Hobbled into physio yesterday, 15 minutes of prodding my side and bum and I walked out a new woman!

AuntieMaggie · 30/04/2014 13:20

plate I wasn't going to get a new mattress for my carrycot I was just going to clean the one thats there as I read that they aren't suitable for babys to sleep in for long periods anyway so will just be out and about. I've seen milton in the chemist and will use some strategically for when baby comes.

Second antenatal class with physio this morning... lots of good stuff but have been told under strict instructions to watch posture when breast feeding and to bathe/change babies at about waist height and not on floor/sofa next to you etc in the first 5/6 months as it takes that long for the pelvic ligaments to recover...

DP had to massage me despite his stroppy mood and was given strict instructions to not only take care of most housework now but also first 5/6 months (was interesting to hear they don't recommend returning to high impact exercise til then). DP was also told how to give me a perenium (?) massage... Ha ha!

AuntieMaggie · 30/04/2014 13:22

blue hopefully the antibiotics will help. Can you buy big bottles of tea tree oil?

icklekid · 30/04/2014 13:55

fifi that's amazing news!
auntie hope dp keeps it up with massages at the moment dh keeps asking for them need to tell him it's the wrong way round!
plate great news about the buggy et al Smile
blue glad dh is there even if it's not how he planned his birthday can always make up for it later!

BlueC2 · 30/04/2014 14:48

auntie you only need a tiny few drops of tea tree at a time so the small bottles last a while which is good as they're about £7

Have had a nice mini nap during time paracetamol working but now got mega pain for 2 hours as got an hour before I can take them again and they seem to take an hour to kick in :(

Plateofcrumbs · 30/04/2014 15:10

Aargh! Just had a call from hospital number 1 wanting to make me an appointment with consultant but administrator wasn't able to tell me why they wanted to see me. I'm utterly confused as the appointment they want to make is two days after an appointment with my consultant at hospital 2 (really doesn't help my care is split over 3 hospitals in the same trust!).

Nature abhors a vacuum so I'm just filling the void in information with all kinds of panicky thoughts about why they want to see me. It's probably just plain old administrative incompetence but...argh!

I'm supposed to be getting a call back from the consultant to explain what's going on, and I'm going into hospital number 2 for a growth scan tomorrow, so hopefully one or other of those things will reassure me.

I'm hoping that as hospital number 1 has only really seen me about the cysts/endometrioma, then it is probably related to that, and I'm not really worried about that. But on other hand at my last scan at hospital 1 they were also pointing out my umbilical cord, which I know to be dodgy, so v paranoid they didn't like what they saw. Ugh.

Sorry for waffling!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 30/04/2014 16:19

Eugh, plate, hope they clear up the mystery soon and you know what that's about. I'm finding it hard enough juggling appointments and information between my GP and my (one) hospital so you have my sympathies! Good you've got a scan tomorrow so you can at least get some answers out of hospital number 1.

blue - hope you're feeling better soon.

Does anyone else seem to develop backache around this time of day? Think sitting at a desk for long periods of the day not great for me.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 30/04/2014 16:19

Sorry plate meant hospital number 2!

Plateofcrumbs · 30/04/2014 17:18

Thanks holiday - I'm losing track of which hospital is which myself!

Now I'm feeling a bit calmer after that panic earlier I think maybe the person I saw last time for the scan of cysts did say that the consultant would be back in touch if they had any further concerns about them. And the administrator was very specific about 'bringing my notes' so my guess is the consultant just wants to review them to reassess how much the cysts have grown. That sound plausible at least so I'll stick with that and hopefully that will stop the fatalistic bit of my brain worrying!

I am starting to get a little bit of insight into how your priorities must change having children - I honestly couldn't give a rat's ass about this whole cysts/endometriosis saga, so long as it has no impact on the baby.

Plateofcrumbs · 30/04/2014 17:38

Oh OK you can put down your worry beads everyone - just had a call from consultant and it is as suspected they just want yet another scan of cysts.

Also have now finally cleared up the fact that the consultant that hospital 1 keeps referring to by their surname and hospital 2 refers to by their first name are in fact the same person Confused

And all the confusion with the most recent appointment has come from the fact that the doctor at hospital 1 thought one of my scans was at hospital 3 when in fact it was a private scan at clinic A. Hope that's all clear Wink

icklekid · 30/04/2014 17:45

Wow plate I'm totally lost but as long as you know what's going on and are happy that's all that matters!

