ILove Hope you little one gets better soon.

I have my scan tomorrow morning. I am a mixture of excited and nervous! My DH is just excited and can't understand why I am nervous. I guess he just doesn't quite understand.

cookielove · 21/04/2014 19:24

iate sorry that was my only idea! Blush

IAteSomeofthePies · 21/04/2014 19:29

Thanks, cookie! I know - mine, too! This is my first time making it to 20 weeks, so I don't know if we actually even get a report? I got one at 12 weeks.

Cumbrian I know just how you feel. I was the same last Tuesday night. And my DH was just the same as yours. Fingers crossed that you'll have a wonderful time tomorrow. At least it's in the morning, so you'll less time to stew.

lilone1234 · 21/04/2014 19:53

iate With my report they stuck it on top of the 12 week one, so it would have been easy to think it was the same one. Maybe they did that? Otherwise probably will be sent to the consultant!

whiteblossom · 21/04/2014 19:55

polka that's very kind of your MIL if a little odd, has she not realised that times have moved on, baby items have improved and that perhaps you might like to choose your own. Have a stock of phrases in your head so when she mentions " polka, I thought Id drop off those 40 year old used blankets and that high chair I told you about" you simply say "mil, its ever so kind of you to offer those things to me but I'd really like to go shopping and choose some things myself but thank you for being so thoughtful" Otherwise take them and hide them in the garage Grin Im sure you can come up with something better though.

big hugs cookie

Ive got my scan on wed am. Im nervous and excited. My ds is very excited to find out the sex. Today I am massive (not helped my dh and ds buying me easter eggs) but I did go out on my bike today Grin burn some calories...

polkadotdelight · 21/04/2014 20:31

Thank you whiteblossom, it's a bit odd isn't it! Also, our house is tiny (with no storage) so where the hell she thinks I'd keep an old fashioned pram is beyond me! She means well but you are right, I need to practice my stock phrases. We've come home from there today with an obscene amount of sugary stuff (hot cross buns, cakes, chocolate) and I've told DH to take lots of it to work. We tell her not to every year........!!

cookielove · 21/04/2014 20:43

:)

misog2000 · 21/04/2014 20:45

Polkadot my mil is the same trying to give me DH's baby stuff, but fortunately for me she will be having the baby while I'm at work a couple of days a week so I have suggested she had better keep it all at hers, as she will need it when lo is with her.

So envious of those of you who have scans soon, mines not till the 12th May which seems forever away

Fairypants · 21/04/2014 20:57

Well it's not DH's old stuff but fil turned up today with a travel cot and pushchair his neighbour was throwing out.
I say pushchair, it was the base of a quinny but no chair bit and missing 2 wheelsConfused. I don't even know if you can get all the bits that would be needed to make a full pushchair but either way, we actually have the money to get the stuff we choose for this baby (everything was 2nd hand and a real struggle with the other 2) so I really don't know what to do with it.
The travel cot is in good condition but you can't get replacement mattresses so I don't think I want to use it based on the SIDS recommendation.
I'm touched by the thought but feel really bad and know this is only the start - now he feels we're enough into the pregnancy to get stuff, he will be filling up the house with it and I'm really looking forward to shopping myself.

topmammy · 21/04/2014 21:03

I have to sing my MIL's praises today, she's been great. She has gloss painted the skirting boards, door, cupboard doors and windowsill in the nursery. Really strong smelling that gloss paint so I stayed out the way!

Luckily she is big on de-cluttering and loves a good chucking out session so no old baby things coming my way lol. I can definitely see how awkward that must be to say thanks but no thanks! In fact she gave me and DH some money, we tried to say no but she insisted Blush I hope giving her her first grandchild will show her how grateful we are :)

Good luck to those with upcoming scans. I know how daunting it is but try to enjoy it too, I wish I could have another one just to look at baby again, it's soo amazing!

Back to work tomorrow for me Easter Sad boo hoo!

polkadotdelight · 21/04/2014 21:19

I feel your pain Fairypants!!

Topmammy I think my MIL needs a few lessons from yours (she's fab and I know I'm being ungrateful).

KitKat1985 · 21/04/2014 22:22

Hello. Just checking in to say hi to everyone. Not too much to report apart from some stretching pains and a rapidly expanding bump! Definitely need to get some more bigger bras as well! Looking forward to being able to find out the sex in a week and a half. Hope everyone has had a nice Easter weekend (I've been at work every day of the 4-day weekend Sad ) and treated themselves to some choccy. xxx

Nazly · 21/04/2014 23:00

Topsy thanks for the tip; you are definitely right and I spent more than an hour in a mother care looking at graco options and bugaboo options, the bugaboo ones look quality but they are really expensive and not convinced if they are value for money...
Want to look at a few more brands but didn't find mother care staff knowledgable enough to be honest ; they didn't know or didn't want to share some info I already found on web on some brands...

