Amazing news ladylel, how exciting!

chilly, you are me. My scan isn't until the 2nd either, when I'll be 13wks, and I am so tempted to go and get another scan before then. Saw an hb at 7+4, but paranoid that it'll be another mmc.

Also found that my symptoms, such as they were - no ms, are lessening a little, I have bursts of energy occasionally. But I am still knackered mostly, and weeing at least 4x a night.

Shanels · 22/05/2014 17:18

Wow lady twins!!! Whoop whoop
punky congrats- lovely pic!

chilly I'm 11+1 today and have no symptoms. No bump. All of a sudden feel less tired. I have started worrying if something has happened too. My scan is 2nd June so won't know for a long 10 days. :(

Bettycakes80 · 22/05/2014 17:58

Twins! That is so exciting. DH has twin sisters and they're super close which is lovely. Had my scan today and saw the baby doing lots of waving. Still dated at 12+3 so due 1st December. I drank half a bottle of water and was intending to drink the lot but they called us in so quickly I didn't have time to finish it. Didn't affect the scan though so I don't think you need a completely full bladder.

CallingAllEngels · 22/05/2014 18:16

pourquoi I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. I think it's natural to feel sad at this time and miss having her with you. ((hugs))

And regarding seeing mw, over here you sign up to a practice. We had a few to choose from in the city we lived in but chose the one nearest to us. Over the course of the pg we will see all 4 midwives because you never know who's on duty when you go into labour. That way you won't have someone you don't know delivering your baby. I was with them for my last pg with DS and in the early stages of my last mc when they referred me to hospital for further care, so was lovely to see a familiar face at my scan on Monday.

bighairy scary. Hope you're feeling better You take it easy tomorrow!

don't have nct here and tbh I find it difficult socialising in dutch with big groups so we didn't go to a group, just a one of session about the birth. My MN post natal group was my virtual support group so expect to hear a lot from me once I'm on ML!

CallingAllEngels · 22/05/2014 18:17

Congrats lady

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 22/05/2014 18:29

Aww twins how lovely, congrats Lady!

You've all convinced me, I'll stick around on this thread. Grin

What I found interesting is the difference between my 12 week scan with ds1, where the scan showed I was actually 11 weeks, whereas this time it's 13 weeks. Looking at the pictures next to each other and it's amazing how much the baby grows and develops in two weeks. At 11 weeks ds was a little jumping thing with tiny little arms and legs. This baby is all long limbs and waving and kicking.

I didn't have a completely full bladder as I had to stop off at the public toilets on the way there to relieve myself as I was so desperate for a wee I thought I was about to have an accident. Learnt my lesson for next time.

CatFaceCrayola · 22/05/2014 19:20

Congratulations on the successful scans and the twins!

big hairy sounds horrible. ..sod work and stay in bed!

I'm feeling okish today. Just have an uncomfortable full feeling stomach.

my work pants no longer fasten, I'm running out of floaty belly disguising tops and I fear I've already developed the pregnant lady walk/plod!

One more day of stinking work but get to leave early for booking appointment and then it's half term. ..yay!

9+4

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 22/05/2014 19:22

Omg BigHairy take it easy!! Listen to your gut...literally!

I'm supposed to work tomorrow but I am EXHAUSTED and technically I've done my hours this week, so I'm buggering off home at lunch time. So glad it's a long weekend and I'm not working Grin

Ladylel · 22/05/2014 19:36

Thanks for the well wishes peeps.
Yes there are a few twins on both sides of our families, my nan is a triplet, my other nans sister had twins, my auntie also had twins 5years ago. My Oh side his grandad sister had 3 sets of twins! I think it was inevitable it would be my turn!
Tbh I never thought I'd have them, but it's weird as a lot of people had been winding us up about twins for ages! And I thought I'd been a lot worse sickness wise, seem to be very sensitive things, plus I'd been ill so my immune system had taken a hit somewhat so wasn't sure if it's was just me or something more intense.
Here's some pickies for some ahh and oohhss was beautiful hearing the heart beats. Very overwelhming.

ots · 22/05/2014 20:11

Congratulations Lady, lovely pictures.
So pleased for all of you with happy scans. Being due at the end of December, mine seems so far away on 18th June! Hurry up!!

ImBrian · 22/05/2014 20:20

Had my scan this afternoon and all was well. Dated at 13+1 so due 26th November. The lady doing the scan was pretty sure baby is a boy and we could see bits that were very male looking on scan so it'll be interesting to see if she's right. I'm now googling pictures to see if it's possible to tell so early.

Lady congratulations on the twins :)

nickyjlees · 22/05/2014 20:46

spiderhope you're feeling better! Waahey for hot paramedics tho ;)
Congratulations ladylel, double the trouble, twice the fun!

pourquoi I've been put forward to the 27th November but staying put, couldn't do without this lovely groups chat every day.

chilly I felt exactly the same, my symptoms pretty much disappeared overnight around 9/10 weeks apart from tiredness and I didn't feel at all pregnant. Had totally convinced myself that I would go to the scan and it would be bad news. I then had some bleeding and bad period type pains last weekend but lo and behold little one was in there happily jumping around, oblivious to the worry, tears and stress :). That was on Monday and I have another scan tomorrow and I will still be wobbling from now until 3.30 tomorrow til we see that screen again! It's only natural to worry and for those of us that are worriers anyway I think we almost try to prepare ourselves for the worst in every situation! I really do take comfort from the thought that if god forbid anything bad does happen or there are difficulties to get through there is support here. Would have been lost so far without all the advice I've picked up from you all.

