I'm struggling to find any maternity wear in store too, I'm a bit funny with sizes so didn't really want to order off the internet in case I ordered wrong size then have to faff about sending one size back to try another size. I'm going to have to though because shops just don't seem to stock them. I did however find some fab leggings with a huge high waistline (big enough to pull over bump when I look like a whale) in river island. Only £10 a pair and really comfy. I'm really pleased with them.

I look and feel like the size of a house. I'm so depressed about the weight I've put on so far. I've only put on 4lb since Christmas but that 4lb looks more like a stone, I kid you not. My normal clothes don't fit me, and I can't even blame a bump because they are equally tight on my legs etc. I'm actually so pleased we are going to be 'heavily' pregnant during summer so I can wear maxi dresses - they always make me look slimmer than big wintry layers!!!

So nasty SIL text my DH yesterday to ask if we wanted to stay at their house next weekend. We don't live close by and we regularly stay at each other's houses so DH and I get to spend time with our 2 nieces. Thought it odd she would text him as oppose to me...wondering if she knows I've been upset???

How is everyone doing this weekend? I'm not feeling remotely pregnant which I think is why I'm scouring websites for maternity clothes to make me feel better

BexBoo12 · 22/02/2014 10:05

Topmammy bump bands look fab. All my friends who have recently had babies highly recommend. If supports bump - as bump gets bigger you get pains - bit like the pains we've all had from our insides stretching out. Quite uncomfortable apparently. However, these bands really help with that. Also, if your top rides up when you stretch or whatever, it stops belly going on show which is a huge positive for me!!! I will be ordering several of those come payday on Wednesday. Hope that helps xx

topmammy · 22/02/2014 10:16

Thanks Bex, I will order a bump band too, if any website lets me, ha.
I'm really looking forward to summer too so I can wear dresses without feeling self conscious about my belly and trying to suck it in like I normally do!

I don't even dare weigh myself now, not brave enough! I just feel generally podgyier. Bring on the stretchy leggings!! I think I will be living in those soon.

BexBoo12 · 22/02/2014 10:34

Yep roll on the maxi dresses woop. I boughtmy leggings on Thursday and already they are my best friend. I bought 3 pairs and thinking I should have bought a pair for each day lol

whiteblossom · 22/02/2014 11:03

morning ladies, I did dare weigh myself and was expecting at least a four pound gain but I haven't gained anything but I feel huge (11+6). None of my jeans do up. I have been using a bump band and I have to say I hate it! Its man made fibres make me feel hot and suffocated. I just want to wear dresses all the time but Ive only got one that works at the moment. Once Ive had the scan Im going shopping.

Im dreading the summer heat. I really don't fancy wearing less while I feel like a whale. I suspect Ill be living in maxi skirts and tops. Linen trousers and Im going to make a couple of kimono tops to pop over a vest top. On the plus side I can wear flats all summer. But I will be buying a huge fan for at home!

bex your sil is avoiding you because she knows has been a class A cow-I suspect nice sil has had a word or at least it has filtered back to her?? Will you go to her house after everything?

BexBoo12 · 22/02/2014 12:09

Hmm whiteblossom I'm not sure I will get out of it. She cleverly got my eldest niece (5) to FaceTime both me and DH this morning telling us how excited she is for us to have a sleepover. If I do go though, it will be after scan so I know that nice BIL will want to talk about it, and I know that I will not based on SIL previous reaction which will then in turn raise her eyebrows. I kind of hope I get to fight it out with her.

topmammy · 22/02/2014 13:40

It might be good to clear the air once and for all with your nasty SIL, Bex. Although if it gets tense it might be rather uncomfortable if you're staying at their house..?

I've just been reading the mumsnet pages about the stages of labour and I've been absolutely creased up laughing!! Am I in denial? I think i must be! Hahaha.

BexBoo12 · 22/02/2014 14:37

Where are these threads about birth?! I want to have a read and have a mini freak out lol.

hmm think I will just play it by ear about next weekend

whiteblossom · 22/02/2014 14:55

bex oh bex I could say so much but I sound like a right bitch lol. I cant stand bitter twisted jealous people who take their issues out on you. Let us know how you get on and by all means tell her straight.

(though you could have details of a local counsellor and say " I noticed how upset and defensive you were when we told you I was pregnant, so here are the details of someone you can talk to....so you can take out your issues with her instead of me next time")

BexBoo12 · 22/02/2014 15:15

Hahaha whiteblossom that made me giggle so much, can you imagine her face if I presented her with a business card for a counsellor. I may do that anyway just for effect. DH today seems to have gotten very cross about it again, and took me out shopping to cheer me up. I did not however tell him that I'm actually reasonably ok about after chatting on here to you all, but instead just nodded along as he bought me new clothes and shoes lol Wink

broodylicious · 22/02/2014 16:34

Lol, topmammy not bad to be in denial about birth now, I wouldn't worry about that just yet!! What are the threads saying? People's reactions/experiences or info from health folk? Nct did a great info graphic that showed where our uterus grows to/where it is at particular intervals of the pregnancy - really strange but cool.

bex that's not a bad suggestion by whiteblossom re the counsellor for your nasty SIL. Would love to be a fly on the wall for that moment. If only you could get £250 for that You've Been Framed moment Wink

Hello all, all I want to do is sleep.

