Hello

Having had 5 mcs and 1 DD I am not feeling very hopeful (juest realistic) even though I am doing different things than before...

4w today and on cyclogest pessaries since CD21...

Maybe we could have a separate thread to the biiiig one so we don't scare the others with our (my) negativity...

Welcome

TinyTear, 40, 1 DD, 5mcs, due in April but don't want to know the exact day...

Fingers crossed for you Bristolian

I know someone who had to have a tube removed, but she still managed 2 children after that...

Hope it's not ectopic though and it is just stretching pain...

Hi smiling! and welcome. This thread is lovely, much quieter than the April 2015/no april fool one and of course all the ladies here are in the same boat. Plus it's great not to put a dampner on all the excited ladies on the other thread with my worries/past experience!

Wow 10 weeks already? Good luck with your next scan tomorrow. I'll be spending a fortune on scans I think. I've got one in just under 2 weeks when I'll be 8+1 then if that's okay, I'm planning on booking another for 10 weeks to bridge the gap.

Not long til your next scan tiny wishing you all the best and hopefully you get to see a lovely little hb. Good luck with the course too. What does it entail? I'm very interested from my psychology background.

Sorry to hear you've been in pain bristolian but best for your GP to be over cautious and have it checked out. Stay positive. Worst case scenario and it is ectopic (which I'm keeping everything crossed for you that it's not) as hard as it will be, many many women go on to conceive quickly after an ectopic. Keep us updated and I'm thinking of you xx

LIG1979 · 02/09/2014 10:08

Oh Bristol - I hope it isn't an ectopic. Do you have someone with you at the hospital?

Tiny - I hope your session goes well on comfort eating. How you feeling about tomorrow? Does it pass any significant milestones?

I told my boss and he was lovely although did want to discuss plans which I quickly stopped. He also agreed that my course next week may not be a good idea so had to talk to hr. So they now know and were lovely too. I do feel a bit uncomfortable about it all as they were all very positive about a "baby" which is so far from where I am. (I call it an it or blob so I don't feel attached to it.) Now I feel less sick which is also stressing me out. (But only been about 30 mins.)

Welcome and very Envy to being 10+2. I think scans help reassure me but the benefit is only temporary.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/09/2014 10:34

Hi oneday its nice to see a familiar face Grin

im keeping everything crossed Bristol that its not ectopic, if it helps to reassure you I had a lot of pain on my left side between 5 and 7 weeks which concerned the gp but it was just stretching pains.

if I had my way id be scanned weekly thats the only way id be reassured, unfortunately the nhs wont do that and I really cant afford it so Ill have to settle for one at 10.3 wks, 12.2 weeks and I might pay for another one at 16wks then ill get one at 20wks and another at 32wks.

I envy other women who have a paranoid free pregnancy I feel like a nervous wreck, in the last few days I havent been to the toilet as much and my gums have stopped bleeding, its trigged major panicking.!

LIG1979 · 02/09/2014 10:38

Smiling - have you thought about a doppler. I brought an angel sounds one for £20 and used it from 13 weeks. Poor dd got dopplered most days so I could check she was still alive. At my 16 week check the midwife will often Doppler and that was a chance to check I was hearing the right thing. Quite difficult to find initially but once you get practise it is easy to find the hb.

TinyTear · 02/09/2014 10:44

tomorrow i should be 7+6 so I am hoping for a hb and measuring on the dates...

today I have no idea what it entails, I can let you know later... it's a 3 hour workshop and it's organised for people from Camden and Islington councils... i just want some coping strategies...

I am a scan addict!

On my one successful pregnancy I was scaned at 6, 8 and 10 w at the RMC in St Mary's
Then 12w in my hospital.
Then a quick one at 16w/17w when little miss was hiding and the midwife couldn't catch the hb on the doppler so sent me for a quick scan...

then 20w...

and then 22w for a super-duper colour bloodflow scan as my hospital is a training hospital and they asked if I minded being scanned by trainees for this (I didn't, loved the extra attention)

then at 28w got diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes so from then on had scans nearly every 2 weeks which were amazing... could see she had hair and everything!

