Hello all!

I'm new here, due a lovely July baby. Currently 11+4 with my first.

Scan is booked for the 30th.

Sickness has eased off now but I constantly need to pee and I'm full of gas all the time, it's painful!

As for the announcement, most people seem to know already, think that is down my over excited OH!

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 16:45

great news miss lovely scan pic. Welcome to the thread jen
Not bothered about students, I could have been one myself once upon a time Smile

Could hardly move this morning DP had to help me, the hip/pelvis stiffened up and was so painful. Got an appointment with a physio tomorrow + GP. I just want to walk without limping or in pain Sad. Spent the day sitting up and watching Kristmas with the Kardashians with a hot water bottle and deep heat patch Xmas Sad

Nausea not as bad, but still have the metallic taste in my mouth 11+4.

Anyone with the hip/pelvis pain, how do you sleep at night?

broodylicious · 22/12/2014 16:47

Now I'm with you fatty. Breastfeeding. Is. Not. For. The. First. Six. Weeks. Only. The WHO recommends two years at least. Don't get me wrong, it's hard work establishing it, you have to feed on demand and it's exhausting. But so worth it. I got fed up to the back teeth of people - including my mum - asking when I'll be stopping ("obvs soon", she'd say). Errr, when dd is ready thanks!! I breastfed til the week after she turned two but it was her decision and she just decided she'd had enough.

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 16:48

Welcome to the thread littledragon for ease of gas, go on all foursSmile it will come out.

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 16:49

Meant to ease of gas

naty1 · 22/12/2014 16:55

No pain but loud clicky hips since dc1. I wonder if it will mean labour is easier?
I think maybe i shouldnt have had stirrups.

I used the thrush treatment ergh! But no obvious issues. As i had no symptoms cant say i feel better

Pipbin · 22/12/2014 16:59

I asked the midwife about lack of symptoms. She said that the nausea etc can be caused by the body going into overdrive to create progesterone. I'm having a daily progesterone injection so my body isn't having to work so hard.

Fleur. When is your scan?

NotPennysBoat · 22/12/2014 17:07

How lovely to see all these scan pictures actually looking like babies now and not blobs!

Mine is booked for 6th Jan when I'll be 12+4, counting down the days! I've worked out that I'll finish my current box of prenatal vitamins on the 5th so my pack is now like an advent calendar counting down to my scan (pathetic, I know).

My nausea is definitely easing now, good job as I've got loads to do before Christmas day. Boobs getting even more tender though, DS gave me a very enthusiastic hug before which made me wince!

BadIdeaBear · 22/12/2014 17:21

brilliant advent calendar NotPennysBoat - like the thinking!

My NHS scan is on 6th - I'll be 13+3 by current measurement.

My good friend who is pregnant (who I just overtook in due date today - hehe) is having a panic as her nearly 2-year-old kicked her in the lower abdomen today. She has been cramping a bit... a 2 year old kicking couldn't cause major damage could he...?

itsnotthatdeep · 22/12/2014 17:22

ladies im 12+3 and I look 6 months pregnant Shock

I can't wait for my scan next monday, though I'm now paranoid it may be twins or I've got gestational diabetes or something.

As I'm so big and high my bra is really uncomfortable and I've been and done some sick cover at a salon so I'm rather pooped but happy.

Bustherb · 22/12/2014 17:27

Miss that's great news :-) also great news for the other ladies getting their scan dates/pics :-) has anyone tried travel sickness bands? My dr prescribed me sickness tablets but also advised on the travel sickness bands. So I've brought some today to try. I'm reluctant to take the tablets so hoping the bands work!

Have any of you ladies decided on whether you will carry on taking folic acid after 12 weeks?

Xx

Aretepetite · 22/12/2014 17:29

Badldea
Lovely scan pic of your little one Smile

fattycow · 22/12/2014 17:34

busther, I will keep taking folic acid, as it is in the pregnancy vitamins I'm taking.

Fleurchamp · 22/12/2014 17:40

pip I have a private scan on Xmas eve! Booked ages ago so that we can make announcement over Christmas to family. It will be obvious anyway if I do not drink.

My NHS scan is 6th Jan.

I am currently 10 + 2.

bust I used the bands for the couple of days of nausea I had, seemed to work but I only had a mild case.

I think I am going to carry on with pregnancy vitamins, they say on the box they can be used through the whole pregnancy.

I am wondering whether I am anaemic. I am so ridiculously tired, pale and keep getting blue lips. Booking in apt tomorrow. I will ask midwife.

misseskimo · 22/12/2014 17:47

Lovely pic badidea congrats on your good news also Smile

I'm so confused about my dates now. By this new measurement I'll have had a 26day cycle, which mine are always 31+2 spotting.

Aretepetite · 22/12/2014 17:47

Herb, I am still taking folic acid at 12+6. I'm going to continue until my next midwife appt anyway on 17/1 and take advice from her.

