Kiki lovely to hear from you and your surprise hol sounds lovely!

weebairn big hugs to you sounds like you're having a horrible time and 10 hours on your feet and not eating os not healthy at the best of times and especially when pregnant. I really hope you get it sorted out and DP is back on his feet soon to help with your toddler x

binkybunny · 20/07/2014 22:43

Sorry Kiki just reread your post and realised how ever nice your holiday was the aftermath didnt sound great! Think the heat has made my baby brain twice as bad!

mrshjb · 21/07/2014 08:46

Morning everyone, hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

Really good to hear from you Kiki. Surprise holiday sounds lovely, the injections and iron issues on the other hand doesn't sound so lovely! On the plus side you'll really very nearly ther now aren't you! Are you starting to get excited or just a bit like wow this is getting real?!!

Weebairn that's so out of order of your work, they should expect anyone to work in conditions like that regardless of whether or not you're pregnant. I hope you send your email off and you get a good response. How long until you finish? I did have to laugh about crying to the cats, clearly wouldn't have been funny at the time though! Enjoy your leave and make sure you rest as much as you can!

Binky the heat is horrendous isn't it! first time I've ever been looking forward to winter!!!

I'm also feeling a bit down really. It was lovely telling work and I now feel like I can legitimately talk about things that I want 'when the baby arrives'! Plus I have my second scan on Thursday and this time I'm actually looking forward to it rather than being petrified. But the downsize is I still can't sleep at all. I feel like I've been run over today. I think I'm finding it so hard because I've always been a good sleeper so this is totally alien to me. On another note I feel like I look absolutely huge. I really didn't expect to be showing for at least another 3-4 week ish!! Ah well nearly hitting the second trimester now which I am classing as a massive achievement!!

Anyways really late for work now so best go. Have a good day everyone!!

Bloody hell there are a few missing ends of words etc there. I blame the tiredness and the heat and I hope it all still makes sense!!

binkybunny · 23/07/2014 08:06

H cant believe you're nearly in the second trimester. Time is flying!

This heat is awful and its not even that hot up here in Scotland. Really feel for all you ladies down south.

My bump is getting really heavy now and feels quite low so have perfected the pregnancy waddle. I just cant believe I'm going to grow even bigger!

misskgb · 23/07/2014 20:34

I hear u binky-I just keep growing! Ive tried to stay out of the sun to keep cool but have a fan both at home n at work!

I've had to start sleeping with my v pillow again to get some sleep. Bump is stretching every day n man I can feel it!

Good luck with your scan H!

Saw MW yday-she's happy with progress. Got to do the glucose test tho-doesn't sound fun....two blood tests two hours apart n have to sit in dox during that time!

Ladymillion · 23/07/2014 23:10

Misskgb I also have to have that glucose test soon! Not looking forward to sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours Shock

I've just come back from a 3 day break in a lovely hotel in Warwickshire; my partner treated me for my birthday, 29 today Blush The first birthday I've stayed sober since about the age of 14 haha

Hope everyone's feeling okay.. I convinced myself I had pre-eclampsia the other day (rib pain, feeling AWFUL and higher blood pressure than normal) but turns out I'm just a drama queen! I'm turning into a paranoid weirdo Blush

mrshjb · 24/07/2014 08:52

What's this awful glucose test you're talking about?! 2 blood tests in a day and a wait in a hospital for that long does not sound good at all!!!

Thanks for the good luck misskgb. I'm soooo much more relaxed this time, not even felt remotely worried once. I think not googling things and also deleting that awful babycentre app massively helped! I like the day by day stuff but when I started looking on the birth club it was depressing stuff every single day!

Yeah the heat is pretty bad isn't it. I've been at my Mum's for a few days and she lives on top of a hill so there is more of a breeze. Dreading going home because DH says the house is like an oven!!

Yeahbinky I can't believe I'm nearly there either! 13+1 today.

