Hi
This is a thread for people due in October with past miscarriage issues, so we don't scare the 'regular' October people and we don't annoy the RM thread with our pregnancy talk...

Thanks girls. I know in my heart I shouldn't really go. It's long haul too so it's not that it's in Spain or France. I want DH to go though as it's one of his best friends (and best men). Just tough really as we always said to this couple that we were waiting to book flights as we didn't know whether it would be just H or both of us or all 3 of us. But after the mc at end of last year we thought there was no way I would be upduffed enough to not be able to fly then we booked the flights, organised a babysitter (grandparents x 2) and told them our plans. They were over the moon that we were both coming. And now potentially I have to say we are not. I know they will understands but still be disappointed. And I will be too as would love to see them get married. I wouldn't be so bothered by this if I hadn't seen them last night. On the plus side I am organising her England hen do. So can make that special for her.

Hi hopeful I don't think that difference in measurent matters as you could just have ovulated a bit later than the 28 day they measure you on? I suppose that depends what fertility treatment you had though. Whatever though, I really don't think 3 days mean much as I have had 3 scans and first one was 5 + 6 (when I should have been 6) then exactly two weeks later it was 8 + 1 which is further than i thought! Then third scan put me bang on what thought based on when I am almost 100% sure I ovulated. So all in all I think it can vary quite a bit in the early weeks and if they said it was normal then it is. So try not to worry (although I know impossible). Hopeful for you on Thursday

Oh and I can't feel my uterus either and I'm about 10 + 5 now!

Millysdream · 23/03/2014 21:44

How do I feel my uterus? I can't seem to find it either

ohthegoats · 23/03/2014 21:57

Very low down - bikini line, in the middle, poke quite deeply with 2 fingers, and it reaches a hard bit. You can sort of follow that along for an inch or so either side of the middle before it goes softer again. Well, I can anyway - I wondered about 3 weeks ago if that was my uterus, and now it's definitely grown in that same place, so I think it must have been. I can only do it in the bath though, so everything else around (by which I mean fat), must have to feel quite soft and floaty.

I've now got to the point where we can tell people, and I REALLY don't want to. I think that will make it feel real, and which point I think I'll do a flat spin of panic. Boyf is talking about announcing to a huge family gathering (his side), next weekend and I'm terrified.

ohthegoats · 23/03/2014 21:58

Oh sorry guys, I posted in the wrong October thread.

Still.. the poking for the uterus info might be handy! Watch your heparin bruises - if you're anything like me, it's all a bit tender down there.

Millysdream · 23/03/2014 22:01

Will give it a go thanks x

HopefulHamster · 23/03/2014 23:03

I'm not trying to encourage everyone to go uterus poking! I was just looking for mine as desperate for signs of pregnancy. It's supposed to come above the pelvic bone at around 12 weeks, which is why I'm looking now as I'm coming up to that this week.

fedupofrainydays · 24/03/2014 06:47

I had a good prod last night and nope, nothing. Just ended up and bit sore and paranoid I've hurt the baby! Going to leave that one for a while...

squizita · 24/03/2014 06:50

I still can't find mine at 15+4 ... Been told how. Causing me a lot of anxiety tbh. Everyone just tells me how! I can't!
Dumb fingers.
DH can find it and thinks its cause I have muscle down there the rest isn't soft I'm struggling. MW found it at 12 weeks so rationally I'm just clumsy, it must be there!

ohthegoats · 24/03/2014 07:36

Ha, I don't think it's a damaging 'prod' - I just did what the doctors have done in the past (they weren't trying to find a uterus, they were trying to feel a coil, so much more detailed than a kiwi fruit sized thing). I did it with flat fingers same as they did.

nearlyreadytopop · 24/03/2014 10:35

I can't find mine either but I don't like poking too hard.
Scan was super yesterday, such a relief.

fedupofrainydays · 24/03/2014 14:07

Just spent a small fortune on clothes I won't fit of this pregnancy works out. Not quite sure why but I would have got them if not upduffed so still kind of pretending I'm not.

