toby I also put frozen spinach in everything. Haven't tried any of the other frozen veg yet though. I've tried the garlic and chilli in a jar but found them very vinegary

Dh is out tonight wed and thurs so prop will just live off cereal!

Felix90 · 18/02/2014 14:20

Has anyone got a bumbo seat? Sylvie only seems happy when she's sat upright but I don't know if she's a bit young for it. She's 8 weeks and has been able to hold her head and neck steady for ages. I just sat her in it and she smiled straight away but I took her out as I didn't want to do any damage just in case she's too small!

Felix90 · 18/02/2014 14:21

Toby I LOVE sausage plait. DP had never had one until just before Christmas Shock

enormouse · 18/02/2014 14:22

I've just bought a second hand bundleme sheepskin liner off ebay. Frankly, I'm willing to try anything that DS1 can't kick off and trap under the pram.

felix I hope you can get some resolution from the gp for Sylvie. Poor thing.

I am feeling the rage today. Cal will not sleep, DS1 won't use his cutlery - (a 2 year old eating beans on toast with his fingers is unpleasant), DP for making beans on toast in the first place as DS1 is producing some horrendous gas and I am waiting on mothercare to contact me re my new pram and they are being arseholes. I have been shaming them on Twitter and its had some effect. The old pram I bought from them is completely kaput now and I'm effectively stuck indoors without a new one.

But as positive, frozen spinach is fantastic!

TobyLerone · 18/02/2014 14:26

I don't think Bumbos are meant to be used until 4 months-ish. What about one of those blow-up play ring things? Or lots of pillows?

I'd never made sausage plait until last night. I just had stuff to use up. I cooked some onions and spinach, mixed them in with raw sausagemeat, laid the mixture on puff pastry, made up some stuffing and laid it on top, then plaited the pastry on top. Don't know if I did it right, but it was gorgeous! I've just eaten the last bit cold for lunch :)

enormouse · 18/02/2014 14:27

Yep felix I have one. I think it's fantastic but it's a bit of a marmite product.

Felix90 · 18/02/2014 14:46

I've read some things that say 4 months then some that say when they can hold their head steady so I'm not sure. I'm struggling to prop her up properly with pillows as she just topples over haha. I have a breastfeeding pillow which she can sit in the middle of but she's not upright enough for her liking!

She just did 5 MASSIVE farts. Like the biggest ones I've ever heard her do! She seems happy now!

Felix90 · 18/02/2014 14:56

I've posted a thread asking when people started using them. I'll probably wait a few weeks just in case. Hopefully I won't get a flaming haha

BookTart · 18/02/2014 15:23

So, the GP says that Persephone is fine and is just playing me up because she can. She suggested colief if the night times get worse though. I put the baby down on the couch and she just kicked her legs and gurgled cutely at the doctor [shame].

Glad Sylvie has perked up a bit felix

MrsVDB · 18/02/2014 15:37

Midwife has just been and we were finally discharged as he's back up to birth weight at 15 days. Had to change his nappy twice within 5 minutes though and he pooed all over the mat too. When hv came on Friday he puked all over me as soon as I opened the door and last midwife visit he weed all over me. Think he's fed up of medical visits!!

Pidgy · 18/02/2014 15:47

Toby and book I think you're right. I need to let it go. He told me he feels terrible (so he should) and that he panicked which was why he lied. He also said nothing I say can make him feel any worse. Think I need to cut him some slack. We are both knackered and he's been great for everything else.

Frozen onions?! Fab idea. Going to order some when I finally get around to my online shop. I use loads of onions and always seem to run out. Might try the frozen peppers too!

Oh and Lara (the limpet) passed her hearing test today. Good times and a relief!!

felix hope she's more settled tonight for you. If you need to wash the lamb skin liner google tips. I think you need to add glycerine or something to make it go soft again.
Someone told me this tip but can't fully remember it!

enourmouse laughing at your DP dinner 3 days in a row! :-)

book you need to get the tongue tie sorted. It's your body that is getting damaged. Not his.

Pidgy · 18/02/2014 15:50

Posted too soon.

DS never got on with the bumbo. He was too slouched in it so it always made him sick bit he was a very sicky greedy baby. Then his legs got too fat so felt like I was wedging him in!

Naturegirl82 · 18/02/2014 17:45

sorry you had a scare pidgy hope lara is ok

Grr just sat down to fill in my child benefit form from the bounty pack and ours contains two sets of guidance notes and no form. Going to have to print it off now which is annoying.

Met with Olivia's consultant today so he could explain what treatment they are currently planning for her kidney which was helpful, but he said it looked like she has a squint. He says a lot of newborn's have them in the early weeks so isn't worried yet. Hoping it sorts itself out.