Glad to hear it was nothing serious Lady. Pregnancy does send you crazy doesn't it!

I'll let you all know how the scan goes this afternoon :)

misskgb · 24/07/2014 17:33

U have a blood test first thing in the morning (after fasting from midnight?) U then drink a measured amount of lucozade n sit doing nothing for 2 hours. Another blood test then measures the effectiveness of your body taking in glucose. Or something like that! I can't remember the exact reason for making certain people have it but think initially it was to do with my bmi.

Happy birthday for yesterday binky!!

mrshjb · 24/07/2014 18:28

Sorry binky totally missed your birthday!! Hope you had a good one :)

Misskgb that sounds pretty horrific! When do you have to have that done?! It's crazy all the tests they do now when back in the day they just popped a baby out without any tests or scans or anything! My grandma looked a bit confused when I was explaining the Down syndrome test to her!

Anyways scan went really well today. Little devil wouldn't get in the right position at all so she had to send me to drink more water. Bit uncomfortable but meant I spent about half an hour looking at the baby! It was all over the place and on it's belly at one point. She said it was very awkward and had made her earn her money!! Also measuring at 13+3, which is unsurprising as I'm 5'10 and DH is 6'4 so we're probably going to have a long one! She said she won't change my due date though. NT measurements were 1.4mm which I think is good?! Results within 10 days. I'll post my comparison scan pics now. Top one is 11 and second 13+1!

Awwww glad everything went well. Not sure if the measurement means much by itself-I was told it gets paired with your blood but my risk came back at 1 in 19000 so hopefully yours will be good too

2 weeks time I think my appt is. Im 24+5 now. Very hot n tired tonight so having a quiet relaxing night in with the commonwealth games!

binkybunny · 24/07/2014 22:05

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Like Lady it was a sober one although I enjoyed my one glass of wine Grin Grin

H so pleased your scan went well and hoping all your results come back ok.

Does anyone else having burning hot hands and feet? I'm hot all over but I can't bear my hands and feet!

mrshjb · 25/07/2014 07:27

Thanks misskgb Yours was a really low risk then wasn't it. From what I briefly read it seems that the smaller the measurement the better, but you still might be higher risk depending on other factors like age, weight, if you smoke, history in family of downs or similar. Sure I'll be fine. Can't believe how far gone you are now, time is so flying!

Ooh how does a glass of wine go down now binky? I've had one sip of Prosecco since I got my BFP. Always said if I did have a glass it would be after the first trimester is over! Thanks for the well wishes as well :)

binkybunny · 25/07/2014 21:12

My glass of wine went down too quickly and was far too nice. Having to resist the rest of the bottle that's still in the fridge!

Ladymillion · 25/07/2014 21:13

Aww H your scan pics are cuuuute, it's amazing how much they change in only 2 weeks! Smile

24+4 and had a really odd day... Until today the baby's movements have been irregular, quite soft and quite low down 'flutters' - then today he has not stopped moving at all, I swear I can feel his body parts with my hand through my belly which is so strange. Also my belly has been going really tight and hard in places (very frequently) and I'm not sure what to make of it. I called the out of hours midwife and she basically said it could be Braxton Hicks or just a sudden growth spurt in the baby; causing stronger movements. She also said not to worry unless I feel pain (I'm having cramps but no actual pain, just discomfort) or if I start bleeding. But I still feel worried as it's such a strange feeling where up until
now I haven't really felt any different and yet today my belly feels heavy, hard and tight! I'm going to see how I feel in an hour or so and if it's still the same I'll go to A&E... I will feel like such a time-waster but I need some kind of reassurance that the baby's not in any danger. Anyone else any experience of these feelings?

binkybunny · 25/07/2014 21:21

Lady I get the tightening and light contractions a lot especially at the moment as stressed all day at work then get them when I relax at night. Some have been strong enough to have me on my hands and knees whimpering but they usually go away after a minute or so.

