Her baby has gone back to back boo but on a positive note MW estimates she is probably about 7lb.

pregnant it's my first baby so don't know what it feels like to be engaged but her head is definitely low down and putting constant pressure on my pelvis. Tonight I feel like my hips are dislocated they are so painful! At how many weeks should they engage? I'm also getting aches really low down in my bump. DH has a constant look of worry on his face with my moans and groans. The fact one of us has already gone into labour is worrying him, so with every ache and pain I think he's considering driving me to the MLU

My original due date was 7th October, got moved at scans,

According to midwife, baby not engaged here, but I'm really struggling in the bladder/lower bump department. If things get worse than this when it does engage, there is no way I'll be able to work. Can barely stand for 10 minutes. I'm hoping it's just growing ache over the last few days, but we'll see.

Wow the first October small person on route. I hope all goes well for troubleandfyfe, exciting times... Please pass on my best wishes as I'm not on fb.

I guess this means I should get my bum in gear and sort out a hospital bag, although I can't see this baby arriving early, DD was 7 days late and only arrived after I was induced. On the bright side, a baby that doesn't want to evacuate will mean I have 3-5 weeks at home after I start mat leave in 2 weeks. I'm so over work. I keep hoping that they'll get my sublimal messages that I'd just like to come to work to disengage my brain, sleep and still get paid ... sadly the message doesn't seem to be getting through. Like many of you, I'm achey with audible groans accompanying most basic manoeuvres (turning in bed, picking something up off the floor), luckily my SPD isn't as bad as last time. Those of you full on suffering have my sympathies.

pregnantagain - I was told the baby wasn't engaged at my last appointment, but have similar feelings to you, too. Especially walking for any length of time. I swear DS was engaged by this point, but they say it happens earlier with your first as your muscle tone pushes them down, where we're more, erm, floppy and relaxed, internally, now

There's an October baby that's been born according to FB !

Has the birth of the first October baby sent anyone else into a complete panic? Physically we are quite well prepared but mentally I'm not sure I'm ready to cope with labour and newborns

We are really not organised. Box of 0-3m clothes still in garage need washed & ironed and finding a home.
Need to build the crib, wash crib bedding.
Not packed hospital bag yet or packed overnight bag for ds.
Not finished work yet.....
I'm feeling even more sore not that I thought that was possible, getting lightning crotch even lying in bed. Given up trying to sleep in bed, I've moved to sofa.

Same, I think I was in denial. I don't even have cot bedding yet, unwashed clothes, don't even have pyjamas that are suitable enough to go into hospital with, still haven't properly arranged my maternity cover and am just over 35 weeks. AARGH!

Still, seeing the picture on fb shows how worthwhile this madness will be soon!

Knowing troubleandfyfe was in labour freaked mrsthedog out and really excited me. Baby Lumen was born a few hours ago. So exciting. She looks amazing

Off to buy the cot and changing table from IKEA today- we'd best get a move on with babies appearing!

Going to repack my hospital bag today and start waxing the nursery furniture, hope that will make me feel better. I don't think I'm going to emotionally cope until I do it, there's just too many unknowns to plan how I'll deal with it.

I'm shattered today though, couldn't sleep after I read the fb news on a loo trip at 3am, will be enjoying an afternoon nap today .

I just realised if baby came now i wouldn't even have a nappy for him/her! Off to order some i think

Baby was 8lb 5oz at 35 weeks! She's had to go to SCBU for the day for observation as the docs were concerned about infection markers. Poor trouble won't be able to hold her as there's so many wires - it sounds like she was feeding well too on a positive note.

I did think this thread was a bit laissez faire about early births! I guess on my old bus where the first birth was at 28 weeks that gave us an earlier arse kick to prepare.

Baby lumen is a whopper at 8.5lbs! Imagine if she'd made it to term?! She has to spend some time in sbcu as she has signs of infection but trouble says all is ok just means they will stay in a couple of days. They had planned a home birth as well but baby lumen had other ideas!

I'm in a bit of shock too, re: the arrival of baby Lumen at 35 weeks! Happy shock but shock nonetheless! I'd ordered the last of my hospital bag stuff from EBay yesterday plus a "changing bag") from ASOS (which is actually just a big tan leather duffle rucksack to put my Skip Hop in), now I'm willing it all to come ASAP!

Wow the first baby! This little one cannot come until I've done my nct course as don't even know how to change a nappy!

We had the same on my last bus too, yellow - prompted lots of hospital bag packing pre-30wks!
I guess it just goes to show, babies will come when they're ready to come, whether we like it or not! That being said, I may be obsessively watching the clock until midnight - I really don't want my two to be in the same academic year....
