OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If it helps, Henry is at the clingy will not be put down stage. There's a growth spurt at 8 weeks ish lasting up to two weeks. Not fun!

i took Henry to get his bcg jab today. We had to go to the postnatal ward. Seeing all the newborns made me all teary, but I'm glad we could go straight home from the delivery suite as it was noisy!

Felix90 · 05/03/2014 20:07

Puggle it's getting worse for us all of a sudden since Sylvie turned 10 weeks. She will cry and cry over the past few days and we can't work out why. We've tried her on Colief, she's on the gaviscon and lactulose for constipation and I've ran out of ideas now. Considering getting a stretchy wrap for round the house like everyone else has as I can't get anything done. You're not letting him down! You're doing everything you can, and it's not you that's causing him to cry. I'm sure it will all get better eventually, we all just have to battle through.

Heard from my sister. Nieces operation was a success and they just have to play the waiting game to see if it will heal. I'm so relieved, we have been so worried all day. Poor little sod Sad

Swannykazoo · 05/03/2014 20:14

It does help - thanks all of you.

Pidgy · 06/03/2014 03:00

puggle Lara seems to be getting worse too! She is 7 weeks. She seems exhausted all the time but often won't sleep for longer than 30 mins unless in the moby wrap or her snowsuit in the pram. If I wasn't so tired I'd be out walking.

She did just sleep for 6 hours straight tho which is a record! I had 5 hours unbroken sleep which is also a record. Must be all that screaming from 5 onwards!!

Just have to keep telling ourselves it will get easier.

Great news felix.

Angelesque · 06/03/2014 03:09

felix great news - fingers crossed

MrsVDB · 06/03/2014 04:56

6 hours pidgy that's brill! We're still 3/4 hours at a time but I'm not feeling too bad. Think I'm pretty lucky

Sorry to hear about your niece felix must have been awful for your sister. Glad the op went ok

Has Henry weighed yesterday. At 4 weeks he's 12lb and has put on 1.5lb in 2 weeks even though he's still not drinking as much as he should. Chunk

TobyLerone · 06/03/2014 08:28

Bloody hell, MrsV. 12lbs?! I'm dreading Meredith getting that big. My back won't cope. I'm already suffering with sciatica. You must have guns of steel :o
I'm grateful that Meredith is such a tiny bastard delicate little flower (9 1/2lbs at 8 weeks).

fryingpantoface · 06/03/2014 08:40

I'm taking Henry to get weighed today. Last week he was 8lb8 at 7 weeks, i think he's put on more weight.

MrsVDB · 06/03/2014 09:18

Yeah I do feel I've missed out on the newborn stage especially as he has a full head of hair! At the clinic yesterday the lady next to me asked how many months he was... Erm 1! Her son was 9m and Henry wasn't much smaller and had much more hair. Yeah I'm starting to get very achey from lugging him around but I'm hoping ifll get rid of my bingo wings!

TobyLerone · 06/03/2014 09:21

Oh, I bet he's gorgeous! Meredith has loads of hair too. And not only on her head! She has sideburns, furry ears and hairy shoulders :o

MrsVDB · 06/03/2014 09:34

Ah bless. Henry's ear hair is slowly falling out and his shoulders aren't as bad as they were. I was so shocked in the hospital when they passed me a furry beast :)

BookTart · 06/03/2014 09:36

I'm jealous of all babies with hair. Percy is a proper slap head.

It is all a bit nightmarish here. Yesterday she didn't nap at all from 7am to 8pm, and she's taken up vomming as a hobby. The longest she slept last night was an hour (usually she does 2). I'm a bit desperate really. She's feeding more than hourly as well. I walked her to town yesterday and she screamed so much I had to come straight back, carrying her and pushing the buggy with one hand. No idea what to do. Sorry for even more whinging. :(

TobyLerone · 06/03/2014 09:44

If you want some company, book, I'm around most of today and tomorrow. I know it's not practical help, but sometimes having someone else around still helps a bit.

It's hard, isn't it? M has had a long nap in the mornings this week, as she always does, but then nothing more than 15-minute stretches for the rest of the day. And she was very cross and restless all night, which isn't much like her. Is there a growth spurt at 8 weeks? Perhaps that might explain them being extra tiny bastardy unsettled?

