Blimey. My sweep hurt! I'm 1.5cm dilated so things are moving in the right direction, slowly. Now I'm trying to book an Ultrasound appointment for Friday, with no luck. No hospital in the city has any free spots - not helped by the fact that it is the Friday before a long weekend... Hopefully will be a moot point, baby might arrive tomorrow!

ismarah · 25/06/2014 21:03

Auntie sending good vibes your way - either way it will all work out somehow.

Liquid Bum under ribs, head down looking behind you is perfect positioning. Best apparently if they are on the right side of you but left is also fine.

icklekid · 25/06/2014 21:10

liquid I get bum in ribs loads mainly on right side don't think its anything to worry about.

Nancy boo to transverse get bouncing on that ball

Went to waterbirth workshop today was good (if a bit long) saw 2 clips of birth couldn't believe how long baby head was out before rest of baby! Def want to try in pool as possible advantages worth it Smile

lemon hope sweep works and not long to go.

Thanks for all the bra advice may venture into town and brave a look (38 weeks so don't feel can leave much later?) Also john lewis sale...

had a nosey through mine & baby bags to check all is there. ive packed a bag to be left in car with 0-3month stuff in it incase upto 1month (9lb) stuff is too small & extra stuff for me should i be kept more than 1 night. isofix has been fitted in the car, carseat & bags are waiting in spare room. tummy tub came today, ive heard good things about them and dislike the size/shape of the usual baby baths. think we're pretty much sorted apart from wallpaper in nursery but decorater is on hols. got a niggly back now & baby is thrashing about loads from sitting on gymball while checking bags. does anyone know (zing) if baby is less active before labour?

Patchworking9til5 · 25/06/2014 22:57

All those with big boobs try bravissimo. I went for a nursing bra fitting and the assistant was amazing.... (as usual) but even more so. She tried me with all the different nursing styles they had and went back time and again to make sure it was the best fit for when milk comes in. Also if you find they don't fit once milk arrives you can just call and they'll do a phone consultation and send you a different size as quickly as they can, and you can send other size back free (even if out of normal return date)
I know they don't have lots of shops but if you can get to one then it is definitely worth it. xx

osinachi · 25/06/2014 23:07

Hello ladies. Good luck to all those having babies this week. I almost wish I could fast fwd mine. Still have four weeks to go. Two weeks to maternity leave. Getting tired quite quickly and grouchy with it. My brain doesn't seem to understand that I can't do certain things now so start something and suddenly feel dizzy and need to sit :( Anyway I shouldn't moan, I've had a relatively smooth pregnancy.
On nursing bras, check H&m.
Also congratulations to those who have given birth already. All the best.

BlueC2 · 25/06/2014 23:52

Evening all - firstly auntie thinking of you lots and hoping that despite the induction you and DP can feel v close during this childbirth process and that baby's safe arrival will help along the healing process after the last few weeks! Try to stay focused on snuggly newborn cuddles if you can!

So, Hayley and anyone else planning a home water birth please please suss out and trial run your pool when it arrives!! Tonight DSD and I have worked through it all (alas DH out but we will explain all to him). I think my biggest shock was how loud the inflation pump was - like hoover loud but sounded like a hairdryer- v surprised DS slept through it but not something I would've wanted to be trying for the first time at 3am with contractions to deal with!! In fact the pool is still inflated in the living room as by the time we'd emptied it (only half filled it with cold water to test but took 40 mins to fill and same to empty!) it was too late to run the deflation pump as too noisey for DS and the neighbours. That's just a little snapshot but lots of other useful lessons learnt/things sussed out :)

V tired now though and got whooping cough jab at 9.15am tomorrow. Will be 37+5 so cutting it v fine as deadline 38weeks! Bump v active and sore again this evening with shooting pains through my hips which is fun Hmm

Hope people get some better sleep tonight!

