Bugs I also had an episode of bright red blood after wiping, my heart stopped. And I have been spotting more or less constantly from week 7, it only just stopped a few days ago. Please try not to panic and despair! You've just had a successful scan, so there is every reason to believe that everything will be OK.
Catty Sorry to hear that you have to make these difficult choices. It is so difficult, and every mc is different.
I've had an ERPC with my first mc, my second one was natural, and with the third I opted for medical management. I had 'good' (if this is the right word) experience with all of them - however, with the medical management, I didn't have to do the actual day in hospital because the pre-medication, which is supposed to prepare your body and soften the cervix, was enough to kick things off, and it happened at home.
If you are in a different hospital this time, I would make sure that your nurse/consultant knows every detail from your previous experience with the ERPC.
I also worried a lot about the medical management, and in the end only chose it because they wouldn't do the ERPC (sac too small), and I just couldn't wait any longer for things to happen naturally. I had a long chat with a friend who had the medical management, and also read a lot on MN, and the consensus was that it's not bad at all, as long as you make sure you have enough painkillers (and ask early enough for them!).
You can have tests done with all 3 options, but if you decide to go natural, you have to be prepared to either fish the sac out of the toilet when you pass it, or start using a sieve every time you go to the loo... Which sounds worse than it is!
I don't know anything about private health care for mc, I'm surprised they would cover it (usually, no pregnancy-related things will be covered). What would be the actual difference when going private? Would you be in your own room etc? Remember that usually, you won't have to stay in hospital, and if they can't do any testing on the private insurance, how would you arrange that? From my experience, NHS usually doesn't want anything to do with private arrangements, and vice versa (sorry if that sounds negative!).
Even if you haven't been to the doctors with your chemical pg, I think you should definitely count this as no.3 - perhaps just say that it was a mc, and see if they want any more details. It should really count, so worth asking about it.
I hope that the staff at St Thomas can reassure you a bit, no one should have to go through a horrible procedure on top of the mc. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, take your time and don't feel that you have to decide there and then.
