If you're pregnant after a previous MC and due in December 14 this is the thread for you.

If you're an obsessive knicker-checker or just want someone to chat to who knows where you're coming from you'll fit right in.

Ohh ftn I hope you're ok, that is so stressful Hmm, fx you don't have to wait too long and that you get good news soon.

frank thanks for the advice, I grabbed some on my way to work this morning, and I'll give it a go.

Doh, thanks engels I should have guessed.

MrsFtn · 18/06/2014 11:53

Update on my last post...
mw still couldn't find heartbeat so said she would ring for a scan for me. I was told to go to epau straight away
Cue driving to hospital on my own in floods of tears. They were lovely and rushed me through and everything is fine Grin. Baby measuring spot on and heartbeat all fine. It was wriggling around constantly which was lovely to see. Panic over. What a morning! Sorry for self indulgent posts but I have no one in real life to talk to as everyone is at work!

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 18/06/2014 12:01

Ahh ftn such a relief, glad all is fine Smile

Penguin13 · 18/06/2014 14:55

Mrs how awfully stressful for you. So glad everything is ok and you got to see your beautiful baby again. Naughty little wriggler hiding from the doppler and making you worry like that.

Oh my days Mrs what a stressful day. So pleased all turned good in the end. They certainly like to make us worry these little beans don't they!

Hope all went well for you today Basgetti

basgetti · 18/06/2014 17:17

Hi all. The scan went well, baby was wriggling and even waved! I'm 13+3 so due date is 21st Dec. I was in such a state when I got to the clinic, felt sick, anxious and just burst into tears. I felt so silly but a lovely nurse took me into a private area and got me seen straight away. Feeling relaxed for the first time in weeks now.

MrsFtn sorry you went through that today, really pleased all was well and you got to have another peek at your baby x

Sorry the picture hasn't come out too well!

FranksBobot · 18/06/2014 17:36

Fab news basgetti and a lovely pic. Don't feel silly for crying, it's completely understandable. I'm sure they see to plenty given where they work!

StrawbsAndCream · 18/06/2014 18:20

Oh Mrs how stressful for you, that must have been an awful drive! What a monkey you have (definitely male Wink).. How many weeks are you now?

Looking forward to but nervous for my 16 wk appt on Tuesday.

Brill news Franks and Basgetti! Lovely pictures, congratulations! Were you our last '12' week scans??

How's everyone doing in this heat? I'm struggling a bit! It was baking at my Niece's sports day this morning,
Don't feel too great today, a bit achey and tired!

Feeling sorry for penguin and regular with those long commuting hours.. Mine's a 3 minute drive, I don't know how you both do it!

OBEM tonight.. I am watching it with different eyes now!!
X

Penguin13 · 18/06/2014 18:24

That is brilliant news Basgetti! It's a lovely pic, what an adorable little round belly Smile No shame in crying, it's very understandable given the situation and especially with all the pg hormones racing around our systems. Enjoy feeling relaxed!

Is that everyone through the 12 week gauntlet now? Soon we will all be on to the next midwife appointment and then - eek - 20 week scans! My 16 week appointment is tomorrow. I hope they do listen for hb as I've read some have a policy of not doing so at 16 weeks. If they do I hope that mini penguin doesn't decide to play hide and seek like Ftn's today!

CallingAllEngels · 18/06/2014 18:26

How scary mrsftn - glad everything is okay. We should hear hb at next appt at 15 weeks.

lovely pic basgetti

MrsFtn · 18/06/2014 20:25

Great news basgetti I think I've shed tears every time I've been for a scan (today was my 5th in this pregnancy!) I wish my mw had never even tried to find a heartbeat now. I wasn't too worried when she couldn't find it as I know 16 weeks is still early but she seemed a bit panicked and when I was told to go straight to hospital that panicked me even more. Oh well, I'm looking on the bright side now in that I got to see baby again. My mum said exactly the same strawbs "it must be a boy giving you all this trouble"!

My commute is 40 mins in the car with my DD who is at nursery near to where I work. I don't mind it too much but wouldn't want to go any further. I don't know how you ladies do it for over 2 hours - especially on London's public transport system!

