dressedupnowheretogo · 03/08/2006 14:59

BigHotMama · 03/08/2006 15:15

Yeah right Booby we believe ya!

Hope it works for you Eeny! Also get Sal to give your back a nice massage or a tickle - I fall asleep if my Dh tickles my back - Bliss!

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 15:18

Is being really stupid a sign of pre-labour? I can't seem to concentrate on anything and I can't stop eating..

Congrats on all the new babies! Amazing that it is all coming to an end at last.

What is the latest thinking about Vitamin K? Not sure if I should go for this or not.

dressedupnowheretogo · 03/08/2006 15:25

i thought every babt had to have it but can be by drops or needle

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 15:29

I was told that it was optional. There seemed to be a big Leukemia scare about it a few years back but I think that has been discredited now.

My midwife asked me if I wanted it the other day but I wasn't sure what to say.

melsy · 03/08/2006 15:33

still here !! getting right frustrated , theres no way these are just BH's.

Hows your shoulder eeny ? Is that whats stopping a good sleep??

Im sooooo stir crazy , you are right I shoud get out , my mum said thats what happened with me , she went out and came home , taking her make up off and BAM!!! gonna may be meet my sis later for cake and a shandy in cafe rouge or somewere.

BigHotMama · 03/08/2006 15:37

I've put it on birthplan for my baby to have it via injection! Also thought every baby had to have it one way or another due to lack of vitamin K once born?

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 15:47

Have just been reading:

www.radmid.demon.co.uk/vitk.htm

How confusing... I think I will try to keep looking for more info on this.

freddysays · 03/08/2006 15:48

Hey all, so many women so much frustration...it kinds of makes me feel human too. I Also had rumblings last night. Had really uncomfortable period pains and I was due yesterday so I though here goes...even had a go on the ball. Then felt tired so as it wasnt too sore got back into bed and propped myself up, woke up at am nothing..Turned out to be wind from the curry I had that night....

Now officially overdue.

TOok myself off for a hair cut to "take my mind off it" and to force myself into walking home only to be confronted with the usual shock and horror from teenager stick hairdressers who appeared completely dumbfounded by the size of my belly.

THey were really close to gettin a clumping but actually I am past caring now..just want him to come out nice and calmly and really could do without the whole intervention malarky...

How do you chill out about it all when theres is no escape..

Oh to have a crystal ball!!!

Good luck everyone x x

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 15:49

melsy a walk and meeting someone sounnds like a good idea.

walking is meant to be good for early labour and your sis is bound to cheer you up.

hang in there!

dressedupnowheretogo · 03/08/2006 15:52

ooooh freddy they wer so rude must say tho as a hairdresser cant think why people want it doing so late on as clients never relax i always remeber thinking if she goes into labour i'll faint

last summer i did a set of hair extensions on someone over dure by 4 days i was crapping myself the whole time [6hrs] in case she went into labour

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 15:52

freddysays: you could try reflexology? or shagging?

god it's been ages since i had a decent.... sorry tmi..

freddysays · 03/08/2006 15:55

tried the reflexology.....god my other half will be pleased, he's getting some more action. WOW!

Still, we need to make the most of it cos when this 9lb comes out thats the last thing that gonna be on my mind....

Better give him a call eh x x

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 16:07

Go for it!!!

Semen has prostaglandins which encourage labour, some say that oral digestion is good also.... but don't tell your man that if you are not in the mood!

Also bouncy exercise, nipple stimulation but only one nipple at a time.

Also holding a newborn baby, raspberry tea, ok I have run out now!

I heard that you usually can't have sex for 6+ weeks after the baby is born - is this true?

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 16:16

was reading this on ways to start labour:

natural induction methods

YellowFeathers · 03/08/2006 16:17

Hi everyone.
I told Melsy on msn that I was off to do stuff but just noticed dh has nodded off on the sofa so thought I'd pop in

Melsy, Good idea about getting out if you can be bothered. I don't fancy going anywhere atm but Cafe Rouge would be a big tempter!

NKK, Vit K is optional but I think its mostly done orally now rather than injection. I have put on my birth plan for the baby to have it orally and I have mentioned on here before thats because I think baby has so many jabs in the first few weeks anyway, if this one can be avoided, why not?

Eeny, I'm with you on the sleeping. Really ticking me off. I'm waking 3/4 times a night to pee and then wide awake come 5/6am so at lunch I'm totally shattered. Hot milky drinks are good and getting engrossed in a book or magazine helps.

