Just Shagging Grads Thread 9 - Roll Up, Roll Up all you graduated Viroids!

HungryHorace · 07/06/2014 21:41

Welcome to the 9th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed. :-)

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 24th outing!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

For those not in the know, a viroid is an autocorrected version of 'ladies' from the 1st JS thread, which then stuck.

So, roll call below please, viroids. :-)

I think I look freaking massive, btw. I'm only 5ft tall and short backed so no torso for baby to hide in. Think they're all unobservant, very polite or I was walking around looking a lot larger than I thought. I'm wearing quite a lot of loose tops which I guess helps. Also, it's an office job so when I'm sat down I just look chubby.

(yay for my world cup flag, although I'm not watching any football at all!!)

FurryScoob · 16/06/2014 22:43

Nice flag juni how do you get one of those?
No idea what classes to go for, I just want the facts about labour & what to expect if things go wrong, It would be nice to meet other mums to be as well & DP needs a crash course in looking after a baby, he's never changed a nappy!
Looks like I need to get googling local classes & read loads of reviews.

Nessalina · 16/06/2014 22:59

I'm going to go NCT I think - we don't have any family in the area, so I'm really counting on making some good pregnancy pals to stop me going mental once I'm a mum Grin

RPopz · 17/06/2014 08:28

Ooh dear that's all like a foreign language to me. Hopefully will get to hear about all this stuff soon!

Hope all viroids are well this morning. My delightful new symptoms are grease and spots! No L'oreal trimester for me!! Grin

Brew Brew Brew

DulcetMoans · 17/06/2014 08:42

Morning all!! Praying for a quick work day here, I want out of this place! I have booked yoga tonight so hoping it will calm me down.

Loving the flag juni! Why Netherlands?

From what I am told by recently pregnant friends, that's exactly what NCT is good for nessa. There seems to be a consensus in the four people I have spoken to about it here that, it's not necessarily going to give you more than the NHS classes while you are pregnant but the support once the baby has come is more than worth it. Relies on you having a good group though...!

Did you not get any details of the NHS classes from your booking in appointment popz? I would look into it as I hear they do get full quickly.

JuniDD · 17/06/2014 10:21

re flags, there's a thread in site stuff. It was linked in another thread I was reading last night. I chose Netherlands as I like Amsterdam! Very good reason.

Next task is considering whether to do an announcement at work. Probs just tell the psycho I work for then wear a tight top! Grin Wink

DulcetMoans · 17/06/2014 12:00

OMG. Just found dopplers as an iPhone app...

HungryHorace · 17/06/2014 15:15

Step away, Dulcet! The apps really aren't any good as Dopplers.

Our NHS antenatal classes are booked after 28 weeks. We went on an all day Saturday one at about 34 weeks. I'm not bothering this time!

I wouldn't pay for NCT ones. Other people I know have had a variety of experiences with them. Whether you stay in contact depends on who is there! :-)

OP posts:
Nessalina · 17/06/2014 15:46

Well the NCT ones are booked now, so really hoping they're worth the dosh!!
Sat waiting for 20 week scan... Frickin' bursting for a wee!!!!

RPopz · 17/06/2014 17:46

Eeek hope the scan goes well Ness and you haven't peed yourself yet Grin

Nope they didn't say anything about it Dulce - unless there's something about it in the huge mass of paper work she gave me! Though I'm sure I read it all. The NCT stuff sounds like something we should look into as me and DH have no family close by.

Another mmc on the January fred... Swinging violently between excitement and terror for next Wednesday! Sad

DulcetMoans · 17/06/2014 18:34

I'd already downloaded it by then horace, but it's deleted now. Couldn't even hear my own heartbeat! Should have known it would be too good to be true!

Did you make it to scan room without wetting yourself nessa?! Hope it all went well.

Your 12 week next week popz? Why is mine so far awayyyy?! My class info was in the stuff she gave me at booking in. But it's not the same anywhere is it! I managed to get onto most of mine ok. Have first class next Saturday 'health in pregnancy'. Then nothing til October I think!

RPopz · 17/06/2014 18:49

Yup I'm 12+ something next Wednesday apparently! I expect I'll get put back a week tbh. When's yours? x

DulcetMoans · 17/06/2014 18:50

11th July. Would make me 14 weeks technically but I expect to be 12 and half by then probably.

RPopz · 17/06/2014 18:53

14 weeks is cutting it a bit fine for NT testing isn't it. Wonder why they've booked you in so late! I think I'd have caved on the private scan if I'd have had to wait til then. x

DulcetMoans · 17/06/2014 18:58

It is a bit, I wondered if they were basing it on the fetility clinic scan right at the beginning. I don't think I will actually be 14 weeks which is good but if the fertility clinic haven't told them that then they don't know that! Have you got the day off?

