BHLS is sitting at hospital getting super bored and cross with DP who insists on remaining under her feet. We need to send her speedy labour vibes!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 24/11/2014 20:29

Yep that is exactly what I am doing! Pessary in at ten this morning. just sent DP home "to get some sleep". He was doing my head in with his fidgeting. Currently bouncing on gym ball. A lot. :)

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 24/11/2014 21:59

Aha have spoken to BHLS. She needs a cheerleading team outside the hospital. How quickly can we organise ourselves?

Hey carlene, welcome!

I've had late pregnancy hypertension for a couple of weeks now. On/off protein but pre eclampsia blood tests negative so just monitoring. I sit around 145/95 at the moment but think some of it is stress of being in hospital, and they do occasionally set me up (like not letting me wee!) haha!

Hoping it stays stable, I'm due 3/12 so not long left! Fingers crossed yours will not cause issues either :)

CatFaceCrayola · 24/11/2014 23:58

Earlier I sat on the floor briefly (maybe not my wisest idea) but my right hip entirely seized up...just would not move and mega painful! DH managed to get me up and deposited me in the bath. Feels way better although still aches.

however now whenever I move there is clunking in my hips and back

Lucy90 · 25/11/2014 07:13

Morning ladies how is everyone today? I finally got rid of those pains by having a warm bath and then insisted on a massage from OH Grin

Cuppachaplz · 25/11/2014 08:28

Hoping for smooth and speedy eviction today BHLS
Baths are cure alls, I think. Stuck on the OAU ward so can't have one, and they have forbidden the hw bottle too (even microwave one) Sad
Hoping to escape or get a plan today...

carlene1987 · 25/11/2014 09:55

Hi AziziRose,

Good to hear your blood test came back negative. How long did they keep you in hospital? I bet that was a bit naff! Fingers crossed it does stay stable for you :) Indeed you haven't got long left at all; just over a week - yeah!

I really think my MW is being a bit lax about my situation. My best friend is a MW in a different trust and is horrified that they haven't done any blood tests to confirm or deny PE. My MW has advised me to keep track of my own symptoms and contact MAU if I'm concerned, including tracking my own BP and then not telling me at which point I would have to call...I'm a student nurse so I think she's just resting on that which is ridiculous really. I have no idea about midwifery and although I have some medical knowledge, I should not be responsible for my own antenatal care. I find it all bizarre and worrying...not helping the BP. I have an appointment on Friday with the MW and will demand that she does a blood test if I'm still symptomatic.

Best of luck BHLS on your induction Flowers

Glad to hear your pains subsided Lucy, and good luck for your escape/plan today Cuppachaplz.

Cuppachaplz · 25/11/2014 13:19

That does sound bad carlene
Do you gave lots of symptoms?
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Docs this morning want to keep me in whilst having tightenings with very painful and reactive scar... Not happy if this means they plan to sit on me for weeks, but DH's interpretation was that they think delivery might fe imminent.
However balancing- saw neonatologist re downs, brain lesions and small size. SCBU v likely at thus stage, so keen to cook for as long as possible.
Seeing dermatologist re weird bleeding hand lesions and then hopefully a plan :D

I've not been allowed my clexane today, which might mean they think something is imminent...

Cuppachaplz · 25/11/2014 16:22

So, they just told me I'm lighter than at my booking in appointment.

I want to point out that I am heavier than at discharge post sepsis 3w ago, but I'm worried that if I rock the boat and upset them I will no longer be down for the extra chocolate that surely news like thus means I am written up for? WinkGrinGrin

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/11/2014 17:57

Well, I weighed myself and I've put on 6kg since second trimester weigh-in Shock hoping that around 10lbs of that is baby/fluid/placenta...

Can i ask what you ladies are doing to prepare grooming wise for labour? (As in waxing/shaving etc)
On another note, finished all my xmas shopping today, even got tags and cards so im disproportionately proud of myself Grin

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/11/2014 18:19

I'm not doing anything to my bikini line; but then I never do. I have had insane hyper-growth of hair on my thighs, so I've been saving that up to do soonish. If I'd removed it before now it would have grown back immediately and I just don't care enough to keep on removing hair. If it all happens before I get the chance, I really don't care that much.

Is everyone else going the whole hog?

OP posts:
Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/11/2014 18:26

Here's a disgusting question for you... Is losing mucus related to how soon labour might come along? Google says you can start to lose it for weeks before labour, and it's been about a week for me tomorrow. I would really love to go into labour at around 38/39 weeks (35+3 today), so I do hope it's indicative!

I've got my return epic journey tomorrow; leaving the house at 6:15am Confused

OP posts:
kusmile · 25/11/2014 18:53

Don't know anything about mucus plugs. But I don't think it's a disgusting question.

Re: grooming, it strikes me as a good idea to give everything a good prune so the little guy doesn't, er, tangled or anything (sorry for the mental image!), but my only options are to get DP to do it or go to get it waxed.

37+4 today. It just sunk in today that the due date is the week after next. My god. I've pretty much organised stuff for my hospital bag, and we went to get a car seat fitting yesterday, only to find that John Lewis didn't have the seat and base we chose in stock and the seat will take 7 days for delivery. Might be cutting it a bit fine here. Blush

Lucy90 · 25/11/2014 18:57

Ive been 'tidying' along the way but its definitely getting more difficult now my bump has reached mammoth proportions! Ive kept on top of shaving legs so they will only be a bit prickly at worst!
Peace i lost my plug on sunday and im 36+1, i would really love the baby to come before christmas so i dont have to worry about going into labour on christmas day Shock

espa · 25/11/2014 19:58

I've been doing a bit of trimming with a bikini trimmer as I go though this weekend's was trickiest yet. My SIL (medic regularly working in mat units) told me to make sure I've booked in for a wax beforehand! Trying to work out when's best based in due date - maybe 10 days before? But then if I go early.. Shock

espa · 25/11/2014 20:00

But in answer to the question it would be to neaten up the sides and def not the whole hog!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/11/2014 20:00

Why did she advise you to wax? Related to stitches or something?

OP posts:
espa · 25/11/2014 20:04

Weight - my mw weighed me last week and I'd put on 17kg since booking in (bmi of 24). I weighed myself on Sunday and I'd put on another 2kg...devastated when I'd only put in 2kg at 20 weeks!

I put on a reasonable amount of weight after we got married due to injury preventing me running / doing much exercise and now really concerned about how I'm going to lose it all post baby as I still have the same problem. Sad

espa · 25/11/2014 20:05

Just that nobody wants to see a big bush, I think!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/11/2014 20:13

Ohh, glad it wasn't anything medical haha!

OP posts:
espa · 25/11/2014 20:18

No, don't think so!

So my baby has been pretty quiet today. Still feeling some movements but overall not as many as normal and certainly not as many as yesterday where they were the biggest wriggler ever and trying to escape out the front of me. Don't really want to phone the hospital at this time of night...

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/11/2014 20:26

Ten movements in two hours, Espa? Have you tried all the usual sugar, ice, rolling over, etc?

OP posts:
espa · 25/11/2014 20:41

Yep, latest attempt is cold drink and getting a few movements now. probably had 10 in two hours but it's just a marked difference to what I normally feel. I'm so tired too I actually just want to go to bed.