ZingWhale · 26/06/2014 00:56

poppy

after sweep & already a bit dilated I predict your baby will be here Sat morning the latest.
(I hope you don't mind)

Auntie

big hugs to you, not feeling/being ready is crap but look what you both just been through!
you haven't had near enough time to deal with loosing your MIL.
your DH is home so that's an enormous relief, but with that comes release of tension which can make you feel weepy and exhausted.
you are nesting, worrying, getting excited...
so many different emotions and thoughts keep swapping each other, no wonder you are crying - it's just too much!!!

write a list of what you wish was done before baby is born.
choose the 3 most urgent/important ones and try to get those done soon.
then if still time, do a few more.
you will feel less overwhelmed & panicked, I promise!

I have naps. loads of them. I can assure you, it's definitely possible!Smile

liquid

aawww, don't be sad, you might have to wait a few weeks or months or years but you will be able to spend on your own!
no, it won't be the same as now, it will be most likely "ah, no kids, I can have a bath/sleep/get on with housework", especially in the beginning, but you will get the hang of carving out a bit of time for yourself and do what you like & enjoy, if you truly want it!
And when you do, I forbid you to feel guilty!Wink

3am how is it only 3? I'm officially shattered not only do my hips kill my shoulder on my left side is in agony. I'm lying on my right side feeling sick and tired. I've got a dentist appointment later and whilst I don't mind the dentist it's been nearly 2years since I've been and that's embarrassing!!! No real reason either. ..determined to do better at that from now on.

auntie thinking of you- hope you are able to feel like you can accept what you have done/need to do and just look forward to seeing your gorgeous baby.

I've gone from thinking baby will be early (a week ago had that scary pre labour experience) to thinking I will probably be late. Can we compromise and baby come on time? I'm done with being huge and uncomfortable. I would like to be sleep deprived and uncomfortable instead please with a side of constantly worrying I'm doing it wrong!

justhayley · 26/06/2014 04:45

Awwww just wrote a long old post & managed to delete it before posting ConfusedAngry can not be bothered to start again - will have to save all my replys till I'm awake at 4am tomorrow!

Quick version:

Auntie hope your ok Thanks sorry BP is up again. Is an induction a definite now or are they just thinking about it? Youv been through so much it's horrible. What kind of things are you stressing about having not been done yet? Bet in all honesty it's nothing that can't wait. (Will try and tell myself the same thing).

Blue: thanks for the tip - oh god that seems like hard workSad What pool have you got? The company I ordered from are calling me tomorrow to arrange delivery excited, but wish the room I want to birth in was ready. MW said it was perfect but I have a corner filled with unpacked boxes that will really stress me out if I have to look at them whilst in labour, & no lampshade yet. Am over being pregnant but could do with an extra month to get things exactly how I want them.

Can't remember who else I had a reply for, at almost 5am I'm now going to try & go back to sleep - although feeling really awake, & am staying at my mums and the room is really light Sad

ellentullo · 26/06/2014 05:10

After my 36+5 surprise on Sunday (baby Isaac Woodthorpe roberts) I am officially graduating to the July baby thread. Hope this isn't against the rules, given that he snuck into June?!

I was always lucky with sleeping during pregnancy - not so much with breast feeding, hence 5am post

icklekid · 26/06/2014 07:18

Congratulations ellen hope all was ok at birth and that both you and baby are well- did isaac have to be in the neo natal unit? Good luck with breastfeeding- plenty of us looking forward to joining you in baby thread soon!

hayley so many times I've deleted posts by accident tis ridiculous! Hope you are ok though!

At 5am I gave up and went downstairs to eat some thing and sit in the conservatory. Dh came down at 5.30 looking worried so came back to bed and have slept a bit more. Everything just aches or is sore... nap filled day for me then dinner with nct ladies!

Plateofcrumbs · 26/06/2014 07:24

Congratulations ellentullo Smile

Feeling nervous about the ECV tomorrow. And after seeing a very calm ELCS on OBEM last night a bit of me is wondering whether it's a better option...

Oh well, another manic day at work ahead to take mind off it!

