Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

interesting you should say that zing
DS was refusing to sleep in his Moses basket and then last night I put him on his side and he managed to sleep for 3 hours

he has got a LOT of wind and seems to be farting and being sick all the time. I am winding him after feeds. Any other suggestions??

AuntieMaggie · 15/07/2014 19:00

moses baskets mw suggested putting the mattress on your lap so when baby falls asleep they're already asleep on the mattress and you just lift the mattress into the moses basket so you don't disturb them. I haven't tried it as my main bed is a crib and mattress is a bit big for that! Also she suggested putting a muslin down your top for a bit and putting it in the crib so it smells of you.

AuntieMaggie · 15/07/2014 19:02

I'm with you on the farting coco even after lots of winding here too!

Incapinka · 15/07/2014 20:07

Another one who puts babies on their sides. They sleep so much better. Just rotate them each feed.

Sorry zing you have had a rubbish day. Go and look at them when they are asleep and all innocent and you will love them again!

Congrats to blue and bear. And we have joined the club too! Woke this morning with twinges. Got up at 8 and walking round the house contractions kicked in. 8.20 this morning left house with DS, dropped him off with his godmother and then DH drove as quickly as he could to hospital. Walking across the car park and to the maternity unit was tough and they seemed shocked that I needed a room NOW and for someone to look at me. Thank god they did as DD was born 10 mins later. Few stitches needed but only minor damage and within 8 hours we are home. Phew!!! Wishing everyone else speedy safe deliveries. And just remember once it is over it doesn't seem as bad as you thought it was whilst it was happening! (If that makes sense)

GrouchyKiwi · 15/07/2014 20:11

Congratulations, Incapinka! Glad you got there on time.

BlueC2 · 15/07/2014 20:19

Woohoo Inca there's been some quick labours for people on here Envy hope all going well now you're home and stitches not too painful!

Re wind we used infacol before each feed with DS which helps the small bubbles of wind to gather in big bubbles so easier for them to burp/fart out.

Maggie I use the breast pads to protect my tops but in early days with DS I need get on one of my favourite tops :(

ickle no experience of nipple shields I'm afraid. Keep lathering on the lanisoh and maybe see if you can get the latch checked. It may just be general wear and tear- I've been suprised how sharp/hard DD's gums are in comparison to DS's mouth full of teeth (still doing his bedtime feed) I've already got a small blister on one side!

Sure I've mentioned this before but this book is excellent: The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by la leche league.

coco808 · 15/07/2014 20:38

ickle I use a nipple shield when it gets sore. I do for about 24 hrs in which time it heals really well and I don't have to use it till the same happens again. Takes DS about 5 mins or so to get used to the shield but then he is fine. I am v grateful to the MW who suggested it!

mupperoon · 15/07/2014 21:24

Congratulations inca and baby girl!

Plateofcrumbs · 15/07/2014 21:56

Wow incapinka i've had trips to Ikea that have taken longer than that! Congratulations!

moresnow I only feed DS at bedtime and most of my contractions were in the evening after that so think it was having an impact-plus on Sunday night DS wanted extra milk when he woke at 11.30pm and by midnight I was having regular contractions which carried on. So once things are ready for you I think a well timed feed could be just what you need :)

Our intro of DS to DD didn't go quite to plan as DD decided she wanted to feed just before DS got home so was feeding when he came in. However he was so excited to be home, see me and see DD I don't think he noticed. He has clearly been a bit unsettled today though and this afternoon when I was trying to get DD to latch he kept saying DS's DS's milk! But was good about his bedtime feed which I sandwiched between two bits of DD feeding. Will be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow and when my milk comes in.

So I'm sleeping on the sofa (again) tonight with DD in Moses basket next to me. DH totally wasted so means he can hopefully get an undisturbed night as he'll be taking the load looking after DS in next while and he was getting v frustrated with him today though think it was the tiredness. Am interested to see how well (or not) DD sleeps tonight and how much she feeds.

Night all - for the moment :)

NancyinCali · 16/07/2014 00:17

Congratulations inca!

I'm very behind on the thread - hope everyone else is doing okay!

I went to pre-natal yoga today for the first time in weeks and felt good for it. Hopefully next week will be my last class [crosses fingers].

SmallOlympianBear · 16/07/2014 00:19

Congrats incapinka. Bet you were glad to make it to the delivery room!

Ickle, I've used nipple shields briefly (like MoreSnow, DD turned out to have tongue tie) and they may help you through a few feeds, I'd agree with others about getting the latch checked if possible.

2 year old DD is being very sweet with her bsby brother. Although she's no longer breastfeeding, she offered to show DS what to do yesterday!

museumworker · 16/07/2014 00:34

Congrats to all of you whose babies have come already - too many to mention! Been reading along at night, but can't post from phone, hence the silence. Has been lovely to hear how you're all getting on.

Have had period like cramps on and off for 3 weeks now (BH since about 22 weeks), but no other signs of baby coming. Due date is Saturday, and as DS came 5 days early and DD 2 days early was hoping this one would come a bit earlier than now... especially as keep pulling a stomach muscle making looking after DS impossible! I can't walk, stand or bend over when it goes, and sitting hurts too, for a few hours at least. So he's been in nursery more - which has left me fed up, trying to 'rest' at home. Can't sleep with weight of bump so constantly knackered!