I've been really feeling the heat today. I don't want to complain though as I love summer and it's good to have some dry days at last.

Is there a flag that means I don't give a sh!t about the foolsball but I'm looking forward to Wimbledon starting next week?! Tennis

MrsFtn · 18/06/2014 20:26

I forgot to say thank you for all your messages - it's so good to have people to share all these ups and downs with!

Penguin13 · 19/06/2014 13:01

The good news is that everything was fine at my 16wk appointment. Bloods all normal and the mw found the heartbeat in 3 seconds flat which was good and I got to confirm to myself that I had actually been hearing the hb at home. I feel a little deflated following the appointment though. She has replaced my old mw and maybe she was having an off day but the whole thing felt kind of rushed and cursory. She was perfectly pleasant but I was given no opportunity to voice any concerns or ask questions and she actually told me I was feeling well rather than asking me Confused I suppose I should be grateful really that everything is going well so the appointment didn't need to be longer Smile.

OP posts:
ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 19/06/2014 13:19

penguin great news, always satisfying hearing HB. Shame the mw wasn't more attentive to your feelings and needs tho.

I feel even less pg now than when I didn't feel pg in 1st tri. So confusing and another 11 days before mw appt. Considering going to epu next week once DP is back.

15+0

FranksBobot · 19/06/2014 13:45

I have a couple of questions that are bugging me so thought i'd ask your opinions. I've tried ringing the midwife about the first one but they never answer the chuffing phone.

  1. Do you think it is ok for me to stop taking my prenatal vitamins now i'm 13 weeks? Normally i would keep taking them but i am pretty sure they are adding to my sickness. Have tried taking them at different times of day/night with/without food etc
  1. I have been offered an elective section and know the date it would be if i accept. I haven't decided yet but if i do go for it, is it rude not to tell people that date?

Glad all went well at your 16 wk appointment Penguin
Paranoid Maybe you are about to enter that magically glowing stage of pregnancy i keep hearing about!

I feel like I'm miles behind everyone else on this thread! 13 weeks today!

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 19/06/2014 14:33

frank mw told me to keep taking folic acid till week 14 and that vitamin D is important in 2nd tri. I personally believe that food and sun are the best providers of everything we need, although I gave in and started taking pregnacare from week 12 Shock. So to answer your question 1, I would keep only folic acid for another week and start vitamin D now, the rest is less important. 2. I don't see why that would be rude, your journey, your body, you do what you want Grin

PresidentSpreadable · 19/06/2014 15:17

Franks, I am deliberately not telling people my EDD, and being very vague. The same will apply if I end up having an ELCS, or I would add two or three days on to the date and enjoy the peace and quiet with my new baby!

AIBU to be a bit miffed that I'm not even seeing the consultant until I'm 18 weeks? I'm supposedly high risk, and therefore the mw hasn't even given me her number or the days of her clinic local to me. I feel a bit unloved tbh.

We went to the FMC for our Harmony test the other day though, how the other half live! The mini-anomaly scan was amazing, tiny hands and feet kung fu kicking away, and everything as it should be. Two weeks til the bloods come back.

FranksBobot · 19/06/2014 15:51

Thanks Paranoid I've been taking boots pregnancy support (cheap pregnacare!) I will persist for a week then purchase some vitamin D with no added extras.

President it is a bit odd that you aren't seeing the consultant until 18weeks but I wouldn't worry to much. Mine was bloody useless on Monday. I'm hoping next time I see him at 36 weeks he will be a bit more helpful. He didn't do anything of any interest apart from get grumpy as I haven't decided what delivery I want.
Can you try and find out clinic times via your GP? At least then you can turn up if you feel the need.
My community midwife team never answer the sodding phone and I feel a fraud ringing the hospital number I have.

I don't mind people knowing EDD as dd was 16 days late so chances are i will go over anyway but the elcs date is different as it's set in stone! Also doesn't help that in laws are going on hols my due date and not back until January 16th.

