Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 18th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 35th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

What the aching fuck!?!

I've just logged onto mothercare website during lunch to browse sale stuff. I thought of have a look at changing bags.

There are 180 changing bags! How the hell can there be 180 different types of thing to put changing stuff in!?

My eyes are well and truly opening...

TheBooMonster · 02/01/2015 12:45

and that isn't even all of them la they've got no pink lining bags :P

I think you probably need to decide what you're going to use the bag for. If you want to breast feed, you'll likely need less bottle pockets than with bottle feeding (but it's worth having one or two just in case) If you're using reusable nappies they individually take up more space than disposable nappies so you'll want a slightly bigger bag. If this is your first baby and you're likely to have another within 18 months - 2 years you'll probably want to think about something that can fit nappies for 2 babies if bump isn't toilet trained by the time baby 2 comes along.

Pisghetti · 02/01/2015 13:00

I've ordered this
Well, more accurately, my friend has ordered this as she offered to buy it for me Smile. The colour matches my pram (black and red) plus I plan to use a sling where possible so wanted something that didn't look too much like a changing bag. I like that it comes with all the bits you need (although to be honest I always used a nappy sack as a messy bag with DS) and it is about the right size and price. I find many changing bags are an awful lot of money for what you get.

Great tips gals thanks!

Right - more questions:

Which buggy have you all bought?
Which nursery furniture?

We are looking at mothercare nursery and silvercross buggy.

Pisghetti · 02/01/2015 13:32

I'm such a cheapskate Grin

Pram is second hand - it's an iCandy cherry with the basket attachment so it can be used from birth plus cosytoes and raincovers. It's in great condition.

Nursery furniture - my friend gave us a cot bed (white) and I'll be buying an ikea wardrobe (white from the Stuva range) and a white Kallax 2x2 shelving cube with Drona boxes in a couple of different colours to use as a changing table (read the idea on MN somewhere and liked it!). I doubt I'll be able to fit anything else in (the room is roughly seven foot by seven foot of usable space) plus the baby won't outgrow the furniture as a toddler/older child. My ten year old niece has Stuva furniture.

I had to be a cheapskate with DS as I was a poor student and had always thought my next child would have everything brand new and shiny! In the event I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for everything plus there are some financial complications on DP's side around timing so we don't have oodles of cash until the next financial year by which time we will need to have bought pretty much everything.

Anyone else wondering where Popz is....?

Oh and I've been particularly impressed by Kiddicare's service so thought I'd give them a good review! Agreed to price match the cabriofix car seat and next day delivery was free. I had a text and email early the next day apologising that the car seat wouldn't be delivered that day after all but had another text the following morning to say it was on its way and gave me the time (and even the driver's name) so I didn't have to wait in all day.

On the other hand Mothercare have yet to confirm if and when they plan to deliver my other car seats (ordered two days before the cabriofix)although they have taken payment.........

I've got a quinny travel system, I think it's the buzz but can't remember...whichever is the one down from the moodd Smile he will be having DDs furniture so a boori cot bed that I LOVE (2nd hand when I got DD), and a swing crib for before then. I've bought the mothercare snug Moses basket for him though in the sale as I gave DDs away- for use in front room on stand and for carrying around the house/ being in the garden/ summerhouse etc so I can still be around where DD is playing!

willywallace · 02/01/2015 14:00

Yes! I am wondering about Popz.

Thanks Kato, just got a few items from JL. They don't have much unisex stuff though but lots of lovely things if you know what you're having.

I have a storksak changing bag but not one of the expensive leather ones. It wipes clean and is big enough for everything. Came with a fold up changing mat, and bottle bag and food pouch. Also clips onto buggy. Have had really good use out of it and it will do for this one too.

We don't have much nursery furniture as the bedrooms are small. This baby has a second hand ikea cot and a cheap white ikea chest of drawers which used to belong to MiniWil. She now has my big one and I have nothing! That's all we'll have in the room except I'll move the nursing chair and footstool through eventually. MiniWil being a pfb though has an izzywotnot sleigh cotbed. Although I am sure we got money off it as we didn't pay £300. I can't remember what brand the nursing chair is, maybe kub?

Our buggy is an icandy apple. They are good in terms of mechanics although ours is a bit fucked due to taking on a plane and they obviously weren't careful with it.

willywallace · 02/01/2015 14:02

I also second Kiddicare for good service.

willywallace · 02/01/2015 14:03

Love Boori furniture Lauren.

Leela5 · 02/01/2015 14:08

Popz...? Poppppz......?

We all hope this silence is good news and are sending you lots of positive contraction-inducing thoughts!

