You may be right Kirsti. She seems much better this morning and I'm attempting to get us all moving before I start to feel crap again!

I've seen the medela mini electric pump at John lewis for £57. Seemed like a good deal to me as they are supposed to be one of the best brands...

ohthegoats · 07/09/2014 09:39

Gah, sex last night resulted in over an hour of wave like period pain/BH. A little bit ouchy, but could have slept had i just not laid there panicking! Interesting.

YellowWellies · 07/09/2014 09:55

I was going to say that's cheap for the avent but its not a particularly well rated pump - the medela swing is awesome (and used by a lot of hospitals as a result). If we needed another pump I'd go for the medela over the avent.

I've got the medela twin pump - very good one. Mine even has a hands free option for proper cow like milking!

goats that's why I don't have sex - got so scared by the tightenings / pain afterwards. I might dtd later on when ready for baby to arrive but am not yet!

SweetPeaPods · 07/09/2014 10:05

I have the medala swing, it's very good. Easy to sterilise etc only issue is not all babies will take the teat for the bottle that comes with it. Easy enough to pour into separate bottle though.
On talks of carriers/slings, my friend has the boba 4G, and really rates it. I've bought a close caboo to try then we'll take it from there. Spent enough money converting our iCandy to double so want to get my money worth there too!!

Shirehobbit · 07/09/2014 10:28

Pumps are always a bit of a gamble, imo - what works for one woman, may not for another. And some women, even with a good supply will struggle to express.
Hand pumps are the work of the devil, though Wink

Today's dithering is over changing mats. I'm sure there are more important things I could be dithering over, but still.

Decided that whilst I love my fancy-ass changing bag as bought as the present to myself, if I'm going to be able to carry the baby more than pushchair (which I'm sort of coming round to - pushchairs seem all a bit bulky and faffy), then I'll want something I can chuck in a rucksack, rather than an over the shoulder bag.

Think I might get one of these too: www.bababing.com/shop/products/flipout.htm - it can get chucked in any bag then, but holds the essentials together. Probably wouldn't get a changing mat+folder/wallet thing to keep it all in for less than that.

YellowWellies · 07/09/2014 11:16

Goats get the right pushchair (and especially if you've got space to store them unfolded) and they're no faff. Something like the BJCM with its one handed fold you can literally pop up and down one handed whilst latching a squalling infant onto your boob. Mummy skillz you never thought you'd develop TM. And you can laden a buggy down which is great when they're bigger and you're off to the beach, or shopping or swimming. Baby wearing is fab but its not always less faff - it depends what else you've got to carry. I think having a bag for baby wearing and one for buggy days makes a lot of sense. Sadly my baby wearing days will also feature the single buggy!

ohthegoats · 07/09/2014 11:21

I've got the BJCM, I like it for its ease (I say like it, I've only wheeled it around the house and put it in and out of the boot of my car), and I've stripped it right back to the frame so I can use the bassinet and the car seat in it. I think it's when it's in full sail, with all the seats and hoods etc on it that it looks and feels HUGE.

Luckily we're 200 yards from a big Sainsburys, so my shopping type popping out isn't a long haul. The woman opposite with a now 6 week old, has barely used her pushchair - she's carried him the whole time.

bumpbangbump · 07/09/2014 11:22

I had an avent breast pump last time but have been lent a Mandela this time. My best friend has been using it and can get 6oz in about 5 mins. Obvs this can vary from woman to woman but I understand this is a particularly good one.

Ive got my secret baby shower this afternoon. Looking forward to an afternoon with the girls but hoping people haven't bought presents... As it's our second I really feel like everyone has already been really generous last time round! Anyway, pretty sure there'll be home made yummy food so that makes me happy.

YellowWellies · 07/09/2014 11:32

Aye but carrying a 3kg baby and shopping is one thing - 8kg and shopping ooooooof not something I personally enjoy. And now he's 12kg even just carrying him up the stairs is tough. I haven't carried shopping in a year now - god am gonna miss the buggy when they're both walking!

Have to agree. I wouldn't fancy lugging my boy about now. Going to try to baby wear for the beginning though, well for as long as I can.

fedupofrainydays · 07/09/2014 11:49

Carrying a 15 kg toddler and pushing a buggy is no fun either!! I met my friend for lunch the other day and her boy is 4 months now. I could have carried him, pushed a buggy and carried shopping all whilst 8 months preg! Just shows how strong you get having a heavy toddler and how light everything else seems!

DH back tomorrow. Yay! And we shall wait with baited breath as to whether we get back in the house. Hope so. Fed up of camping at others now - it's been the longest month and a bit!

Jemima1988 · 07/09/2014 12:53

Hello very new to mums net and due the 3rd of October but I am determined this baby is coming in September I feel very selfish taking my raspberry leaf, bouncing on my ball and just in general trying to get him out I'm not sleeping for more than a few hours at a time not had the best pregnancy and just generally feeling sorry for myself ha x

mrsb87 · 07/09/2014 12:56

Ah I bet you're excited to have your dh back fedup, not sure I'd have coped on your situation.
The evacuation sex has begun our end. I'm not going to try the raspberry leaf tea or anything like that. Quite happy having the time with my dh before things change forever! It wasn't the most beautiful moment as we have both been struck down with this damn cold now so lots of sniffing and trouble breathing, lol.
I've done a fair bit of my batch cooking just want to make a couple of soups toda. Then I'm done with that. Bath if FINALLY being plumbed in today. So need a relaxing bath, my muscles and back are killing me!
Like with everything else I'm planning on being pretty open minded about things, trying carrying and using the buggy and seeing how I get one. Same with nappies. I'm hoping to use cloth but not putting huge amounts of pressure on myself.

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 07/09/2014 14:01

If anyone decides carrying full time is for them I would highly recommend getting a granny trolley for the shopping Grin I have one and wouldn't be without it. I even use it when on my own at the moment, so much easier than breaking my fingers carrying bags!

Keeping my fingers crossed that you get your house back fedup!

Missus2ndwife · 07/09/2014 15:30

Ok so we've just started watching In The Club.

Episode 2: husband is sobbing

I don't know if we'll make another episode

mum2kiss · 07/09/2014 15:36

EVERYTHING is annoying me today! Particularly my family! The moodiness! The attitude! The bickering! I just can't take it!

YellowWellies · 07/09/2014 16:52

Jonas and I just walked to the shop - at 22 months with short legs, an insistence on wellies and investigating every fecking fallen leaf the world around him, a 5 minute trip took half an hour. Still at least I've found someone my pace! Hmm

Hospital bag backed today eek! Need to replenish the snacks tho!

fedupofrainydays · 07/09/2014 18:30

mum2 me too. Very irritable. But also very emotional. Just feel like crying for no reason!

mum2kiss · 07/09/2014 18:34

Oh yes the tears have fallen here too...not that anyone noticed!

fedupofrainydays · 07/09/2014 18:51

DH just rang me and was pretty off with him. Think I still feel funny about what he's got up to. But I think it's mainly been 4 days of just drinking. Just feel weird about it all bit will be pleased when he's home tomorrow morning.

I'm hoping I will be able to pack my hospital bag this week too. It will be a lot less food than I took last time - didn't want any of it, just drinks!

Loulou888 · 07/09/2014 19:16

I didn't eat either during labour but I did enjoy a few treats on the ward

BingoBango85 · 07/09/2014 19:29

I want a granny shopping trolley! I did consider using my buggy briefly.....but figured that would just been plain weirdo
