Frank, we've started weaning. He's almost 5 months... . Tbh, each mealtime was becoming a battle of him stealing food from my plate/my hand/my mouth/other people so I just bit the bullet, assuming that he's telling me something. Banana and apple are going down well.

FriendofDorothy · 23/08/2014 20:50

Two Elizabeths and an Eliza. Something of a theme!

FrankelandFilly · 23/08/2014 21:53

To be honest Sinks one of the main reasons I've been holding off with E is so that we can go straight to BLW and I don't have to purée stuff I probably won't do any more for another week or two, she's 5.5 months on Monday so we're almost there. Of course she will probably end up demanding purees anyway if she can't get food down fast enough!

SinkyMalinks · 23/08/2014 22:15

Yup, R would love to feed himself - but it's all a little haphazard atm! He can hold a cucumber stick quite well, and loves sucking on any apple I eat. His grip is a bit uncontrolled for banana - it gets puréed through his fingers! Spoon feeding or sucking off my finger is route of choice... Only if he also has a spoon to hold... Got to love my independent baby!

FrankelandFilly · 23/08/2014 22:18

Have you tried giving him banana with the skin still on? I've seen some people cut a piece of banana about 4 inches long, then trim the skin away from the top few inches, leaving it on the bottom so it looks a bit like an ice cream cone.

eurochick · 23/08/2014 23:50

Congratulations! Lovely name. It is my middle name. :). Hope you are doing well and test the forceps were not too traumatic.

SinkyMalinks · 24/08/2014 09:24

Oh, I've not seen that frank. I was thinking yesterday that there must be some way to offer if with skin on... Will try (except the bananas I have atm are still pretty green - I ended up eating R's yesterday)

SinkyMalinks · 24/08/2014 09:26

Oh and, fankle and cunty, where are you? this is rapidly becoming the worst antenatal thread possible and bugs needs antenatal company!

(Feels a bit guilty for filling thread with weaning chatter!)

, in case my explanation was unclear.

Bugs, that's annoying but glad you realised now.

CuntyChops · 24/08/2014 18:35

You called? Sorry for the extended absence - despite being on summer holiday I've been busy clearing out spare rooms and redecorating. Still haven't started on the nursery yet but we should be ready to crack on with that by the end of the week. I'm at 16 weeks now and starting to get a bit of energy back. If I could just get rid of this permanent stuffy nose that'd be peachy!

Massive congratulations Ginge; hope you're settling down for some lovely snuggles! Thanks

How're you getting on Bugs? Sorry for abandoning you - have some apology cake Cake

I'm off to catch up with the new Doctor Who episode Tardis

Oops, sorry hags, have inadvertently gone a week without posting. Congrats to Ginge hope you're both doing well and recovering.

Bugs you're up next! You sound like you're very organised with decorating your nursery and getting a high chair. You too cunty We have been decorating the hall this weekend. Forgot how long it takes to do all the edges and the chaos it creates! And I'm worried the colour is a bit too dark for my long hallway which is bright at the front but darker at the back. Humpf.

Am miserable with bloody FLAMING heartburn. Going to Boots tomorrow to get that stuff a few of you recommended the other week. It sort of comes and goes but for the last few days it seems to be coming more often and lasting longer. I'm so burpy...and a bit farty. Feel quite unattractive. I love my bump but I'm not enjoying the aches and pains- my lower back, sides, thighs and torso have felt stiff all day. Probably to do with bending lots whilst decorating (have been told not to go up ladders by MG so he's doing all the high bits and ceiling). I prob need to go for a swim or get a massage to loosen up. Am doing lots of stretches every morning as that's the only way to ease my lower back pain, which is at it's worst in the morning.

Oh and my second anomaly scan is on Friday so have already begun with the menkul. Baby didn't move at all last time and I've still not felt movement yet. Getting a bit anxious and Friday can't come soon enough.

Well, i bet you're all glad I returned with a big list of complaints and a me me me post!

eurochick · 25/08/2014 07:55

Hurrah for the differs resurfacing!

Bugs, I admire your preparedness. 32 weeks is when we were first told we needed to deliver there and then. Enjoy those last few weeks. I feel cheated that I didn't get them.

Ginge, how are you and mini-ginge doing?

C gave us a panic last night. She looked like she had given herself a black eye! She had been on her playmat and suddenly started wailing. I can only think that when she was waving her arms around she has managed to punch herself in the eye. We debated taking her to a and e, but the swelling started to go down and it seems ok this morning. She does like to worry us!

RaspberrySnowCone · 25/08/2014 08:24

Morning ladies, congratulations on a pink one Ginge! Bugs......are you really next?!

How is everyone getting on? Thought I'd muscle in and say my hellos again.

Hope your littles ones are all doing well. I seem to be surrounded by pregnancy and babies at the moment and not particularly bothered by it, never thought I'd say that.! We've just been confirmed onto stage 2 which is the big home study assessment you always hear the TV shows talk about. SW visits should start in a few weeks and be finished around Christmas all being well. ?? trying not to get ahead of myself as we are still not sure 1) if we will get approved 2) if we do get approved what age/gender 3) if 1) & 2) are sorted how long a match and placement could take but I can't help looking at toddle toys/furniture etc. it's scary!

Just as exciting for me at the moment is Game of Thrones, we are completely hooked. Bugs were you the GoT addict or was it Ginge? Either way I now own the box set

TheOriginalWinkly · 25/08/2014 08:40

Hi rasp, great to hear from you. Sounds like you're making brilliant progress, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Please do keep us updated. How's everything else? I think draf is our main GoT fan but I'm a big fan myself :)

euro that girl of yours must pack one hell of a punch. Glad its going down a bit. How is she otherwise? Has she been weighed recently?

fankle good luck for the scan. I take it the scanner person didn't say that Fanklette's lack of movement was anything to be concerned over? Heartburn sucks btw. Sympathy.

Rasp! So lovely to hear that things are going well! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you both that everything keeps on whizzing through the system Grin

Me and miniginge are doing well. We came home yesterday at about 3pm and she was a boob monster all day. Consequently I got not much sleep last night and was a bit zonked! I'm in a bit of pain from my stitches but doing ok Grin

I'll post pics in t'other place shortly.

RaspberrySnowCone · 25/08/2014 17:22

Everything is good at the moment thanks Winks :) still prancing round a pole quite a bit and have given the Crossfit fad a bit of a go and that's jolly good fun. I just want my little one now, still, patience is a virtue they say and I should have a lot of it after the last 5 years!

Bugs this is the biggest bit of the whole process I think, they build the reports that ultimately goes to a panel to decide whether you are suitable. Nerve-wracking doesn't even cover it but it's not to catch you out, just to make sure that hopefully one day they get the best match. That said, it's not stressful, this time last year I was in bits and a constant state of anxiety and dread, this all just feels positive, even if there's no fixed end point.

Who's next after Bug's then?

Seen the names but I've not really ventured to the other thread. I'm safer here with the old crew I think.

Bugs, for my growth scan I only got head and abdominal circumference figures and centiles. In my area they don't estimate weight (at least, not at that point. I was 30 weeks). And remember my perfectly 50th centile baby was meant to be 95th centile +...

SinkyMalinks · 25/08/2014 22:30

Oh, and great to hear from you Rasp. Saw a random post from you on t'other place and was wondering how you were getting on. I'm so pleased things are moving forward and that you seem (from a few posts!!) really happy.
