At this stage in the game, twinges could mean everything or mean nothing… babies just come when they're ready! I had 5 hours of good going regular contractions at 39 weeks last time. Then everything stopped till I went into real labour at 40+4! I'm trying to just ignore it all this time and be "zen"… I personally wouldn't restrict what you do too much. I don't think I'd go more than an hour or two from home at this point but other than that I'm game for anything my body seems comfortable with. I get a lot of braxton hicks but I just ignore them. If it's making you uncomfortable or tired by all means stop, but if walking made you go into labour there'd be no need to induce people!

I've had a really nice day off - went to my old breastfeeding group this morning to touch base before starting breastfeeding again and drink coffee and chat… really nice group of ladies. Then went to an outdoor pool in the peak district to swim and read my book and eat fish and chips - BLISS!

Ah I do love my toddler but I also love days off! Won't have any very soon!

binkybunny · 12/09/2014 17:56

misskjb it's back and bump ache and baby kicking whatever side I lay on rather than the other. I have had weird dreams but I normally do anyway.

weeb also just been to a breast feeding class and really enjoyed it. I liked the fact that the mw was very supportive of FF if needed or chosen to do, which hasn't been the feeling I've got from all of the local mw.

Your outdoor pool afternoon sounds lovely, I need to get for a swim, I slept in on Wednesday and missed my aqua natal class Blush

binkybunny · 12/09/2014 17:59

Oh and I'm not listening to DH and his 'advice', he's just having a bit of a stress until I get passed 37 weeks Hmm

weebairn · 12/09/2014 19:10

Aw, it's hard for the other halves sometimes… we feel a bit out of control and not in charge of our bodies any more, so it must be even harder for them…

Glad your midwife was lovely and supportive! My swim was lush yes. A lie in would be too mind… 7am is a lie in in this house, sadly! I go to bed verrrry early...

mrshjb · 13/09/2014 07:00

misskgb 1 or 0 get ups a night?!! You are absolutely living the dream! I couldn't tell you how happy I would be if that was me. On a really good night I get up 3 times at least and have done since right at the very start!! That's bad of MN to randomly link stuff in to posts. I thought the website was a bit random!

Glad to hear the worst of it is done. Definitely think you're all right about the fact you feel like crap but no one makes any allowances for you. I really didn't know that pregnancy insomnia existed until getting pregnant. I feel like it has been horribly mis sold to me by my friends and sister who all said they got the best sleep of their lives throughout the majority of it!!

weebairn exciting about the twinges! suppose if it goes on for a while it's showing that things are starting to progress?! Am I right with this or can it just be an evil way of tricking you?!! Your day sounds absolutely lovely, I'm hoping to do some 'me time' stuff once my mat leave starts.

Lolly the transfers from eBay sound a right bargain! I'll definitely have a look on there. I found one I loved on a website but it was 70 quid so big difference. We are saving so much money by having lots of things donated to us that I could probably justify that if necessary but we'll see!

binky bless DH, I think mine will be the same. I am so focused on me, I forget sometimes that it must be quite hard for them too!! Glad to hear you enjoy your breast feeding class, I do intend to breast fed, but I think it's quite rammed down your throat by he midwives and all leaflets etc you get. It's no wonder people feel like failures if they struggle.

Holiday today, I'll try and keep my eye on the thread if I get signal. Hoping for some baby news from you weebairn Have a lovely week everyone :)

Enjoy your hol H

I spoke too soon- was up twice last night-2am with real nad heartburn & 6am for a standard loo stop. Also woken up bunged up again, I THOUGHT THIS COLD WAS ON ITS WAY OUT :-(

My friends contractions stopped after about 24 hours. She's gutted coz she got excited. How u feeling weeb

How did u find out about the breastfeeding classes binky? I didn't know they existed!

Lolly84 · 13/09/2014 12:26

Hey Ladies,

H have a fab hol!! The insomnia thing has just hit me in 3rd trimester. You have been pretty unlucky with it!!

Oh weeb so exciting! It's great you have been through this before. Finding your experience very helpful.

I don't feel the ramming of breast feeding down my throat as yet. Kinda wish I was asked more questions and advised more by my midwife.

Oh Misskgb, guess what, I have got the blooming cold. Made the effort to go and see DH's family last night and both his brothers gf's have colds! Woke up this morning feeling pretty rough. So instead of getting up I have decide I am going to stay in bed and chill.

