three months but I've had no nausea really at all. Until yesterday. Since when is morning sickness supposed to kick in during second trimester???

smallgreenbanana · 03/01/2015 07:50

Just had a quick look at buggies online... omg it is so complicated. How on earth are you supposed to know what to buy?? Clueless. Sad

SophieBarringtonWard · 03/01/2015 08:28

smallgreenbanana I'd start off thinking about your needs - do you live up a flight of stairs & need something that folds up small & light so you can carry it up? Do you drive a lot, in which case you want something that fits in your boot & takes a baby carseat? Do you walk a lot, or do you anticipate doing so on mat leave? Do you take the bus/train often, in which case you want something with a small footprint? Make a list of what you want from a buggy & start from there. There are lots of helpful posters in the pushchairs topic on MN.

We lived in London when we had our first & got a Maclaren - didn't need a carseat adaptor as we didn't drive, needed it to be small & light so I could carry it up & down flights of stairs. Used a sling for the first year anyway. It's been great & lasted 6 years, but I think I will get something different for DC3, as it's on its last legs now! Might replace with another Maclaren but thinking about something a bit more off-road to keep up with DC1 and DC2...

TinyCaterpillar · 03/01/2015 08:30

Small it's really complicated! The best thing to do is to go to John Lewis or somewhere where they have a big selection and try some out - if you can borrow a toddler to bring with you so much the better Smile but a really heavy bag will do! Some prams seem fine with little/ no weight in them but become hard to push with a big baby or toddler! Have a look at travel systems (if you've got a car) vs strollers, can you use it from birth, what's the hood like (good sun protection is vital especially in July and parasols are useless). If there's a height difference between you and your OH is the handlebar adjustable/ if not is it at a comfortable height for you? If you're planning to do shopping with pram is the basket big? Are you planning to use it in the city/ off road country walks/ both? Do you want baby to be able to face you? Is it easy to fold? Once you've seen a few you should have an idea of what you like and don't like and be able to narrow down the selection! Hope that helps Smile

TinyCaterpillar · 03/01/2015 08:32

Oh yes and Sophie makes a great point - get a decent sling! It's great to be able to go out without all the baby paraphernalia sometimes! And if you live in a city it's great for ease of travel.

Kilicat · 03/01/2015 08:48

Sorry to hear that there's a few of us still being regularly sick. I am hoping that in the next week or so it will start to die down but then I've heard it can carry on for ages if you're unlucky! I've not yet been sick this morning so maybe this is a good sign.

smallgreenbanana I am totally with you on that. It's so hard to know where to start. Thanks to everyone for the advice that's been posted! I lived in East Africa for five years and everyone just used slings - baby on the front when they're tiny and older babies and toddlers on the back, a bit like a back pack! Maybe that's the way forward?

Zampa · 03/01/2015 08:49

I've found Which quite useful in terms of judging what brands/models to buy. They've tested so many pushchairs/car seats etc. I think they often do a trial subscription for £1.

broodylicious · 03/01/2015 08:50

Yes we are sling lovers too. We got the caboo (I think it might be called close now?) and it's lovely and stretchy, light enough not to get baby and you all hot and bothered, but strong and supportive for your back. We progressed on to a baby Bjorn (miracle? It's the one with super duper back protection) and we loved that too. You can face baby outwards in that too when they're older but that particular brand isn't great for hip placement so we will be looking to get a Little Life or a Connecta or something similar. Having a sling just means you can carry on doing what you need to and baby will be close to you, hearing your heartbeat, feeling your breath etc.

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/01/2015 08:56

We signed up for Which just for that reason last time! I do a lot of walking on mat leave so really needed something easy to steer with a big basket which narrowed it down quite a lot. I also wanted one that was reversible so I could have baby facing me in the early days and I found it invaluable to be able to pop the car seat in it. So much depends on that checklist of priorities.

Thepurplegiraffe · 03/01/2015 08:58

We got the baby bjorn then couldn't use it because dd has/had hip issues. It's a great sling though and we have the next one up now, the one which is ok for hips.

SophieBarringtonWard · 03/01/2015 09:20

We use a Moby wrap (stretchy wrap) then an Ergo. Love them. kilicat I lived in Zambia & South Africa for a while & I do sometimes use my collection of chitenges in traditional style to tie a baby on the back!

WantToGoingTo · 03/01/2015 10:44

Thanks for your well wishes, dad's op went well though it was complicated and took an hour and a half Shock he feels better now though, they are keeping him in until Sunday at least. I am going to visit this afternoon. Was a bit of a shock as he was saying at Christmas he felt funny and had vest pains but me and mum didn't think anything of it as he has anxiety and he gets that sometimes if he is out of routine etc. even GP didn't think anything wron and ony sent him to hospital to get checked out to ease his mind co any dad was so worried about it! Goo job they did! He is retired though and no driving for a week and my parents live in a village so that will be a bum for him next week but oh well.

