Yep smog, me too. Would love a glass or two of bubbly or some finer wine Sad

ChickenMe · 24/12/2014 19:27

Ginger wine-not finer wine. I'm not that classy

RiverRocks · 24/12/2014 19:33

I had a sparkly J2O in a hot bubble bath and now chilling in the living room with all the lights on and ignoring the fact I have no kitchen and the new one is taking up most of said living room. Aah. Lovely relaxing evening. Making the most of it, can't see next year being quiet!

We've two cats. T-cat is at least 12, doesn't like noise or sudden movements. I think he'll avoid the baby completely. R-cat is younger and a tart more sociable, and likes children. He won't hurt the baby but he's a mummy's boy so I foresee fighting him off my knee whilst trying to feed. I've also heard cat nets are a waste of time so we're not going to bother, and just make sure they don't get near him.

We've got a Next2Me bought by my mum, but I've also got a Moses basket for downstairs.

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Grin

Lauren82000 · 24/12/2014 19:48

I keep hinting at a snowball but DH just sips his and says no. Sad It's not christmas without one.

Hidingthefear · 24/12/2014 19:56

minipie she's never had pets herself but we got 3 kittens that were brothers and sisters that we rescued from a flee infested pet shop that were reported to RSPCA a couple of years ago and in her opinion 3 was too many cats and I was ridiculous for bringing them home (we already had 1 cat so it actually made 4). admittedly it was a handful but I couldn't leave them there. She pulled her face when we got the puppy as well and said why don't we just have a baby instead, dogs are so tying and a big responsibility (correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't a baby a much longer lifetime commitment that changes the way you life your life more than a dog?)

ChickenMe maybe you're right, she just seemed to moan about everyone while I was there. I don't usually snap back at her but to say it was good that my last cat had gone pushed me too far.

Oh minipie whats a sleepy head? were really pushed for room and won't even be able to fit in a moses basket or bedside cot without blocking getting in and out of the room or blocking the wardrobe. We do have a kingsize bed though.

LadyNovember · 24/12/2014 20:04

Merry Christmas ladies! Work isn't too bad - the staff room is full of cakes and I've just devoured an entire dominos pizza to myself..! Only 4 hours to go!! :D xx

AnniaFausta · 24/12/2014 20:20

I'm saving myself for a small glass of wine or bubbly with lunch tomorrow... but I know what you mean about the season making the lack of booze suddenly feel much more obvious! A Manhattan would be just the trick around now...

smogsville · 24/12/2014 21:54

I'm over it now Annia. Also I had loads of Cointreau cream and cognac butter with my mince pies just now Grin

DH has decanted quite an old st emilion grand cru for tomorrow and I have my eye on a glass of it with my lunch. Decided against champagne as that will be earlier and then I will have to be dry at food time and that would be dreadful.

I am also going to dip some cantucci very very briefly into DH's vin santo in the grounds that it's only really drinking if you take it from a glass, not if a naughty biscuit has absorbed it.

Not that I've been thinking about this very much all evening or anything...

TheBooMonster · 24/12/2014 22:07

chicken it's a normal exercise ball, we got it from Aldi when they had some sort of exercise special on.

TheBooMonster · 24/12/2014 22:09

I've swapped wine and other alcoholic drinks for Eisberg non alcoholic so I can get away with all of the alcohol edible filled goodies

minipie · 24/12/2014 22:31

hiding I can't get a link to work but if you look on john Lewis or Amazon for sleepyhead you'll find it. Pricey but plenty available second hand. best description is that it's a bit like a dog bed but for a baby!? It's meant to make the baby feel more cosy and sleep better, also provides a kind of separate area in the bed for the baby if you're co sleeping. Poddlepods are similar but cheaper, but they say they are not for overnight use whereas sleephead is. There's also the Cocoonababy which is cozy like the Sleepyhead idea but also tilted so really good for babies with reflux.

it seems I've done a lot of research on baby sleeping aids! can you tell DD1 was an awful sleeper?!

Ah alcohol. I agree Christmas makes it harder to be alcohol free. I had a lovely glass of wine yesterday (DH's birthday), I may stay off any booze tomorrow and then have a glass of something at the PILs on 27th. FIL thinks it's ridiculous that pg women don't drink so tends to offer rather liberally...

Hidingthefear · 24/12/2014 23:45

Found them on Google thanks minipie my worry with them would be about if I accidentally cover baby up with the duvet or something in his sleep. Maybe a moses basket on the dresser at the end of the room might work. He'll still be in the room with us but we'll still be able to walk around the bed.

We went to the pub as always tonight to see friends which we've done since we were 18. Didn't bother me in the slightest not drinking although I think the j2o makes my indigestion worse :(
Best get to sleep before Santa comes!, he already gave me an early present :D DH got me a maternity pillow so I'm going to go give it a try! Brownie points for him :)

FizzyBubbly · 25/12/2014 03:34

DD sound asleep...
DH sound asleep...
Even the bloody cat is sound asleep...
I'm wide awake! Must be Christmas!! (mixed with good old pregnancy insomnia!)

Have a great day everyone! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 25/12/2014 07:34

My cats haven't bothered any of my babies, although they do like an empty pushchair! When we put ds1's cot up we left the plastic wrapping on and they then jumped in and straight back out! We got a kitten just before I got pregnant with ds2 who tended to occasionally get in ds2's cot as we didn't have the plastic but never with him in it, he also likes the travel cot when I used to leave it up for work. One of mine initially got quite upset when ds1 had his colic scream fests and would bite me while I was walking around with him and then run off!

