So sorry Charlie. That was me in July and I know how devastating it is. Fingers crossed that you have a sticky bean soon. Take care of yourself and be kind to yourself. Sending hugs.

Currently sitting in waiting room waiting for my Harmony test. Think I get a scan as well as blood test and I'm just full of scan doom today. Really hope things go ok - DH is at work and I'm sitting shaking silently with fear all on my lonesome Sad

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/02/2014 16:08

I'm so sorry to hear that Charlie. I was there in October. Sending massive hugs your way. Take it easy, if you can.

I had the Verifi test last week, LucidLady. The scan doom beforehand was terrible! The scan was very reassuring, but now the wait to get the results back feels interminable. It's kind of like you just pass from the one thing you're worried about right onto the next, with no intervening period of relief. Maybe I'm just getting good at this pregnancy thing! Wink

topmammy · 10/02/2014 18:07

So sorry to hear your news Charlie Thanks big hugs xx

Ahhh the head asked us today in staff meeting to give him our preferences about moving year groups next year. But I really didn't want to tell him till after my scan next week and I know things are ok for certain. Hmm what would you do?

Lottiedoubtie · 10/02/2014 18:21

I'm not that superstitious so I would probably tell him the truth.

Or else I'd tell him what I would want if I was not pregnant.

KitKat1985 · 10/02/2014 18:41

Hmmm, I'd probably tell him at this stage topmammy so at least he's knows where you're at, and just ask him if he can keep it quiet for a bit until you feel ready to tell everyone. x

topmammy · 10/02/2014 18:42

I think I will just tell him as if I wasn't pregnant yes and then stick to my original plan to tell him after the scan. I'm not superstitious or pessimistic about my scan but I would find it really awful and hard if I had to 'untell' a non-family member I think.

topmammy · 10/02/2014 18:44

His wife is one of the teachers.. not sure if he would really keep it quiet totally because of that. Argh. I wish he hadn't dropped this on me ha Hmm

Lottystar · 10/02/2014 18:52

I hope it went well Lucidlady? Out of interest, what is a Harmony or Verifi? Just a reassurance scan?

broodylicious · 10/02/2014 18:54

I'd just tell him what you'd want if you weren't pregnant. I'm not superstitious but like you say a) would he really keep it secret and b) if you then had to go through the heartache of un telling him. At the end of the day, he's a head teacher and it's his job to sort all staffing so I would never feel bad about delaying your news til you're certain and comfortable.

Desperate for my scan letter to arrive. Due this week according to mw who said it'd be two weeks after my booking appt. hurry up already!!!

Signing in
EDD 17/09/14
Had dizziness every day. Not heard from midwife - how long does it take from telling the GP you're pregnant to hearing from midwife/getting booking appointment through?
Thanks all

broodylicious · 10/02/2014 19:40

Welcome callieg Smile Mw like to see ladies between 8-12 weeks so I'd reckon you'd be due your appt anytime now? My dizziness stopped after five or so weeks, it was horrid, hope you're managing ok x

[Sad] have a uti, just back from the doctor who gave me antibiotics

Kittyrose1 · 10/02/2014 21:05

Charlie I'm so sorry to hear your news today, keep positive for the future which you seem to be xx

Goodness you really can't take it for granted can you?

Topmammy I would tell your head what you think as if you weren't pg and then once you've had your scan etc you can tell him the news, still plenty of time for them to sort things out.

Missingcaffeinei get that weird shivery cold thing too, I feel the cold a lot anyway but this is much more so than usual. Having to wear extra socks and have a blanket over me when on the sofa! Haha what a pair we are.

In other news I was just sick in mouth from a burp - how attractive am i! Evenings are crappy at the moment!

Fairypants · 10/02/2014 21:20

I'm so sorry to hear your news Charlie. I wish you a speedy sticky bean.

Top, I'd probably tell him your easy on year groups (if you get the one everyone wants you'd probably feel bad) but not tell yet.

We were away for the weekend with dhs friends and their wives (most of whom i dont know) with black tie dinner so had great fun hiding the non drinking. Lots of fake sipping and casual swapping of glasses with DH and even dd1. We were on the home straight (had managed to finish a bottle with some topping up of a lady on our table) when said lady decided to buy a bottle of champagne for herself, me and one other lady to share! DH took it like a man despite normally not drinking much I'm very proud of our familial duplicityGrin

Ms is still going strong here but is at least only in the morning. I have to wait another 4 weeks til 12 week scan and currently trying to convince myself that we'd pay £70 for a posh meal to cheer me up...why not spend it on a scan at 10 weeksWink

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/02/2014 21:56

LottyStar Harmony and Verifi are different brands of the noninvasive prenatal blood tests that you can have privately to test for trisomys, specifically Down, Edwards and Patau's syndromes. They're more accurate than the combined test (less likely to have a false positive) but less accurate than CVS or amnio. No increased risk of miscarriage, though. There's a lengthy thread about Harmony in the antenatal test section. I'm am oldie, so I was likely to be a high risk combined result, and then didn't want to agonise over amnio, so splashed out on a better test instead of a holiday.

