HungryHorace · 07/06/2014 21:41

Welcome to the 9th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed. :-)

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 24th outing!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

For those not in the know, a viroid is an autocorrected version of 'ladies' from the 1st JS thread, which then stuck.

So, roll call below please, viroids. :-)

Hello DrFunke! Smile

We already knew we were having a boy Horace! Although if we'd needed to know apparently he was making it very obvious! Grin

The fear of MMC was very much with me before my 12 week Sad That's the curse of MN really... When it only happens to 1-2% and you've got loads of pregnant ladies on a forum, it's almost like whatever can happen, will happen to someone on there. But it's still quite a rarity! So keep positive ladies Smile Not long til those scans now!! Maybe I'll finally be able to relax now the 20 week is done... I doubt it!

DulcetMoans · 18/06/2014 08:41

Right, in theory I have a flag when I post this...!

I know you are right horace. Just need to keep positive. DH is worried how stress and worry affect the baby so trying to get me to chill out. Hard when he's away though. I'm so lonely! The cats are great company but shit at conversation...

Have you had any name thoughts nessa? I know you probably wouldn't share anyway but just wondered...

HungryHorace · 18/06/2014 09:05

I missed that you knew already, Ness! Do you have names sorted?

I also never knew about MMC until I came onto MN. Then it becomes this huge fear as you see people experience it. :-(

I'm glad your cats can't talk, Dulcet. That'd be weird! How long is your DH away for?

Minion · 18/06/2014 10:47

Oh god, mmc talk. Even at 15 weeks I'm terrified of it. Today is one of 'em days.
The past two days I've had sy tetchy ow types twinges, none today and the boobs have gone a bit softer...
You'd think I would have relaxed a bit by now eh?

Sun is blazing here in tuscany. We're having a sunbed day as both knackered from walking everywhere, but we keep getting dive bombed by various Beatles etc, never seen the husband run so fast.. Had to laugh when he made me walk before him to check Godzilla wasn't still taking a nap on his sunbed.
Ha!
Wimp!

HungryHorace · 18/06/2014 10:50

Minion, hard boobs = growing, soft boobs = not growing for now. Itchy boobs often also happen after growing boobs. :-)

Sounds like you're having a lovely time. I'm not jealous at all!

Minion · 18/06/2014 12:13

horace, the voice of logic. Thank gawd you're here talking me down. Having a lovely time thanks, just had lunch on our patio, now we're back to sunbathing (shade bathing for me really) and it's gone so quiet. The annoying people in the villa about 200 mtrs away have stopped and gone out. The law mower has quit it's incessant hum so all we are left with is silence interspersed with crickets, the lazy buzz of a kamikaze fly, the soft cooing of the local wood pigeon, the occasional car in the valley and the nearby (ish)s cockerel making you aware that, yes, he's still here.

Heaven.

HungryHorace · 18/06/2014 13:08

My poor DH has suffered through far too many of my 'Waaaahhhhhhh my boobs aren't sore / hard / itchy, the pregnancy must be failing!' conversations and has talked me down too!

DulcetMoans · 18/06/2014 15:10

Pregnancy advice needed! A colleague is back from America and has bought Reese pieces. I got excited and took one and then remembered the whole confusing thing about peanuts. What is the rule there?! Can I just eat it?! (WARNING: it might be too late. I might have already eaten it)

You do a good job of talking us all down actually horace! Good to have someone that has been through it already.

I would love it if my cats could talk. Especially the little one, she needs a good talking to cos she is so naughty. I could explain why I don't want her dirty paws on the side and why I don't think it's good she gets teabags out of the compost! I think we have a good understanding with the older one, she knows the rules!

min - that does sound a bit lush. You won't want to come back!

Minion · 18/06/2014 15:29

Erm, I eat peanuts on a daily weekly basis dulce, hope I've not too much damage.
Seriously tho' I think that's the old advice, something to do with the NHS etc advising parents to avoid them contributed to the peanut allergy epidemic... Or some myth along those lines...
So in short.. Eat and enjoy...and send some here

FurryScoob · 18/06/2014 15:45

Same here with the peanuts I've been addicted to crunchie nut cornflakes for weeks, if their on the naughty list it's way too late to worry now Confused

Anyone else's feet grown? Mine are deffinatly not swollen but I've just had to buy a size bigger trainer. I can cope with bigger boobs but not clown feet!

DulcetMoans · 18/06/2014 16:49

Yeah, I think it is old advice. When I went to docs for the initial appointment all she really gave me was a list of things I couldn't eat and starting talking about nuts as a no-no but I told her I was snacking on brazil nuts to fight off sickness at the beginning so she started to backtrack and then I was confused!

Anyway, done now and it was tasty!

