Old thread is getting full so here's a nice new one for all our moaning, paranoia and getting each other through it. Can someone do the honers and copy our edd list over? Maybe link the old thread too?

Good morning all! I am not sleeping again tonight, it's 4am & I have been awake since 3:20am. I go to work at 7ish so this is going to be a messy day.
I have officially had 1 good night sleep since ppt. [tired face]
Hello Kitty, congrats on your news, it's all very exciting.

bumpbangbump · 22/02/2014 04:17

Morning excited, me too. I thought about driving to the garage to get some lemonade as I desperately want some. Oh thinks I'm mental.

Got my best friend baby shower, which I'm hosting, tomorrow, followed by a night out with friends. Not as bad as work, but I fear I'll be feeling like crap all day!!!

Puppy if you are in UK I think there are nationwide cloth nappy gatherings (this you might be OK to google). Might help to make your decision.
Trouble your £50 on nappies has inspired me to look into it further, always considered with DD but didn't make the move. Used to think my 3 for 2 x 2 industrial size Boots boxes were good money management, not now! I'm impressed.

ExcitedCJ · 22/02/2014 04:22

Waves to bump, nice to know I'm not alone. My OH is snoring soundly beside me. He is off all day, so at least I will have dinner made after work.
I have sleep cycle app on my phone, so I can prove my lack of sleep when he softly wakes from his grunty, snorey slumber! Wink

ExcitedCJ · 22/02/2014 04:28

Ooh.. I want some lemonade now!

TroubleAndFyfe · 22/02/2014 07:51

Terrible nights sleep here too. I woke in the middle of the night with ridiculous crippling stitch like pain in my chest..presumably not pregnancy related? Added to that I didn't go to sleep until after 12 as we have friends visiting and was up at 7.15 with DS. Not sure that I can go for a nap today with friends staying either - seems a bit rude! Very glad it's dog walking on the beach and some cafe/pub action facing me today though, not work..you have my sympathies Excited. Glad
I've inspired you to look into cloth, if you start preparing early you have time to get freecycling and potentially spend nothing at all. I guess we spent nothing really as the £50 was a voucher. Also, preloved nappies actually perform better than new ones as increase in absorbency with use (like towels) so it's win win! Smile

KittyVonCatsington · 22/02/2014 07:56

Righdone orris I was too hasty joining the bus just yet... Woke up this morning and (TMI alert) with coloured discharge in my knickers, not blood per se, just not CM. took another FRER with FMU in a cup, line was there but definitely more faint than yesterday. So I used one of my CB Digis using the same cup and it flashed Not Pregnant. Still feel terribly nauseous though. Looks like I'm going to be playing the waiting game for a few days. Arrrggghhh!

KittyVonCatsington · 22/02/2014 07:57

That should read, Right, worried I was too hasty... What am I like!!??

CareBearWithFangs · 22/02/2014 08:06

Fx for you kitty.

Seriously considering reusable nappies now. How many loads of washing do they take up in a week? How are they in terms of nappy rash, worse, better or same?

devoncreamtea · 22/02/2014 08:28

kitty try not to worry. You're not bleeding and you still have a positive line. I used those frer tests this time (before period due) and they were faint every time. My old friends the superdrug pg tests (which I also used pre period - obsessed) were always v. dark. I think it's the dye rather than the hcg level, and of course levels and test sensitivity vary a lot - digis are not v. sensitive, so I've read. It is such an emotional time, especially if you have been trying for a while/or it is your first time - try to give yourself a bit of a treat today, take some time for yourself and relax. Chances are, all is well. Let us know how you're doing.

puppy finances are a pain in the bum, don't let it spoil your time now though - remember that it is likely that you will receive some kind of top up in the form of tax credits or child benefit - and that you and mrs will not have some of the little outgoings we tend to forget, like a bottle of wine or a meal out etc, for a while (too tired/pregnant/busy with newborn..!) and perhaps travel costs/petrol will reduce etc. Little savings will be made like that without you even trying! There is a calculator online which can help you work out if you do qualify for tax credits or child benefit etc. Might help?

We used cloth nappies too, but as had 'finished' the family (!!!!) gave them - and absolutely everything else except hand knitted jumpers given by rellies - away!!! This will be one woolly baby.

Bumpforme2014 · 22/02/2014 09:36

Morning all, bad night sleep here also but I blame DH not coming home until 2am when was supposed to be home at midnight!