Glad all is well for every one!

TheOnlySeven · 22/02/2014 17:12

cookie I was doing well on the exhaustion front, now I have a cold and I'm sooo tired.

bex I don't know what happened with your SIL but I take it she didn't take news of your pregnancy well? Is there any reason other than that she's spiteful and bitter? I'm horribly stubborn but FWIW I wouldn't let it go that easily.

Is there a stats thread or does anyone mind if I start one? It's like the firs day at a new school when you don't know who anyone is!

BexBoo12 · 22/02/2014 17:33

Theonlyseven my whole sorry story is on here if you scroll down to Fridays posts - it's a big long essay lol.

The more I think about it the more I want to go, gluten for punishment or what? I just feel it would give me a chance to tell her how I feel. The fact the kids will be there will stop me getting too angry and saying something that I may regret - If I do end up arguing and saying something nasty, that almost makes me as bad as her in a way, so maybe this is safest way?! I may also take my counsellors business card as a back up!! (I had counsellor a few years back for grief but she does all kind of counselling - just in case you're thinking I'm a nut job like SIL!!!)

TheOnlySeven · 22/02/2014 17:58

Oh my god bex, I can't believe she actually said having children ruined her life, she sounds vile. And as for lying about other SIL, well at least she knows what horrible lies nasty SIL and MIL have been saying now. How close is DH to his brother? I'd maybe make one attempt to clear the air but if there's no improvement I'd think about distancing myself from them tbh. Life is too short to spend it with toxic people who make you miserable.

BexBoo12 · 22/02/2014 18:09

The sad thing is theonlyseven is that as a foursome we are really close. Or were should I say. We used to go down at least one weekend a month, or they would come to us. I'm godmother to their second girl, and I adore the kids. We are all really really close. Girls were my flower girls and BIL was DH's best man at our intimate wedding of only 8 guests so that really speaks volumes of how close we are/were. I'm going to try and clear the air and if that doesn't work, unfortunately I will be practically cutting them out. I will of course be pleasant and see them at family functions etc but as for spending weekends together etc that will be stopped I'm afraid x

TheOnlySeven · 22/02/2014 18:16

I guess I would perhaps make it clear that you would love them to be a part of the baby's life if and when they decide they can be happy for you. At least then you've left it open and it's up to them.

topmammy · 22/02/2014 18:50

It wasn't a thread about birth I read (though I haven't seen any of these either) it's just the advice page/ what to expect in labour you can get to from the mumsnet homepage. Don't know why it makes me laugh so much as some of it isn't really funny! The bit about you should push like you're having an, I quote, ' enormous poo' is just hilarious though haha. Or maybe I have a dodgy sense of humour! Blush I think I'm a bit desensitised to birth talk in a way as it's always a topic of conversation everytime I see my mum who is a midwife.

Bex, I think whatever you do/say to your nasty SIL just remain on the moral high ground, as it will make you feel good and make her realise what a bitch she has been if she actually has empathy and such like :)

cookielove · 22/02/2014 19:00

theonlyseven I've had a cold for almost two months, not only do I want to sleep all the time but my body feels exhausted when doing the slightest thing. Work is a nightmare every time I sit down all I wanna do is sleep. So I feel your pain!!

Oh and I am still waiting for my booking in I'm 9+2.

topmammy · 22/02/2014 19:30

TheOnlySeven There is a stats thread for due dates kicking around. It's very very long! :) That reminds me I need to change my EDD to 26th August. (I am so determined to have a September baby though so I am staying here!). Really difficult to copy&paste on my kindle fire though so I haven't done it yet.

TheOnlySeven · 22/02/2014 20:41

Thanks topmammy I'll have a look for it. There is a childbirth talk section, I think it's in the Becoming A Parent section. I know it's funny but that really is what it feels like. You don't need to be told how to push though, when the time comes your body just knows what to do.

TheOnlySeven · 22/02/2014 20:43

I'm really jealous that your mum is a midwife btw, she'll actually be able to give you relevant up to date advice rather than the advice from 30 years ago!

topmammy · 22/02/2014 21:23

Haha, she is rather handy I must admit Grin. We were talking about episiotomies/ tearing today (my biggest fear tbh) and she was pondering how she'd feel about sewing me up herself as she is really skilled at them. Not your usual conversation with your mother lol. We're just hoping she is not actually at work when I'm in labour as I'm booked to go on her ward, could be interesting!

Did you know we do have resident midwife waffles on here too? Grin

TheOnlySeven · 22/02/2014 21:32

Would she be allowed to be your MW if she was on duty? That would be a lovely story to tell your baby when it's older though. One of my friends is a paramedic, she delivered her sisters baby. It was at the side of the main road on the way to the hospital though so not quite a lovely ideal birth experience!

topmammy · 22/02/2014 21:45

Oh my gosh how traumatic! But amazing too.

I'm not sure actually if she would be allowed to be my midwife if she was on duty. We both don't want that anyway, too much pressure for her and I just want her there as my mum. I think she mentioned it to one of her coordinators and she said you'll just have to hope someone will swop shifts with you! Pah! She has booked off the second and third week in September though so this baby better be overdue haha!
