I do feel guilty, because it's not as though as time gets on it's going to get any better, especially when baby is here! On the other hand, it's not the end of the world for him! (Although it might seem it) but I suppose I do kiss the "closeness". But yes I agree, poking and prodding does not turn me on ha ha!
On the subject of reading the books, it's reminded me that a few months back all he would say was "It's not all about what it says in the books you know" when I would show him the sections where it says things like "She may not be entirely in the mood for sex, maybe give her a sensual massage instead". Ha ha! X

RL20 · 06/01/2015 11:18

Wow it must be on my brain! I meant "miss" not "kiss" ha ha

Lauren82000 · 06/01/2015 11:51

I was definitely more in the mood with DD than this time round. I could quite happily go without for the rest of the pregnancy. I have to remind myself that poor DH doesn't necessarily feel the same way so if he asks I let him, "hop on" I get away with it once a week/fortnight and that's fine by me! Smile

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 12:02

wow, am I the only one who's libido isn't slowing down? apart from just now, of course, can't stand being touched at the moment because I'm unwell. By the time he gets a chance when the kids are in bed I'm all touched out and ready to slap if he tries it! (not going to stop my lovely little boys from cuddling me and kissing me... bless them yesterday the 4 year old told me to lie down, fetched his special blanket and covered me with it, and the 2 year old stood by the sofa with his head on my chest, stroking my face and saying "aaaah mammy!" )
but right up until last week I was up for it!

finding positions that don't involve squishing the bump can be challenging.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 12:10

the poo in nappies isn't a problem if you use flushable liners. just dump the contents and liner into the loo and flush it away. The nappy goes in the bucket until the next load of washing is ready to do.

I do use disposeables at night and if we're going out though. Night because I worry about him lying in wet nappies all night (he has sensitive skin) and disposeables hold it better, and going out because it's just easier to bin it than carry it around.

Hidingthefear · 06/01/2015 12:28

DH bought me one of these for Christmas which was a lovely surprise
Amazon
My back has been aching since about 10weeks or so but was my own fault for moving tins of Paint. the pain in back has got soo much better since using this pillow and i think it's down to staying in a comfy position at night which stops me twisting.

RL i am one of them women, I don't think Dh can keep up with my sex drive at the moment. he's now the one thats "tired" when we go to bed or has a "headache" lol. Frequent sex does seem to sort of bring on Thrush though which is annoying!

ooo Sairie what changing bag did you get? I have a free one I got from Vertabaudet (or whatever they're called) but it doesn't seem very big) would be ok if I was just nipping to a relatives of something but not good for going out with.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 12:30

a note of caution with primark baby clothes (in my experience, anyway) - they are sized ok-ish when you get them (the occasional slightly small thing, but ok), but even on a 30 degree wash their stuff shrank! one top went down 3 sizes! the baby jogging bottoms (coz babies jog, obvs!) were ok.

Peacocks are ok, theirs seem to be about right for sizing and didn't shrink.
matalan are ok.
don't waste your money or time on poundland baby clothing (their other baby things are mostly ok) - horrendous quality. Awful shrinkage. Washed once, gave to the little girl next door for her dolls.

things might have improved in the last couple of years, but I'm not risking primark baby clothes again unless it's for an outfit for a special occasion that won't be worn again anyway.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 12:37

for my first 2 kids, I used the changing bag from boots baby club which I got for free when I bought nappies. I didn't realise they also sold them... note I got it free... then click the link to see how much they charge for it!!! www.boots.com/en/Boots-Parenting-Club-Baby-Changing-Bag-Black-Grey_1113805/

my partner's sister told me, said she laughed at the assistant when they suggested it when she was looking for one for me. She bought me a nice new one from mothercare for midwinter, and we got one with the buggy so I can have two packed (one for the double buggy, one with the singles for shopping)

Hidingthefear · 06/01/2015 12:39

Quick Question if anyone can help.

A friend at work's 2 year old Daughter has got nits (along with her 6 year old Brother) and she doesn't know how to get rid of them.
Apparently she cant use the lotion on the 2 year old the chemist has told her so does anyone know any alternative solutions? (or why they can't be used on a toddler?)

(i'm with you on the Libido front Ewby) I worry more about after Birth that i won't feel up to it for at least a few weeks so DH will be a little neglected but he understands this is coming and i'm sure he'll be supportive at least i hope he will

Lucyandpoppy · 06/01/2015 12:41

hidingthefear it could be that you and your partner are passing the thrush back and forth so make sure he gets treated for it each time too (canasten cream on his bits a few times a day for a few days) ive had thrush since week 16...now week 24...

Siarie · 06/01/2015 13:00

Hiding That pillow is a BEAST, even with our bed being huge I don't think I have room for that plus we have two large ragdoll cats. I bought the theraline which is half the size of that, it goes down to my legs and toes but doesn't wrap around. I bet yours is really comfy on your back though!

DH bought me a Storksak Elizabeth changing bag in Dove Grey I had done some review checks beforehand and I love the changing mat and cool/warm bottle holder that comes with the Storksak bags. Plus they seem really durable due to the leather materials used. I honestly love it, It doesn't look baby like and I feel like I will be able to keep part of me in this change over process haha.