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/02/2014 21:58

Forgot to say you have to get a dating scan beforehand to ensure you're at 10 weeks. I hope it went well LucidLady?

cookielove · 11/02/2014 08:40

I'm worried. My symptoms seem to be dissappearing, and the doc said I can't have an early scan even though the midwives said I could so I'm going private instead. Although I was asleep by 8.30 last night.

On the plus side the doc is pushing my paperwork through early in the hopes they will give me a scan earlier. But I don't think it is likely.

My cold is just a cold, no chest infection which is good.

Sorry charlie to hear your sad news!

rockin20s · 11/02/2014 09:31

my symptoms are coming and going, my main symptom was constipation for the last month but that has righted itself over the weekend. try not to read into it too much.

many people have symptoms on and off over the first trimester.

KatharineClover · 11/02/2014 09:46

My symptoms have eased off too over the last couple of days - ms comes in waves rather than continuous. I'm 9+1 so trying to keep positive that they are easing because the placenta is building, but I can't help but worry. Still waiting for a 12 wk scan date but it should be around the first week in March.

cenadi · 11/02/2014 10:12

Hi everyone, I've been a bit silent as been feeling so rotten! Currently flopped on sofa in fleecy blanket, second day off work and absolutely no energy or brainpower. MS has abated a little in the past week but still rears its ugly head first thing in the morning! Anyone else feeling totally useless at the moment? I feel like if I can't even get on with my normal day, how on earth will I manage with a baby?!

EDD is currently 10 Sep (slightly revised at booking appt last week) and my scan is on 3 March. Have to see consultant next week though as DH has congenital heart condition so (only very) slightly heightened risk for our baby.

Hoping I'm feeling much better and starting to glow before we head on our delayed honeymoon in April (booked before we knew of pregnancy...!)

lucidlady · 11/02/2014 10:31

Hi everyone, hope we're all ok today?

Yesterday's appointment went really well thanks iatesome - scan measured bean at bang on 10 weeks which was lucky - they'd have sent me away otherwise! It was amazing to see the difference in bean in less than a week (I'd had a scan last Tuesday due to more bleeding)! Bean has arms and feet and was wriggling away!

Back in 2 weeks for the results, fingers crossed everything is still ok.

lotty you were asking what the Harmony test is, iatesome explained it really well and here's a link that tells you a bit more about it: www.fetalmedicine.com/fmc/03-harmony-test/

I'm also a bit of an oldie so want this additional screening so I have something other than the NHS NT test, which will likely give me quite poor odds as a result of my age.

lucidlady · 11/02/2014 10:34

Forgot to say - at midwife today for my booking in appt. will update later!

Hope everyone is ok today Smile

Daytona79 · 11/02/2014 10:39

Can I ask a question

First pregnancy so zero clue what's normal

Since the week before I found out so now about 3.5 weeks my belly is always sore

Kinda a mix of period cramps, feeling you get when you maybe have a upset tummy , to a bloated feeling

I constantly feel niggles in my belly

Is this normal..??????

I've had no bleeding and did get a internal scan at 5.5 weeks and they seen a blob with a flicker said it was a heart beat
The reason being I had more pain to right side so they were checking for ectopic , but baby was where it should be

But they found a 4cm cyst on right ovary but told me not to worry it was common and would go away on its own.

Lottystar · 11/02/2014 10:44

Thanks iatesomeofthepies, I didn't realise you could get those tests privately. Maybe worth looking into if they are more accurate.

My sympathy goes out to those of you still bad with ms. I'm not having a great day with nausea but the constipation is just making me feel rotten and bloated Hmm

rockin20s · 11/02/2014 10:47

i have had period like cramps since about 2 days before my period was due, i was convinced i was having a early MS as i had tested positive 4 days before my period was due

i have found the cramps have gotten less and less, i think its just your uterus growing. the hormone relaxin is also working away loosening all the muscles that connect your uterus to everything else.

i have what i have been calling 'sneeze pains' due to the round ligament muscles loosening. i get a stabbing pain at both hips and inwards when i sneeze of cough. thankfully that too is easing off