Welcome Little Dragon congratulations Xmas Smile

Joy I'm having lower backache caused by progesterone according to my Gp. I also have sore hips. Is there something pregnancy related that I should look out for?

Leela5 · 22/12/2014 17:49

Itsnotthatdeep I was the same, bought maternity bra on Friday and I'm sooooo much more comfortable!

Bus id read there's no need to take folic after first 12 weeks as it's no longer required?

Bad - if you look at where womb is it's tucked away right up inside you so baby is well protected. I doubt a 2 year old could kick hard enough to do any damage but if she's worried then she should get checked.

I very much doubt I'll bf until my child is 2 but I'm going to have a good stab at doing it for as long as I and my baby feel comfortable. No ones business but mine.

Don't have a problem with maiden name. It's just like the word surname or Christian name to me. Doesn't mean I'm a sur or a Christian! If you didn't take your dhs name then just don't fill in the maiden name box - your surname is still your surname and you therefore don't have a maiden name.

My scan is on jan 9th when I'll be 13 weeks.

10+3

Pipbin · 22/12/2014 17:57

Midwife today said that pregnacy hormones cause your muscles to lengthen and can cause hip and pelvic pain.

Naturegirl82 · 22/12/2014 18:09

I'll probably breastfeed till 1 again. Still going with dd1 but plan to finish on her first birthday as I'm just exhausted by working full time and still breastfeeding. I stopped expressing at work a few weeks ago and we have enough milk in the freezer to keep us going after 1 to help with the switch to cow's milk. I think she has only just stopped feeding at night because I'm pg. I would advise if you are planning on breastfeeding and it's your first (and even if it's not) to find a local breastfeeding support group. They will provide invaluable help and support before and during your breastfeeding journey.

miss I wouldn't worry about the dates. Not all women ovulate at day 14, they just assume that for ease. So your cycle may be 31 days and you ovulate on day 17 for example and the second half of your cycle could be shorter. Even if you are charting and using ovulation sticks it is still really hard to know when you ovulate. Also when you ovulate may not be when you conceived. I conceived two days after dtd this time as sperm can live for a while.

I'm really not well. Hoping it's not tonsillitis but my throat is really sore, can't swollow and have a temp Sad I've got far too much to do before Christmas. Think I'll see how I feel in the morning and maybe try and see the gp.

The sex/gender thing doesn't bother me. I know the difference but I think somethings you just have to let go. There are an awful lot of things people have misconceptions about and you just have to let them go but we each have our bug bears.

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 18:18

aretepetite definitely pregnancy related and caused by hormones. I am praying it does not continue all through out my pregnancy, difficult to get anything useful done.

The physio I am seeing specialises in women's health - muscoskeletal, hopefully she will sort me out, fx.

Hot water bottle does help and not standing and walking for long, defeats the purpose of staying active Confused I miss the gym and cycling Sad

How come some athletes don't get it, particularly runners? I heard Paula Radcliffe was running till about 6 months or so..

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 18:23

I hear bf helps with the tummy shrinking. Will definitely be bf for as long as I can to get my tummy down. Tummy tuck is more expensive than boob uplift Wink so small price to pay. Ha ha ha

Number3cometome · 22/12/2014 18:53

I am planning on breastfeeding again (fed DS and DD until 10 months each) but I have had breast uplift (full) and implants so we will have to see. I do have full sensitivity (fuck they are sensitive at the moment) but that's no guarantee. I will be prepared just in case.

I found breast feeding so much more convenient once established so I'm hoping!

Thepurplegiraffe · 22/12/2014 19:00

I bf until 11 months last time, and then I just didn't seem to have enough milk or I might have gone longer. She wasn't doing it that often by then anyway. My dsis is still going at 15 months though and my other at 21 months.
I am still being sick and feeling rotten here, just so glad to be off for Christmas, hoping to feel better by the time I go back. I was sick regularly until 23 weeks last time though, nauseous all the way through and sick again towards the end so not overly hopeful.
Great news about all the positive scans. I am 11+6 according to my previous scan though only 11+1 by dates so my nhs scan isn't until NY eve.

Littledragon13 · 22/12/2014 19:04

Has anyone else suffered with bad headaches? I've had a constant headache for a week now, I've avoided taking any paracetamol but I'm going to have to cave in I think.

I have low blood pressure so it's not high BP

TinyCaterpillar · 22/12/2014 19:06

Great pics badidea and miss! And welcome jen and littledragon.

Joy do you have a pregnancy pillow? I know some people swear by them but to be honest the best thing for me has been sleeping on a memory foam mattress and keeping my legs together - it really seems to help.

I'll definitely be breastfeeding again, I seem to have real trouble with the deliveries but BFing seems to come quite easy to me. It's so convenient and definitely helps shift the baby weight - I fed for over a year both times and ended up lighter than before pregnancy - and ate shed loads of cake - what's not to like?! Grin

I'm starting to feel better now, haven't felt properly sick for at least a few days now, yay! I'm 10+3 today.
