Ah....
Thanks for info Pip, Joy. I'm dreading the next few days in relation to hips/ back. It was in the morning I noticed it so will look at investing in a pregnancy pillow!

Nature fingers crossed that you are not laid up with tonsillitis, I feel your pain in having loads to do. Delegate as much as you can Flowers

I am intending to bf this lo and can't agree more with it helping the figure. I like your thinking Joy boobs being cheaper than tums to get sorted. Here's hoping.

It's really reassuring that you still have sensitivity after the op Nature :) there is hope....

Sorry to yous suffering with sickness and headaches, exhaustion & pain. Here's to getting into the 2nd trimester ladies Xmas Grin

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 19:35

Thanks Tiny heard about it and was only considering for it later but might have to now.

Hi little I have head aches as well, I ditched the paracetamol, did not make a difference, try drinking loads of water.

broodylicious · 22/12/2014 19:38

bad re the kicking toddler incident - if your friend is rhesus negative blood group, she must go to the GP or epu ASAP as she will need a shot of anti d. The kick may not have caused anything at all but she may bleed internally a little and that could be harmful to her and the baby.

bust, I'm taking a pregnancy multivitamin which has folic acid in it. I will take it throughout to cover me.

Just to follow up on my breastfeeding post... there's an awful lot of pressure on women to breastfeed these days ("breast is best" etc etc) but some women can't do it for medical reasons (drugs, PND) or simply don't want to. I believe you have got to make the right choice for you and your family, stuff whatever anyone else says. Yes, I had a great bfing experience and will defo do it again but my dsis and dm both couldn't make it work for them and I know they struggled with the pressure that was put on them, on top of adjusting to mummydom. Anyway, having re-read my post back and suffering pg paranoia I just wanted to apologise if I came on a bit strong or caused offence Blush

EskiDecaff · 22/12/2014 19:51

Anybody else's dh/dp just not excited? I've got my twelve week scan tomorrow, he's got the morning off to come along. There's been no mention of excitement although he did say he was looking forward to a lie in. Suddenly feeling all on my own! We've just bought a new place and moved in, wedding in feb and suddenly I feel like I don't even know him!

I've asked if he's excited and he says 'yeah course' hmm!

Tiptoeshoes · 22/12/2014 20:11

Eskidecaff he will be beside himself with excitement when he sees the scan. It is different for them, it's not directly happening to them. But when my dh saw the scan with my dd (now 2) he grinned from ear to ear.

My brother in law cried and he never cries.

Feeling so rough today. Nausea, vomiting and now diarrhoea. Don't know what to eat anymore. Jacobs crackers seems like the only thing I can bare.

When will the sickness end???ConfusedConfused

Hi All,

I'm new to mumsnet and after an out of the blue rush of sickness this evening after happily eating dinner (mostly been okay so far, little bit in the morning but not too regularly if I get toast quickly) I was looking for a little bit of reassurance/even more info than I've already read, which I'm glad to have found!

I'm currently 12+3 and due July 3rd with our first. Our dating scan is booked for Monday 29th, myself and OH are so excited to see them for the first time.

Glad to have found you all x

Pipbin · 22/12/2014 20:47

Welcome Sparkly. What a lovely time to have a scan!

WantToGoingTo · 22/12/2014 21:40

eski my DH wasn't the slightest bit bothered about going to the scan, but when we were in there he was raise himself with excitement, kept kissing me and even videoed it! And he shows the scan pic to anyone he can! So I wouldn't worry, I think it isn't real for them and they can't imagine it until they see it. For us we can feel the Hanes in our bodies but they are more distanced. :)

We told the pil yesterday, mil had guessed by fil had no idea. All DH siblings v happy and excited! Just my wider fam to tell at Xmas now... Eek!

Aibu to already be annoye at everyone I have told askin me how I am feeling? An asking me if I have made any further announcements since telling them? It is really gettin to me! Maybe just the hormones but I already feel like this prgnancy is public property. I hate being centre I attention! Wa the same when I got engaged gah, loved it once it all calmed down but hated the hype to begin with!

9+3 so bloated but otherwise sickness has gone! Boobs hurting like a bitch and my coat is now too tight across chest and already need to go shopping for new bras... Never did I think I would reach a C cup!

