Oh lots of us from near Colchester then!
foscar i remember worrying about there never having been a baby last time.
This time everytime I have a 'good' low nausea day I get convinced I'll discover a mmc at the scan. Bloody hormones making us worry.
Though today am convinced it's octuplets as I quite literally could pass for 6 months pregnant. It starts really high up, but trying to convince myself i haven't just gained a stne this week and it might just be air

northdownmummy · 31/07/2014 22:23

rainbow you might be showing by then, choice of dress really depends on your confidence. I doubt you'll be into proper maternity so either a floaty number or something stretchy. Last pregnancy I bought a brilliant long black jersey dress from topshop. Dressed up with nice jewellery and a scarf it did me through a few weddings and other formal dos

KeeperOfTheZoo · 31/07/2014 22:42

rainbow yes I get sharp stabbing pains low down - especially if I stand up too quickly I very the mist horrendous shooting pain that leaves me doubled over and unable to breathe for a few seconds. I remember it from last time though so am confident it's just everything stretching.

I too now have a frock nightmare to consider - DH and I volunteer for a childrens' heart charity and have the annual ball at the end of November, when I'll be 5 months ish. The theme this year is "Hollywood to Bollywood" so will be full-on bling to put it mildly. My dress hunt has just become even more difficult! Confused

Brummiegirl15 · 01/08/2014 07:49

I've got a dress issue - I'm going to an Indian wedding in October and I'll be 16 weeks pregnant. You can't wear black either so I defo need to get a new dress.
But will I be properly showing by then? Or can I get away with a stretchy dress in perhaps a bigger size?
Went to John Lewis last night to get some new bas as SO uncomfortable at moment. Got told off for wearing an underwired and my boobs have already jumped from a 34DD to a 38E!!!!!

PickledPorcupine · 01/08/2014 08:02

Brummie I would recommend a trip to bravissimo to get remeasured. Your cup size should have moved but it's very unlikely your back will have gone from a 34 to a 38 (unless you've put loads of weight on?). And you can wear underwired as long as you're in a well fitting bra so the fact they told you not to makes me think they're not confident with their measuring.

FoscarC · 01/08/2014 08:31

From what I understand it used to be the case that you shouldn't wear underwired as they could dig in an cause problems for your milk. But the research now says that as long as they are proper fitting then underwire is fine. I've got new non underwired ones from mothercare that are actually quite pretty and so comfy. I found my old underwired ones made me really sore when I took them off. I think because they lifted up my boobs so much that when I took them off they went back to their normal position and really hurt like all the insides were stretching (I do not have big saggy boobs by the way), but my new ones just sort of hold them where they normally sit so when I take them off it's like they have less stretching to do. I find now that when I get up out of bed I have to hold my boobs in place as any movement really hurts them.

Aldo feeling slightly better here and now worrying why! Can't win.

Man this thread moves fast. I don't want to get left behind :( Sorry if it just seems like I talk about myself but there's so many of us, I can only seem to manage to respond to one or two different posts.

DS has been so unwell this week - high temp and hardly eating. He's had maybe three meals since Monday. I keep trying to tempt him with something but I guess if he has a tummy bug, his body is right to refuse food. Still drinking plenty of water.

Re dresses I only really bought one proper maternity dress. Wrap dresses were wonderful, as was anything with an empire line - I just went up a size to account for bigger breasts! And I was huge with DS. Like a freakin' weeble because I'm short and he was a big baby. I also found tighter fitting stretchy tops were more flattering than maternity wear because you looked less like you were wearing a tent. I got a lot of long sleeve long line stretchy tops from Primark and wore them with linen trousers slung low.

theonewiththenoisychild · 01/08/2014 08:45

morning everyone. i finally have symptoms. massive sore breasts Sad and i usually get wierd dreams when preggers but last nights dreams were just mental Grin

ZebraZeebra · 01/08/2014 08:51

brummiegirl I also had a massive freak out when pregnant last time despite having been desperate for a baby. I think it's just the prospect of change. And the unknown compared to the safe "known" right now. But believe me babies, in the first year, are generally incredibly accommodating of anything you want to do. Mostly they just want to be cuddles and fed, and a few months down the line, the world is an exciting place to oggle at. I would highly recommend both of you getting used to a sling because it frees you up so much - you can pretty much do anything with a baby in a sling! We went hiking round tye Peak District with two month old DS :)

smokeandglitter · 01/08/2014 08:51

theone I've been having dreams too. Last night I dreamt I was bleeding, cue running to bathroom this morning! Empathising with sore huge breasts!

