There'll be no nursery for me either as live in a completely open plan 'loft style' apartment. It's essentially one (albeit quite large) space with a mezzanine bedroom overlooking the downstairs. The only room with walls is the bathroom which is where the cat gets shut in through the night if it's being annoying... It's been amazing to live in for the last few years but it's so incredibly baby unfriendly! We are planning to get somewhere more grown up asap (eg, somewhere with walls and separate rooms) but until then, there'll be no escaping baby! Aagghhh!!!!

m33r · 25/11/2014 07:47

gudgy where did you get your stencil? I saw my idea for a 'sweet dreams' one at a friends but asked them where they got it and it was a (very original) christening pressie so am no further forward. Thanks!

theonewiththenoisychild · 25/11/2014 08:44

morning ladies. well i feel like i could fall asleep this morning. but going to see the inlaws today and then shopping and then after i pick up dc's from school me and oh and dc's are going to our gender scan together. cant wait to find out finally and hopefully agree on a name Grin then we are going somewhere for tea. i think as soon as i have put dc's to bed tonight i will be asleep myself

Gudgyx · 25/11/2014 10:28

I dont have it yet meer, I saw it online so I just know thats the one I want. Its a transfer for the wall as well as opposed to a stencil, but I'll see if I can find the link for you.

Just found this one, they might do a 'personalised' stencil

www.thesimplestencil.com/vinyl_wall_lettering_transfers/136/baby_nursery.html

This is the one I want!

I think in white though for the pink wall, or pink for one of the white walls depending on where we put the cot.

M27J5M · 25/11/2014 10:34

M33r go onto eBay, got plenty of stencils/wall stickers at good prices, I got the 1s for DS bedroom from there and we're all great! Think I paid just under £40 for 5 big 1s (pirate themed room) and 2 of them were personalised

KeeperOfTheZoo · 25/11/2014 11:49

Durham how annoying. I can sympathise with you as I took DS for his 2 year developmental check last week (he's nearly 2 1/2 but they're running very behind with them). We arrived 10 mins before our appointment time but then after 1hr 10mins of sitting there I asked if the HV even knew we were there - to be told no, she didn't know we were there as she didn't have us on her list!! Angry. I wouldn't mind but they were the ones who sent me the letter, telling me what date and time to be there! Fortunately DS was still cooperative and was brilliant but I was really annoyed with them.

We're going down the wall sticker route for DS's new room I think, then this little one can go into the nursery (it is neutral as we didn't know what we having last time or this one either). Need to get shopping!

tannyLoo · 25/11/2014 13:34

26 weeks today, and into 3rd tri! Exciting times!!!

DurhamRed · 25/11/2014 16:50

Had a phonecall from my midwife today apologising for the way the clinic behaved yesterday ( she was not happy!). Apparently the replacement midwife yesterday couldn't log onto the system so wasn't prepared to see anyone. The clinic pushed her out of the backdoor so we wouldn't see her leave...How bad is that?!?

My midwife has now rearranged my appointment for Monday morning, so at least i don't have too long to wait now.

Rainbow555 · 25/11/2014 20:23

Have reached the 24 weeks milestone, feel pleased about that!

Glad she sorted another appt for you Durham!

We will be moving in 2 weeks and so one of the rooms will be nursery. We were thinking of Winnie the Pooh themed, the traditional ones, with the wall decal "sometimes the smallest things take up most room in your heart" or something like that. But not completely decided, think I will, wait till we get there. We could also wait until baby is born and we know what team!

theonewiththenoisychild · 25/11/2014 20:42

hi ladies. we have been to our gender scan this evening and....... its a boy Grin and he has massive feet and it seems like he is shy because he had his hands over his face Grin oh well at least his legs wernt crossed today. ds was glued to the screen after the scan all he kept saying was i love the baby.... awwwww bless him. dd wasnt happy at first but she is coming round to the idea now

Gudgyx · 25/11/2014 22:09

Aw theone how lovely!! How cute of your ds also, bless him

m33r · 25/11/2014 22:10

Hurrah theobe and congrats rainbow!!!

Twittwooo · 26/11/2014 06:40

That's lovely theone, and congrats rainbow. I have to be honest and say I'm not sure how many weeks I am exactly, but I think around 23! Must check. Is anyone else still exhausted and run down all the time? Aside from the really bad cold and loss of voice I had last week, I'm constantly sniffling and so tired! No complaints though, it's all part of it. Just much harder with a toddler in tow! Anyone else getting very excited about Christmas? It's all nativity and festive plans at school, we've booked a Santa visit for out little girl and I'm seriously thinking about present shopping now (yes, I'm probably a lot less organised than some of you!) What are you all doing over the festive season?

theonewiththenoisychild · 26/11/2014 07:48

twitt im exausted all of the time
i have a 7yo and a 4yo. oh does send me off for a nap when he is at home because its constant sometimes i get up exausted Sad yesterday was one of those days and i had a very busy day.

Butterpuff · 26/11/2014 09:13

Hello All,

Exciting to hear about nursery decorating plans. MIL asked if she could paint pictures on bumps wall, so I guess we will be having a decorated nursery.

Rainbow we moved at 26 weeks! My advise is to make sure your chairs are unpacked quickly so you can sit down frequently, we all found it exhausting.

