Thanks girls. I know you're right. Of course! I've been chasing the scan for a few days - had my booking appt bang on 8weeks, mw told me I'd get the letter of scan appt within 2 weeks for sure but nothing. I rang the hospital thurs and fri - both times they've said they've not got an appt booked as yet but my file is probably awaiting action as they're mega busy. I have to call again on mon and if still nothing, they've said they'll have to manually search through all the files they've got and make it for me. The lady was lovely and said there's still time to get me an appt for week 13 so fx she wasn't just being very kind!

That's a relief Broody, sounds like it's all in hand but frustrating nonetheless. Yes, I think once you've got the date it'll give you a goal to work towards.
Just updating stats now. I thought seeing as I'd had my proper EDD through then it only seemed right...

HOORAY it's half term. Just slept in till gone 9 and it was lovely!! (Apart from needing a wee at 3am then not being able to get to sleep till after 4am).

Does anyone else have trouble swallowing the big pregnancy vitamin tablets? I actually wretched and was almost sick last night trying to take it lol. When I feel nauseous I just can't take them as my gag reflex kicks in. Luckily I've got some folic acid tablets that are tiny so still managed to get that down.

Think it was kt saying about not having had a scan yet. I haven't either and I'm 12+2. Got mine on Wednesday, so excited/nervous.

ohthegoats · 15/02/2014 10:18

Topmammy, are you a teacher? How are you excusing your time off for scans? I'm assuming I won't get any choice over timing or day, but really don't want to tell work until afterwards. Small school, we share all personal info.

ohthegoats · 15/02/2014 10:19

Sorry for crashing the September thread, my edd varies between end September/beginning October, so til now have been on October.

topmammy · 15/02/2014 11:16

Hi goats welcome to the Sept thread! Smile Yes I'm a teacher. Luckily so far my first appt with doc was in the Xmas hols, my booking appt was on a Saturday and my scan is in half term so I've not had to ask for any time off. Totally understand how you feel though, mine is a small school too so would be been tricky asking head for time off without explaining why. I would just say it's a medical appt that you really need to attend and leave it at that. That was my plan anyway if I'd needed to have time off.

IAteSomeofthePies · 15/02/2014 11:19

Welcome, Bold and Ohthegoats!

Broody it sounds like you'll at least have a scan date soon, so reassurance will be on the way. I'm sure all these sensible women are totally correct, and it's nothing to worry about. But that's so much easier said than done!

Yay for a good scan, Waybuloony!

I hope the dizziness and sickness pass soon, everyone.

I had a good 12 week scan yesterday, so got to tell my parents last night. So exciting! It felt like this day would never come.

IAteSomeofthePies · 15/02/2014 11:30

I forgot to say, updated EDD of 29th August. But it's my first so September seems more likely?

KitKat1985 · 15/02/2014 11:40

Hello 'Ohthegoats'! Welcome to the September board.

Broody I wouldn't worry too much, my symptoms have eased off a bit as well. They are still there, but I haven't fallen asleep on the sofa in the daytime this week and the nausea isn't as horrendous - I find eating regularly helps. According to pregnancy book average weight gain in first trimester is supposed to be 2-4 pounds. Found out yesterday I'd already put on 3 pounds and I'm only 9 weeks! Am going to look like a big pregnant hippo at this rate. Sad However, having said my symptoms have eased off I've had a blissful week off work this week and I think it's made a big difference as I've been able to sleep in every morning and eat when I need to. The 'test' is going to be how I feel next week I think. Not looking forward to my 5.30am alarm on Monday.

Also if it helps, by manager who has 4 kids said she felt better with her subsequent pregnancies than she did with her first - her theory is that your body isn't as much in shock 2nd, 3rd, etc, time around, and her symptoms weren't as bad.

The one thing that does still make me feel nauseous is my pregnancare multivitamins, so I'm with you there Topmummy though I find having them on a full stomach is helping. Am trying to persevere with them as midwife said a good pregnancy multivitamin really does help with preventing anaemia etc, and being a veggie I know I'm at a higher risk for this than most. However they really do make me gag. Both times I've actually been sick so far was after taking one of them. Ugh.

Hope you enjoyed telling the parents Iatesomeoftheipies. I bet they were thrilled. Smile

LH1981 · 15/02/2014 11:48

I agree all pregnancies are different so try not to worry. My first two were pretty uneventful, barely any symptoms at all. This time I'm sick as a dog. Although I think I may have turned a corner at 9 weeks as the nausea does seem to be less severe than it was.

xxmissbrightsidexx · 15/02/2014 12:05

This is my 3rd and I feel absolutely shocking this time round, my last 2 pregnancies were a breeze with no ms etc. Xx

xxmissbrightsidexx · 15/02/2014 12:21

The one thing I'm dreading returning though is SPD.. that is bloody painful xx

OneInAMinion · 15/02/2014 13:37

Hi all, I'm 8 weeks and 1 day into my first pregnancy after nearly 2 years of ttc and just a few months before my IVF app, so I'm over the moon. EDD = 26 Sept 14 Smile

I haven't had any symptoms at all yet which might be a good thing, but it's made me feel a bit anxious about whether everything's okay. I have my first midwife app on Tuesday and have absolutely no idea what to expect.

