Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

Came ino hospital for my holistics session and ended up on a heart rate monitor for baby, not the relaxing for massage I had planned!! The babies heart rate is a bit low, they tell me not dangerously low but trace is now being checked by a doctor in the hope I can go back and have my foot massage!!

NancyinCali · 31/07/2014 17:15

Thanks emily. Just walked DD to nursery (usually drive!) to see if that helps.

howly hope all okay and you get your massage!

Plateofcrumbs · 31/07/2014 17:35

Those getting close to induction - the induction element of my birth really wasn't bad at all. 6 hour pessary kicked things off nicely, didn't need the dreaded drip and was able to stay reasonably active despite being on CTG monitoring throughout (standing by bed until the pushing started).

NancyinCali · 31/07/2014 17:50

That's good to hear plate. I'm hoping something might kick off soon but seeing midwife later so will find out what the next steps are.

icklekid · 31/07/2014 17:57

Good luck Nancy not long to go...
howly hope your ok- I had a drip etc and what matters most is that baby is ok!

Right really sorry need a moan about dh... hes just got in from work having left early and had a hair cut rather than come and see me and ds. Even after I text saying had been a tough first afternoon alone (that he didn't reply to). He theb says he's going for a run- we had a conversation yesterday where I said I didn't want him not to be able to do what he wants to but would be useful to know in advance. To which is said well I will go tomorrow then and laughed- I should have realised this was serious so realise I am probably being unreasonable here! He then says hes going out tomorrow eve to see a friend (who has also just become a dad) he then says it's not as if he's been out any other night this week- my only response was did he think I had been?! Then just as I was trying to stay calm he said how he had just had to take the bin in even though I'd been here all day. Well that was one thing too many and I may have cried and said I have coped the best I can today by myself. His response was he was only joking and why was I taking him seriously. Honestly I am tired and exhausted after a crying baby most of this afternoon. Right going to stop now as reliving it is frustrating me even more...time to breath!

Howly · 31/07/2014 18:59

All is well, just a chilled baby, I have a low heart rate too so maybe it's hereditary! I managed to have my session, full sweep, acupressure and reflexology! Sweep was a success, 2 dilated nice and soft!! So fingers crossed for movement soon! Still have cramps and back ache! I have a bishops score of 5, just about to google what that means!

mupperoon · 31/07/2014 19:12

Plate thanks for the positive pessary story! I don't feel so bad about that, although annoying if I can't use the birth centre.

Emily are they hassling you to be induced? My midwife team aren't but because I'm over 40 the maternity unit is obsessed with inducing me! I'm going to hold off as long as I can as there's no evidence that baby is suffering from its incarceration (yet).

Kiwi palpable frustration with phone there, is it wrong to admit I giggled at that string of posts? Grin

mupperoon · 31/07/2014 19:12

Howly glad you are seeing Bishop score progress!

BlueC2 · 31/07/2014 20:12

Oh ickle so sorry about DH and tough afternoon :( Hope you're feeling bit better now and that DH has realised why you got upset

Emilybunny · 31/07/2014 20:27

Hi mupperoon yeah they are pretty keen. I'm only 28 first baby and no complications so hoping to wait it out, baby can sometimes be irregular with movements (not much and then suddenly more) I then end up reading stuff on the internet about kick counting etc that scares me so have been for a trace 3/4 times to
Check baby is ok I think that's why they are keen to induce..

plate this is my first baby so totally inexperienced... Can you tell me what's bad about the drip in induction? Also what does a bishops score mean?

ickle sorry to hear things have been tough for you today.... Is there anything you can do to unwind/relax to make yourself feel more positive? I haven't had a baby yet so wouldn't know how realistic this is but I know that feeling calm and giving yourself 5 mins whenever you can find it to make yourself feel better can help when things are challenging, and hopefully make it easier to talk to DH about these things that are upsetting you. I hope you find a resolution and he can help you out. Good luck!

Emilybunny · 31/07/2014 20:28

Good luck howly thinking of you....

Fourlittleclones · 31/07/2014 20:49

zing poor you , that's the last thing you need with a newborn. Hope you feel better soon. It's useful having older kids who can lift the baby. I have a severe umbilical hernia and find it helps if someone can hand the baby to me when I've settled on sofa to feed , rather than trying to get into a comfortable position with him in my arms.

nancy good luck!

Found out today that ds has an extremely high palate and tongue tie. The palate is causing the problems with feeding because he can't draw the nipple to the roof of his mouth. I was shown some strange feeding positions to help counteract this but they are all very uncomfortable. Feel a bit emotional as the experts think there is a good chance all my children have had the same problem (they were never checked) and that this could be the reason why I could never ebf and had to give formula top ups. They just never stimulated the breast correctly.

I have spent so many agonising hours thinking I was failing them when in fact it wasn't me at all.

Apparently cranial osteopathy could help him. Had first session today.

icklekid · 31/07/2014 21:09

Thanks blue and Emily he came back from his run and apologised.

