I've seen the group for May or June, but are there any other definite Junes yet?
Been getting faint positive lines for a few days but today have got a definite line, giving me a due date of around 6th June :)

Trying to stay cautiously optimistic at the moment as we had an MMC in May at 8 weeks.

So, who else is out there? :)

Apologies for all the typing errors there... I am not concentrating! Blush

Welcome and congratulations ladies x

Feeling a little worried as DH and I went out for breakfast this morning while DS was at nursery. Literally the second I put my knife and fork down I remembered that undercooked eggs are a no no, and mine were a little on the runny side. Right to worry or will it be ok?!

cuphat · 06/10/2014 15:14

Don't worry! Last time, I ate a runny egg the day before my BFP but all was fine.

fortywinx · 06/10/2014 15:29

Congrats on BFP zaccaryquack! One of the first things I did when I found out was to check the NHS "Foods to Avoid" list, and to my surprise found out that quite a few things that I thought were banned no longer appear to be. Seafood is fine so long as it's cooked, mould ripened cheese is fine so long as its been cooked, raw fish sushi is fine so long as it's been frozen (it suggests that any sushi bought pre-packaged should be fine as it'll have been frozen) and Mr Whippy ice creams are fine! Cured meats are now an advisory rather than an outright no. I myself was happy about the sushi and seafood XD

Hi all - great to see even more people joining us and my commiserations for those dealing with nausea and other grotty symptoms, but as we've been saying - at least it means we're pregnant!
I've been feeling a bit more sicky and headachy - a bit like a mild but persistent hangover, which feels a bit mean as I'm starting to really crave a glass of red!

Just wanted to share a little rant at the totally rude receptionist at my midwife centre - tried to move my booking in appointment forward and she was wilfully unhelpful, nearly and generally the archetypal 'computer says no' - I explained having had an early MC in July I was keen to see a midwife before 11 weeks. She didn't react to this at all, and kept repeating 'You are being seen before 12 weeks, which is within our targets'
Cue me patiently explaining I wasn't saying the current appointment was unreasonable, I was only enquiring as to the possibility of moving it earlier you brain dead jobsworth
Finally, with an actual, audible huff, she moved it forward two weeks.
Last straw was when I said "great, will that be at the same time?" and she snapped "no THREE THIRTY" like I was a total retard for not guessing the new time?!

I'm hoping this is just one of that breed of sarcastic bovine receptionists the NHS seem to unfailingly employ, but if it's the sign of things to come I wonder if a hospital change in order...
Felt really shaken at the end and I'm actually not as panicked after MC now as I might be - kept thinking if it was someone in a really upsetting or worrying situation they would have felt completely disempowered. Really you think in an antenatal unit they might have receptionists with at least a shred of compassion and dynamism?!

Rant over

Is smoked salmon still allowed? Confused I do find all this you can and can't do a bitter pill to take. It was much easier to have a baby 17 years ago when I started.

That's awful, perpetual. I must say that I just felt like a number before 12 weeks, they didn't seem to care much before then. Will see how it goes this time.

Exciting news about Mr Whippy, I avoided them last time! Though it says they must be made from pasteurised stuff. I felt like an idiot asking about stuff like that (ie with cheeses) last time. The one time I didn't, I ordered a goats cheese pizza as cooked goats cheese was fine and for the first time ever it was goats cheese which came with the rind (which is a big no no) so I couldn't eat any of the cheese.

PerpetualStudent · 06/10/2014 17:09

Thanks ladies -wishing you happy and helpful receptionists!

I'm trying to stay away from most things that even have potential to be banned right now (apart from daily mug of coffee) more out of superstition than actual risk - but most things I read seem to suggest that as long as danger items are either thoroughly cooked or frozen then they're alright.

