Thanks all for the kind words. It was just a momentary freak out!!! Almost certainly because this is so new to me and I don't know any different.

I feel very very sick today - had to go and sit in loo at work as felt so rough but a bit of food has helped.

I haven't got my scan date yet - Grrr. Keep checking the post (and the loo roll everytime I have a wee!)

But booking in appt will be next Thursday

persepolis123 · 31/07/2014 11:32

missy It should be ok if it was brown. Fingers crossed for you.

I might call today and book a private scan for saturday. I was desperate for a scan but all of a sudden I feel very nervous.

NotAQueef · 31/07/2014 11:34

foscar we are scan date buddies! I am hoping that Colchester Hospital exceeds my current expectations based on the terrible press it has received over the last year or so.

northdownmummy · 31/07/2014 11:35

[butter] we're scan buddies. Mine is on the 14th too, but not till 7:30 in the evening. I'd no idea they even ran appointments that late.

I've been working away all week but flying home observing tonight. Have been much more homesick than normal, can't wait to break my DD out of nursery early on Friday for lots of cuddles and to hear all her stories from this week

persepolis123 · 31/07/2014 11:43

NotAQueef you can’t be far from me. I’m over the border in Suffolk but Colchester is only a twenty minute drive. Anyone else close by?

coastergirl · 31/07/2014 11:54

Brummie I had one of those freak outs at the weekend too. I love red wine, rollercoasters (and this is where I see my friends too), and my job which is quite dangerous for me now. I felt like I wasn't me anymore and had a very bad day. it passed though and I'm excited now!

Missy I hope all is OK. I've had brown/red spotting several times now but my early scan on Tuesday was fine.

Butterpuff · 31/07/2014 12:23

NotAQueef and Persepolis I'm not far from Colchester either, further south so I'm off to Chelmsford for my scan but Colchester is my favourite town to shop, its maybe half hour drive.

northdown 7.30 is late, but my OH would have loved it, saved him taking time off work. We are in at 1.30 for ours. When are you due?

northdownmummy · 31/07/2014 12:29

butter got my booking appointment on Monday so dates might change but by my calculations I'm due 1st march

Butterpuff · 31/07/2014 12:37

Beware north I went in with expectations of the 1st March....and got put forward to the 27th Feb. I fully expect to skip back again at the scan. So at the moment I am not officially in this group. But I feel comfy so I plan on staying.

I hope you manage to break your daughter out early Friday sounds fun.

m33r · 31/07/2014 12:49

Hi all. Ok, I think I need to cave and see about an early scan. I'm seven weeks tomorrow and would like to go around 9 weeks but I'm worried... Is there any risk? How do you know if the places are good / quality / qualified?

I am so nervous though. Part of me thinks I should just leave things alone... My booking in appt is 14th August (8+7) so it would be after that I go but I am getting so impatient! 12 week scan booked for 5th September.

Mrsw123 · 31/07/2014 12:52

I'm colchester too!!

notoasthere · 31/07/2014 13:36

m33r you need to look for somewhere that has trained sonographers and preferably offers nt scans/dating scans etc, rather than those who only offer scans for entertainment purposes. Babybond is the one I use

amac welcome. I think 'knicker watch' is fairly common amongst all of us. I still check pants and loo roll thoroughly every time I go. It's a little ritual now. And I smile every time it's normal.

hyperspacebug · 31/07/2014 16:04

wow, long thread already

My first ever mumsnet post at the ante-natal, but this is my third-child-to-be...fingers crossed it will go ok. My first pregnancy did end in mc so I did do a lot of obsessive knicker watch in subsequent pregnancies. But these days I feel so busy with my DC's and the move and home renovation already...(most of my mumsnet posts are at property/DIY))))

due end of March, same due date as my DS1 (he was due 29th, born 27th)

hyperspacebug · 31/07/2014 16:05

just did midwife self-referral - so happy it was so easy, no need to go to GP and the midwives replied straightaway too

persepolis123 · 31/07/2014 16:19

Welcome amac and hyper

Nice that there are a few of you close to me. In my November 12 group there's nobody in this part of the country and they all have meetups without me because it's too far for me to travel.

Private scan booked for saturday morning! So anxious but excited at the same time.

FoscarC · 31/07/2014 16:32

notaqueef yay for being scan buddies. I am ridiculously excited and equally petrified. What if there actually is no baby in there? And I was never pregnant and am just a bit mad (and now a bit fat?).

mariomadmum · 31/07/2014 17:18

sickness has hit me full force today Sad I feel so awful

Mrsw123 · 31/07/2014 18:06

Sickness hit me too. I've been feelin better the last week or so, but have gone back to all day nausea. Feel pathetic and useless Hmm

pinkandstripey · 31/07/2014 18:17

Felt shocking all day :( yes to pathetic and useless mrsw.

Having a sneaky scan tmrw, to hopefully allay twin panic.

northdownmummy · 31/07/2014 20:22

foscar I've been having exactly the same thoughts....what if I'm imagining it all. Did even contemplate buying another test to do before I see the Midwife in Monday. Madness I know but can't shake it

persepolis123 · 31/07/2014 20:29

Any news littlemissy? I hope everything is ok.

We told my parents this evening and they're so pleased. They will be looking after DS saturday morning when we go to Colchester for the scan. I don't know how I'm going to be able to sleep for the next two nights. I'm so worried that they won't find a heartbeat but also excited in case they say everything's ok and then maybe I can start being a bit more optimistic.

littlemissy12345 · 31/07/2014 20:45

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. No more blood at all, and a scan booked for Monday. I'll be 6+2 by then so should be able to see something.
Obviously I've convinced myself something is wrong as I haven't felt as nauseous today, but on the otherhand I haven't done anything all day but lie on the sofa and sleep - doctors orders!
Hope everyone else's sickness gets better when this warm weather breaks.

Rainbow555 · 31/07/2014 21:12

I'm going to my brothers wedding in the uk in September and I will be 16 weeks..will I be showing by then and so need maternity outfit?

It's getting kind of late to not have a dress yet but I don't want to buy one that I won't fit by then!!

Rainbow555 · 31/07/2014 21:12

Glad to hear no more blood missy