I have a ball, it was recommended by my antenatal yoga teacher and I think it's just a normal exercise ball. Was all I sat on towards the end of my pregnancies.

So I would appear my dh's sinusitis is back :( he was horribly grumpy about it all and snappy before bed. I stayed up with him and then just before midnight started to feel sick. Was throwing up from then until 2 and have had lots of cramps so I think it must be a bug and not pregnancy related. Forgot to turn the alarm off so that woke me at 6.40 and he's now making a hell of a racket next to me managing to sleep with the outer tube of his inhaler in his mouth to keep it open and stop him being woken by trying to breathe through his nose! He called 111 at 2 and they got him an appointment at 9.10 but no idea where he'll get antibiotics if he get prescribed more. So I'm wide away, Dh is snoring and the kids aren't up because my neighbours came over and stayed until 10 so they're knackered. So scared to even sip water in case I start being again! Baby really didn't like the cramps, was wriggling like mad which just made me feel even worse, poor little thing! Such ashame when you look forward to one day, hope kids are well when they wake up.

Merry Christmas to you all, hope you have a fantastic day Xmas Smile

I also think one snowball won't do you any harm but everyone has to do their own thing Wine

PenguinPoser · 25/12/2014 07:58

Oh no cinnamon sounds like a bad start to the day, hope it gets better and you and your DH feel better soon!! Most GP our of hours services will have a supply of medication if there are no chemists open so fingers crossed.

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Grin so exciting that next year we will all have our new additions!

BonjourMinou · 26/12/2014 08:56

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas! Xmas Grin

I got a tummy bug on Christmas Eve so was up all day and night throwing up then got hardly any sleep before Christmas. Xmas Sad was still feeling a bit off Christmas day, grrr, so annoying, managed to escape all the maladies that people all around me seemed to be getting until the most critical moment! Luckily we went round my mum's for Christmas day so I didn't have to do any of the work. Feeling better today and it's round my MIL's for round 2. Hopefully I should feel a bit more with it today!

Had a practice with my JPMBB ring sling today (well last night as a front carry with DD's doll!) and this morning as a back and hip carry with DD herself. It's a lot harder than they make it look on the you tube videos but I'm determined to crack it, DD seemed really calm snuggled on my back and I actually managed to load the dishwasher without having to wait for her to have a nap! Front room still a tip, waiting until she does have a nap to do any proper tidying. Can't be waiting for DS to nap as well to get stuff done, or... stuff won't get done Wink so getting used to the slings is really critical.

Re cats, I was really worried about mine sleeping on the baby (they're pretty dopey and will seemingly sleep anywhere, the more uncomfortable the better - it's a challenge) so I acquired a cat net before dd arrived. They thought it was a hammock. We even tried to bolster it with wire sewn in but to no avail! When DD did arrive, we found that they loved to sleep in her pram/ baby swing etc when they were empty but stayed way clear when she was actually in it. They also seemed to realise she was a baby and seemed quite protective of her! that last sentence may be all in my soppy head

BrixtonBunny · 26/12/2014 10:10

Merry christmas all! Hope everyone is having a wonderful time.

Sorry to those poorly people, I was also feeling quite rough yesterday with earache, but it was still a lovely day. Very much looking forward to spending today on the sofa under a duvet re-watching the old BBC Pride & Prejudice with DP though!

Can't believe this will have been our last Christmas as a duo! It was so nice yesterday to get baby clothes as well, plus a Caboo Close baby carrier we'd had our eyes on - so comfy, and it looks good on DP too.

25+2 xx

Ps just seen someone has started a September thread!!! Shock

OP posts:
Lauren82000 · 26/12/2014 10:17

Ah yes Bonjouri know that bomb site well. I have my own! I was pretty good and put all my presents away yesterday so it's just a bit of DHs and masses of DDs. I also have an extremely healthy chocolate drawer Smile

TheBooMonster · 26/12/2014 10:21

Hope things are a bit easier in your house today cinnamon and all the illness didn't put too much of a dampener on the festivities!

Blimey a due in September thread?! feels like We've been pregnant forever!!

BananaToast · 26/12/2014 13:00

Sorry so many of you were ill this christmas. DH and I have both had nasty colds but were feeling better, if a bit snotty, by Christmas Day.

We were given a co sleeper cot (Baby Bay) and a couple of things for baby, and DH bought me a maternity pillow Smile Can't believe this time next year we'll have a little one with us causing mayhem!

Wineandchoccy · 26/12/2014 13:04

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Day, Baby got more presents than DH and I. Bump got a bouncy chair, play mat, pram toys, 2 outfits and sleep suits. When I got the play mat out the cat must have thought I had bought it a lovely padded sleeping mat as it curled up on it until I pressed the squeaky bits

I got some lovely mum to be smellies, the sanctuary stuff is lovely. I have just had a bath and used the body cream and painted my finger nails although it was a struggle to do my toe nails Grin

DH is still in bed nursing a hangover, how I don't miss one of those.

TMI alert ........Anybody else got leaky nipples? My nightie was all wet this morning as my right boob has sprung a leak! Lovely the joys of pregnancy.

24 + 3

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 26/12/2014 13:29

yes, I have leaky nipples. breast pads in use (at least it helps keep them warm, I suppose)

Lauren82000 · 26/12/2014 14:01

No leaking nipples here so far. Last time I found some nice comfy nursing sleep bras that were like a crop top from mothercare very handy if your leaking and need pads.

BananaToast · 26/12/2014 15:27

No leaking here yet, didn't realise that could start so early.

Been browsing the sales online for baby bargains this afternoon - our car seat (Cabriofix) is currently the cheapest I've seen it in Argos so might be worth buying that soon.