Olivo, I've also been getting the itching and where its been bad, some stretch marks have appeared Good news about the nursery!

Well 10 days to go now. I could with that crystal ball after you've used it FS!
Would really like it if some random person just approached me and told me when this baby is coming!!!!
I hate this last waiting bit. Feel like I should be doing something constructive but I'm lacking that bit of motivation to do it!

freddysays · 03/08/2006 16:19

i think i will pass on the oral.....thanks but i bet it was a man who came up with that helpful hint, prob my man HA HA

I think they advise to avoid most "activities" until after your 6week check to make sure your abdominals are healing well or something.

I remember actually feeling a little horny about 2 weeks after and we improvised!!! Its just that after a big baby's head has passed through you can imagine being a bit tender so for some time i think it may be off the cards...so make the most of it now for more reasons than one

Ps. I am on the raspberry leaf capsules, clary sage batht his morning I am sitting on a bouncy ball as I type and if my nipples were not too tender I would give them a wee tweak x x

YellowFeathers · 03/08/2006 16:22

I tried reflexology with dd and it worked. Only used 2 techniques which I tried to describe to Melsy earlier.
I was 3 days overdue and we started doing them in the afternoon for 15/20 mins then just before I went to sleep which was about 10pm.

Just past midnight I woke up, my forewaters had gone, went straight to the loo where I had a show, then bad sickness and diorreah, fell asleep about 3/4am and then woke and got up about 7:30am when contractions started immediatly. Had dd 8:30pm that evening!

Pineapple, sex, hot spicy foods, walks, bouncing/rocking, walking up and down stairs.
Can't think of anymore atm

sarahlou1uk · 03/08/2006 16:29

Afternoon everyone. Re vitamin K - not sure of procedure now but 3 years ago ds had his by injection.

I haven't abandoned mumsnet - I like to keep up with what's happening with others. I have been drinking raspberry leaf tea by the pint but still no niggles.

Eeny - I'm with you re sleep (or lack of it). I get comfy for 10 mins on my side and then I have to turn because my hip starts to really hurt. I have ended up sleeping half sat up using a v pillow. This is the only way I can get some sleep.

Dh took ds out this morning so that I could have a lie in. Me being me, couldn't lie in past 9.15am so I ended up hoovering, dusting and generally tidying downstairs, as well as putting 3 loads of washing in washer! Of course, when they came back and asked if I had a nice lie in I said yes! (my lies will catch up with me!!) Hopefully, my surge of energy might encourage things along a bit. I know I'm not at my due date yet (16th) but with the weather about to get scorching again, I'm keen to get dd out so that I can move comfortably and maybe, get comfy in bed once again (before I have to get up for the 1am feeds and changing of course!)

Anyway, good idea of Sal's to include if you are a first timer or an old hand on the stats list. Are you volunteering to start this off then Sal?

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 16:30

Well at least having sex, eating pineapple and curry is fun!

I just read that wearing really nice knickers is bound to make your waters break

YellowFeathers · 03/08/2006 16:32

lol

noodlekitkat · 03/08/2006 16:34

"the weather about to get scorching again" ????????

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YellowFeathers · 03/08/2006 16:35

I wish it would just rain and be cold until this baby comes out and then it can be red hot again
Get lots of nice walks with the pushchair in before winter!

eenywifemum · 03/08/2006 16:37

I think Sal would be happy to do the list! everyone would need to do a post with their stats like how many children, DDs, DSs etc It would be fun!

He is busy at work now but I'm sure he could do it sometime in the next day or so! Then it could be added to by anyone.

Thanks everyone for sharing your sleep problems with me too! Sarahlou you've made me feel so lazy though I havent done any housework in ages!! Think I will after I do this post to make myself feel better

Melsy my shoulder is better, thank you! I had a hot water bottle on it all night. I worked out what it is too! Since I have just learned to knit, I am hunching my left should up to hold the needles. Booby didnt you say that might be it?? Cant remember now. So last night when I was knitting I was trying to make an effort to keep my shoulders relaxed and I had heat on it the whole time. I know I probably sounded like a big wimp complaining that much over shoulder pain but it was pretty awful.

Yellow I will be trying reflexology!! and everything else mentioned!!

we were going to give Alex the vit K orally but decided against it - instead he will have it by injection. It is a quick, one off pain and a lot of times when they take it orally (over 3 doses in 3 weeks) they throw some of it up anyway. Sorry if someone already said that!