Feeling much better today :-) no sickness this morning, my cold has now turned into a bad chesty cough - any tips for treating that?

We have told our close friends now which is nice but they all understand it's early days. Cannot wait to tell our families!

Got my scan date through yesterday for 18th march, I'm so pleased, it really cheered me up thinking only have three weeks to go! Haven't got my midwife appointment yet though, is it normal to get scan date first?

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

hudsonriver1 · 22/02/2014 10:18

Bumpforme2014 · 22/02/2014 11:43

Hi sparkle! I will try lemon and honey thank you :-) you are seeing the midwife very early so that's good.

Spotting at your stage can be perfectly normal especially if no cramping but I would see someone next week if doesn't subside.

Your like me, long cycle so GP put me at 8 weeks when actually I know I'm 7 but it's good because it means my scan date has come earlier than 12 weeks so same will happen for you I would imagine.

pebble82 · 22/02/2014 12:32

I'm working at the baby show in london right now and been taking a sneaky peek at cloth nappies. They look great and seem very popular.

Overwhelming how much stuff there is. A lot of it is gimmicky though so it'll be good to have you real life mums to be to talk to about real essentials.

ohthegoats · 22/02/2014 14:38

Well, after the panic inducing GPs visit on Tuesday, my first meeting with a midwife was very reassuring.

Had my booking in appointment today, apparently to get me in the system as high risk for various reasons, so that the referrals to consultants etc can happen in time. Had to go to the hospital for it, so no queuing and waiting in rooms full of small babies, all very calm. Unlike the GP. She wondered why I'd been sent up so soon, and normally they want to do booking in here around 11 or 12 weeks, I'm only 8+4.

Anyway, didn't get all the information since she didn't have it (I'm glad about that - info overload), but did get all the right advice about ongoing cramps and pains (she thinks it's all wind), Harmony testing etc, and have now booked the blood tests at 10+4 and scan at 12+4 at the FMC. She did referrals to the Silver Star unit at the JR (I'm in Oxford), and I feel much better about the whole thing.

Oddly I also feel much better about the chances of things going wrong - as in, still can obviously, but it really is a 'what will be, will be' situation. Actually feel I can sort of forget about everything for 2 weeks until Harmony test scan, and just get on with drinking lots of mint tea and crawling around head down bum up to shift trapped wind. Nice.

Really interested in reusable nappies so thought our council might do a scheme but no such luck :-( Anyone have any recomnendations on brand etc? I know its early but we have v keen grandparents with one lot in SA wanting to buy lots of things. If we could suggest nappies we could get something really useful!

impatienceisavirtue · 22/02/2014 18:25

Tiny bit of brown blood when I wipe, at four weeks - this is ok right!?!?!?

porcito · 22/02/2014 18:36

Love the article! After a panicked, frantic trip to the doctor yesterday after the tiniest amount of spotting, I finally think I'm coming round to the 'what will be will be' stage. I burst wailing into my boss's office, the same into the doctor's office, all for everything to be totally fine.

The internal bleeding that was there before, that through Google I'd managed to convince myself meant almost certain disaster, had totally disappeared, and the baby was just fine, with heart beating normally.

Of course, then I saw the scan picture and started worrying that my fetus was a weird shape compared to everyone else's, despite the fact that they all look like some kind of alien seahorse at this stage. At this point, my OH almost looked into the options for locking me away for the next 7 months, I think...

BingoBango85 · 22/02/2014 18:41

I've got friends who use gnappies. They really rate them. They are disposable but the disposable bit is biodegradable. I think they prob work out more expensive than standard nappies; but much greener

porcito · 22/02/2014 18:46

impatience, my doctor yesterday told me brown was OK, it's implantation bleeding more than likely. Mine just hadn't actually 'shown' that early and was hiding inside until yesterday

binkybunny · 22/02/2014 20:08

Thanks Bingo they look pretty good. Expensive but like the disposable bits for when we're out and about! Looks like they do reusable inserts too which will bring cost and waste down.

ExcitedCJ · 22/02/2014 20:57

Oh dear.. My eyes are bigger than my belly. Pizza & chicken goujons for dinner. Was OK until pizza slice 3! Please someone pass me a bucket..
I don't seem to be able to balance my cravings with eating a sensible amount!