I think our DP's and DH's are doing a great job so far by the sounds of everything we say! I couldn't ask more from my DH he is fab!! I bought him Amazing Spider-Man 2, cooked a lovely meal, got his friend over for a night of playstationing the other day as a wee thank u! He has been all about me and sure he needed some of his own time!! Xx

misskgb · 14/09/2014 07:17

Check you out Lolly treating the other half-that's so nice!

The whole feeding thing has been pretty underplayed for me. Mw encouraged me to bf & gave me a leaflet but it doesn't talk about expressing much. Tells you how & how long it'll last but I don't know if you do it straight into a bottle or a bag or what!

Had a pretty awful day yesterday with ALOT of tears! Upset in the morning coz didn't want dh to go football without me. I dropped him off so he could travel with the players then drove to my friends house. The 20 min journey took 1 hour 10 mins as I got lost a few times. No battery on my phone & sat nav couldn't find her address she's just moved to on a new estate. I pulled over several times just to cry. I felt so pathetic & have never cried so much in my life! Was so pleased to finally get back to dh!

Anyone got any good ways to deal with lower back ache? Finding it worst first & last thing

binkybunny · 14/09/2014 09:50

misskjb I called our parent education class number at the local mlu and she told me about the different classes. I also did a physio one as my back ache has been unbearable but my mw won't refer me for physio.

I got a gym ball and sit on that as much as poss rather than the sofa, it has definitely helped to ease it and now have exercises to do after the class, although at 36+2 it's a bit late!

DH has been amazing BTW, not trying to put him down, he's just getting a bit nervous and panicky now, which is the last thing I need at this stage! He has been a superstar to put up with my constant whinging and demands Smile

Lolly84 · 14/09/2014 11:03

Oh no Misskgb hope you have a better day today!!

After me going on about DH yest he really annoyed me lol. Due to me having the cold I didn't want to go out and he was in the huff all night. Pissed me off tbh!!

Ah I have struggled with my back a lot, it's a bit on and off. Best thing that has helped is a lower back massage from DH using lots of cream. Sorts me for a few days. I also love a good cuddle with preg pillow when back is sore. Xx

misskgb · 14/09/2014 19:28

Thanks ladies-had a much better day but stayed with dh so couldn't get into too much trouble!

I've got an antenatal class via a local sure start centre on Friday so maybe they'll give me some info about other local services/classes. Super exciteed that dh is coming too :-)

I think I'll be using my gym ball a bit this week-got 2 late night meetings (luckily I get the mornings off), in northants tomorrow & got Friday off for a 5 day weekend :-) not sure whether to bring the ball home or keep it at work tho. Hmmmmm! We do have a wooden spoon at home which is helping massively when dh massages me!

weebairn · 15/09/2014 07:37

ugh. up with coughing toddler from 9pm-1am and then 4am till 6am. Her 3rd cold in a month, I dunno if nursery is a germ factory or what.

Have no idea how I'm going to do this with a baby I am barely coping right now.

also feel like I'm going to be pregnant for the rest of my life. Bump has dropped though I don't think that means anything particularly.

binkybunny · 15/09/2014 13:23

Awww weeb it's all just getting a bit much isn't it? I've really had enough of being pregnant and I really feel for you with a toddler. Think we are sticking with just the one baby as can't imagine feeling like I do and having to look after another child Shock

I basically slept from 5am to 10am today, 5 hours sleep but feel crap and haven't managed to do anything or get out of my pj's yet. Hope I get better when LO arrives, don't want to be a slummy mummy Sad

mrsb87 · 15/09/2014 13:32

I've been the same binky, I keep feeling guilty about not doing more with my day but dh and my mum keep telling me to take advantage of the time now as I won't get it again....so I am!
Had a bloody lovely massage this morning, I can't believe how much better my back and shoulders feel, I didn't even think they were that bad!
Wee I'm sorry you feel so horrid, again I can't imagine doing this with a lo to chase after too. At least you won't be carrying around the extra weight and when you do finally get some sleep you will be a lot more comfortable not having a massive bump.
I've just made myself a very tasty lunch, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms with cheese on toast. Nom nom nom! My appetite seems to have reappeared after eating like a squirrel for the past 3 month's. I'm hoping this means baby has dropped down!

mrshjb · 16/09/2014 09:58

Quick message because I can't see what you've all written at the same time as typing on the stupid MN app. Plus the signal is rubbish here.

