I took 2 senokot last night Mel. I wouldn't say it's had no effect but it wasn't the relief I was hoping for!!!

So glad you all had a lovely day Linda! Happy birthday Jackson!

PolytheneGirl · 10/06/2014 16:46

Fancy I spent half an hour on the loo this afternoon trying to force one out! I feel so uncomfortable, I wish I had my diarrhoea back! Going to buy grapes and orange juice when I get chance and the rain stops.

Our local childrens' farm has one of those bouncy pillows outside, I think doing that in the rain was pretty silly. I'm sure she wouldn't have let her child do it! My dad would say, "hopefully she's knocked some sense into herself!" I'd be inclined to agree with him here. Craziness!

Ugh, horrid afternoon. Could do with a bit of advice.

I work in a fairly small office (about 8 of us) and of all of the people in here, I'm the only person that prefers the temperature in here to be on the cooler side. Everyone else loves it stuffy - I'm not talking 'warm', I'm talking humid, sticky and boiling. Apparently it's 'tropically lovely'. Every time I've tried to protest in the past I'm shot down because I'm in the extreme minority - Not even granted the air con on for 10 minutes. And I always get a scowl when I open a window.

Anyway, at 5+2, I'm already noticing my tolerance of the heat is a little more sensitive. My boss knows I'm pregnant, I'm wondering whether it's worth shifting a bit more weight on them (metaphorically!) in being more fair towards me with regards to office temp?

I'm definitely not a fan of the heat, MUCH prefer cooler climes!

fancyacupoftea · 10/06/2014 16:56

Frenetic I'd speak to the boss and let them know that it's making you feel bad at the moment and if your boss can offer any solutions to the issue. E.g., personal fan on your desk if they don't want the windows open?

PolytheneGirl · 10/06/2014 17:01

I'd get a desk fan, I think you can get USB ones that plug into your computer. I'm def with you on preferring it a little cooler. What is your boss like?

I have a desk fan, but this awful woman complains EVERY time I turn it on, moaning that she can't work in a breezy environment (yep, one of THOSE). It's so frustrating. Think I will have a chat with my boss. I know it's easier to just shush and keep the peace, but ugh. Got home just now feeling so hot, bothered and unwell.

Saw this and thought of all you teachers on here :-)

Frenetic What a bitch! I'd be having a dizzy spell in the office and blaming it on the heat!

I am definitely the middle pic right now linda !

After feeling so much better the last 2 weeks have felt rough as today. Think it's partly the heat and ds not sleeping (because of the bloody heat).

Openly telling people now but still would rather my students didn't know yet especially my year 12s who will have to have someone else next year. So still floaty tops all the way.

11+2 and looking humungous!

CallingAllEngels · 10/06/2014 17:42

And frenetic that would drive me bonkers. We have our house rather cool and lots of people whinge about it every time they come over. A few years ago sil was over on nye and she kept her coat on all night even though we were walking around in t-shirts.

fancyacupoftea · 10/06/2014 18:31

See I like the heat and in one office my colleague opens windows and doors non-stop. My other colleague and I don't complain or shut them, we just put cardigans on because it's easier to warm up than cool down.

Make up health issues - prickly heat, migraines etc. And tell you colleagues to bring more jumpers into work!

freneticfox · 10/06/2014 18:31

We're the same. We always have a fan on in the bedroom during summer.

Very ffrustrating when it's just me in the office!

Sorry for double post, still getting used to a new phone!

I wish they'd use logic and Wear cardigans or long sleeve tops if they get that cold, I suspect it's more to do with being awkward towards me.

MademoiselleG · 10/06/2014 18:41

Ugh I hate muggy / tropical heat, gross! Honestly, just faint Wink

MademoiselleG · 10/06/2014 18:42

Right. I HAVE to have pulled pork burritos tonight. Or a big, juicy burger. Or a salt beef bagel. And I have to have it NOW! what's wrong with me...!!

PolytheneGirl · 10/06/2014 18:43

I'd be no good in your office at all, if I get warm I get sleepy! I'd get no work done at all!

Just broke the news to my friend who's little boy I look after. I'd been dreading it as it will really affect them. Thank god she was really good and happy for us. That's a huge weight off my mind!

Also got a huge grin on my face because my Dad just facetimed me from Buckingham Palace Grin he's been honoured today for his voluntary work and was invited to the Garden Party and presented to the Queen. I'm so proud of him Grin

Oh nice one DaddytheneDad!

Is this the same friend who you looked after the boy so she could go shopping? Did you ever speak to her about that?

PolytheneGirl · 10/06/2014 19:10

Yes it's the same friend. I did have a word about taking advantage of me and she apologised saying she "just didn't think". I've forgiven her but I won't forget it.

That's made me huuuuuuuungry (I've just eaten dinner). What a great photo!!!

RetroHippy · 10/06/2014 19:35

I just ate a whole tomato like a plum Blush was chopping one for dinner and it just smelled so goooood! So I got another one and ate it!

PolytheneGirl · 10/06/2014 19:38

I've got a bit of a running banter going with my Dad about food, we're always ringing each other bragging about what we've just scoffed and if anyone stays in a hotel we are expected to give a full report on breakfast, it's become a tradition. I've had a full report on the cucumber and mint sandwiches, smoked salmon and the "exquisite tarts" wink-wink-nudge-nudge! I hope he didn't crack any of his jokes when meeting Her Majesty! Hmm

Don't ever buy Heinz cheesy beans! What a let down! Sticking to normal beans with cheese grated on! Dinner of choice at the moment!!