StrawbsAndCream · 19/06/2014 18:48

penguin that's fab! Glad she found the heartbeat so quickly.. I'm getting quite nervous about the thought of her trying to find it, I hope mine is that quick! I've resisted borrowing a friend's Doppler as I know I'd just panic if I couldn't find it myself but maybe afterwards I will.

paranoid I think it's completely normal to feel like that, I felt like that up until a couple of days ago.. Still feeling very tired and have achey muscles, maybe I'm coming down with something or possibly the heat.. Or possibly just pregnancy!!

Franks I don't think it's rude to not tell people at all, I'd possibly tell people a few days later like president said, then when you've had the baby in piece, just say they had a cancellation and you could have the section a few days earlier than planned. I don't know if that actually happens though!

I've just sent the other half off to do a big shop on his own for the first time, I did give him a list but it could end disastrously..and no doubt I'll have a fridge full of yellow stickers!

A week today until our scan. With those that said they think they might have felt tiny movements, what did it feel like? Only about 3 or 4 times while lying on my back (once just now) I've felt a few very gentle twitch like pokes very low down which definitely isn't wind. But maybe it's just a normal twitch.. Who knows!

MrsFtn · 19/06/2014 21:11

franks I don't think it's rude not to tell people at all. Its a good idea to say it is later than it actually is though. My friend at work had a c section with her first and is due with her second in a couple of weeks - she still hasn't decided whether to have elcs or try for normal delivery! They can't make you decide before you are ready so don't let them pressure you.

I have a date for my 20 week scan - 10th July - I will be 19+6. Only three weeks away, I didn't expect it to be so soon! I'll have to have my anti d injection around then too I think. Has anyone else got to have this?

Are we all through the 12 week scans now?

Penguin13 · 19/06/2014 21:36

Chiming in with the opinions that it's definitely not rude to keep your due date to yourself Franks. Wish I'd thought to do that myself!

Having got over myself a bit I'm now remembering how lucky I am to even be at this stage with everything ok and if a slightly offhand mw is my biggest worry I can count myself extremely fortunate indeed!

I would be miffed having to wait till 18 weeks too President. Is your mw attached to a GP surgery? They may be able to tell you the days of her clinic. It's annoying that you have to search through as a mw contact should be given to you as a matter of course I thought.

Strawbs as a first timer my guesses at what might be movement are a stab in the dark but it feels like tiny little bubbles moving around inside to me but that's what makes me think mine is most likely gas/wishful thinking! My SIL said it felt like an insect crawling inside her so thought I'd pass on that lovely image to you all Grin. So impatient to feel movement and know for sure that's what it is. Maybe when you have your scan you'll see movement on the screen and feel it at the same time!

OP posts:
PresidentSpreadable · 20/06/2014 10:38

No movements here yet, at least not that I've noticed. I do try and focus on it late at night or first thing in the morning when I'm in bed, just to see if I can feel anything.

I've got to have an anti-D injection too MrsFtn, well I think I have. I last had one after my mmc, so possibly I don't need another one at the moment? I've forgotten everything they said at my booking in now, although I do remember that the baby will have to be vaccinated against TB as my borough is high risk, and I will be having the whooping cough jab at some point during pregnancy. Good job I don't have a needle phobia.

I'm going to try and get the mw contact details from the hospital, it would just be nice to have someone to answer a few questions I've got.

MrsFtn · 22/06/2014 09:18

Wow a whole day without a post. Us knicker-checkers must finally be coming to terms with the fact that it might all be ok this time after all!!

I was told at my last scan that I have an anterior placenta which means I might not feel movements til a bit later. I'm quite disappointed but at least I know there's a reason I'm not feeling anything yet. Not looking forward to my anit d and whooping cough jabs. I don't mind blood tests but I'm not a fan of things beinginjected into me!

hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Nice and sunny here this morning Smile

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 22/06/2014 17:48

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I'm shattered and can't stop eating, tried everything relatively healthy and don't know what it wants. Is it too early to teach them good eating habits? should i give in to pizza?

Here's my growing bump, morning, lunch and late afternoon today, no wonder people at work are suspicious, another . 15+3