Holiday is lovely, getting really lucky with the weather so far (touch wood). Massage yesterday was really good, could definitely have one of those every day!!

Glad to hear you're all surviving the horrors of the 3rd trimester!! It does sound like it's getting a bit hard for everyone though....

Catch up properly when I'm back :) xx

weebairn · 17/09/2014 09:27

Feeling better today, toddler has got over her cold and slept the entire night last night, woo! She is so much happier when she sleeps. (I'm not sleeping well at all, but lying in bed not-sleeping while toddler sleeps is much less stressful than getting up!)

Got a mate coming up to stay for a couple of days, she's a midwife and came to my last birth so in an ideal world I will have the baby while she's here, but I don't think so somehow Wink

Saw midwife yesterday and baby is apparently in a really good position for labour and engaged now. Having lots of twinges! Just trying to rest when I can and do little jobs/see friends/enjoy time with my daughter. Can't be THAT long. 13 days till due date, am hoping not to go more than a week over -fingers crossed-

Our lovely new house has been possibly delayed by up to 6 months which one part of me is a bit gutted about but the other part is quite grateful to not be moving 4 weeks post-birth! we'll see.

38+1

weebairn · 17/09/2014 09:40

Glad you're enjoying your holiday helen and that you're having nice weather! I am a total scrooge at the moment and whinge every nice sunny day "WHY IS IT STILL SO HOT IT'S SEPTEMBER FOR GODS SAKE"

Sympathies to those with DH/Ps being annoying. Mine is generally great but he has his moments. Was being grouchy this morning so I taught toddler how to point at him and call him a "meanie" - yes that's me - very mature! She loved the word and has been running around all morning shouting "meanie daddy meanie daddy" a hahahahaha!

Mrsb your lunch sounds lovely! I can also eat again after weeks/months of hardly any appetite, perhaps your bump has dropped too? The payoff is horrible pelvic pain and having to wee a zillion times a day!
Your mum is wise about you resting but do fun stuff too. Lunches out with mates is fab :) I kind of wish I'd gone to the cinema more as that is one thing that's really hard to do with young babies but I don't think I could sit comfortably for 2 hours in late pregnancy anyway. I'm trying to just listen to my body and if it has energy do some fun stuff and if it doesn't - just nap! This is only on days toddler is in nursery of course!

binkybunny I think pregnancy is much more tiring than baby, really. Or, I dunno, it's like - the difference bweteen having a job and being unemployed. Having a baby is like a job, you can whinge about it and it's knackering, but it's also great that you have it. Being unemployed more like being pregnant - its exhausting and you feel like you don't even have anything to show for it!! But you do, you are growing a whole person which is very tiring.

lolly aw you are sweet treating your DH. I had a lot more back ache when working, but it seems ok now. I also love to cuddle my preg pillow!

missk - what on earth do you do with the wooden spoon??

misskgb · 17/09/2014 18:29

Loving the having a job comparison-ut actually makes complete sense!! Well the wooden spoon....dh was giving me a lower back massage whilst I leant on the kitchen side one day but his thumbs were hurting me so he grabbed a wooden spoon & hey presto-no thumb pressing anymore (or friction from his hands rubbing the same spot). Its honestly genius-get your dh to try it!!

Work have confirmed start dates for my cover & new manager (the same day) which is 3 weeks before I leave so ive booked 3 days off meaning I leave 2 1/2 weeks before im due & I've got 6 hours toil to take meaning short days on my only full week left to work. I must say I'm really starting to look forward to finishing, just because I can, no other reason!

Cancelled blood tests tomorrow as this cold has not fully gone, but 5 day weekend with dh, the cotswolds, a romantic meal & the safari park is keeping me happy!

Still regularly checking here for baby news from binky & weeb- come on ladies!!!!

binkybunny · 18/09/2014 10:06

Hi ladies! Hope you're feeling better misskjb enjoy your countdown to mat leave. Sorry, no baby here yet and hoping she holds off for a few days, I want to buy, paint and decorate her cot bed and dh is making a changing table next weekend! Sounds like you're having a lovely time away.

H glad you're having a nice holiday too.

weeb not long for you now, can't wait for babies to start arriving.