Looking forward to being surrounded by other happy expectant moms after a long time on infertility threads.

topmammy · 15/02/2014 13:59

This probably belongs on that other board on MN but am I being unreasonable getting SUPER Pissed off at my DH for watching a south park episode where people are randomly vomitting loads Angry ?!

broodylicious · 15/02/2014 15:05

missb SPD. Bloody agony. I do not want that again. Ever.

OP posts:
BexBoo12 · 15/02/2014 15:53

I am also struggling to take my vitamins Hmm I'm ashamed to say I've skipped a day here and there because I just simply couldn't swallow it after several attempts. Good idea though about having a stash of small folic acid tablets just to ensure I'm getting something. I feel terrible that I've missed a couple of odd days and DH doesn't half kick off when I can't take them Hmm

Missingcaffeine · 15/02/2014 16:11

Lots of people I know were lucky enough not to get any symptoms in pregnancy and and others report that each pregnancy is very different - some with no symptoms, some with loads, and not necessarily with any order or explanation. Reading these posts makes you realise how different we all are in our experiences. I just think it's normal for most pregnant ladies to worry!

topmammyI would feel the same about an episode of south park and vomitting! I also struggle with the vitamins and sometimes can't face the big ones so take just the little folic acid ones I bought as well.

Congratulations Oneinamillion that's wonderful news.

I am 8 weeks today (due 27th Sep) and haven't had a scan yet. This has been my toughest week so far in terms of nausea, dizziness, tiredness and headaches. I think the hormones surge in little waves, and when they do, I get a day of really bad headaches, tiredness and dizziness (the nausea seems to always be a constant). That's my own little theory I've developed! I haven't got my booking appointment yet or scan date. I'm eating only very simple foods like white bread and chicken and rice.

whiteblossom - my GP told me that as progesterone rises (to allow smooth muscle of uterus to stretch), it also relaxes the smooth muscle of the blood vessels which then causes low blood pressure and therefore dizziness. The body is also trying to increase the blood volume to fill these relaxed blood vessels, but this takes most of the first trimester to happen, hence dizziness in the first trimester. Drinking loads of fluids helps.

waybullony glad all good with your scan - sounds like a lovely experience.

Broody I read somewhere that sickness and symptoms tend to peak at 9 weeks. I'm hoping mine start easing soon.

kk I'm drinking fruit juice watered down at the moment. Today I had fresh cranberry juice diluted with water. I've gone off tea, coffee and even my favourite orange squash.

My boobs are so uncomfortable at night, I bought myself some pyjamas with boob support in them, which has really helped. I never normally wear pyjamas but I love these. I'd highly recommend to anyone in the same position.

broodylicious · 15/02/2014 17:40

Wow caffeine mammoth post!! Thanks for your words re symptoms tending to subside round about now. Let's hope it's that. I am still completely blubbering over everything - our Olympic medallist has had me in tears this afternoon, damn national anthem too! - so I'm thinking that's an ok sign Wink

marie1w · 15/02/2014 19:33

Got some anti sickness bands this morning. Would recommend highly. Just managed to eat and enjoy a Nando's. Bloody lovely!

topmammy · 15/02/2014 21:50

Might have to look into those anti sickness bands myself. I'm over 12 weeks but I feel like my nausea is getting worse not better! ha! Hmm Needed a nap this afternoon too. Where are you second trimester?!

TwosaCrowd · 15/02/2014 23:14

I'm 10+2 and not got my booking in apmt until Monday when she'll refer me for the 12 week scan so no idea how long it'll take to come through!

rockin20s · 15/02/2014 23:49

Went out for dinner tonight and then met up with some of dh friends. I just wasn't in the mood. The food was Shit, the pub they choose was noisy and crowded. I just wanted to be in bed, lasted till 11 and left dh in town and came home.

I think the tiredness is catching up with me

broodylicious · 16/02/2014 06:53

topmammy the bands worked for me, don't know why I didn't get any last time around! eBay has some - I paid £1.79 for mine, compared to £8 from boots!

OP posts:
CumbrianExile · 16/02/2014 08:30

Marie - I have been able to eat Nandos through out. And KFC and MacDonalds. Its the healthy home cooked meals that I struggle with. Not sure why, they are much nicer!
