Had growth scan today. All fine, baby is measuring 50 percentile. Phew! Feeling like I can relax a bit now. I had a sneak peak at the results and head and stomach are about a week behind, which is fine but legs are a week ahead. Yes, tall baby! Ha ha. Im only 5ft 3, but DH is 6ft, so this makes me happy. I'd love to be taller.

Couldn't get any new pictures, as baby had both arms in front of face and was not for moving.

kismac · 06/01/2015 15:01

Aww Squatting, poor wee thing. Hope he feels better soon.

daholster · 06/01/2015 15:14

mswibble tots bots easyfit do not fit a teeny bot... We got easyfits. They stopped leaking at about 3 months old! Then they got tight round her legs at 9 months and she got lots of nappy rash, the Velcro scratched her tummy and we gave in. We were sad. We were naive and bought them all at the baby show and should have tried different ones. My friend eventually settle on bambino mio and little lambs and was much happier with those

But some people are very happy with tots bots. I would just suggest a few teeny fits first! Honestly, the gaps around the legs... But then she did only start out at 6lb 6... Poo everywhere, quite often!!!

Still, I liked them more again when some of our patterns sold on eBay for £50 a nappy!!! USED!!! Invest in the one off prints...

Hope they fit your dc better than they did ours.

Glad your mind is at rest kismac!

I'd be tempted to take him SquattingNeville, I have one petticoat minded little boy who has an impressive gag reflex and is often sick when he gets a bad cold. I know his parents quite well and trust them to be honest with me so if it's once and its related to coughing I will still have him.

I have been recommended bum genius by lots of people and have one v4 (pocket one as I figured they'd dry quicker) to try.

Is it bedtime yet? I'm soooo tired today!

Daholster - thanks for the advice! I did initially want to just buy about 20 of the totsbots but someone advised me to try all the others too. Im hoping I get on with them but if not im sure I'll be able to sell them on, the print pack i ordered is a lucky dip so fingers crossed we get funky ones! Interested to look into the bambinos and little lambs ... I can only imagine how big and bulky terries will be on a new born so I need to research reusables that are specifically for them. I just dont want to go mad and buy loads that I wont use or dont work out. The Nappy Lady is fab, going to have another look at her site for more info on teeny stuff.

AnniaFausta · 06/01/2015 16:29

Just back from 25 week appt with the doctor, after yesterday's was scuppered by the surgery computer deciding to cancel it... no nasty surprises and everything progressing as normal. Phew!

mswibble · 06/01/2015 16:36

Can I ask why you have been referred for a growth scan kismac? Were there concerns following the 12/20wk scans?

Has anyone else got booked for gestational diabetes tests? Im booked in for Monday 19th, hoping everything is hunkydory though to be honest im still not 100% on the implications. Midwife next week too so hopefully I'll finally get my MATB1 form and get everything official at work.

Everyone told me that the weeks would fly as soon as I hit the halfway mark and by god they were right! 51 days left in work for me - yay!

24+5

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 16:59

there were no concerns at my 12 week or 20 week scans, but I'm still having a growth scan this month, one next month, and one in march... it's stupid, really. Because of my medical history, I have to have consultant-led care. which involves basically the same questions every time which are also asked by the midwife WEEKLY. And the usual bp checks etc. And extra scans. Surely if there was a problem the midwife could escalate me up to the consultant? but no, so I have to go along every month, my fiance has to take at least one day a month off work to take me - 2 this month, there's the diabetes test too) but at least we now have the right for the father to attend 2 antenatal appointments as paid leave so that's 2 hospital trips that won't use up all of his annual leave.

Don't forget that, ladies! the father of the child is entitled to attend 2 of your appointments for up to 6 and a half hours at a time.

smogsville · 06/01/2015 17:06

Good work on growth scan news ladies.

I've got one at 36 wks. Just standard at my hospital appaz. Not sure what they're going to do at that late stage if it turns out baby deemed too small! Send us for a protein rich lunch perhaps?!

Speaking of which I have located the nearest Itsu and it's but 0.2 miles from the maternity front door so i am looking forward to sending DH out for some after DS arrives and I'm finally allowed to gobble sushi again. How tragic is that.

Tiny thanks for the JoJo link, I've just zoomed in and bought a top for a tenner and that grape dress for a niner.

I have growth scans booked too, at 28, 32 & 36 weeks. I understand that should these (or anything else) raise concerns then plans will be made to deliver early. Anytime after 34 weeks is deemed likely due to bp problems. I also have an appointment with the kidney specialist this month ordered by the obstetric team. The joys of chronic kidney disease!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 17:14

the diabetes test has (previous 2 pregnancies) been a nuisance, but I was fine both times. If you have a higher than they like BMI they want to do one, if there's a history of diabetes in your family, or if you're past a certain age they like to check.

I tick all three of those boxes, so I have the test. Mine is Monday.

ChickenMe · 06/01/2015 17:15

I'm curious about gestational diabetes too. I asked my midwife at the 25wk appt and she said you only get tested if you have a family history of diabetes or over a certain BMI. The thing is, I have eaten so many sweets, sugary things and chocolate im scared ive got gd without knowing

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 17:20

Chicken, you could ask the MW if you're concerned.