Here's my scan pic for those who asked Grin

Surfsup1 · 01/08/2014 08:57

Both the wedding and the Holly/Bollywood parties could be covered by a fabulous sparkly Kaftan-ish kind of dress. Camilla Frank does amazing ones (a bit exy though). Have a google!
Brummie - if it's your first baby your unlikely to look properly pregnant at 16 weeks - maybe just like you ate too much cake! Subsequent pregnancies seem to show up MUCH faster though!
I just had the most annoying conversation with a friend of mine (not her fault) about how awesome my year was going to be next year because I'd have both my boys at school and I'd be able to go surfing every day! Ahhhrgh!! Little does she know!

ZebraZeebra · 01/08/2014 09:01

Slings I could talk about all day, if anyone is new to them :) I had a Baby Bjorn but I really wouldn't recommend them - no lumber support for wearer and they aren't good for the baby's hip and pelvis placement, which should basically be frog leg like - wide and high as oppose to long dangling legs

We had a Close stretchy fabric wrap which is like a Kari Me, which we also had and loved, but is sort of pre-stitched into one of the holds already so less starting from scratch with the wrapping. You can still also do different holds in it and BF in it so still versatile. When DS got bigger and heavier w then moved to a Beco Gemini which is pretty much the same as an Ergo but in prettier colours.

I did use the Bjorn for a while but it hurt my back and then I read about the hip displacement it causes so got rid of it.

So there you go. Massive sling fan. They're wonderful things for soothing your baby, given the kangaroo care aspect of them, snuggled in close to mummy and feeling your heartbeat. DS was an October baby and I just wore DH's much larger parka and zipped it up around us both. Even when I was pushing the buggy around, DS was mostly in a sling.

smokeandglitter · 01/08/2014 09:06

Oh yes, Zebra, I really want to get a sling.

theonewiththenoisychild · 01/08/2014 09:07

smoke i cant see your scan photo on the app but glad little bean is ok in there Grin

and i dreamt that we were at my sisters party and we went outside and some kids were kicking a baby hedghog around so oh picked it up. he hurt his hand n we were faffing over that. next minute me and oh and someone elses child got put in a car by a crazy ex boyfriend and pushed into the river. then we escaped and went back to my sisters party where i sat on the floor and sobbed and asked for a very stiff drink Sad

smokeandglitter · 01/08/2014 09:12

Wow, theone, sounds distressing! Did it take you a while to recover when you woke? Dreams are so strange. I've done a lot of dream interpretation and tend to analyse my dreams, though sometimes I just think 'Crikey, that one is just too weird!' Haha.

ZebraZeebra · 01/08/2014 09:16

Wow that's a distressing dream! Sounds like it was very vivid.

ZebraZeebra · 01/08/2014 09:20

Oh smoke I can see your little bean - how exciting!!!!

smokeandglitter · 01/08/2014 09:23

Thanks Zebra! Couldn't believe the little heartbeat either! So exciting! Grin

theonewiththenoisychild · 01/08/2014 09:43

smoke and zebra i wasnt distressed when i woke up as i am used to having crazy dreams when im pregnant. its very rare im pregnant in the dream tho which is odd

FoscarC · 01/08/2014 09:45

smoke what a beautiful scan!!

I think I'll be showing at 16weeks. I already have a little bump at 9+4 and this is my first.

Has anyone heard from eatscake I keep meaning to ask as she used to be quite a regular in here and I haven't seen her name for ages and wanted to check she's ok.

I had my first really naughty sex dream last night (I hear they are common in pregnancy). Very vivid. I'm not complaining, it was quite fun!

I also want a sling so thanks for the advice. I am convinced I will strap on the baby and can get on with doing more
Normal things then.

theonewiththenoisychild · 01/08/2014 09:47

i had one once where my sister and mum were working in a hugr factory and it was on fire it was all over the news i went to the hospital i gave my mum and sisters name and my sister was crytical in the burns unit and my mum wasnt there. i kept giving them her name i woke up crying and couldnt go back to sleep i then realised i had been giving them my mums previous married name (she is a widow and remarried) but i was upset for days after that

MGFM · 01/08/2014 10:17

A friend of mine just sent me a picture of her scan. It looks like a little baby. Can't believe that my blob will turn into that in 5 weeks ! Amazing.

It is our 1st anniversary today. We bought each other the same card! Lol I got dh a voucher for a one day cookery lesson at a nice place in London. It looks prettyggreat. He has had our vows done all nice and framed. We made up our own vows. Nice big lay in and of course dtd. Super sensitive nipped today. Amazing. This afternoon we are off to the Cotswolds for the weekend and we have a great restaurant booked in chipping Norton. Can't wait! Might have one glass if champagne.

MGFM · 01/08/2014 10:18
