Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WheresMrMonkey · 22/05/2014 23:59

It's those kind of situations that really she you appreciate what you have. Your poor friend, cannot imagine how hard that must be

alita7 · 23/05/2014 00:17

Happy birthday greenstone, welcome crazy :)

Onion my uncle recently died of leukemia, it's not a nice illness! He was diagnosed In November and sadly passed away about 6 weeks ago, very fast!

I think I'll be upset if I can't breastfeed it's very important to me although considering after my mmc milk started squirting out my boobs hopefully my boobs work :)

Anyone else having owwww pain when they cough? I think it's those stretching muscles!

Kantha · 23/05/2014 06:56

Happy birthday Greenstone! It's my birthday today too. If it cheers you up, I am 37 today. 30 is nothing Wink.

Venus2 · 23/05/2014 07:32

Happy birthday Greenstone and Kantha! Hope you have a lovely day and get spoilt rotten.
I definitely want to bf if possible but am a little scared after the stories I have been told. Sounds like it can be quite hard to work out. Advice I have been given is to get help straight away before your nipples get trashed.

mismylinford · 23/05/2014 08:33

happy birthday to those who are celebrating have a mocktail!
nice to hear all stories on breast feeding.
onion - sorry to hear. about your friend something noneoofus could ever imagine going threw bless.
all new comers welcome stop lurking and say hello we don't bite... that's for some other threads.
ive only been up a just over an hour and i have massive period type pain that goes into my groin too... ouchies... midwife or do i just mark it as growing pains?

Mumonabroom · 23/05/2014 08:41

Only just caught up, this thread goes fast! I've got really itchy legs this time and really sensitive skin (especially on my back). I now seem to get spots with most body washes, so going to try something non scented. Not a nice side effect of being pregnant!

I BF my 2 DS, until about 9 months. Difficulty with both initially. Youngest had undiagnosed tongue tie which took weeks to sort out. No stopping him after that though Grin first born couldn't get latch right. They're both now on the 91st percentile, both my DH and I are really slight. V funny.

Hope all good, welcome newcomers too.

2boysandcounting1 · 23/05/2014 08:59

Hi can i please join? I'M 15 weeks today. i have had trouble joining but have sorted it out now! Will be nice to share this exciting journey with you all! im pregnant with baby number 3 and have 2 boys. Feeling mostly ok but terrible nausea in evening/night. Had first scan and all was ok just waiting for next scan date now. Hope everyone is well.

2boysandcounting1 · 23/05/2014 09:00

Sorry i forgot to add my due date if someone can add me please? It's November 14th but will be before then as will be having a section.

BrandSnob · 23/05/2014 09:01

I really would like to BF and will be discussing this with my consultant at my 16 week appointment next week. As part of my stroke medication I'm on statins, but had to stop taking them all when TTC. I hope I don't have to start taking them again straight after the birth as you can't BF on statins. I'm going to try and hold out for as long as possible.

StudyFullTime · 23/05/2014 09:12

Hiya everyone, happy birthday to birthday girls. I'm going to breastfeed again if I'm able as it's free no faffing around with bottles and sterilisation, DS bf no problems no hope this one will too.

With whoever said about itchy nips and itch seems to move so can never scratch/rub in the right place! I'm just working my notice through as I'm struggling with work, going to live off DP for a while and spend some quality time with DS before he starts school in September.

He asked if he could look in my belly button to see the new baby yesterday, I said I wish it were that easy son!

Hope everyone is good, it seems that time is flying by!

14 weeks 2 days today

Miskate · 23/05/2014 09:52

Happy birthday to the birthday ladies, eat muchos muchos cake.
Study - "I wish it were that easy son" that has made me do a loud snort laugh in work, thank you.
No itchy nips here, but they are twice their usual size today. Fun times!

TwigletFiend · 23/05/2014 09:58

Happy birthday, ladies Grin Hope lots of pampering is on the cards!

RE itchiness, it seems to be my whole boob rather than just the nip. Driving me nuts! Slightly weirded out that one appears to have grown and not the other too Hmm

I'd really like to bf and am hoping it won't be too difficult, though I am braced. All the stories of how hard it is make me worry, but both my mother and (weirdly) my boss have told me that as long as you get help right at the beginning rather than getting in a muddle most problems should be fairly ease to solve, unless they're medical issues obviously. I'm clinging to that thought.

Is anyone thinking of expressing? I'd like to be able to so that we can co-feed after a few weeks. Any experiences or advice would be much appreciated!