No bigger feet here furry, but I did hear someone on telly say they had gone up half a size with each child! Why would that happen?!

HungryHorace · 18/06/2014 17:00

Nuts are fine! Go for it. :-)

And my feet didn't grow first time, but do seem bigger this time.

My sister's have just gone done to pre-pregnancy size 6. 16 years post-pregnancy!

OP posts:
RPopz · 18/06/2014 18:13

I never understood the peanut allergy bullshit! Its basically nonsense... the child is surely more likely to be allergic to something you fastidiously avoid than not! I'm still eating nuts.

And also I'll have wine on holiday and stilton at Christmas!!! (Well a little bit anyway Wink )

Nessalina · 18/06/2014 18:49

Nuts are fine! They thought they might cause peanut allergies, then apparently when they advised people to stop eating them, the incidence of allergies actually went up! So the did some more studies and backtracked Grin Stilton is also fine btw - it's only soft blue cheese (like Roquefort) that's naughty!

We've got a name short list Smile There's two we really like, and one of those that I'm really keen on. Just hoping DH likes the same one as me!

I'm sooo jealous of your holiday Min! It sounds just fabulous!

RPopz · 18/06/2014 18:52

OMG I thought all mouldy cheese was out!!!!

wilhelmeaner · 18/06/2014 19:10

It's lucky I'm so full or you lot would be making me hungry. Yeah nuts are all good. I know quite a lot of people are weird about giving them to their kids. There really seems to be a public fear of them. I'm always eating stuff I shouldn't be - usually salami.

Somebody told me your feet can go flatter and hence bigger if you gain a lot of weight - not sure whether they were taking the piss though Confused.

RPopz · 18/06/2014 21:29

Why can't we have salami? Bloody hell I am a serious pregnancy n00b!

JuniDD · 18/06/2014 22:11

Congrats on a well-timed nice scan ness, lovely.

Hi DrFunke don't think we met before, congratulations to you.

This page explains the cured meats thing. I expect it's ok, plus apparently if you've ever had a cat you probably have toxoplasmosis anyway.

I need a bit of a hand hold tonight. Texted a friend who's had a recent mc to tell her my news. I was just at the beginning when she told me about her mc so couldn't then turn around & say "I'm pg!". I hope she's ok and feel sad if my news has made her sad. Sad. But, mini-Juni has been kicking up a storm which is nice.

minion your holiday sounds lovely. It's way too hot for me at the moment, I really hope it doesn't get hotter, I won't be able to cope at work. Stuffy building, no air flow. Oh well, coming clean tomorrow to all colleagues so at least I can stop wearing polyester tents!

wil lazy daisy review noted, classes start in a couple of weeks.

RPopz · 18/06/2014 22:14

Oooh riiiiight.

I'm a crazy cat lady so more than likely riddled with toxoplasmosis anyway Wink

DulcetMoans · 18/06/2014 22:22

Yeah, of you can catch something off a cat a probably have it too!

That is an awkward one juni but hopefully she will feel happy for you. Did she text back? I'm seeing my friend this weekend that has been TTC nearly a long as me an no luck. She's having tests etc and think they have found the problem but not looking forward to discussing it in case it feels a bit like I'm rubbing it in.

OBEM just had hypnobirthing couple on - anyone thought of that?

wilhelmeaner · 18/06/2014 22:46

I know nothing about it dulcet. normally I wouldn't be into anything like that but I'm pretty petrified to give birth again so wouldn't rule anything out!

thanks juni, sorry you had a difficult Evening. that kind of thing can't really be avoided though. Am sure your friend will be happy for you. One of my best friends announced her pg around time of my mc. I didn't feel any badness towards her at all, two things are totally unconnected.

JuniDD · 18/06/2014 23:13

Thanks loves.

I have the hypnobirthing CDs and do the pregnancy relaxation ones, you don't start the hypno stuff til 32 weeks. I quite like it so far.

JuniDD · 19/06/2014 07:20

My friend hasn't replied yet Sad hey ho, had to tell her at some point, eh?

RPopz · 19/06/2014 07:25

Give it a few days. If it was me I'd be all angry and sorry for myself for a bit and then realise I was being an ass a week or so later. xx Thanks

Nessalina · 19/06/2014 07:39

Can't be helped Juni - there's really no right way to tell someone if they've just MC. I think text is best because if you tell them to their face they can't really be upset without looking like a cow. Like Popz says, they're probably having a rage and will realise that it's not your fault pretty soon! I had a friend at work who fell pregnant shortly after my TFMR and knew all about it, and she didn't tell me to my face that she was pregnant, even though we'd talked loads. I just found out on the grapevine, and that was pretty hurtful that she didn't feel she could tell me, so yeah, you've done the best thing, just give her space.