Pregnancy with my youngest I was addicted to those swizzels double lollies encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQPXwE6JHn5Za0knB7vfJo2gyXfiYZfaOmDdXOmRIKCJOCJzuIm

and I was fine.

TinyTear · 06/01/2015 17:21

I also have the gd test on the 19th.

I actually had GD in my past pregnancy and already had the test at 16w which was fine, but may not be at 28...

Also have a growth scan on that day...

My history is RMC history, and underactive thyroid, and high BMI and previous section... So naturally under consultant care...

kismac · 06/01/2015 17:46

Mswibble, I had growth scan cause at 20 week scan the baby was measuring small. Baby has caught up now, so they don't seem too concerned.

I've got blood glucose test on 22 Jan cause my mum is diabetic. Not looking forward to it. I'll probably puke due to hunger.

smogsville · 06/01/2015 17:48

They seem to do the lucozade test as standard at my hospital. I had it last time as well and so did my whole NCT group. Not looking forward to it at all!

Lauren82000 · 06/01/2015 17:58

I had the glucose test on Friday. Was the strangest tasting thing I've ever had. I certainly chugged the water they gave me after just to get rid of the taste.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2015 18:08

I'm having one mswibble, although haven't had a date yet, because my fluid levels are high. I had high levels with ds2 but had already had a gtt before the found them so didn't worry. Consultant said as the baby is going to have some difficulties they don't want to add to them so better to be safe than sorry. I had gtt with ds2 because of my bmi. If you do have gd they will put you on a special diet and you will have to visit diabetes clinic and usually induce slightly early as gd generally leads to larger shoulders and therefore problems with delivery if left to full term. Or that's the protocol round these parts anyway as I've had two friends who had it. My gtt wasn't lucozade just sugary water and didn't really taste of anything, nor was it think like I expected!

mswibble · 06/01/2015 18:15

As soon as I mentioned that my Dad has diabetes I was booked in for the test, that was at the initial booking in appt.
I must look through my notes but I havent seen growth scans mentioned anywhere. Im assuming I wont get anything unless the GDT reveals anything to worry about. Did you have to take insulin tiny or was it diet controlled - im not the best when it comes to needles!

I am a little concerned about it because as my initial weigh in at SW on Saturday revealed, I have absolutely packed on the weight. Blush I dont think I look too bad as it is mainly bump but considering im just over half way I would like to manage my weight more. Im definitely not dieting, just following the basic principles and cutting out junk (the majority of the time at least!)

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 18:17

we have the foul-tasting stuff here... they wouldn't allow me to substitute lucosade either, the meanies!

when I lived near reading we did a different version where you fasted then had to eat certain foods a set number of hours before the blood was taken.

Both made me feel sick, one because the stuff tasted awful and the other because eating that many foods at one time was just tooooo much for me!

BananaToast · 06/01/2015 18:38

Oh no Squatting, poor DS (and poor you!). Really hope he's better soon.

I'm planning on disposable nappies, reusables are a step too far to start with for me, but impressed by anyone who does use them!

Nobody's mentioned a GTT to me so I assume I'm not having one if all carries on as it is. But I've got a healthy BMI and no family history so probably no cause for concern.

I am having a growth scan at 36 weeks however as I have an underactive thyroid.

Ebwy my auntie gave me a big box of Swizzels sweets for Christmas (for me and the baby apparently!) so I have a massive supply of those lollies, drumstick lollies, fizzers, love hearts - the works! Figure the live hearts etc may come in handy later on if heartburn develops, but for now I'm enjoying the lollies! I'm not usually a big one for sweets, would always rather have chocolate, but these take me right back to childhood Smile Maybe I will need that GTT after all...

I've been trying to work out my maternity leave dates today to fill in the application form for work. I know when I want to start but it's the whole annual leave issue that's driving me crazy! It's so complicated working out how much I'll accrue and how much I want to use. Think I will use some annual leave at the start, then start mat leave on my due date, then tack a couple more weeks' leave on the end of mat leave, then return to work part time but paid full time for a month or so using annual leave for my days off. And then there's keeping in touch days - my work form asks me to specify which dates I want to come into work for these... I don't have a clue! I'm hoping this is all box ticking and my supervisor will be flexible later on if I need to change the days.Oh no Squatting, poor DS (and poor you!). Really hope he's better soon.

Oops managed to copy and paste my message so it's there twice Confused Sorry!

Chococroc · 06/01/2015 19:32

I'm currently on fortnightly growth scans, due to my type 1 diabetes. This is alongside the fortnightly consultant clinics I've had all the way through where I see the obstratician and the diabetes consultant plus usually a specialist midwife. It can mean a long drawn out afternoon at the hospital each time but I can't fault it, feel really lucky with the care they're giving me. The clinic I attend is for type 1, 2 and gestational diabetics and I understand is at least fortnightly for all, with induction usually by 38 weeks.

They're happy with baby size so far, my fluid levels are a little higher at the moment so keeping a closer eye on me at the moment but they don't seem too concerned at this point.

I got my maternity leave confirmation from HR today. My mat leave doesn't officially start until the end of March but I'm actually finishing work really early in about 6weeks time as I have so much annual leave to take which I can't carry over. Don't know what I'll do with so much free time pre baby!
