Evening all!

I feel a bit bad admitting this but I've never bought a sling Blush
Am I missing out on a whole world of baby wearing?!

Welcome jemima pull up a chair and rest your feet

I can't believe that exactly a year ago I was in labour with Ds leaning over the bed having contractions whilst watching X factor. I also can't believe my little man will be one tomorrow what the hell happened to a year feel a bit teary when I think about him not being they youngest anymore :(

Hope everyone's had a good Sunday and been enjoying the sunshine I went for breakfast at a local farm this morning so nice watching the kids having a ball in the play area and sandpit. Almost stripped them to their underwear before putting them in the car they were so filthy then realised I was in dps car so left them ha ha that will teach him to bugger off on a jolly leaving me with three kids 35 weeks pregnant Grin

SweetPeaPods · 07/09/2014 20:44

Pregnantagain I don't think your missing out. I didn't use one with ds. The only reason I bought the close caboo is i got a good deal at baby show and I thought it might help me with ds so I can still play with him, or help him when walking as he's still a bit wobbly. Not sure how often I'll use it yet. My friend lent me a carrier with ds that I really struggled with, but I did find it helpful in supermarket.
Hope your ds has a lovely birthday. Ds was 1 in June I was an emotional mess!
Regarding snacks, I didn't eat anything in labour with ds. Haribo by the bucket load the next day though!!

gunwalloe · 07/09/2014 20:53

pregnant I own a sling but have never worn it hubby has always used it to give me a break.

My blood is going loopy tonight ive had a massive dinner and a hr later im only just above 4 so am now having to have a sugary tea to prevent a night time hypo

Has anyone used a ewan the dream sheep? or know someone that has ive read some really good reviews so might get one.

ohthegoats · 07/09/2014 21:02

Crikey I hurt today. Bump pain/ache is really bad, so every time I get kicked it feels three times worse than normal. Can barely stand up straight. We've had a really productive day trying to get loads more finished in the bathroom though, so actually have lights - woohoo, no more weeing by spotlight from an anglepoise lamp!

Just had a text asking me what I've planned for my cover teacher tomorrow when I have my performance management meeting. What? Really? a) I didn't know about it, b) why? I couldn't give a shit about my performance management right now, and c) I haven't even planned the lessons I'm teaching tomorrow yet, let alone easy ones that someone else can cover. Raaah.

Pregnantagain7 · 07/09/2014 21:04

Ooh I've not used Ewan but heard so many good things about it. I got given something similar last time Richard the lionheart or something I think it was called. Ds was an unbelievably good sleeper (I'm sure this one won't be!) so I never really used it.

I think I will see what kind of personality this little one has and maybe get one if I think it will be useful. I do kind of remember that I'd had enough of carrying the baby while I was pregnant last time but I didn't have such a close age gap maybe a sling might be the safest place for a newborn with a one year old crawling round trying to poke him!

gunwalloe · 07/09/2014 21:10

I hadn't heard of it until today when I was lurking on the September thread. I know white noise works as in moments of desperation ive used a hairdryer or hoover for 5 mins peace in the past.

YellowWellies · 07/09/2014 21:14

Gun I was advised sugary hot drinks were a no no to prevent hypos? I was advised 4 jelly babies, 3 wine gums or 5 dextrose tabs but not hot drinks or chocolate as they are too slow?

I babywore J during his worst reflux days as it stopped his crying and soothed him, and wore him out and about until it got icy. I want to wear baby more around the house this time just so I can be more hands free to play with, change, dress, feed etc Jonas

Hi all. Just a last quick message from me.

Our daughter Edith, was born on 6.9.14 at 1:35am weighing 6lb 5oz. We were due on 1.10.14. Edith was born sleeping though I am absolutely gutted to say. We were 36 weeks and 1 day along, going great guns seeing as our little ds1 who is now 4 Was born at 33 weeks. All was well, no hint of a problem then movement stopped on Thursday. Went to day assessment and told that Edith's heart had stopped beating.

Please please please go straight away to hospital with even the smallest niggle that something may not be right. I had no pain, infection, bleeding or anything to suggest this would happen. Life is really shit sometimes!

Stay safe ladies and I wish you all luck with your squidgy little bundles of joy x x x

ohthegoats · 07/09/2014 21:16

My brother used white noise to get his two off to sleep. They had different white noise preferences though, and the youngest one really likes hairdryers - you can get an app for an iPhone that just plays hairdryer noise, or download white noise quite easily.

STIGZ · 07/09/2014 21:18

There is great white noise apps, i used one when i was babysitting my cousins newborn, he loved the train sound!! .,. Deffo using this for my dd, i never had an i phone last time, so looking forward to using all the development apps etc this time around

YellowWellies · 07/09/2014 21:21

Some ladies on my last bus swore by Ewan. One toddler still sleeps with Ewan and can turn him on himself when he wants him! He doesn't last that long though so you have to creep in and re-press him. My sister got a fab heartbeat bear from the States on eBay that will go all night (ooer) and found this great for soothing her wee prem DD. I just used to make a sssh noise and pat J's bum like a heartbeat (mimicking what they feel in the last few weeks in the womb when they're head down) and that, combined with stroking the bridge of his nose to make him close his eyes, was a pretty bomb proof way of soothing him back to sleep if he didn't want fed. BF was the quickest way to knock him out though!

Grannyapple · 07/09/2014 21:33

Ruddy typo!! read your post that should've said

ExcitedCJ · 07/09/2014 21:40

Vicky I am so sorry to hear your news.
Bingo you get great granny shopping trolleys in IKEA, might have to pick one up.
Gun what did you have for dinner & what dose of insulin are you on pre meal?
Pregnant baby wearing is very individual, I didn't like it at the start & as a consequence neither did my DD but found it much better when she was a few months old. She fell asleep every time she was put into it. When she was little I panicked about her breathing etc. Would highly recommend going to a sling library meeting as they can help you to adjust position & get comfy with the right sling. A close caboo is meant to be a great carrier for the first few months. I bought a Boba 4G for my new squish as I did heaps of research & it seems like it will be great for a new born & have a very long lifespan. I am also interested in a Scootababy carrier for when my DS gets a little bigger & constantly wants to be on your hip!

SweetPeaPods · 07/09/2014 21:44

Vicky so sorry to read your post. Thoughts are with you and your family and I hope you have plenty of support. Life can be very cruel sometimes

gunwalloe · 07/09/2014 21:53

yellow I will check just before bed to see what its doing ive got some boiled sweets I can have if it still needs a push up

cj im diet controlled still, I had chicken salad tonight with baby pots for the carb, the whole way along ive had more trouble with dropping to low than going high seems im a bit weird! Ive had to snack constantly today to keep it up im seeing the consultant on Wednesday so will ask to see if she knows whats going on

If theres white noise aps I might as well save the money and use them especially if they play for a while

Pregnantagain7 · 07/09/2014 21:57

Thanks for the tips cj will definitely look into it.
gun I used to swaddle mine tightly and stand under the extractor fan in the kitchen they all loved it and would instantly go quiet!