Swannykazoo · 06/03/2014 09:46

I've got one with furry ears too! I can't tell you how glad I am to hear its not just me though that's not to say I'm glad you've got pesky babies.
Due a weigh in next week (11lb 12oz 4 weeks ago) but I'm thinking Hugh is getting a bit heavy for my stretchy wrap - its tight when he goes in but over time slowly slides down from nice and high and comfy to a bit lower and back knackering. Does anyone know if I should try something different from hug hold?

TobyLerone · 06/03/2014 09:48

I don't know when we give up hug hold, puggle. M seems quite happy in it still, but she's still small. She does seem scrunched up, but it doesn't seem to bother her.

MrsVDB · 06/03/2014 10:01

book I haven't heard slap head in years ha ha

Sorry it's so tough at the moment

TobyLerone · 06/03/2014 11:32

book, I caved and bought 'Wonder Weeks' for my kindle. It seems there is one at 8 weeks.

Felix90 · 06/03/2014 12:02

Book sorry it's so tough Sad have you taken her to the GP to see if they think there's anything up with her? I think when they don't nap they end up getting over tired and it just makes things worse too.

We have furry ears and back too! It's not as bad as when she first arrived but her back is still lovely and soft haha. Her hair is getting long too Grin

I'm convinced she is going through a growth spurt at the moment even though she's 10 weeks. Yesterday she fed every 2 hours which is really unusual for her. Usually she will just snack through the day and drink a couple of oz every few hours but yesterday she kept guzzling a whole 5oz bottle each time and didn't even spit any back up!! That along with the constant crying for no apparent reason is making me think it's a growth spurt.

Also she's learnt a new skill. If you stick your tongue out at her she will copy you Grin then she does a huge smile like it's the most hilarious thing ever. It's brilliant.

BookTart · 06/03/2014 13:00

I shall cling to the wonder week theory toby :)

felix the gp said she was 'playing me up' three weeks ago Confused I'll go back if Monday's tongue tie snip doesn't change things.

MrsGSR · 06/03/2014 13:04

Aww, Felix that sounds so cute!

Is the wonder weeks book good? I feel so clueless about growth spurts and stages etc

Angelesque · 06/03/2014 13:20

Ahhh felix the tongue thing sounds so cute! Have been trying it with Finn but I think he's too stubborn little to do it yet (he's 3 1/2 weeks). Can't wait till he's doing smiles!

Every time I see "tiny bastard" on here I sing it with a big grin on my face Grin

TarkaTheOtter · 06/03/2014 13:36

book I think our babies are in cahoots as that all sounds very familiar. Alex wouldn't settle for more than 5-10mins in his basket last night and when I gave up and let him sleep on my chest he woke hourly.

Dd was then up for the day at 5.30 sob. Yesterday she tried to get up at 4.50am but I managed to persuade her it was still bedtime. Fortunately dh is back from working abroad for 3 nights tonight so for the next few days I don't have to get up with her at least.

I was talking to someone at a group today and she was telling me how much she was loving being a parent to her children finally - how rested she was, could read a paper and drink tea whilst they play together etc - they are 6 and 4 so only another 4years!!

BuntCadger · 06/03/2014 13:55

Zachary not napping much in day. He settles for 5 min to 15 min then wakes unless I'm holding him or in sling. And if he doesn't wake he gets poked or kissed by his sister who wakes him Sad . But then he finally settled at 10.30pm last night and slept through nappy change and going to bed and woke at 5am for feed. He must of been so tired. I'm guessing he will sleep if he needs it not if I need it

Felix90 · 06/03/2014 14:10

Has anyone thought about contraception yet? I could do with some help! I discussed it with the GP as I was thinking of having the implant. I've always been on the pill but I was rubbish at taking it (hence the baby) so want something I don't really have to think about. The GP recommended the coil and said she thinks it's the best suited contraception for most women, and I like the idea of it but I'm terrified about having it put in!! Has anyone ever had it before and is it awful to have inserted?

TobyLerone · 06/03/2014 14:14

I want to know about the coil too, felix! Got my 9 6 week check next week and was going to ask the dr about it.