Dh and I have been together 10 years today. Going out for dinner to celebrate Smile

flyawayblue · 18/02/2014 19:48

Pidgy sorry you had the scare and glad she is okay now.

Nature have a lovely anniversary.

Had Alice's tongue tie cut today, they said it was 80% and she also has a tie on her top lip so quite sever. She really didn't like it though and was so upset it took her ages to feed. Still seems sore this evening as she keeps really crying, makes me feel good horrible and I can't do anything about it.

Sunshineseeker80 · 18/02/2014 20:08

fly hope Alice feels better soon. Have you given her teething gel on it? Helped Emily a bit as she was too young for calpol. She was a bit grizzly the first evening but much better after the first day. Hopefully will make a difference to feeding for you.

My fecking feeding saga continues... For those of you on antibiotics and BFing what did they give you? Got swab results back and have slight strep infection. As have had topical thrush treatment since last week and still have open wound on one side they want me to take antibiotics, and have prescribed Eythromycin. Nurse said they might cause loose stools in baby so I should top up with formula. I said no I wanted ones that were compatable with BFing so she went off to check with Dr and came back saying they were ok but just to monitor loose stools. Since starting thrush treatment Emily had been pooping after each feed so worried she won't be able to handle the antibiotics. Not sure what to do?? Dr Google says is ok but proceed with caution. Should I start and stop if Emily gets sick?

flyawayblue · 18/02/2014 21:30

Just tried some sunshine as only had adult stiff in the house but one says baby friendly.

For the antibiotics I'd probably them and watch. I was on codine and was told it may make Alice sleepy but safe for use. It's up to you, though is there anyone else you can talk too to explain the possible side effects?

Ahh, teething gel hasn't helped, had screaming with every try at sucking.

enormouse · 18/02/2014 22:40

Argh I am such a crap mum.

I was in bed with Cal asleep in his crib next to me and I felt a spider crawl over my arm. Being madly phobic, I screamed and ran to get DP. Yes, I abandoned my poor, tiny PSB to the spider like a fool. I feel awful now.

Dp killed it removed it but now I feel twitchy and on edge. But I am armed at least with one of DPs giant red Dr martens to club any bugs to death.

MrsVDB · 18/02/2014 23:00

enornouse don't worry I've done worse tonight... Henry cried pretty much solidly since 8.30pm so when I popped into kitchen to wash up etc I just ignored him when he was crying in Moses basket in living room. Came in about 5 mins later and he'd puked all over himself and all out if his nose and was just led in it :( poor thing

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/02/2014 00:38

nature congrats! Hope you have a lovely night.

enormouse perfectly natural. Spiders are the work of satan, you had no choice. Plus Cal prob didn't notice, or if he did, was intrigued like a cat

mrsV sometimes you have to get stuff done. I do the same.

fly hope Alice feels better soon.

fryingpantoface · 19/02/2014 07:50

Don't feel bad about the spider enormouse or MrsV.

MrsV Henry has to cry for but before i get to him if I'm stopping ds1 from climbing bookcases or something. It doesn't harm him and he settles quickly when i get him. I do remember the overwhelming guilt when i ignores ds1s cry and it turns out he'd thrown up in the night. It's just one of those things

Angelesque · 19/02/2014 08:48

Morning!

Finn has his newborn photoshoot this afternoon. He's pooing a lot at the moment and I'm convinced he's going to poo all over the photographer's lovely props. She must be used to that though if she specialises in baby photography...? Hopefully it will be fun... If I can just time his feeds right!

Nature hope you had a lovely anniversary dinner! And good reminder on the child benefit form... We missed the Bounty lady in hospital so must remember to download the form!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/02/2014 09:50

angel apparently they use a rain stick to calm babies. Works like a charm, I'm told, a friend recommended buying one to soothe Alex. Don't worry!

MrsVDB · 19/02/2014 09:56

So I think dh is leaving me :( he's been unhappy for a couple of months but doesn't know why. Sorry to write it on here but can't bring myself to tell anyone in rl. Don't know what we'll do about house etc :(

Sunshineseeker80 · 19/02/2014 10:11

mrsv am running out the house at the moment but didn't want to go before giving you some big hugs. It's a tough time with a newborn and has definitely put strain on our relationship so remember there are lots of us here going through similar ups and downs if you need to talk. Hope you are ok and looking after yourself today xxx

flyawayblue · 19/02/2014 10:41

Mrsvdb it's a very hard time with a newborn and pregnancy, equally for fathers as they can feel quite detached from it all and that's depressing. Are you able to talk to each other, get someone to watch dc while sleeping to give you time alone even if short. Sorry can't remember if you are ff or bf.

And talk about it on here, we're here to listen and offer support, even un mumsnet hugs.
