Morning ladies, day off today. I def needed it because miss squrimie kicked off last night literally and wouldn't let me get to bloody sleep!

2blessed · 17/02/2014 13:07

I've no idea when I'm going to start maternity leave. I know I better get a move on and put something on paper though... Thinking mid May also. Finally had my risk assessment at work, only 2 months after I notified them of my pregnancy [hmmm]

SicknSpan · 17/02/2014 14:22

2blessed my work were rubbish too. Boss didn't even discuss the risk assessment with me, just sent it off to HR without telling me what he'd written! Sorry yours is pants too. Glad your scan went well :)

I'm so so tired here! Just off for a snooze whilst ds1 and ds2 hopefully don't kill each other, aah half term

2blessed · 17/02/2014 14:26

sicknspan I have been so surprised to hear how many work places are so incompetent in this area and looking after pregnant workers in general. I had a 'not my responsibility' stand off situation here for 8 weeks!
Enjoy your snooze.

Redcliff · 17/02/2014 20:59

How rubbish re your risk assessments - mine happened quickly but then had information on it we hadn't even discussed that he said we had!

jaykay987 · 17/02/2014 22:09

Just out of interest - what did yours cover?
I work for a large company who have policies and processes for everything. I thought I would have a meeting to talk through 'risky' things like work environment, amount of travel, hours etc.

Instead I got a link to the standard work desk assessment we complete online once a year (is your screen too high/low? does your chair raise/lower to ensure your knees can sit at right angles to the floor? etc etc). But I've had nothing further.

I have been surprised at this.

Redcliff · 17/02/2014 23:22

We have a lot of staff who work with high risk people so the check ( which was done on the phone) covered if I worked with any if these people (which I don't ) asked me about how I was feeling ( which was fine ) and travel to and from work ie was there a closer office (which there isn't ) I did ask for a foot rest ( which turned up in 30 mins which was very impressive ) and that was it.

2blessed · 18/02/2014 02:07

jaykay everything you mentioned that you thought should be included was. I was initially fobbed off with the workstation assessment alone but I told them it wasn't fit for purpose.

Jessiebaba · 18/02/2014 12:21

I work for a large company which has policies and procedures for everything as well but still haven't had a risk assessment done (this is due to my manager's incompetence though - she's lovely, just not very good at her job). I did get a new seat but that's because I requested one and wasn't actually to do with me being pregnant!

lindamagoo · 18/02/2014 19:28

Sorry for jumping in girls but I wanted to say a big HELLO to GillyBillyWilly, how are you doing? Hope all is well with you and bump, exciting times ahead SmileSmileSmile

Liquidambar · 18/02/2014 20:10

Saw my consultant this afternoon. He did not add much. Because I went into labour spontaneously at 35 weeks, there is nothing they can do. There is no reason to prevent or treat anything. He said they wouldn't try to stop any preterm labour after 32 weeks... The only advise he gave me was to call the hospital whenever I felt worried, because there is no point to stay at home worrying about things.

Oh well. Fingers crossed this little one will stay inside a little big longer
Hope everyone is well

And thank you for the Health and Safety reminder! I need to complete mine this week as I have some site visits next week Blush

CleverOl10 · 18/02/2014 20:17

Risk assessment? Hmmm....never considered that. Any other teachers on here have one or is it just implicit or assumed no risks?! Nearest I got was an email when a kid had chicken pox!!

GillyBillyWilly · 18/02/2014 20:56

Lindaaaaa! Hope you're well! What's new with you?!Smile
I'm 25 weeks now!

All pregnant women should have risk assessment - I used to work in a collage and we did it for teachers. Even if its a chat about things to think about things (like what if a student gets difficult) it's really useful .

MarlenaGru · 18/02/2014 21:34

I have had nothing at work at all. HR haven't contacted me at all since I told them I was pregnant. Not expecting anything either. My job is physically pretty easy though so I am sure my desk is fine. My bottom is not coping with 8 hours a r my desk though!

RedCountryRoads · 18/02/2014 21:40

I've not had a risk assessment either. I told work 14 weeks ago.......hhmmmmm. Can be lifting, twisting, running up and downstairs. I've just been sensible since I found out.

CleverOl10 · 18/02/2014 21:44

Must ask around at work then because never had risk assessment mentioned to me this or last time. Am starting to get very achy legs and groin as stand to teach all day but not really got much option. Am trying to minimise it and sitting down for the older kids who don't need 'patrolling'!

Mitchell2 · 18/02/2014 22:05

No risk assessment here but a desk jobber also.

lindamagoo · 18/02/2014 23:03

Gilly that's fab news, I'm so excited for you and even more excited that your having a surprise baby, don't know many people who don't find out the sex til the big day Smile How's your pregnancy been? Hope your keeping well Smile I've just came off the pill AGAIN, lol, going to give it another go so fingers crossed I won't wait too long xxx

Liquidambar · 19/02/2014 09:10

I work at an university and 95% of my job is desk based. I have the odd conference, training course or site visit. However, the risk assessment is very comprehensive and it mentions moving around, having regular breaks, lumbar support, sufficient space to move at the workstation, fatigue, more frequent visits to the toilet "... and this must be taken into consideration with respect to the work pattern, access to toilets, etc. " Grin

icklekid · 19/02/2014 17:52

I'm a primary school teacher and our local authority had a template which office manager filled in with me. Can email if you dm me!

Poetschild · 19/02/2014 19:21

Same here, my boss did one as soon as I told her. Probably needs to be updated soon as the tiny chairs are becoming even less comfortable!

Redheadgal · 20/02/2014 09:49

Hello ladies, mind if I join you? Am 26 weeks today (due 29 May, although fully expecting this one to be a June baby). DC2 so bump emerged pretty early and already feeling pretty uncomfortable.

Mitchell2 · 20/02/2014 10:15

Welcome redhedgal! 23 weeks and my bump is starting to grow and now feeling a bit uncomfortable. We also have a private facebook group (no-one else can see it) if you want to PM GillyBillyWilly she can send you and invite - I am absolutely hopeless so wont be able to figure out how to do it!

How is everyone feeling today - i have gone into a super tired slump lately and can hardly function some days - hope it passes.

Also, who has had their MATB1 forms? Still have not got mine - and wondering when I would actually get it?

Redcliff · 20/02/2014 10:36

Hello from one red to another. I am not feeling to bad although energy levels up and down . Felt fine yesterday but have couple of days holiday today and tomorrow and just want to slump.
