Saras I'm on at 10.30. I had a scan at 7+4- though at the time I thought I was 9+3 and was put back, so that's why they've given me another scan. It feels like ages ago since I had the scan, hence the nerves for next week!

Cherrypi · 10/06/2014 17:32

Had my booking in appointment today. They've added a few bits since last time - carbon monoxide check, heart murmur check. Been told need to be under the consultant this time. Hope it doesn't rule out a home birth. Anyone else considering one?

Happyday24 · 10/06/2014 18:05

Hi ladies, hoping for some advice. Whilst on holiday I started with a water infection, (Saturday) and recognised the signs straight away as I've had quite a few in the past. Usually I take the drink sachets ASAP and symptoms clear up. However they say 'not for pregnant ladies' so I didn't have any and tried to flush it out drinking lots of water. This didn't work.

As soon as I got home yesterday I rang the doctors but couldn't get an appointment and had to explain it all to the receptionist. She relayed it to a doctor who said not to drink the sachets and to bring a urine sample. I took it straight away and they said the results would be back today. Rang today and they said they weren't back and to ring again tomorrow.

What am I supposed to do?? It hurts, I don't want it to reach my kidneys and constantly needing the loo isn't practical at work. I have my booking in appt with a midwife tomorrow, can she prescribe anti biotics if the results are back in?

Sorry. For the mammoth post, just don't know what to do. Sad

Hi happy. In my first pregnancy the midwife called me after my booking apointment to say I had a UTI. She sent results straight to gp who called me and arranged a prescription straight away. I guess if there is a doctor around in the midwife clinic they might prescribe?

Bangkokbaby · 10/06/2014 18:26

Hello
Had my booking in appointment this morning. am feeling a bit down after it, not sure why, it was very different to what I expected. My community midwife is off so there was someone else covering. It just seemed very impersonal, she asked loads of history questions and took bloods and urine sample etc. It wasn't till afterwards I realised that she hadn't asked me a single question about how I was feeling health wise, or if I had any concerns. I felt like she was just working through a tick list of things to cover, felt a bit impersonal.

My husband had come along as he wanted to be involved, she asked him to wait in reception and only asked him to come in for my bloods (as I hate needles) and to explain about the booklets she was giving us.
I understand that there are questions about domestic violence that it would be better if I was by myself for, in case I needed to make a disclosure, but I felt he was kind of pushed out.

Do you think i'm being silly? Are all booking in appointments like this? I really hope my normal midwife is back next time!

Minibagel · 10/06/2014 18:27

I also found out I have a uti after the booking in appointment and got a prescription the same day. Is there a walk in centre at your hospital? I think they can prescribe for you

Happyday24 · 10/06/2014 18:32

Thanks everyone, my booking appt is at my doctors so hoping that will be straight forward as long as the results are back. Have thought about going to the walk in doctors further afield but I am exhausted now I'm at home and can't face going out again. My appt is at 2pm so fingers crossed that'll sort me out.

Wow! Am I the only the one with no UTi!? Hope you all recover soon ladies.

I have my scan 23rd. So a day ahead of you guys in the 24th Gang. What an exciting week tht will be :)

Minibagel · 10/06/2014 18:50

I didn't even realise I had a uti, but they said that's quite common.

Oh god. Eaten too many crisps again.

CallingAllEngels · 10/06/2014 18:56

That's a shame Bangkok - the first thing my mw asked me on Friday was "How do you feel?" And weird asking DH to step outside. Let's hope your cmw is there next time.

I swear this baby was kicking the shitbout of my side earlier. Definitely not just flutterings!

I look frickin enormous right now. Openly telling everyone but would like to keep it from my students for a bit longer.

Defi itely no hb for me cheery - but my ILs are my ndn which may have influenced me!

CallingAllEngels · 10/06/2014 18:56

Forgot to say 11+2

RPopz · 10/06/2014 19:05

I don't have a uti Wink

Happy I'm not sure why they told you your results would be back today... I'd be surprised if your sample even made it to the lab before this morning, and cultures can take days to grow. I would've thought they'd just give you a broad spectrum antibiotic straight away. Hopefully you'll have more luck tomorrow. I'm not sure if midwifes can prescribe though? Someone else may know. Hope you feel better soon anyway, utis are bad enough at the best of times! Thanks

RPopz · 10/06/2014 19:06

Sorry to hear that Bangkok - hopefully your normal midwife will be more friendly. Can't understand why she wouldn't let your partner be there. Hugs x

Sorry some of you had booking apts that weren't great. My mw (who was covering for regular mw who was away) was amazing. I had started with a bleed that morning and just burst in to tears. She gave me a hug and talked through everything. Did epu referral etc as well. She was amazing! Hope my regular mw is as amazing!

Really fed up of work. It's like they are taking advantage at the moment. I do on call as well as regular days and have decided I'm going to start to come off the on call rota through the summer as it's exhausting! That'll teach them! Grin

ilovelamp78 · 10/06/2014 19:43

So much to catch up on... What a chatty bunch we are:)

Great news camsie and good luck miss and sending out good vibes for those with UTIs, how pants that must be for you right now :(

Just got back from my scan and Bruiser is doing well! She dated me 10+3 ( I thought I was 9+6) so my EDD has been brought forward to 3rd Jan! Whoa!

RPopz · 10/06/2014 19:48

Wow Lamp! That's awesome, I've only ever heard of people being put back - which must be really frustrating!! Great news on the scan xx

KeepOnPloddingOn · 10/06/2014 19:50

KeepOnPloddingOn · 10/06/2014 19:51

CallingAllEngels · 10/06/2014 19:54

Seriously keepon ! Thisnis dc2 and I definitely did not feel ds this early. Was driving to petroonstation and was so uncomfortable. Couldn't see anything on outside but could feel it internally. Has stopped now.

Baby was wriggling around like no one's business during scan on Friday.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 10/06/2014 20:03

That is wonderful! This will be my dc2 too, hopefully I will start to feel things soon :) I am 10+5 today...

Saraswati · 10/06/2014 20:17

calling that's amazing!! When did you feel it with your first? I wanna feel mine!

Great news lamp and less time to wait too!!

Healing vibes to those with utis, ouchie :( I'm in headache and sickness hell due to this stuffy weather and it's going to continue into next week! Should have tried to avoid being pregnant in the summer (yeah like life is that kind!!)