I'm just short of 6 weeks today, by Wednesday I will have 'got further' than last time - little goals!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 06/10/2014 18:12

I've had a bloody awful day today. But dh just made it all better by grabbing me on the way out to work. He's already been at work 5am-5pm, now doing the night shift, gave me a big cuddle and saying, how's my baby today? Thought he meant me, but he meant little bean. Made me laugh again.

htf2 · 06/10/2014 18:28

Oh I'm sorry perpetual that doesn't sound fun! I lose it at those people - honestly. I would have been 'Really, was I supposed to read your mind?' that said I don't even have an appt yet... midwife unit (hopefully a friendly midwife/receptionist) should call and set one up in the next two weeks according to the GP. Smoked salmon is allowed on everything I have read Mrs E, I'm pretty happy about it! and that is very sweet of your DH to be able to be so cute between doing double shifts :) I'm one of 6 children and the youngest was spoilt rotten by all of us.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 06/10/2014 19:20

Hooray for smoked salmon!!! Grin That's made my day. Dh is not really a romantic but he has moments where he says completely the right thing. I have just burnt 7 cooking apples to the bottom of the saucepan, so I think we can say after today's blunders baby brain has well and truly kicked in. Shock

Kyz · 06/10/2014 20:40

Smugfearnleyshittingstool · 06/10/2014 21:05

Hi KYZ my edd is 11/6 (dp's birthday)
Like others I'm feeling tired but no other symptoms yet :/ lots of crotchwatch here too! Had a lovely glowstic bath ( pound shop glow sticks and lights out) with dd2,4 tonight, she snuggled in to my Tum and I remembered breast feeding her in the bath as a newborn, fingers crossed I'll be doing that again next summer!
I'm finding it hard keeping quiet though, seeing work friends today that share everything together was very hard. Roll on 12 weeks.

notsoold · 06/10/2014 23:45

Thanks kyz my edd is 13th June so my details are 43 ( I thought I was 44 but dh corrected me) 3 dcs dd 20yo, ds1 15yo and ds2 11 months. Thanks....xx

notsoold · 07/10/2014 07:18

Ooohhhh funally a symptom!!! Instead of saggy tits now I have tender saggy titsGrinGrin
Good morning to all of us.

notsoold · 07/10/2014 07:19

I meant finally.....

Phryn · 07/10/2014 08:00

Morning all.

Thanks for the bad dream reassurance yesterday. The crazy dreams continue (crashing a party at Stephen Fry's underground house) but that one was amusingly weird not scary.

Totally get what other ladies are saying about it feeling strange not to tell friends. We're telling people bit by bit, but it feels different this time as we told our close family and my best friend quite early in the last pregnancy. Then we were very open about the mc. Haven't told everyone who knows we mc'd about this pregnancy yet. I think it will get easier and more natural when (trying to be positive and not say if!) we get passed the 8 week mark (which we didn't last time).

Booked a private scan for 1st Nov (at 8.3). I don't want to wish my life away but hurry up October! Smile

MrsExtraOrdinary · 07/10/2014 10:21

I contacted my old doula yesterday and we are going to have a bit of a debrief from my last birth. She helped me with a perfect delivery on baby4. 5 was a bit of a disaster. So she's going to talk me through it. Also contacted an independent midwife. I'm determined to know my options before I even embark on being booked in.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 07/10/2014 10:34

And think I'm into next big symptom other than tiredness, I'm really really itchy!

Smugfearnleyshittingstool · 07/10/2014 11:08

Oh I'm very itchy too mrs ex!

Chookford · 07/10/2014 11:33

Thanks Kyz

Is anyone sort of burying their head in the sand a bit? I am finding that to cope with the stress I am pretending that this isnt really happening! Its to combat the crazy person that is trying desperately to burst out of me... I am terrifed! If it is just me I shall sit quietly in the corner rocking... Grin

silversixpence · 07/10/2014 12:21

Getting some more sickness and felt really tired last night - usually a night owl but went to bed at 10!

I had some tiramisu at my sisters on Sunday - DH was giving me looks Grin I only really stick to not eating liver during pregnancy and not so cautious about the rest. I am trying to cut down on tea though.