RPopz · 17/06/2014 19:02

Yep booked it off yesterday. DH was supposed to have it off too but its looking as though he'll have to go into work afterwards Angry I doubt I'd get anything useful done if I went back to work after tbh though!

wilhelmeaner · 17/06/2014 19:49

Maybe you could phone and get them to move it forward a bit Dulcet? Mine also seems like ages away so trying not to think about it. Thankfully I got it changed to a non-working day as I wasn't looking forward to having to ask for the time off.

Yeah we're not allowed to book any ante-natal stuff till later on either. I think everyone who wants it gets it though, none of this 'too full' nonsense. Guess that is the only benefit of being in Scotland.

Does it actually freak you out to read the Jan thread Rpopz? Maybe you should stop if so?

Hope scan went well Nessa?

Don't think anyone gives you the facts about labour Furry, they all lie and tell you how manageable it is without pain relief. Am sure NCT will do that kind of thing though and about nappy changing and bathing etc.

Juni can you let me know how the Lazy Daisy ones are when you start them please? I feel like I'm going to need to do something to get over my first birth experience if I have any chance of popping another one out. I really don't want to go to something all flowery and chanty though!

Nessalina · 17/06/2014 19:50

Alreet ladies Grin
Scan was good! Hurrah! We went in bang on time which helped with the bladder, but she was only scanning for 5mins before she said 'actually, your bladder is a little too full, do you want to go for a wee'? I've never jumped up so quick in my life! Lol. We had to have a break halfway through because baby was squirming all over and wasn't staying in the right place long enough for her to check his spine, so she sent me off for a walk and a glass of water. Second time he was better behaved, and we got some decent piccies!

Just Shagging Grads Thread 9 - Roll Up, Roll Up all you graduated Viroids!
RPopz · 17/06/2014 19:54

Haha, great news Ness Grin

The mc rate is what's freaking me out Wil! I have this obsession with mmc recently. I guess I'll stay out of there for a bit!

HungryHorace · 17/06/2014 20:19

The chance of MMC is really, really low. Most MCs make themselves known before the scan. It's impossible not to worry though.

With DD I was puking loads so was actually OK at the 12 week stage. This time I wasn't being sick and had no real symptoms, so was scared witless.

I mentioned to the sonographer that I was scared and she made sure she told me the second she saw the heart beating. :-)

Lovely scan picture, Ness. Did you find out the sex?

Dulcet, if you want just a basic Doppler you can have my Angel Sounds one if you like? The headphones are knackered and there's no gel left, but you can have it for the price of posting it. Any headphones work with it, so I'm sure you must have some somewhere!

14wks, 2nd JS baby (& hopefully my last as it'll be dc3)!

Rpopz, rate of mmc is something stupidly low like 1-2%. But understand if t wasn't that it would be something else to worry about.

dulcet, if you take hungry up on the offer of angel sounds, it's awesome (any lubrication will do, even olive oil), found HB with ds2 at 9 weeks with it.

Congrats on the scan ness!

furry, have a search on Facebook for local parenting groups, there may be something through them re. Classes. You could always just book tours of the different facilities your nhs trust offers and spam those midwvies wth questions?

Our local NCT parenting group (not a member, didn't do heir classes) is for bump to toddler so worth seeig what yours is?
Also, netmums, should have a decent local page which should list pregnancy events in your area!

RPopz · 17/06/2014 20:39

I figured it was quite rare- I never even knew it existed until mumsnet! And have never known of anyone in real life its happened too. I suppose i just thought it was so rare that there wouldn't be any on the antenatal freds either but there's been a few recently. My heart just breaks for them, I can't imagine how you'd get through something like that.

I'm just focussing on the fact that I so feel very pregnant (or very not normal anyway Wink ) which is surely a good sign!

Anyway apologies for bringing the fred down! Thanks Brew Biscuit

DulcetMoans · 17/06/2014 20:53

That's what I am worried about too popz! I know the odds are good, I have nothing else indicating a miscarriage but the fear of mmc is quite high! I did stop reading the Jan thread, mainly cos I couldn't keep up. Sounds like a good job I stopped though!

That sounds fab horace, are you sure you won't need it for number 3?? Wink I hadn't thought about them really but peardrop messaged me and mentioned one. Bless her!

Dr! Welcome! Your name still makes me happy. How are you feeling at 14 weeks?

That pic is great nessa, very clear. It's a little person! I bet you can't stop grinning!

HungryHorace · 17/06/2014 21:39

You've already seen a heartbeat, Dulcet, so your odds are really good. :-)

Oh yes, I told Peardrop your news, I hope you don't mind? We still email each other quite regularly.

And unless we have a FUBAR with contraception, there isn't going to be a number 3! So if you'd like the Doppler, let me know.

I think the 'problem' with being on antenatal threads is the early losses. Our August thread had a good few and we had a really grim week or two around the point that you Jan girls are at. But the odds are still on your side. :-)

Anyone watching the programme about the missing Malaysian Airlines plane? It's fascinating.