So never bothered with 3D ones and that sort of stuff...

I wish i could have a camera permanently attached to the womb!

Thanks for the welcome. I think my stay here will be very brief as I've been having stomach pains and I no longer have tender breasts :( I'm expecting the sonographer to give me the bad news at my scan today ...... and you know its bad news when they start asking you whether you are sure of your dates etc.

Thanks to those who shared their medicine info. I am on 400mg cyclogest and I take that just before I go to bed. I've started taking the steroids yesterday as well as the normal vitamins & supplements recommended by Mr S.

Tiny good luck with the workshop & it'd be great if you can share any helpful info. I put on two stones since my miscarriage last October through emotional eating. My BMI was already high before and now it's even higher :(

Good luck with your scan Bristol I hope that it's only stretching pains.

Welcome Smiling and wow at being 10 weeks!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/09/2014 11:15

lig I did think about buying a doppler but think ill wait a bit longer as if I cant find the hb it is bound to freak me out, I think at the moment it would cause more stress then it would give me reassurance iyswim.

yy to a camera permenantly attached I think thats a great idea perhaps we should design a small portable one Grin

Shetland · 02/09/2014 11:39

Good luck with scan today bristolian and london Hope everything is ok.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 02/09/2014 12:03

Good luck for your scan today London

Bristolian1 · 02/09/2014 12:19

Well it's not ectopic, and there is a little blob in there, with a heartbeat! I am frankly astounded as was really starting to think the worst, but today I am pregnant, for real! Thanks so much for all of your comforting words everyone, and good luck with your scan today london

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/09/2014 12:21

Yay Bristol!!! Glad it was good news and great to have some reassurance.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 02/09/2014 13:04

Fantastic news bristolian Have they dated you as you were expecting? So happy for you

Bristolian1 · 02/09/2014 13:38

Thanks ladies Smile

LondonSuperTrooper · 02/09/2014 15:01

Great news Bristol. You must be so relieved.

Thanks for your good wishes ladies. I'm afraid that my scan wasn't that good :( I've got inconclusive results and at 6+2 its frankly not looking good. I've had my bloods taken and the midwife will ring me with the results later on today. If blood levels are insufficient, then there's no need to repeat the blood test 48 hrs later.

I have another scan booked for next Wednesday. I'm not holding out much hope though & I'm mentally preparing myself for my 4th miscarriage Sad Sad Sad

Shetland · 02/09/2014 15:03

Fab news bristolian Grin

Bristolian1 · 02/09/2014 15:19

Sorry to hear that london but still keeping my fingers crossed for you

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 02/09/2014 16:05

Shit. I'm so sorry london Do you mind me asking what inconclusive results means? Is it possible you're earlier than you're measuring?

I'm so sorry if this does turn out to be your 4th miscarriage xxx

LondonSuperTrooper · 02/09/2014 17:12

Thanks Bristol

OneDay Thanks but no as I'm absolutely sure of my dates as I've been charting.

An inconclusive scan means the following:
1 - It's too early to see anything (which I highly doubt as my last period was on 20 July!)
2 - Failed pregnancy
3 - Ectopic pregnancy

Hopefully the blood results should be back today & I will know one way or another by the end of today.

LondonSuperTrooper · 02/09/2014 17:13

On my 3rd miscarriage, I saw the heartbeat at this stage.

TinyTear · 02/09/2014 17:15

So sorry London... I hate when they check dates and tell you to wait... Unfortunately we know our blooming dates...

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 02/09/2014 18:49

Oh I'm so sorry london I hope you've got your bloods at at least know either way.

With it being potentially 4 mc's, are you entitled to some investigations/referral?

Hoping you've got lots of support in RL xx