Great answers there thank you! We are going to look at what we want on various shop websites them have a competition to see who can find it 2nd hand the cheapest!

laurenamium · 02/01/2015 14:17

I love boori stuff too wil Grin unfortunately I couldn't find any of the other furniture second hand so she's just got the cot bed, it's done well though. 4 years with DD and hopefully another 4 with baby. Not bad for £100! Grin

ZylaB · 02/01/2015 14:33

We got a bababing changing bag, it's go lots of good spaces in it, and is less girly so DH won't mind using it!

Pram will be the new uppababy vista 2015 when it arrives this month or start of next (comes with bassinet too)

Nursery furniture is mamas and papas chamberlain range. The wardrobe, dresser (with sides to use as changing station, but they come off when we don't need it for that) and cotbed. The cot converts into little bed and after that we're going to put a cot side back on it and use it as a little sofa for her, so her furniture won't be changed for years!

willywallace · 02/01/2015 14:38

Ha Zyla, that's how I talked myself into getting MiniWil's bed. But realistically we have no space to put a sofa/daybed plus a normal bed.

Fleurchamp · 02/01/2015 15:23

I am loving the look of the stokke sleepi cot/ cotbed. Not so keen on the price but I think it's going to be the only thing we buy new as most of our stuff (pram, bed nest co sleeper thing) will be borrowed from my sister.
Plus it goes with our spare room decor which is all skandi furniture Grin

KatoPotato · 02/01/2015 15:42

anote on changing bags, I spent about £100 on at pack iPod which was useless if you didn't put things in the pods in a very certain way you ended up with no space for anything else. DH Will not be happy when I tell him we have to buy a new one this time round but I refuse to struggle with the pacapod, and I sold our bugaboo one that matches the pram a few years ago

KatoPotato · 02/01/2015 15:50

Those pink lining changing bags are 30% off at John Lewis just now. (If they're your cup of tea .

Cymraes17 · 02/01/2015 15:59

We have a skip hop changing bag in black, big enough to hold a day and a half worth of washable nappies and a few bits. Also clips on to pram, not girly, came with change mat.
The pram is a phil&ted sport ( second hand, bought it when we found 3rd was on the way and 2nd was only 10 months) so we can push toddler and newborn at the same time as well as using it for 2 toddlers or as a single.
A pram that adapts for more children is worth looking into, esp if planning on having them close together.

TheBooMonster · 02/01/2015 16:29

still no pops?! no one can stay away from MN for that long without being at work or in labour surely? poooooooooppppppppppzzzzzzzzzzz we're dying to hear news!

willywallace · 02/01/2015 16:49

Just phoned up to try and rearrange a midwife appointment. She didn't even have me in the diary so bloody lucky I phoned. Now I have to go in an hour earlier on the same blooming day as it was the only appointment she had left that week. She really is not on the ball.

Need to go bra shopping tomorrow.

Indigoblue2 · 02/01/2015 16:49

Hi guys, hardly been on but just checking in to say had 8 week scan and everything was fine on weds. Saw heartbeat etc! Smile Although yesterday and today had minor brown spotting, they seem unconcerned as good scan and could be breakthrough bleed as 8 weeks. Just like brown watery cm. Not overly worried, fingers xed will stop soon!

Good luck popz if something happening!

Will be back on more soon when Xmas madness dies down Shock

minimooo · 02/01/2015 18:04

Great scan news Indigo Smile

La I'm looking at a Silver Cross pram too (the Silver Cross Pioneer has caught my eye mostly because of the enormous shopping basket! ). I think I'm just going to go back to the shop one last time to double check the folding mechanism and to make sure it fits in our car boot, but I'm almost at deciding point now. It's taken me ages because there's just so many to choose from!
I'll very likely just get the Silver Cross changing bag too.

After lots of kitchen shopping, we've decided against doing the kitchen now unfortunately it exceeds our budget Sad Oh well, it's lasted us 5 years as it is, so I'm sure we can live with it for a bit longer. Just not looking forward to the prospect of doing the kitchen with a baby in tow later on.....

I'm exactly 24 weeks today! Feels exciting and it's all getting quite real Shock

Has anyone else had achey ribs? Mine are really sore today when I breathe in.

minimooo · 02/01/2015 18:06

oh and I forgot to say, wil that's totally crappy of your midwife! Lucky you called her.

Leela5 · 02/01/2015 18:14

Wil that's poo of your mw! You want someone on the ball, not someone flakey :( I'm sorry

Mini I can't believe how quickly your times gone! I'm baffled by buggy choice but was swayed by the swanky promo video marketing works too well

Indigo that's brilliant news and once you've seen hb at 8 weeks your risk drops dramatically. Grin

I'm 12 weeks today but got another week to scan. Dulcet was your scan not today?

Where is popz?
