Wuthering - also agree that a check up would give you the answer. What if you haven't mc and bean is still there, and you don't know either way. Hope you get checked over your midwife doesn't have X-ray eyes does she?

I'm still feeling yucky but hey ho on I plod! Have my booking tomorrow too, excuse to skive off work for a few hours!

Mslad · 08/10/2014 20:06

Does anyone know why most people wait until 12 weeks for scan/to share pregnancy news? I'm assuming statistically there's less chance of an mc after 12 weeks, but I don't really know why. Here in Holland, they like to scan you at 10 weeks, which seems really weird to me, being so used to 12 weeks. I feel like I still wouldn't rest assured at 10 weeks (and would still be reluctant to tell work). So I pretended I wasn't sure of my dates, so I will be only 9 weeks when scanned and therefore will get to come back for another one at 12.

tits thanks for setting up the group, I will definitely take part after my scan Smile

Kyz · 08/10/2014 20:16

Evening all, felt rough as a badgers arse the past few days hence not being on much

aberjen i know the feeling, i feel hideously nauseous and the hungrier i get the worse the sickness is but the thought of eating anything just serves to make it worse!

bless you Ameilius hope you feel better soon

Tits i've added you on fb, I thought I had anyway from Nov 12 group!

I didn't start until alot later than I am now sunshine with MS last pregnancy. Though with ds I mostly just felt sick and was rarely actually sick. Tbh sometimes it felt like if i just gave over and was sick it would sod off!

fluffeh i have the sicknes all the time too :( it's driving me nuts but I kbow if it disappeared i'd panic

hopefully they'll back down tits

wuthering I am so sorry you're going though this but have to agree with the other ladies, I really feel they should be doing a scan to say exactly what's going on rather than just assuming the worst - do look after yourself in any case xx

KittyVonCatsington · 08/10/2014 20:20

Good luck at the booking appointment whinnie!

Mslad I think it is just because people 'do',if you see what I mean?! After the 12 week scan, the chance of mc drops to 0.1%. Also, might it be because you have a pic to show by then, in the UK and it seems more real? However, I do know women who announce prior to that if you are wanting to announce it after 10 weeks. Smile

I think the risk of mc goes down and down the further on you are. I'm still terrified. Just found out a friend has had a mc at 5 weeks tonight. I just can't wait for that scan.
I've started with nausea though the last few days. I think it's because of pregnancy anyway. I basically feel like I'm going to hurl until I eat my breakfast then it goes away. Is that what others have?
I didn't have it at all last time.

BeanCalledPickle · 08/10/2014 20:56

Risk of miscarriage goes down after 12 weeks, though it is fairly minimal after 8 weeks if you've seen a heartbeat. I think it's more that at 12 weeks it's fully formed so they can scan for any issues. They can only do the nuchal fold test at 11-13+6 weeks which is why you have to be scanned in that window.

Depending on your view of that process I guess you make different decisions going forward. For us, we wouldn't continue if there were big issues. But that's just us. So we wouldn't want to announce until we know we are all good just to be on the safe side. I would however tell anyone I would tell in the event things weren't right, if that makes sense.

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/10/2014 20:56

I've bad more nausea over the last couple of days than I have in previous weeks. I also have the most foul taste in my mouth whatever I eat/drink which doesn't help.

My sister had her 20 week scan today, she's only gone and declared to the world she's calling her baby the ONLY girls name DP and I both like, I'm going to have to hope for another boy I think.
DP is making this face >> Hmm at me! I know it's too early but still! I've always said if I were ever to have a daughter she'd be called that name, caaahhh! Luckily I love my siblings very much.

My 12 week scan is on the 21st October which seems like ages away even though it's not really.

I am being sent 9 gourmet brownies tomorrow for some work I did, I'm vair excited and I'm not sharing with the kids Grin

Mslad · 08/10/2014 21:01

Thanks for your replies ladies, I just felt a 10 week scan is weird, as I just assumed it would be 12. I think I'll be getting 2 now (at 9 & 12 weeks), so I'll wait to tell work till after the second one (I've already told many close family & friends).

WutheringFrights · 08/10/2014 21:03

Hullo! I came back to say thank you all for your messages - the mw in fact called me back to say she had booked me in for a scan tomorrow. She is a lovely mw and was brilliant through my last pregnancy, I think maybe she was trying to stop me worrying yesterday, which was pretty effective!
Anyhoo, scan tomorrow, thank you all and although I have a niggling hope that I see a heartbeat tomorrow I am preparing myself for bad news.