BlueC2 · 26/06/2014 07:40

Morning all-quick question for those who've done this before-if your waters went before contractions etc started did your bump look/feel smaller/different? Basically I woke at 4am desperate for a wee, was on the sofa downstairs but managed to get upstairs to the loo (just!) at which point a torrent of wee (fluid??!) came out-utterly disproportionate to the amount I'd drunk in the preceeding hours as had barely had a sip of water since midnight and had wee'd at 1am and 2am so wondering if some of it could be waters? Between 4-5.30am I had what felt like braxton Hicks or maybe v early contractions though all died off now. Just a bit confused as my waters only went when I was about 8cm and in the pool last time so no experience to compare with!

AuntieMaggie · 26/06/2014 08:27

blue you need to phone them and let them know your waters have gone/you think they might have.

ellen congratulations.

Thank you for all your advice and good wishes ladies. It just all feels too soon given what's gone on and I don't feel ready... I told dp yesterday I feel like I'm living in an alternate universe cos it's all so surreal. We also said its probably MIL doing this for various reasons like dp being horn yesterday. Also quite weird that exactly a week almost to the minute after his mum died we were being told I was being induced.

Yes most of what needs doing can wait til baby gets here but I sent dp home with a list of stuff to do last night for the other stuff.

Yes I'm being induced as we speak Hmm pessary went in last night and pains started not long after though I've managed to get some sleep thanks to drugs. To quote my consultant I'll be having the baby today! Tbh the worst thing so far has been having the cannula put in my wrist which I always hate. I'm sure there's worse to come...

Anyway I'm off to get some breakfast before dp comes back.

ismarah · 26/06/2014 08:49

Auntie considering everything that has gone on for you and is going on right now, that post was cool as a cucumber! Clearly you both have reserves of strength and will be amazing together.

Congratulations Ellen !

Blue phone MW triage for advice. They might ask you to pop on a maternity pad and lie down for 20minutes. Water should then pool internally and gush out when you stand up. It should also smell slightly of semen if it is amniotic fluid. (Lookee what I learnt Blush )

GrouchyKiwi · 26/06/2014 08:50

Congratulations, ellen. Hope you and little one are recovering well. Enjoy!

All the best, Maggie. Looking forward to your updates.

Blue Agree with Maggie. Call the labour ward.

BlueC2 · 26/06/2014 09:23

Thanks all. Phoned triage who said put a pad on, carry on as normal and ring back in couple of hours but don't take DS swimming which is what I had planned this morning! Now at docs hoping nurse hurries up getting my whooping cough jab-have left DSD parked in bad place (he doesn't know area at all and parking chaos this morning) so really need nurse to hurry up!! Also DS could tell something up this morning so v unhappy being left with DM/Gma while I popped out!

auntie you are doing amazing!! Hang in there! Praying all goes swiftly and without complication for you today.

Ipsumlorem · 26/06/2014 09:44

auntie hoping for a swift and easy delivery for you after all youve been through - good luck and just think - you will get to meet your baby soon!! Grin

MrsA2 · 26/06/2014 09:48

Auntie, great to hear from you and sounding so positive despite everything that's been thrown at you recently. Hope that things progress very smoothly from here and you are cuddling your newborn very soon.

Congratulations Ellen!

39+2 and no signs of anything happening here yet. Planning a very relaxed day today after lots of maternity leave days running around or doing things for other people. May pop to a lovely local cafe for a latte and a read of the paper - enjoying this maternity leave stuff (apart from all the discomfort). However I suspect that will change once I go overdue and get bored waiting!

Incapinka · 26/06/2014 09:57

Good luck auntie! Tbh i didn't feel ready at 41 weeks last time!! You sound very calm and hope it all goes smoothly.

Woken up today with a cold. Oh goody. DS has it too. Feeling shattered and massive today and trying to summon the energy to go food shopping.

Hope everyone is doing ok

fifi669 · 26/06/2014 10:38

Good luck auntie!

38 weeks today, want the baby out but also terrified of the thought! I honestly think I'll sleep better with a newborn than now....

Midwife this afternoon, she said if I didn't have a date by today she'd ring the hospital to get one, eek.