Millysdream · 24/03/2014 17:25

Great news nearly
Not found my uterus either and I am over 16w
Belly is feeling harder though.

HopefulHamster · 24/03/2014 18:03

Oh no, I have started a uterus-finding frenzy! Anyway I have decided to be at least 52% confident that I'm still pregnant today, uterus or no uterus :)

I will be wetting myself thursday morning, though!

TaytoCrisp · 24/03/2014 18:35

Great news nearly! A good start to ur week!

Good luck tomorrow hamster.

I had a good scan today too, measuring exactly what I thought in terms of date - 12 + 5 so due on 1st oct. Last mc was 14 weeks so this is all good but would like to get on a few more weeks...

Hope all are well today. Never heard of uterus checking before... might just leave that one for now!

fedupofrainydays · 24/03/2014 20:07

Watching the dispatches prog re miscarriage and stillbirth. I'm sure a lot of it rings true for many of us...

fedupofrainydays · 24/03/2014 20:15

Ugh, it's really horrific - more about how hospitals get rid of miscarried babies. Horrible.

Definitely don't watch it. I didn't watch the end. But I have just read on the news that as a result of the progesterone they have changed what hospitals can / can't do.

I'm feeling very nervous today. Prob not helped by watching that programme. I've a week and three days to get through til next scan. Been feeling crampy today which has scared me. I just have this huge fear of going for the scan and them telling me the baby died just after the last scan I had when all was fine. Don't know why I think this but it's a genuine nightmare.

fedupofrainydays · 24/03/2014 21:07
  • programme not progesterone!!!! Obviously my predicative text means I uses progesterone a lot
squizita · 25/03/2014 08:14

DH wouldn't let me watch it and I'm glad!

JBrd · 25/03/2014 09:12

Trying to catch up, you are a chatty lot!

First of all milly so glad your scan went well! I was getting worried when there was this long silence, as we all know that very often means bad news...

Fedup You most likely wouldn't be able to fly to your friends' wedding anyway, so I think that decision is being taken out of your hands. If you are 34/35 weeks at time of travel, most airlines will not let you fly, even if you bring a letter from your doctor. It's slightly airline-dependent, but for some, they stop you as early as 28 weeks, and if it's long-distance, then I doubt very much that they will let you on - especially if you are then going to be around 36 weeks or over when you fly back! Things like that make airlines very nervous Grin
And I doubt that your travel insurance would be happy either...

Stop prodding for you uteri, ladies! What's all this about? Why do you want to?! I'm confused.... I have no desire whatsoever to find mine, that's the midwife's job!

I started watching that miscarriage programm last night, and when I realised what it was about, I decided I cannot face this - I got to the point where they told about the baby's grave that had been dug on top of another's... So awful. But it's good that they are showing these things!

I have my 12-week scan today at 11.30am... And here I am again, all nervous and anxious again. I just had a scan last week, FFS! Will it ever get easier...?

TaytoCrisp · 25/03/2014 12:11

Good luck today jbrd!
I had a good 12 wk scan yesterday, hope u do too!

JBrd · 25/03/2014 14:41

Had a brilliant 12-week scan and am now on CLoud 9 Smile

The sonographer was lovely, explained everything in great detail, really took her time (and didn't even charge us for the photo). The details that could be seen were amazing, I didn't remember it like that with DS three years ago. At one point we had a fantastic view of the umbilical cord, even the sonographer said that they normally don't see it like this! You could even see it pulsing SmileSmile

My 'new' EDD has been put back to Oct 9.

And the nuchal measurement came to 1.1mm, which is also great. Now I hope that my bloods will put us in a nice low risk category (to be confirmed by the Harmony test!).

I never ever thought I'd come this far, so so happy. I hope I can stay like this for a while...