That's cool Ebwy a few people have mentioned about the changing bag from boots, I joined up with them but I haven't had anything through although I wanted to pick something anyway. Going to get DH the Stokke changing bag too as its not girly and clips to the pram so I can have both on there without it looking weirdly bulky lol. I shall call it his man bag.

No problems with DTD here, I've been actively trying to make sure I keep it up as the first trimester was dire and I know it won't get any better once we have a newborn. Like Ebwy said though positions can be hilarious!

Hidingthefear · 06/01/2015 13:04

Lucyandpoppy yeah I've been told that, so we tend to use condoms anyway to be sure, but i didn't realise he could use canesten so that's good to know.
Doctor has told me to just use vagisil before now, I used to have issues with swapping between thrush and BV. Antiboitcs for BV gave me thrush and so the cycle continued.

wow that's pricey Ewby well done on getting it for free!!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 13:17

Hiding, a "nitty gritty" comb, loads of conditioner, a lot of time to do it painstakingly slowly, and repeat every day for a week is supposed to work.

Or ask the pharmacist for what she can use for a two year old. I last had them when I was pregnant with the eldest (his father caught them at the job centre, ugh!) and there was only one I could use while pregnant, can't remember the name of it but basically an expensive version of the comb & conditioner treatment.
it did work, though!

tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner for the kids (or vosene do a nit prevention all-in-one) once they've got rid of them, it's supposed to help. And smother their hair in products to go to school/nursery, the nits can't cling to the hair if it's covered in gel/spray etc.

I'm a hypocrite, because I'm going to say that long hair should be tied up for school and playdates, yet my 4 year old won't let me put his up for school! ugh, I'm itching now thinking about it.

Oh, and any adults they tend to hug should be de-nitted too.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 13:19

the boots changing bag there was a voucher to be filled in, then nappies to be purchased (I think it was pampers) but the last person I know who definitely had one was 3 years ago (I just used the one I already had for younger kid).

it was ok, but definitely not worth £30!!!

mswibble · 06/01/2015 13:23

Kismac - I ordered some of the Tots Bots EasyFits V4 from their website. They're seconds so were a bargain (£38 for 5 I think) but from my research the only defects are small print/colour errors or slightly wonky stitching, nothing to affect their performance. I got two packs and will see how I get on with them. I've also got loads of terries so looking at getting some Blueberry wraps but I think they will only get used on days where we at home all day. And I can't see my OH doing any terry origami but he's quite positive about the Tots Bots.
I too will be using disposables during the first couple of weeks. I have a large pack of Pampers Sensitive anyway as I need to buy them to get my freebie changing bag from Boots. I've heard Aldi nappies are fab too so will probably try them during the early days.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 13:24

re: thrush.

Men can take the pill form of anti-thrush treatment too, so I got that and cream for my fiance when he caught it off me. Sadly, us poor preggos can only use pessary and cream.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 13:25

Mrs Wibble, if you got the changing bag from boots, you got what they claim is £30 worth! LOL

I do wonder how many people actually buy one of them.

mswibble · 06/01/2015 13:28

Definitely do not buy the boots changing bag! £30 is laughable to be honest!
I just signed up to the Parenting Club online and then the next time I used my Advantage Card app the offer was already loaded ready to use. Think the nappies were £7odd but I would have bought some anyway so just looking at the bag as a bonus. I don't think you could fit much in it but it does come with a travel changing mat which I can see being quite handy.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2015 13:31

I thought the foam one was ok, you can buy it off the shelf in tesco can't you? If not I agree conditioner and a nit comb.

Have you tried drinking actimel type drinks Hidingthefear? I suffered a lot with thrush before I lost weight (put it down to the massive reduction in sugar that I don't anymore!) but always got it bad when I took antibiotics until someone recommended probiotic drinks to counter act them, works for me.

I always have had a higher sex drive than dh, I did mostly lose interest in first trimester as I felt so sick all the time but still managed once a week or he would complain. I feel very neglected the last few weeks with him being ill and now his dad dying he's really not in the mood. He knows I'd like it more but unlike your men I won't harass him, he'll come to me when he's feeling better. Positions are getting harder now and with my other two we ended up only managing with him behind me in the latter stages. We had 3 weeks without after ds2 and 4 with ds1 but managed other things to keep that intimacy which suited us both. Was terrified the first time after ds1 but all was fine!

Hopefully I've now sorted fil's funeral and everyone is happy. The lady taking the service is going to call dh this evening as I can't really tell them about his life as I've only known him 10years but I was surprised how much I was able to do. We will have a trip to the chapel of rest at the end of this week, funeral Monday and then another trip up to register the death when they have an appointment available which is 15/16th (but I may get away without having to go for that one).

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/01/2015 13:42

matalan have a maternity dress down to £7 and up to size 20

mswibble · 06/01/2015 13:45

I thoroughly recommend JoJo Maman Bebe. I got a big order from them this week and I am honestly thrilled with it all. Its all jersey stuff (mostly nursing/maternity tops) but the jersey is so thick and soft, fab quality. I got two of the wrap tops too which I am loving, so comfy and flattering.
Just looked at the Mamas & Papas sale too ... oooh, they have so much cute stuff! Might just place a teeny order...

TheBooMonster · 06/01/2015 13:51

tiny you've totally just reminded me I'm waiting on a delivery from them!! I ordered two tops on Wednesday (one in small one in medium as I was unsure about my size) and they're yet to arrive... New Years is a pita!
