Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

Still pregnant.

its I am hoping to go into labour tonight once DD safely tucked up in bed and all is calm and quiet. If I don't I'll blame you for getting my hopes up WinkWink. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon I really hope I don't make it to!

NancyinCali · 31/07/2014 03:47

Just read this for a bit of revision. It's about the first 6 weeks of breastfeeding. (Hopefully I've had more success with the clicky link this time)

Howly · 31/07/2014 08:26

40+6 and still pregnant! Had irregular cramping all night that's still lingering so hopefully this will develop into something but not getting my hopes up! I have a holistic session at the hospital today where they may offer a sweep again today so hopefully that will get things going! The sessions also offer reflexology so looking forward to that!

Fox28 · 31/07/2014 10:15

40+5 and still pregnant too! Just had midwife appointment and feeling really deflated Sad Had to see a different midwife at a different place as mine wasn't available, and she didn't make me feel great. She did an internal but said cervix is too far back to do a sweep (last week my normal midwife still had a go anyway) and gave me bishops score of 2 (last week 3) Sad Booked for induction, and can't see baby arriving before then now. If I'm induced I have to go to a different hospital - I wanted to go to MLU Sad

Sophia Grace Elliot Kiwi was born at 7.25 this morning

GrouchyKiwi · 31/07/2014 10:54

Oops. Will give details tomorrow but it was fairly quick and intense. Happy but exhausted!

Fox28 · 31/07/2014 11:00

Congratulations Kiwi!

Emilybunny · 31/07/2014 11:07

Congratulations kiwi!!

Finally reached my due date... I have an appointment on Saturday morning when I will be 40+2 I wondered what people's opinions are on sweeps and induction? X

mupperoon · 31/07/2014 11:36

Congratulations Kiwi, that is a lovely name!

Still pregnant here at 40+2. Had a great day yesterday - walked into town with husband for a lovely tapas lunch with cheeky glass of sherry, followed by the most delicious deep afternoon kip. Have just woken up from a 10 hour sleep (obviously with wee breaks but still!)

Have to go to be monitored today as I refused induction at 40 weeks TWICE on Tuesday to two different registrars on what should have been a 2 hr max visit to triage and turned into a 6 hr sweaty nightmare due to shift change and lack of communication. Hey ho!

Good luck everyone else who's still waiting!

mupperoon · 31/07/2014 11:52

Emily there's not a lot of real evidence that sweeps are very effective (for every 8 women who have sweeps, only 1 avoids induction). That didn't stop me having one on Monday and I'll have another next Monday. The prostaglandin pessaries are quite effective at avoiding the syntocinon drip. It's the drip I want to avoid if possible as there's a higher rate of epidural associated with it.

BlueC2 · 31/07/2014 13:29

Ooh! Congrats kiwi Sophia was on my girls list of names :) and congrats to pixie too-hope you can go home soon.

Nancy, mupperoon, Emily fox sending happy labour vibes your way-hope it all happens soon!

Had a tough evening with DD but a better night so feel we're making progress albeit slowly! Right, now to see if she'll have a nap while DS is asleep so I can catch 40 winks too!

ZingGoesPop · 31/07/2014 13:49

Kiwi -yay! Congratulations!

Pixie - you too, I hope apart from weight everything is ok.

good luck Nancy and everyone else! Come on babies, hurry up!Smile

ZingGoesPop · 31/07/2014 13:56

I had severe stomach cramps early hours yesterday.
And ever since giving birth I haven't felt right, ftom that awful pushing onto my stomach.

so went to GP this morning, turns out I have gastroenteritis and I tore some abdominal muscles around my stomach while in labour.

I knew it. I knew something wasn't right. I can't breathe properly, nor stand up straight. and can't shout (lucky kids)

got meds for gastro stuff, muscles might take weeks to heal, but will be ok.
sooo glad it's the summer so I don't have to lift DD & baby in & out of car countless times.

oh and my back constantly aches from bf, I can't sit straight anyway, but arching over Elijah really screws up my back.

all the joys of early postpartum stage!

BlueC2 · 31/07/2014 14:06

howly hope you're doing ok? Just wanted to say thanks for posting the link to the BF article, very interesting read! I think for me especially interesting as I'm finding this breastfeeding journey quite different to with DS. I may even send the link to DH as I somehow need to educate him not to expect it all to now settle into the same easy pattern as with DS... DD is quite a different character :)

Emilybunny · 31/07/2014 14:19

Hi zing so sorry to hear how poorly you have been following the pregnancy, labour and now with a new baby you must be exhausted. Glad you went to the doctor and are hopefully on the mend. Do keep us updated as to your recovery.

Congratulations pixie on your new baby! Hope he increases in his weight and you are recovering well from C section too.

Thank you mupperoon for the advice I'm hoping I can avoid the sweep and or induction.. I'm just so fed up and stressed and sure this is counterproductive to labour starting so really want to try to relax and let nature try to start this thing going

Fox when is your induction booked for? Is there a specific reason you will have to change hospitals? Poor you... I really
Hope things start up for you and you don't have to wait until
Induction.

Good luck everyone else who is still expecting. I guess we will probably all be August babies now..... X

BlueC2 · 31/07/2014 14:22

Oh zing that's rubbish :( just shows how easy it is to strain or hurt muscles when relaxin gushing around our bodies! My back was v sore for quite a while after labour since I was having contractions for so long, and yes, feeding, carrying, lifting newborn doesn't help! And when you've got other DC to tend to then the positions you end up feeding in are v less than ideal (or so I find, when trying to feed DD whilst sorting lunch out for DS or reading him a book or pushing him on his trike!). None of this childbearing/rearing thing is glamorous!