Only just woke up, DH and I been sleepin in really late Shock the 6am start on Monday is going to be painful!

Sorry for ladies still with sickness, fx it eases off in next couple of weeks. My food aversions have annoyingly returned and I am back to snacking after being fine over Xmas Hmm

Think I am going to bite the bullet and tell work today. It has to be done by email as manager on hols til mid-jan and I am worrie about it so want it out of the way before I start on Monday.

11+1 time flies!

Naturegirl82 · 03/01/2015 10:47

If you are thinking of buying a sling have a look for a sling library near you (Google or Facebook should help) as you can hire and try out different slings and get some great advice from trained professionals. Buying a sling can be as daunting as buying a pram so it's useful to get some advice. You need to make sure that the sling you buy is suitable for babies hips as well. I've got a stretchy wrap and a hybrid (part wrap part structured carrier) but I'm planning on buying a woven wrap for this baby as the stretchy will be too warm in summer.

Feeling a bit out of it today, lightheaded and a bit woosy. Likely to be from a shift in blood to the baby as I had it last time as well.

Pipbin · 03/01/2015 10:49

I swear I'm feeling movement but I'm only 11+1 so I don't think I really can be.

Aretepetite · 03/01/2015 11:21

Want I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope he is on the mend Flowers

Killi it is peaks and troughs with me since moving into 2nd trimester. Much preferable to the constant nausea and tiredness of the 1st though and hopefully easier to manage at work.

Loads of useful advice this morning. We will invest in a good sling, quite like the moby wrap so something like that. Will also check out the free ads. I am still undecided in ours/baby's needs in terms of pram, travel system. I know the carrycot is only used for a short time and chances of us having another baby are slim to nothing not what dh thinks but i do intend to walk a lot. I could get a buggy with carrycot but as you all know there is loads to consider. I will be buying a new car seat Broody lol x or if my young cousin offers me hers I will be ok in taking that wont I ? Her DS is 18 months and she got it new !

Well my new symptom since yesterday is headache Hmm because everything is a symptom right ?! and currently drinking litres of fresh orange per day which helped with the bloat last night so heres hoping :)

charlieis30 · 03/01/2015 12:07

hi everyone, sorry to hear everyone is still so sick. I've been lucky, no vomiting but just nausea, bloating and heartburn all day every day. Worse if I don't eat regularly. I feel really guilty as I work from home so sleep a lot, tiny things completely wipe me out. Met a friend for brunch yesterday, walked the 15m there then had to get a bus back and slept 3h when i got home! Off to work a few days in the office tomorrow and really dreading it. DH going away for a 3wk long work trip soon and I'm really dreading it.
whoops sorry for the pity party, just feeling a bit down today.

BadIdeaBear · 03/01/2015 13:08

Hi everyone - some good advice on prams/ pushchairs and slings this morning - thanks. Definitely wanting a sling and need a city friendly buggy, as I'm only a 15 minute walk from the centre of my city and imagine I'll spend a fair amount of time walking. If only to put off having to drive...

My only symptoms now are tiredness and light-headedness, but the latter is annoying and is happening a lot. I also think I felt some movement this morning, pipbin - it was definitely not on the right place for a wind related movement!

We're decluttering my DSCs' room today and starting to talk about and plan a lot more to do with moving them to a new room and what we need for both rooms. But we're trying not to buy yet... thinking of sorting properly at Easter, after 20 week scan. Although saying that I have just made an offer on gumtree for a bed that would be perfect for DSS in his new space so not doing well there...!

13+0!

Bustherb · 03/01/2015 14:59

Arete I'm also having headaches, I don't usually get them but recently I can't seem to shake them off. I've brought 4head that you can put onto where your head is hurting, it's taken the edge off a bit xx

itsnotthatdeep · 03/01/2015 15:12

I think im having a very easy time of it compared to most of you ladiesShock my biggest issue is my birthing issues so I have a while til that becomes a problem.

I have been gifted a Mamas n Papas Mylo with all the bells n whistles so thats a major blessing I'm not a fan of slings due to mahoosive boobs I never felt comfortable carrying my dd. I dont drive so its all about a good walking pushchair for me.

ive managed to bag a cot bed and a carry cot for hardly anything via friends so im super happy.

im sorry for all those still struggling with msShock

had a long and honest chat with my oh last night regards by birthing issues, he's already spoken to my mum who scared the pants off him apparently and has informed him she will be there at the birth too Grin

sorry for long post