Welcome lurkers, glad you're joining us Smile

mismylin, if it feels different to previous growth pains I'd call and discuss with your mw, just to be sure. No harm in checking!

Study, that's gorgeous and cute Grin Imagine if it really was like a little window! Poor Bean would be very startled by all the people staring at him/her all the time!

We're not finding out the gender of ours, but I am increasingly thinking it's a girl. No logical reason or basis, just a feeling. Happy either way, though if it's a DD she's going to get very spoilt as the first girl born to DP's generation in the whole extended family!

Venus2 · 23/05/2014 10:15

I'm starting to get the mask of pregnancy which is a bit depressing. Other than sunscreen and a hat, does anyone know how to stop it?

Miskate · 23/05/2014 10:24

The mask of pregnancy?? That sounds ominous!

StudyFullTime · 23/05/2014 10:26

venus I'm not sure you can stop it, I have a lovely brown line around my top lip from DS and it's starting to get darker again with this one.

I also have lots of freckles appearing, I'm embracing them but soon they will all merge into one and I'll have one big one.

The joys of pregnancy I'm afraid.

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 23/05/2014 11:19

Hi ladies just jumping over from the December thread I'm 12+2 and just wondering if any on you have/had suffered with back pain/back ache? And have any solutions rather than popping a paracetamol constantly?

moggle · 23/05/2014 11:44

emily it's more a long term thing and not a quick fix but do you do Pilates or anything like that? Since I started it (couple of years ago now) I suffer much less with any aches and pains as my core is so much stronger these days. Aiming to keep it going all through pregnancy although may have to switch to a pregnancy class once it gets to the point that there are more exercises I can't do than can!

Re breastfeeding- I definitely want to try it. I have already googled local "lactation consultants" (great job title!) and am planning on asking my parents to pay for a few visits if it turns out to be necessary, rather than them buying a cot or something.

Our holiday has turned into a bit of a damp squib :-( one warm sunny day at the start, the rest has been storms, high winds and lots of cloud :-( today the sky is fully overcast and it's quite cool out. I know I shouldn't moan, and I don't really mind not being able to sunbathe, but I just didn't bring enough things to do inside! Bored of reading and helping to entertain my niece who has a definite case of the terrible twos this week. On the plus side I've finished an adorable cardigan for baby :-)

Miskate · 23/05/2014 11:56

Emily - I second what moggle says and also would like to throw in a pregnancy yoga suggestion. Getting a big inflatable birthing ball and putting it in the small of your back as you lean against a wall is incredibly helpful when I have back pain.

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 23/05/2014 12:17

Hi ladies thanks for your replies I would love to do pregnancy yoga but sadly commuting and working full time I don't get home early enough for any of the classes and annoyingly there don't seem to be any on the weekends. Perhaps a pregnancy yoga dvd I could do might be helpful? I have an exercise ball at home so can try that.

ladydolly · 23/05/2014 12:32

Emily I've had back pain since about 12 weeks. Swimming helps (again you might not have time for it). My work let me go to yoga during work hours (I'm not supposed to make the hours up but I do). Failing that you can get some great yoga on youtube

www.youtube.com/user/YOGABYCANDACE

www.doyogawithme.com/

Make sure you take it easy though, don't push yourself as hard as you would pre preggo. Hope it eases soon.

Miskate · 23/05/2014 12:54

The links ladydolly gives above will be really useful. Also, if you already have an exercise ball then just try the ball + wall trick, rolling slowly up and down and side to side. Also, sitting on the ball and rotating your hips in circles.

blamber · 23/05/2014 14:37

I have this dvd. I started it today and its great. I did the easy outline and it was lovely to stretch and relax. Should be good for your back too.

Elliekins · 23/05/2014 14:40

Hello newcomers!

Apparently this is an excellent yoga DVD, I wouldn't know, have had it for 6 weeks now but it is still unopened Blush
However, now I have some enormous 2nd hand yoga trousers I might get on with it... soon...

Elliekins · 23/05/2014 14:41

Can I really be so inept that I can't copy a link properly?
Anyway, Tara Lee DVD, from Amazon. Lots of good reviews...

alita7 · 23/05/2014 14:43

Hello everyone :)
Had my 16 week appointment today and all went well, ninja played ball and she found the hb instantly, it was between 150- 160bpm apparently
I've been thinking about my birthing plan, any tips?