I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow, it's gone so fast since bfp on 1st Feb Shock

mrshjb · 20/09/2014 20:06

Argh this has gone from my active threads so just remarking my place and will post tomorrow when I'm hopefully not as absolutely knackered!!

OP posts:
mrshjb · 21/09/2014 08:24

Morning everyone!

How are you all getting on? No signs of babies yet it seems?

I had a lovely holiday and can't particularly say I'm glad to be home. Well that's not true, it's always nice to be back at home but I'm not looking forward to going to work!! I'm starting a pregnancy yoga class tomorrow night, I'm really hoping it helps me to get some sleep. I'm so shattered. Has anyone got any words of advice to help with the insomnia?!

Feeling a few more kicks now, but not a huge amount really. Feel like I've been a bit shafted by my anterior placenta. DH says I'll probably be grateful for it later down the line when I'm not being booted quite as bad.

Hope you've had a lovely holiday too misskgb. Have you sorted out when you can finish now then? How are your antenatal classes? I'm going to ask at my next midwife appointment, but I'm not sure about when they start?!

Weebairn hope you've had a good time with your friend. Good news about baby being in a decent position. I can't wait to find out what you're having!! I like your comparison to working and not working. That's exactly how I feel at the minute. I'm kmackered and sleeping like shit but there's no real reason for it and at least when you have a baby people will be a bit more understanding. Now you're just expected to carry on and you get 'well wait to see how tired you'll be when you have the baby' blah blah blah.

Binky how are you getting on finishing the nursery? Are you managing to get any more sleep?

Lolly how nice to treat DH, shame he pissed you off the next day!! How far gone are you now? I do feel a bit unlucky with the insomnia. Friends and family keep telling me how they could fall asleep stood up whilst pregnant....!!

How are you getting on mrsb? Any signs of baby yet?

Wonder how Kiki is getting on? Daren't scroll up in case I lose all this message but I'm pretty sure she was the first to get pregnant so must be very imminent now!

21+4 (and counting obsessively )

weebairn · 21/09/2014 15:09

Hello helen, glad you had a nice holiday. The insomnia sounds awful. Mine is terrible now, I wake up every half hour through the night, but I didn't have it as early as that.
I guess the general things can help - bit of exercise, bath before bed, all that crap...
I find it's better if I don't try and pressurise myself into sleeping and think - oh I'm glad I'm at least having a nice rest right now. The stress about not sleeping makes not sleeping even worse if you know what I mean! Have you tried listening to any relaxation cds- i have a yoga nidra one and also a hypnobirthing one - they always send me off for a good nap!! Doesn't help much at night though.
sympathies.

No baby here but LOTS of signs. Could mean anything or nothing! 38+5.

Had a good old clearout today, put the changing table back in our bedroom, scrubbed the bathroom floor, etc. Walked to the shops to buy a few new things like shower curtain, tidy for toddler's bath toys… bedside light for night feeds as mine has broken. Stuff like that. Feel prepared I think! Birthing pool has arrived (my hospital hires them out for free)… just need to go into labour now!

weebairn · 21/09/2014 15:09

Kiki is due on Tuesday! Exciting!!

mrsb87 · 21/09/2014 21:06

Nope! No babies here yet. Lots of twinges and bh getting stronger etc. I'm hoping it holds on til the 30th because the new consultant led unit opens at my local hospital, which would mean no 30-40 minute drive in labour! Sod's law now says baby will show up this week Hmm
glad you had a good holiday h! It's nice spending some time with you oh on your own for the last time!
Racing you to the finish line now then wee Wink hehe. Sounds like you're all set, I'm prepared enough if it happened now but I think I will always find more to do!

misskgb · 22/09/2014 17:36

Hi ladies. Thoroughly enjoying my wedding anniversary....had a lovely day in the cotswolds, a very nice meal & have been very hot at the safari park today. Just chilling before another meal tonight!

Yes finish on the 21st now. Just 17 working days left!! Got some toil to work off too so will have a few cheeky early finishes

Just did the one antenatal class which was a mw talking about early labour, labour, feeding & going home for 2 hours. Dh found it really useful. I found it quite repetitive from the books but good to talk & ask questions. Got a better idea of what to expect in hospital after the birth & what my local hospital does/doesn't provide so not a waste of time at all

My mw friend had her baby yday 9 days early. There is hope first timers come early!