Ds after screaming for last 2h+ is now asleep on me- however he got so hot stripped him to a nappy so need to try and put something on before putting him down. ..

four I know it might not help but at least you now know there is nothing more you could have done. ..

emily drip makes labour progress fast and painfully hence bad (and why I then had an epidural)

Fourlittleclones · 31/07/2014 21:54

ickle glad you got an apology. Reading your account of today made me cross. I think sometimes they don't realise how intense it is looking after a newborn baby and how relentless it can be in the early days. When finding time to go to the loo can be challenging, putting out the bins is an impossibility .

But... They don't get to experience the overwhelming feelings of love and adoration , the cuddles , the sense of achievement, in quite the same way.

Howly · 31/07/2014 22:49

Things getting going here I think! Moderate contractions roughly 8 mins apart, too scared to lie down just in case they stop!! Just going to time a few more then try and sleep! Hopefully I will have a baby by morning - although it will be an August baby!!

NancyinCali · 01/08/2014 00:32

Fingers crossed howly

I think I'm on target for an august baby too unless something dramatic happens in the next 7 hours (4.30pm here).

I'm currently 4cm dilated and contractions are a little more regular since having the examination. I'm heading into hospital on Saturday for another check-up and possible induction if we decide we want to (she was happy to wait to see me again until next week but I'm too impatient!)

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 01/08/2014 01:41

Congratulations kiwiand pixie!

Howly glad baby is ok.

Fingers crossed for you nancy and all others still awaiting arrivals.

ickle I think I would have been really upset at that! DH and I were discussing what we were finding hardest about looking after a newborn - his was 'lack of a social life' - I'm not sure if you're not the one home all day alone you really quite get it!

DS has just slept for 4 hours! Feel almost human although now my breasts are MASSIVE.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 01/08/2014 01:42

Ooh missed that contractions had ramped up for you howly - good luck!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 01/08/2014 01:46

four glad you've discovered the problem - hope the osteopathy helps.

icklekid · 01/08/2014 03:39

Wow nancy 4cm dilated and they don't think you will have baby until Saturday! Hope today is the day for a nice painfree birth Wink

howly hope things progressed or you got some sleep!

its glad not being totally unreasonable! If dh and I had thwt conversation fairly sure answer would be the non stop screaming every eve Sad

ZingGoesPop · 01/08/2014 04:14

so it's 4 am and I haven't slept yet.
I'm in pain.
just took paracetamol and trying to drink water but it makes me feel sick (and weirdly I burp a lot)

it's like someone put a fist in and grabbed my stomach.
it hurts when I just sit or lie down, but worse when I stand up, walk, talk, laugh, cough etc.
I have to gently push on my tummy (area just under ribcage, in the middle) to support it.

I read a bit about gastroenteritis and now I wonder if that's what causes the stomach pain is as I didn't have the runs and only felt sick & vomited because of coughing up phlegm.
lack of 2 main symptoms for a highly infectious disease is just bizarre.

Elijah was weighed on Wed and had put on a but if weight, (yay!) but keeps missing feeds as cannot be woken for hours, at least twice a day...
he'll be weighed again on Monday and I'm already dreading it.

I am so fed up.
if it didn't cause pain I'd cry.

Howly · 01/08/2014 05:35

Things sort if died down by midnight, mild contractions about 15 mins apart so managed to fall asleep around 1.30 and ignore them and they just woken me up again how! Glad to get done sleep but wish they would get worse already seriously fed up but trying to stay relaxed! It's taking so long!

BlueC2 · 01/08/2014 07:28

zing I did wonder when you said gastorentoritis as that's normally v grim vomiting and diarrhoea and you hadn't mentioned those as key symptoms Hmm really hope the pain eases and you feel better soon though.

howly hang in there - slow start stop early labour is v v frustrating (been there myself!). This thread has seen a lot of that as well as some insanely quick 'out of the blue' labours

ickle does DS have colic? Crying for several hours each evening is sometimes a symptom? V trying though!

its yeah for a long sleep but know how you feel when you wake to giganta-boob :)

Am concluding here that DD just likes to cluster feed between 7pm-10pm ish and 5am-8am (yawn) but that if I just go with it then it makes the remaining day and night times easier could really do without the morning session though!!

icklekid · 01/08/2014 09:50

Oh zing!sounds awful hope you got some sleep and can sort some pain relief today

Yes blue I've been thinking it might be colic so stsrted using infacol to see if it helps...hope the morning cluster feed doesn't last too much longer. Would lying down to feed help?

zing was it you who recommended cranial osteopathy? A friend said good to settle babies especially those thatvhsd intervention at birth- been wondering about it for ds? Any thoughts?

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 01/08/2014 10:07

Sending unmumsnetty hugs to you zing - that sounds rubbish. Is it worth trying to get a second opinion from a GP or similar?

howly I think stop start early labours are different for everyone - but in my case it did mean a fairly fast active stage (5.5 hours) once I actually got there so hoping for the same for you and anyone else (nancy?) in the frustrating world of pre labour.