If you're worried I'd call the 24 hour midwife and tell her you want checking out

misskgb · 25/07/2014 23:05

Lady im the same distance as u n every now n then my tummy goes hard n to the point id describe it as hurting. After about 24 hours it goes soft n then I notice rice krispie has moved so I now know that its just her way of changing position

I feel her quite a lot n sometimes she kicks/hits really hard but she's gone towards my spine now so her moves are not as prominent, until she kicks me very low down like she's trying to get out!!

Binky my feet are the same. I was just telling my friend that I think they're really hot n a bit swollen. I wear flip flops all day every day atm so can't tell if they have grown or not!!

Ladymillion · 25/07/2014 23:48

Ahh thanks guys this is comforting! The tightening has really calmed down now so I think I'll hang fire on the A&E idea - spoke to a pregnant friend of mine and she recalls the same kinda thing at this gestation... God it's so worrying haha!

misskgb · 26/07/2014 12:07

It is worrying, especially when it borders on painful. I can't believe the difference in the strength of her kicks. Dh has been watching my tumny jump up n down this morning. I blame the exciting netball we've been watching- baby will be a sports girl like her munmy n daddy!!

binkybunny · 26/07/2014 15:36

It's so scary the first few times. First time DH nearly rushed me off to hospital he was panicking I was going into labour! Glad it's getting better Lady.

Just had a very pregnant moment and had to get DH to pick me up from the village even tho it's a ten minute walk. Have been cleaning and painting nursery furniture this morning before queueing for an hour for tickets for a local gig. Started walking home and my lower back and hips just gave in Sad Sad Feel like I'm about 100 years old!

Ladymillion · 26/07/2014 16:56

Haha I feel like a 100 year old lady too binky!

Update on last nights situation: woke up this morning and the cramping and tightening was worse so I went to A&E. They sent me to the labour ward where the midwife took my obs - they were fine. Listened to the baby's heartbeat - fine. Then she felt my belly and could feel the contractions as they were happening. Then a doctor came and did an internal examination; cervix is still closed thank god! And she also did a swab that tests for preterm labour which was negative. To say I'm relieved is an understatement! She explained these swabs are very reliable and almost never give false positives, however they're only reliable in the here and now. So in 2 weeks I'll be wondering and worrying about whether it's still closed down there!

I asked why I was having the constant contractions and they reckon I have an irritable uterus. Basically it's where the uterus can contract consistently, lasting anything from 30 seconds to an hour or more, literally all the time but without affecting the length of the cervix. It can be any part of the uterus that contracts at any time and it's more painful than Braxton Hicks. With the contractions you can experience period-like cramping, a heavy feeling of pressure in the cervix and lower back pain. Basically the same symptoms you'd get with preterm labour which makes it all the more worrying and confusing! I'm going to speak to my midwife on Monday but just been advised to take it easy and take paracetamol when needed. Maybe the fibroids are contributing to the contractions? God knows, irritable uterus seems to be yet another mystery of pregnancy that even the professionals know little of. Hmm

Ladymillion · 26/07/2014 16:59

I did read that irritable uterus increases the risk of preterm labour slightly Sad only slightly though so not gonna dwell on that

misskgb · 26/07/2014 18:02

U know your body lady so if u think there's something going on or r worried just get yourself checked out. Im the same with my kidneys-I rock up at the dox with a urine sample n tell them to send it off occasionally. All dip sticks have been positive but luckily all cultures have been clear so far. I've found the medical teams at dox n both local hositals to be really good so far. Hope yours are the same x

binkybunny · 26/07/2014 19:23

Lady atleast everything is ok now. Slightly worried about the irritable uterus though as my Braxton Hicks can be quite painful and have all the things you mentioned. If I go into preterm labour my vivid dreams of waters breaking on the dancefloor/ in the church at my sisters wedding might come true. Shes already said she will never speak to me again if I go into labour at her wedding!

H just seen your scan pics as they dont show on my mobile app. They're lovely!!!