I have the scan tomorrow afternoon exactly at 21 week ; I am nervous (but i guess that's normal?) , hope we get a good patient consultant who explains things clearly...

polkadotdelight · 22/04/2014 06:40

Urgh, back to work today.

Nazly we like the look of the Mamas and Papas Zoom travel system, they were really helpful when we went in. Hoping to buy something second hand though.

cookielove · 22/04/2014 08:42

polka we looked at the zoom to it was between that and the quinny buzz, we managed to get a ridiculously second hand one for £150 (came with rain cover, seat, cosy toes, buggy bag, and pump) in excellent nick off of ebay, with everything included it came to £378 (car seat, familyfix base and adapters) the original pushchair would have cost us £450 new with nothing else!

ilovemonstersInc · 22/04/2014 08:52

Cookie you will love the quinny. I cant recommend it enough!

Lots of pains and niggles here. Thinks im starting up with another uti as I had a lot of kidney pain on the side where the kidney doesnt function too well.
Glad everywhere is back to normal today. Need to ring a few consultants for the boys. Eldest with his tummy and baby with hia chest. Gp wont prescribe what consultant recommended.

Teabiscuits · 22/04/2014 11:25

Checking in for the first time in ages - I missed so much!

Have seen the consultant (who I must say was bloody brilliant) and we are being induced between 38 and 39 weeks, so I'm more likely end of Aug than Sept now. So relieved - I thought they were going to completely dismiss us, just the scan to go on Friday and I will be able to relax a bit finally, assuming all is well.

It's starting to dawn on me that we have to fit four children into a two bed house, there's no way we can move just yet (this baby was result of a contraception fail!) DH and I may have to sleep in the garage! Although this seems like a pretty minor worry compared to what some of the ladies on here have been going through recently Thanks . Love to you all.

Hope everyone is doing ok, I can't believe some of us are half way, the days are flying past now.

Totally understand getting annoyed with people assuming you would prefer a boy over a girl or vice versa. This is how I respond to it now -
'ooh how exciting what are you hoping for?'

'well actually a baby would be a good start, but failing that a giraffe, they can run around and feed themselves in a few hours!'

Shuts people up straight away, assuming you don't mind looking completely mental like me!

CumbrianExile · 22/04/2014 12:13

Grin Tea that is a good answer.

Scan went well. Baby was fidgeting a lot, so took a little while to get all measurements, but is doing fine and seems to be in the middle of the growth charts so thats good. Also didnt seem to want its photo taken, so struggled to get a good picture. Feel much more relieved now though. Roll on September so I can meet it in person Smile

polkadotdelight · 22/04/2014 12:48

Right, I have a silly question and I probably won't phrase it very well. Pregnancy is counted as 40 weeks as they count the date from last period, as I understand it, anything from 37 onwards is considered term. I'm 19 weeks tomorrw so when I am 20 weeks does that make me 5 months? Patients at work are starting to ask now and many look a bit blank when I say weeks, also, 5 months explains my fat belly better!

KatharineClover · 22/04/2014 12:57

I think 20-21 weeks is 5 months, 26 weeks is definitely 6 months :)

polkadotdelight · 22/04/2014 13:08

Thank you. I think I can forgive myself, I've been being a bit hard on myself about my weight and my bump size!

Fairypants · 22/04/2014 13:09

I'm struggling with this too polka. The problem is that if we work on the basis of four weeks being a month, we actually have 10 months of pregnancyConfused. I find I count that way at the beginning, get to the middle (I'm there now) where I'm not really sure what to do for a bit then count in months from the end ie my edd is 15th sept so would count 8 months from 15th aug etc. I end up feeling like I'm not making much progress for a while but would rather feel like that in the 2nd trimester when I'm feeling pretty ok than at the end when I'm totally fed up anyway.

polkadotdelight · 22/04/2014 13:20

I don't mind that I will be fed up by the end because I plan to finish work at 36 weeks. Its getting a bit harder at work already so roll on August! My EDD is the 17th so I'm only 2 days behind you.

xxmissbrightsidexx · 22/04/2014 13:50

Hi ladies, haven't been about as spent easter in hospital with my 2yr old. He was upstairs playing with his older brother and uncles and had stuck a small circle battery up his nose which was eroding! Had to go to theatre to get it out. Wasn't impressed cos they were supposed to be playing together and watching him. Poor thing was in so much pain x Got a special cream to apply for 4weeks and he's got a follow up appointment in a few weeks to make sure there's no lasting damage.

Hope you're all okay xx

7 days til my scan, brickin it!!
