Mitchell2 I got my MATB1 form from the midwife at my last 20 week appointment

noseymcposey · 20/02/2014 13:10

I'm expecting to get my MATB1 at my MW appointment next week when I'll be 25 weeks. Can't believe it's that time already!

Had a really positive VBAC appointment with one of the MW's yesterday so feeling a lot better about giving birth! I had a CS last time so get an additional MW appointment that I had yesterday and then a consultants appointment at 36 weeks. We've agreed for me to give birth (or try at least!) in the MLU rather than starting out in high risk which I'm really pleased about. There are no wireless monitors at my hospital so it would mean being strapped to the bed which is what happened last time, and if that's the case I would rather just go straight for the CS. I've asked for intermittent monitoring (according to various sources there's no difference in outcomes between continuous and intermittent monitoring when they are monitoring babies heartbeat for evidence of uterine rupture.) and she said that if I am having intermittent monitoring then I may as well go to the MLU and try and use the pool. So basically, yippee!! Even if it doesn't all go to plan, at least I'll have the opportunity to try!

2blessed · 20/02/2014 15:08

I'm slumping too! Feel absolutely knackered today, so pleased tomorrow is friday! Think I'm going to have an even earlier night tonight than normal.

Hoping to get my Mat B1 form next week and then submitting when I want to start my mat leave. Due on 16th June so currently thinking I'll finish mid-May. Would like some more me time this time around.
Really pleased you're feeling positive after VBAC appt nosey. I had an appt with consultant a few weeks back and we'll meet again after 2 further growth scans - one in march and then May. Got a feeling I'll end up having another CS if my fibroids don't shrink.

Anyone going to the Baby Show in London this weekend? I'm really excited, on the hunt for a double buggy.

Lmf679 · 20/02/2014 16:12

2blessed I'm going on the Saturday, hoping to get some good bits

Expectingtwins1975 · 20/02/2014 17:34

Yep I'm going too - going to go on the Sunday cause want to go to the twin talk .. Also some serious spending obviously :)

Sussex31 · 20/02/2014 19:24

I am going tomorrow :)

Secondsop · 20/02/2014 20:19

Hello, I am late to the party but can I please join? I am due June 4 with my second child (a boy) and I have a 14-month-old boy already. Probably will be induced in May because of high blood pressure. Feeling a bit weird second time round as it's almost like the first baby got all the excitement and anticipation and with this poor little one everyone seems to be "oh, another one".

GillyBillyWilly · 20/02/2014 22:09

Hello new ladies!
Please message me your email address if you'd like to join the PRIVATE facebook group that we have! There's over 50 of us in there now all due in may-June Smile x

I have been told today that if baby moves too much it maybe due to lack of oxygen (i.e. i dont go for walks much) i dont really believe this..what do you think?

CleverOl10 · 20/02/2014 23:17

If that's true, mylittel, then mine needs an oxygen mask right now! I've never heard that but don't like the sound of it as I have a very active baby :(

GinandStripes · 21/02/2014 08:37

Oh god - I'm so sorry to have neglected this thread.

The facebook group is just so much easier to keep up with and there is pictures too.

Hope everyone who's not joined us over there YET is good.

GinandStripes · 21/02/2014 08:42

Mitchell

My midwife gave me mine at my last appointment. When she said my next appointment would be on 25 weeks, I asked if I would get my MATB1 form then and she gave it to me there and then.

Need to fill out all the various forms for work this weekend, so they get them before 25 weeks.

Jessiebaba · 21/02/2014 12:50

I'm expecting to get my MATB1 form at my next appointment (when I'll be 24 weeks). I must've read that somewhere or someone told me that's what will happen...can't remember though!

mylittlel I really hope that's not true as I have a very active baby too! But I do walk a lot (with two dogs it's hard not to!) so that doesn't seem right.

mylittlel · 21/02/2014 15:27

i know it doesn't make any sense to me as well.. went to the dentist today, had a filling and polish and scale, dont remember when was last time i enjoyed it that much)) and its free))

Sussex31 · 21/02/2014 17:05

It has been very quiet on here recently! I am not on Facebook so can't join you over there.

The Baby Show was good today, 4 hours of driving took it out of me though. I didn't end up buying much but it was nice to be able to get some advice.

Mitchell2 · 21/02/2014 19:46

Hi Sussex... I'm still popping in! Interesting about the baby show. Never even considered going to one! What type of things are there?

Liquidambar · 21/02/2014 20:18

I have never been to a baby show either.
I gave most of DS things away - clothes to my cousins' dc, things to friends and charity shops.
This time I will try to get things from friends who had their second babies in December. The 6 month gap sounds very convenient :)

Sussex31 · 22/02/2014 08:54

Most of the big brand names were there, Mothercare, Britax, Mamas and Papas, Bugaboo, etc.

There were lots of smaller stores two, ranging from nursery furniture to clothing to baby skin care.

The prices are designed to seem as if they are really good but the nice chap on the Britax stand told us to always compare as there are often better deals online, which storeholders will usually match if you show them.

It is good if you want to touch and feel things before you buy them - but don't feel pressured to buy them on the day.

Stacks · 23/02/2014 08:02

Morning all. I'm just back from a week 'holiday' visiting family. Unfortunately my DS decided not to sleep for the whole week, so I'm home now and exhausted. went to bed at 8:30 last night :)

I've had a really sore wrist recently, anyone else?

I'll try to catch up on the thread today. Sorry to see such bad news on fb though, thinking of all going through such tough times.

noseymcposey · 23/02/2014 18:15

I do use facebook but prefer to talk ante-natal on here so I hop everyone doesn't completely debunk to facebook!

You must be shattered Stacks!

We've finally got round to doing some decorating. We were meant to be laying laminate floor in our hallway to take up the really skanky old carpet that was there when we moved in a few months ago. Took the carpet up and there's parquet underneath that is in good condition, so thrilled that I don't have to try and lay laminate!

Redcliff · 23/02/2014 19:54

That's great news about the floor ! Feeling shattered today - stayed at my mums for a couple of half term days with 7 yo DS which ended in a trip to Westfield and then took DS and his pal to the local soft play. Think work will be a rest after all that.

Mitchell2 · 23/02/2014 20:29

Envy re the floor.

Had another weekend of not doing much but it went quickly and totally don't feel relaxed! And I don't have any other kids!

24 weeks tomorrow - can't believe how quickly this is all going

Redcliff · 24/02/2014 08:41

It's scary isn't it. My DS has gone back to school after half term and I need to pay child care up to Easter so counting the weeks till then makes me feel that once Easter hits then June is just around the corner .

2blessed · 24/02/2014 09:49

Can't wait to hand in matB1 this week. Think I'm going to start my leave in May.
Lovely chilled weekend, had a few hours to myself yesterday and instead of relaxing I started my spring clear out. Feel really good for it.

chestnutmare · 24/02/2014 11:03

Hey everyone, hope you're all well Smile
I had a nice weekend, bought a few bits for the baby, also for me!

Got my 24 week appointment with my midwife tomorrow, feels like ages since I saw her last, which I guess it was, Christmas eve! So hope that goes OK.

Going to buy our pram tomorrow after work, can't wait! Grin