KittyVonCatsington · 08/10/2014 21:12

So glad to read your last post Wuthering and sorry if I spoke out of turn! I'll be thinking of you at your scan-I know how you feel xx

I wouldn't say I've had morning sickness as such but have had waves of nausea at odd times, usually just after a gruesome bowel movement Grin

Grrr for your chosen name Tits -always a bummer. Our initial chats have led me to choosing a boys name and DH choosing the girls name!

WutheringFrights · 08/10/2014 21:16

Kitty - not out of turn at all lovely! Thank you for being honest with me - if mw hadn't called me back and after reading everyone's responses I would have called her anyway.

Ameilius · 08/10/2014 21:32

Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow wuthering and at least the scan will be conclusive Smile

Thanks for everyone's kind words, I'm feeling a little better today, nauseous but no real sick (just the joys of gagging...)

Anyone read the blood types thread on the pregnancy forum? It's making me wish I was A+! (Even though I can't imagine how blood type could make a difference to labour...) Hmm

Enjoy your brownies tomorrow tits they sound delicious - hard earned brownies are definitely the best!

fififolle · 08/10/2014 22:08

Thinking of you tomorrow Wuthering I really hope that you get some positive news, you've had such a tough time xx

plinkyplonks · 09/10/2014 02:16

Good luck Wuthering - really do hope it's positive news x

Fluffeh · 09/10/2014 07:04

Good luck with your scan wuthering I'll keep everything crossed for you xx
I woke up at 6am and DD is still sleeping! It's a miracle in my house for everyone to still be asleep after 5am.
But today's the only day of the week we have to be out by 8.15 and I still have to bf dd, shower, breakfast us both and nag dp to get himself ready to drop us off. I think we're going to be late haha.

Titsalinabumsquash · 09/10/2014 07:20

Good luck today Wuthering, we're all thinking of you Thanks

Lazy day here for me and DS3, we've got nothing to do so I might mill around a few shops behave heading home in the warm.

Sunshinesaz86 · 09/10/2014 07:34

Good luck today wuthering! We'll be thinking of u x

I hope everyone enjoys their day! Long day in work for me ahead in this lovely weather I'll probably get soaked at least 3 times no doubt as I'll be in and out of office.

What have they said about blood type amelius?

mumxof3x · 09/10/2014 08:06

Good luck wuthering :) hope it all goes ok.

Im an A+ blood type and first labour was terrible, second was long and he got stuck lol and 3rd was lovely birth but again was long almost a week ongoing...so I doubt that ones true lol...im hoping for a nice quick labourthis time around ha. Id love a water birth but i wasnt allowed one with second and 3rd due to problems I had with ds1, but im hoping this time they see I havnt had same problems with ds2&3 so hoping I can be considered.

I have got my booking appointment today and I look and sound really lovely, mouths covered in cold sores and I have a bad chest and cold. Deary me.

Tits, thats a shame about your girls name..iv stopped myself from picking any girls names as im pretty sure im cooking another boy haha, dp's side doesnt have any girls born into it in absoloutely years, hes one of four boys, and his father come from an irish catholic family, so he had 14 siblings and only 2 was girls lol.

Hope everyone is ok xx

jazzyjenbo · 09/10/2014 08:34

Mumof3, i can't help but look at baby names but i cannot think of anything i like as much as my kids names and nor nethin that matches. The only name thats seemed to agree with my taste is isla, but its far to popular for me to use.. My ds name was not in top 10 when he was born (about 30th i think) but is now, dd's name is not in top 100

mumxof3x · 09/10/2014 08:43

I used to like isla jazzy but I agree it is popular now. All my 3 ds names are in the top most popular I think...and I never wanted something. So popular so I never picked till they were born and I just chose names I thought most suited them x

BB01 · 09/10/2014 10:33

Good luck Wuthering

Ameilius · 09/10/2014 11:28

Sunshine it's a thread (one of the discussions of the day in the top righthand corner) comparing blood type to what kind of labour you had - apparently A+ blood makes for an easier birth.. Wierd but lots of the comments on the tread seem to support it!

Love the name Isla Jazzy but agree it's too popular. It's so hard to think of nice names that aren't super popular - so many of the names I like seem to be in the top-20!