Cute family theone and exciting to know now.

Also getting excited about Christmas twit I think we may be mad but a week Saturday we have 14 friends round for a 4 course Christmas dinner that I am cooking - its traditional that we get Christmas started at our house. Trouble is we haven't really unpacked from the move yet, and I am just getting over a cold and getting quite tired. SIL has offered to come round and help me with the cooking but still, its going to be a tiring weekend.

In other exciting news. My cousin had a baby boy last night 10 days early. She continues the pattern of first child being a boy, I wonder if I will joint them or mix it up by having a girl first.

KeeperOfTheZoo · 26/11/2014 11:04

Rainbow we have that exact decal in DS's room! We love it!

I too am still exhausted but now know why - doctor rang me yesterday about my latest blood results and she says she's not really very happy with how quickly (or slowly in my case) my iron levels are rising. My booking bloods at 9 weeks had my levels at 8, and now, after more than 3 months of being on iron tablets, they've only risen to 10. She says she would like to see them up at 15+ ideally but it doesn't look like that's going to happen before the end of this pregnancy.

My white blood cell count is also elevated but they don't know why. At the moment it's being put down to another one of those "pregnancy things" and as they have dropped ever so slightly (from 15 last month to 14 this month) they're just going to re-test in a few weeks (the norm is 10 apparently).

Is anyone else battling to get a toddler out of a cot and into a bed? DS was sleeping relatively well in his cot, but since taking the side off it seems that every time he wakes up in the night (can just be once, but sometimes 3 or 4 times) he immediately runs into us in a panic and it can be really difficult to get him to go back into his own bed. He goes to bed brilliantly and loves being around/playing on the bed during the day so I don't really want to take a step backwards and put the side back on, but this isn't helping with the feelings of exhaustion! Don't know what else to do except persevere and hope it's a phase that will end soon.

theonewiththenoisychild · 26/11/2014 11:48

rainbow we moved into this house when i was about 25 weeks. we had 2 removal men plus dsil and dbil and oh's niece and nephew helping out. the niece stayed firmly by my side helping me unpack while everyone else brought things into the house. when the removal men were gone people got to work on arranging furniture setting up electrical things and i unpacked all mine and oh's clothes and put them in the wardrobes. dsil popped home to prepare food for everyone so we didnt have to cook. by 7pm i had bright red swollen feet and back ache but everything was unpacked so i had a bath and went to bed Grin we didnt have nuch back then tho. i dont think it would be as easy now

theonewiththenoisychild · 26/11/2014 11:49

sorry i meant about 25 weeks with our first

Butterpuff · 26/11/2014 14:37

Can I ask if I am normal?

So far DH and I have not bought a single item for the baby (except a random bag of 'bargains' my DH found at work which we haven't even looked at yet and don't know what is in there). We haven't done any window shopping or internet searches and we haven't mentioned a single name suggestion. At 27.5 weeks should be have done more by now, are we odd?

fishfingerSarnies · 26/11/2014 14:49

Hey everybody, lost you guys for ages.
Excitng news about nursery painting and gender discoveries.

No nursery painting for us as he'll have to share with my dd her room is yellow and blue, I was supposed to paint sunflowers on it but never got round to it.

Dh home on Sunday after 3 months away Ahhhh I can't wait, he leaves again on the 4th of jan for another 3 months but trying not to think of that, we are off to Wales for Xmas well for the whole of December really to stay with dh family. Looking forward to a month off from doing everything.

Amazing how many of us have the same story, failed induction failure to progress followed by csection. Definitely pushing for elecs this time especially as dh wont be here to support.

Not much movement here compared to pregnancy with dd or maybe I'm not so caught up in noticing them. I had a fall the other day, my dog knocked me over in the park got a bit worried as I felt no movement for about 3 hours but he started kicking late that night. Since then I've been trying to notice when he kicks and when he doesn't, definitely seeing patterns though there's huge times of the day where he's not so active. Hoping this means I will have a nice chilled out sleepy baby! Ha

Have hit the 24 week mark which is nice though dh and I decided we would ask them not to fight for babys life at this point.

Sorry for the long post.

ZylaB · 26/11/2014 16:41

As there's been lots of nursery info, ours is painted pale purple on 3 walls, and white on another which will have this transfer thingy on it when I'm sure the paint has dried enough :)

She's our first though so I'm making it pretty, probably more for me than the baby hehe :)

theonewiththenoisychild · 26/11/2014 18:03

butterpuff its upto you when you start shopping for baby. theres no right or wrong time to start

M27J5M · 26/11/2014 20:24

SurfsUp1 · 27/11/2014 00:37

Butterpuff I don't know how you resist, on the name thing at least - are you in denial!?? Grin Wink

Jannywannywoohoo · 27/11/2014 08:50

butterpuff we haven't bought one single thing either! We don't plan on getting anything until the new year, although we have decided and test driven a pram! We are really waiting till we (hopefully at some point) move house, but have had two sets of buyers pull out on us now arrrrgh. Angry So we'll just be getting the absolute minimum.... Except for lil outfits !!

The nursery ideas sound fab, I love the wall stickers at 'not on the high street' but again, we're waiting till we move!!