Lolly84 · 22/05/2014 20:51

Chilly we speak on another thread and want to give you reassurance. I had my scan at exactly 12 weeks and the week running up to it I felt normal like literally not a symptom. Natural fear you have and the fact you had a hb at 8 weeks will mean you have a great chance of seeing a healthy baby on the scan.

monkeybaby2 · 22/05/2014 21:03

Oh ladies those scan pictures are so lovely! Can't wait for mine now :)

crayola I know what you mean! I am in my old maternity trews already and my tummy is still pushing my tops out.

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 22/05/2014 21:56

Congrats on all with positive scan today
imbrian i like the little hand sticking out on your scan pic Grin

KateJ28 · 22/05/2014 22:56

Congratulations on all the lovely scans and the twins ladyley!!!!

bigspider, I hope you have your feet up and aren't planning to move from the house again anytime soon!!!

KateJ28 · 22/05/2014 22:58

ps thanks to everyone for all the NCT advice. I'm going to speak to the mw at my booking appt on Weds but I think I will join up.

BTW, it looks like my EDD may move to 31 December, though that's just based on reassurance scan so will wait until dating scan to confirm, but I may be the last to deliver!! You November ladies will be pros by then Smile

BTW, did any of you who've had scans have the nuchal scan too? Do you get the results immediately, or do you have to wait?

ffallada · 23/05/2014 00:17

Hi ladies,
Thought I'd pop back in and see how you are all doing - are we still updating the spreadsheet?
I've been gone for a while as I've had a bit of a rough time with symptoms and reading about other peoples illness made it ten times worse I'm a bit of a wuss heaven help me when I am soley responsible for cleaning up someone else's sick!

Thanks Kate for asking about the NCT classes - I had signed up then let the booking lapse as I wasn't sure about paying all that money on me when we will have a new mouth to feed/clothe. It was really great to see what other people thought.

And thanks to the ladies who were discussing weight a wee while ago. It really put my mind at rest to find other people in the 'not the weight I had planned to be' camp.

I've been manically googling 'cronic tiredness' as I'm a walkin zombie - can't believe This is normal. It is normal. Teach me to walk up three munros on Monday. It was our first wedding anniversary and we wanted to do something memorable, cheap, that didn't involve alcohol. Success on all three counts! Paying for it now though as I'm out of breath coming up the stairs to my flat.

Hoping more ladies put up their scans - mines not till the 3rd so it's nice to be excited for you all.

espa · 23/05/2014 03:45

Ugh never ever doing any serious travel while pg again. Other than UK trips alresdy booked but hopefully be better by then.

Airport pickup this morning at 4am. 1hr bus journey on twisty roads. Cue me being sick in a BA puke bag for 10 minutes and in tears. Totally mortified, just wanted to shout out I'M PREGNANT OKAY! Now at airport with 12 hr flight ahead of me and dreading it. Praying to the pregnamcy gods for an upgrade to Club so I can get a bed (will never happen). Please everyone cross your fingers for me that I get through it with minimum fuss and then manage to survive the Gatwick-Heathrow transfer before I finally get home at 10pm tonight.

Sorry for the moaning, just feel utterly miserable.

PS: Loving the twins scan, gorgeous!!

Ladylel · 23/05/2014 06:55

Kate I had the NT scan and on the screen they said it appears to be low/normal but because it's twins they are more cautious so I've had to also have a blood test to comfirm/determine if there is a higher risk altho consultant assured us it's unlikely there would be any complications and it's jus a precaution but then went on the scary road ode what if and how we would deal with a possibility if one was higher risk etc. Have full confidence everything is fine!

On a lighter note I AM GETTING MARRIED
TODAY! With 2 extra guests in tow!

Wish me luck! Xxx

CallingAllEngels · 23/05/2014 07:04

Congrats ladylel - have a wonderful day!

espa - hope the rest of the journey isn't too miserable. You'll be home soon!

ffallada I am officially on a no-movement exercise plan! No running, no unecessary walking up and down stairs!

kate I'll join you at the back of the bus! My edd slipped back one day to 29th Dec at my 8w scan. We'll see if it goes back more at dating scan.

nickyjlees · 23/05/2014 07:13

Good luck luck lady, have a fab day! X

Somersetgirl1990 · 23/05/2014 07:30

Good luck ladylel!! Have a brilliant day Grin
My scan is in an hour and a half and I'm so worried Confused all I keep thinking is they're going to tell me that heartbeats stopped and then I don't know what I'd do. Arghhh just want to be there already and have my mind out at ease hopefully!!

PunkyPod · 23/05/2014 07:51

Whoever asked about the nuchal test....the sonographer will measure an area on the baby's neck. This goes on a report so you can read it. Mine was 1.9mm which is within normal range. I think anything over 4 or so is high risk...? And then the blood test is done. Blood gets sent off for testing and results come within 2 weeks (usually much sooner). It'll for you a risk factor which for most people will be in the thousands. So basically you don't get the overall risk score on the day but you can see the nuchal fold measurement and get an idea from that.