At last scan, the bean was still measuring off the scale - but not disproportionately more than last time so the hospital is hoping I come early (naturally) too but am told can still have mid-wife led birth. Have an appointment with the Late Pregnancy Clinic tomorrow so will see what they say.

icklekid · 16/07/2014 02:00

incapinka huge congratulations on your little one! Babies arriving now thick and fast!

Got midwife coming today so will get her to check latch again just in case- generally all fine. Bur right now after a zillion attempts theo is feeding but not great position. Couldn't face trying yet again though! Hes swallowing lots so that will do for me! He has also been asleep in basket since 9.30pm just waking for feeds Grin think actual milk fills him up more and then he can settle better? Final question- his cord fell off into a very dirty nappy- have binned it no one needs to see it do they?!

icklekid · 16/07/2014 02:10

olympian just read about your dd offering to show baby how breastfeeding is done! That is way roo cute!

NancyinCali · 16/07/2014 03:39

bear that's so cute Smile

Rough evening with dd1 since picking her up from daycare. Every little thing has set her off into meltdown land. Dread to think what she'll be like once her baby sister is here. She's teething and is tired so I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow. Otherwise we'll be watching a lot of Peppa pig.

hayley thought of you earlier as I got a sudden urge to bleach the kitchen!

BlueC2 · 16/07/2014 04:40

ickle yeah for cod going-really dislike it! No one needs to see it so don't worry about that. So glad Theo settling better now he's got a tummy full of yummy mummy milk! :) How are you feeling - how are all your stitches etc doing? Hope you're feeling less sore.

bear v cute of your DD. Think DS might do that but is currently a little too precious about his milky at the moment.

Well, it was a good idea to be downstairs tonight- not sure I've had more than half an hour of sleep as DD has fed pretty much every hour for nearly 20min then winding and snuggles and 2 more meconium filled nappies! She hates having a dirty nappy. Lots of memories of the early days with DS flooding back :)

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 16/07/2014 05:56

So behind on the thread!

Massive congratulations to inca and bear - the babies are really coming fast now :)

Hope everyone's well, off to try and catch some sleep before next feed!

icklekid · 16/07/2014 08:27

Thanks blue do think the swelling is going down, can move around a bit more easily would love to go outside and get some fresh air. ..dh put some grass seed down so not allowed in the garden Sad

Theo also hates dirty nappies just glad they aren't still tar filled!

nancy hope dd gets better- has baby got a present ready for big sister? Bizarre concept but seems to be the 'done' thing at the moment!

Incapinka · 16/07/2014 09:07

Thanks everyone. Funny to think this time yesterday I was trying to get myself from car to maternity as quickly as possibly for her to arrive at 920. What am utterly bonkers day that was. Despite her sleeping and feeding brilliantly all day and evening she turned into a bit of a monster suckling from 1100-130 and then 430-630. And now she is sleeping in her basket looking all angelic whilst I look like an old hag. Very glad DS stayed at my parents last night as poor chap won't like his sleep being interrupted!!

We have a present for him from the baby. It is something that he has wanted for ages so am hoping it will be a good distraction for him. Now just trying to work out when is the best time for him to come home as miss him desperately. Either today or tomorrow...

TheBookofRuth · 16/07/2014 10:19

Hello. I was due 26th July but gave birth to a beautiful baby boy this morning at 7.45 after 9 hours in labour weighing 6lb 14oz.

Very proud and happy Grin

BlueC2 · 16/07/2014 10:50

Huge congrats bookofruth :)

Inca I've been up the whole night with guzzling DD too- thankfully DS slept through but have had nightmare morning!

DH had full night's sleep since DD and I were downstairs but still not with it this morning and not coping with DS's extra neediness. DH decided he would shave his head this morning plus long shower etc so I was left with DD who would not sleep as she just wanted more and more milk and DS who just wanted Mummy's attention! Then just as I'd got DD off to sleep MWs arrived, took no notice of DS, woke DD up to check her, insisted I feed her so they could check latch and then announced that they had visited by accident as it shouldve been the homebirth team that came Shock (who did come yesterday!!) so they left me with upset DS, awake and upset DD and DH still in the shower! Not impressed!! DH now finally taken DS out, saying he'll be back at 12.30 if lunch could be ready please!?! So have just firmly told him that since chances of me actually resting this morning are limited and no idea whether DD will settle he should assume he'll be sorting lunch out himself and should be back by 12 so DS doesn't get overtired!! And DM due to visit today too but has left 1hr later than planned so she won't be here in time to sort out lunch either!

What a morning- I just need to sleep but don't feel I can relax at all! Oh and now DD just woken again! Definitely much easier the first time around with only one small person to sort out!! Sorry for lengthy moan!

BlueC2 · 16/07/2014 11:08

I should add that DH feels awful for not getting himself sorted quicker/helping more this morning.

I'm taking solace in a large bar of galaxy chocolate and holding back exhausted tears!

Incapinka · 16/07/2014 11:41

Oh blue that is rubbish. So sorry your DH is being a bit pathetic. Mine is attempting to work this week from home. So far this is going ok but will see how it works out when DS is back. He's on his way now!! Very strange not having him here. Fingers crossed all ok.

And blue. Rest. Or try to. Do not make your husband lunch.

DH not doing any training this week as did a 1/2 IM on Sunday and had to cancel his back appt due to baby yesterday so can't do any exercise now until Saturday at the earliest. I cannot for the life of me see how he can do an IM in September now that she is here but somehow I think he will after investing so much time and money so far. It's going to be a fun 9&1/2 weeks.