Plateofcrumbs · 30/04/2014 17:52

Just for you ickle a distilled version of that afternoon micro-drama: "rubbish hospital admin again causes plate to panic unnecessarily again "

icklekid · 30/04/2014 19:31

Thanks plate thats about my level at least it ends happily unlike my ability to keep any food down at all today Sad think its safe to say new medicine is not having the desired effect! Been on it since Monday...have to teach tomorrow and Friday despite only managing half a day so far this week. ..this could be interesting. ..

AuntieMaggie · 30/04/2014 20:00

Glad you seem to have sorted out the confusion plate

ickle that doesn't sound good at all Thanks

I have a tip for those of your suffering with heartburn... don't eat liquorice allsorts! I have been in agony all afternoon :(

ismarah · 30/04/2014 20:04

Wahey Plate that it was nothing err...more serious...than another check-up. How frustrating about the name though!

Very sorry ladies are poorly and out of glasses or suffering losses. People can be really sh!tty sometimes - who steals someone's glasses!

I've been feeling quite melancholy for the last few nights which leaves me feeling somewhat edgy and sharp during the day. However, I've just won a changing bag on eBay, along with two slings and a bouncer, and somehow that's really cheered me up. I also got a gorgeous knitted rainbow blanket that arrived today. All that's left now is a cot bed etc, car seat, and incidentals, like nappies and soap and that sort of thing.

DH is completely freaking out about money, which he does regularly anyway as a freelancer but it always works out fine. All the more reason for eBay bargains then!

icklekid · 30/04/2014 20:30

Good work on the ebay purchases ismarah which did you go for? I love the mama and papas patternology blankets some lovely designs. MIL has knitted us 2 beautiful blankets those so think will just use them- nice that they have personal value and are meaningful

mixi82 · 30/04/2014 20:59

i'm on a massive knitting addiction, keeps me busy anyway! i've only just started, still learning little things but here are some pics of my completed bits

not sure I like my lettering creation though so may try to adapt that one! anyone want a little set of booties or hat let me know :)

This was the blanket - although I suppose I should have made my own :-( - This one is so pretty though!

Bouncer was a BabyBjorn one and the change bag a BabyMel of some kind. I somehow got both for about half price of a new one, even though other auctions were going for higher than that. I've not really used eBay before so I'm stupidly excited by this..

Does anyone have any suggestions for breastfeeding pillows or similar?

ellentullo · 30/04/2014 21:16

Growth scan today all good - big relief. I need to give my abs some retrospective love cos I don't think I ever really appreciated them before - and now it's too late! Baby just under 50th centile so approx 3lbs by weight.

And the lovely midwife gave us an illicit peak of the 4d view so we got to see baby boy's chubby cheeks. Hurrah.

Plateofcrumbs · 30/04/2014 21:49

oooh nice knitting skills mixi - wish I could knit (I managed to knit a scarf once and it took me weeks even with the chunkiest wool going).

I've been eyeing up babybjorn bouncers on ebay ismarah and I'm watching a load of bednests at the moment too to get an idea of what they go for.

Glad the growth scan was reassuring ellentullo - superabs Grin. My first one tomorrow....

AuntieMaggie · 30/04/2014 22:09

Well there goes my dignity... DP asked what was on my pyjama top - I think my nipple has been leaking (they only seem to do it at night) then he said your pants have got funny stains on them Blush I haven't noticed myself being wet but they're black and have some bleaching on them...

Patchwork88 · 30/04/2014 22:27

Maggie I thought that too...that they only leaked at night...until one afternoon it leaked through my bra onto my top!!! it was a padded bra and everything. So yeah, now I have lansinoh breast pads in every day.
As for the other staining, is it just discharge?
I must admit I really haven't found pregnancy too bad but the extra bodily fluids really do get me down sometimes!

Patchwork88 · 30/04/2014 22:34

mixi I cant see photos in the app.but went online to check out your knitting. wow!!
I cant knit but my mum has been very busy making some cool stuff from the baby knits book, think its DK. They have really cute stuff. This new is the book:

AuntieMaggie · 30/04/2014 22:38

Its red bleached patches I've read about on here thats apparently to do with the amonia in urine I think (I should've said the pants are clean!)

I will keep an eye on my nipples and get some breast pads!

Patchwork88 · 30/04/2014 23:08

ah yes I got that in some black pants too, had to buy a life time supply of panty liners to try and protect them. Confused

To add a little positivity to the thread I have finished my exams, only one essay and 19 working days left. Bring on the mat leave!
Baby/belly moves so much now I'm convinced it's going to pop out any moment.