Hope you ladies all having lovely Xmas so far, great to see all the good scan news. Good luck to those with scans in next couple of days and keep us updated on the family announcements :)

Leela5 · 22/12/2014 21:45

I've forgotten how it feels to not feel rough all day. I love that I'm pregnant but oh god am I wishing I could be past this bit

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 21:49

Hi broody I did not think you did Smile , I personally don't believe in the if you bf your child will be Einstein Smile my mum is a medical doctor and she says the only reason bf is advocated for longer by WHO is for women in less privileged countries that live in unhygenic conditions. It is the only way the growing baby can be protected from diseases until their immune system is well developed. We don't have that here, so bf is a choice, and I agree with you and no one should be made to feel guilty by their choice. A friend of mine did not bf and her son started walking at 10 months Grin

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 21:54

tiny our mattress is memory, but does not make a difference. I will try keeping my legs together, hoping for a reasonable night sleep fx. Here was me thinking my sleep difficulty will come later Sad

misseskimo · 22/12/2014 22:23

Welcome sparkly feel free to add yourself to our stats list (in second post of this thread), see if you have any due date buddies. Same goes for littledragon and jen and anyone else knew to the thread I have missed! Smile

joy I've been having terrible sharp pains in my lower back, and also painful cramping at the front behind my hips for the past couple of days now. Not to mention sciatica down my left side which is making sitting and laying in any position uncomfortable. Been taking paracetamol and doesn't even take the edge off. Two things I have found help though. Heat - As you've already mentioned, hot water bottle to the areas is my current life-saver... But at night, the only thing I have found to take the edge off, though it certainly does not "cure" it, is to lay on my side in a semi-curled fetal position, and put a pillow (just a normal one) in between my legs. I personally found the thicker the pillow the better, as the first one I was using was quite thin and didn't work very well, plus I found if I put it in diagonally so that it starts just below the knees, and then comes up quite close to my body and stops just under the stomach (any higher and it hurts my stomach as bump isn't big enough to go OVER a pillow yet, so it kinda just collides which is uncomfortable). I've found this to be the best remedy, but as I said, it doesn't completely take the pain away, some nights are better than others.

I did however have a Dr tell me the other day that I could use an ibuprofen based gel on my back and legs to help relieve some of the pain. I haven't done it yet, but did buy some just in case. Dr said that as only a minimal amount is actually absorbed, and its only generally absorbed into the local area, he said it would be fine... Food for thought.

bustherb I have been using sickness bands for about 3 weeks now. Part of me thinks it's a bit of a psychological thing, but in most cases they have worked for me. I was wearing them all day everyday for about a week as I was constantly nauseous before, and after a day I started feeling better, then as soon as I took them off in the evening, or for a break (they hurt my wrists after a while) I would start to feel nauseous again... Again, could be a mind trick, but they've mostly worked for me, I've got the boots own brand ones which were about £9.

Bustherb · 22/12/2014 22:41

Thanks everyone for the replies on sickness bands and folic acid. Miss - I brought those ones from boots today, I have to say since wearing them this evening I feel normal again Shock like you say could be psychological but who cares if they help Wink did you find it hard to position them in the right area, says between the 2 main arteries but I have really deep arteries and veins so finding I'm just sticking them around half way across my wrist where I think they should be xxx

misseskimo · 22/12/2014 23:04

Yea I've had trouble too. My left wrist seems to adjust fine, but the right one always hurts, can never seem to get it right. But my right wrist arteries are alot wider than my left, as in about triple the gap. So maybe that's why? I usually have to adjust it a couple of times during the day. Does leave massive marks on your wrists though, so don't wear before your going out in a short sleeved top! Hmm

naty1 · 22/12/2014 23:26

Joy pretty sure walking early isnt linked to high iq. Though maybe crawling for a long time might be.

JoY007 · 22/12/2014 23:30

Thank you miss I will give it a go tonight, was in tears moments ago DP had to calm me, just feel so useless Sad.

itsnotthatdeep · 23/12/2014 00:25

SPARKY im your due date and scan twin Grin

Naturegirl82 · 23/12/2014 00:52

Feel like I'm really complaining but my ear temp is 38.9 after paracetamol. Not sure what else to do. Worried a high temp might hurt the baby.

Leela5 · 23/12/2014 06:57

Nature - cool damp flannel on head might help bring temp down? Have you had flu jab yet?

EskiDecaff · 23/12/2014 07:16

Thank you wantto and tiptoe, will keep my fingers crossed.

Wishing everyone a relaxing day!

EskiDecaff · 23/12/2014 07:18

Nature-can you have a bit of a duvet day? Try not to panic. Your body is smart it will look after the baby

Leela5 · 23/12/2014 07:20

I would definitely agree - don't panic. Call mw for advice if your temp is still high

Naturegirl82 · 23/12/2014 08:22

I'm off to the Dr's this morning so will see what they say

Zampa · 23/12/2014 08:23

Nature Obviously not a doctor, but I did read that the dangerous temperature threshold fur baby was 40 degrees plus (and that's a seriously high temperature. You'd be very very poorly). Get some proper advice and rest up.

Fleurchamp · 23/12/2014 08:42

I have my booking in appointment in an hour, eeek! Have my wee and my notes in my bag.

Feeling a bit nervous!!
