Thanks Weejo. Feeling a bit better. Decided a sofa day with the cat was a good idea today Wink . Hope you have a good day too.

Feelingfatty · 16/01/2014 10:30

Do you know your scan date yet crazy lady? If it was me I would tell people you really need to to function, close friend or boss but then make big announcement after scan as people feel they can be more excited for you and you'll enjoy their reaction more Smile but everyone's different so it's really up to you!! hope you enjoy your cat day! Very jealous of first pregnancies now! Didn't realise how much I should enjoy the nausea with dd as didn't know how worse nausea would feel whilst looking after a toddler Grin

HungryHorace · 16/01/2014 10:43

I'm missing the reassurance of constant nausea, Fatty! I do feel a bit wonky every now and then, but not very sick. That's partly why I'm worrying. Still having utterly bizarre dreams and night sweats, so I suppose they're reassuring!

Hope you feel better after your cat day today, crazylady. :-)

PinaColadas · 16/01/2014 10:48

Morning crazylady2013 I was the same, felt rubbish at work so decided to tell my collegues the news and it's like a massive weight was lifted. It was so hard to feel terrible at work and have to pretend I was fine, now I can gip all I want.

I figured they all found out anyway after my MMC because I was off sick, and a lot of them were a great support too, so why keep it from them? It's definately personal choice, but for me it made it a lot easier.

crazylady2013 · 16/01/2014 11:03

Thanks for the advice Feeling and Pina. My scan is on the 6th Feb so not too far away but it will feel like ages if I carry on like this Wink . I'm sure everyone at work will be supportive no matter what happens. It is just my mind making it a bigger issue than it really is I'm sure Wink .

Feelingfatty · 16/01/2014 11:15

Mine is nowhere near as bad as it was but still feel pregnant iyswim? Tired, sicky, off food, can't even be bothered to do my mascara...I kid you not! Wink

sillymeagain · 16/01/2014 11:26

Grrr....just had my booking appt which went fine and the midwife was fine (a bit over efficient but nice enough) didn't go on at me about my weight BUT I lost count of the amount of times I heard the words "because your bmi is above 35" it really did start to grate! Yes I know it is my fault and I need to do something about it but grrr!

She also said I am only "allowed" to put on 9lb throughout the pregnancy. ..considering I had already shaved a couple of lbs of the figure I gave I have very little "growing room" left. ..oops!

Trying to remain upbeat and not get upset by it but struggling a little. Especially as the nausea is dictating what I eat at the moment and that's not healthy stuff! Just hoping when that subsides I can be a bit healthier!

2beornot · 16/01/2014 11:27

Just had booking appointment with midwife. Usual filling in of lots of forms, blood pressure, urine test and blood tests. There was a tiny bit of glucose in my urine so I'm going to cut down on sugary stuff, just in case. What food is surprisingly high in sugar (obviously I can cut out the obvious but don't want to ruin it with hidden stuff).

PinaColadas · 16/01/2014 11:27

I thought I was home and dry last week when the sickness (and actually the tiredness) started to dry up a bit, then all of a sudden it's come back with a vengeance! I've still not actually been sick but just feel nauseous all the time (and STARVING) really just want to be in bed today (surrounded by carbs to nibble on)

2beornot · 16/01/2014 11:32

Silly - me too. She didn't go on about it though. She did say that they wouldn't accept me in the midwife led unit, but in our hospital it's literally just upstairs from the consultant led unit. And she did say that most of the time the consultants don't even need to come into the room. We also spoke about home birthing too. I'm going to focus on eating healthily and just go with the flow.

Feelingfatty · 16/01/2014 11:48

Sorry you've had rough booking ins, hopefully now they won't go on about it! I find it weird you can't go on a midwife led unit but could give birth at home...strange! Oh well as long as you are baby baby are safe doesn't matter where you have them. We didn't have a midwife unit where I used to live so have birth to dd in hospital and all was fine and perfectly lovely.

My midwife was very nice about bmi when I booked in she looked at figures id written down and wouldn't believe me it made me out at overwight (26) said I must be wrong and could only be 24-25 max, even went off to get her little tool, I knew I was right but bless her for being so nice! She said bmi was fine and healthy for me so that's okay.

Feelingfatty · 16/01/2014 11:50

Also I have no idea about hidden sugars...Google??

2beornot · 16/01/2014 12:01

Feeling - I think it's just they can't stop me having a home birth but they can refuse to accept me at the MLU iyswim. Part of me wonders if I keep going on about a HB maybe they'll compromise!! Tbh it's nonsense really - yes I'm obese but otherwise fit & healthy.

HungryHorace · 16/01/2014 12:03

I think some fruits are quite high in sugars. Maybe some bread?

Fatty, I mostly feel a bit odd. Which is pregnancy, I suppose. And bloody exhausted. I've no energy for anything above the bare minimum and get hungry really quickly after a meal!

I gag when brushing my teeth but thankfully am not sick. And I'm sure I can feel movement, but I did last time too. :-)

mssleepyhead · 16/01/2014 12:40

Thank you all for sharing your experiences today too - you've made me feel a lot better. I'm struggling a lot today. It's ok when the kids are around as I go into "teacher mode" but as soon as I'm on my own I'm a bit of a wreck again. Trying to tell myself I need to be happy I feel like that because it means something GOOD! But it's hard. Roll on second trimester!

mssleepyhead · 16/01/2014 12:42

Ps. 2be - fruit juices and cordials are a killer. Also apparently watery fruits like oranges are better than things like bananas. Watch cereals and smoothies too, even the healthy ones can be bad.

HungryHorace · 16/01/2014 12:48

I think low fat stuff can be high in sugars too, come to think about it.

Ruggle · 16/01/2014 12:53

Help! I was just walking along minding my own business and suddenly got a very sharp stab pain in the middle of my belly! Just one. Scared the hell out of me. What could it be??

HungryHorace · 16/01/2014 12:57

Round ligament pain probably, Ruggle.

Ruggle · 16/01/2014 13:01

Thanks Horace...I did read though that it's usually on either side. This was bang in the middle, and so out of the blue. Literally like I'd been stabbed! Lasted a second or two, and then gone, but I do feel some oddness going on in there just now.

LH1981 · 16/01/2014 13:02

Hi Ladies,

Ruggle, unless it carries on, I wouldn't worry. With all the stretching, movement and hormones flying around it could be anything!

Well, looks like my visit to this thread has been brief...just had my dating scan and it looks like I'm on the wrong thread. I wasn't sure of my dates because my last period was 11th November so I could have gotten pregnant in Nov or in the next cycle and just missed a period. Which looks like the case.
Worried though, as the doc couldn't see anything on the scan! But she said that's normal if it's too early (CB digi put me at 1-2 weeks on Tuesday).
Other reasons would be ectopic or mc, but she ruled out ectopic and said as I've not had any bleeding then she thinks all is ok.

But just anxious as was hoping I was further along and coming out of the 'danger danger' zone. Keeping everything tightly crossed!

I'll jump off this thread - but good luck everyone, hope you all have lovely healthy pregnancies and babies! xxx

lucyfluff · 16/01/2014 13:06

I had three very quick labours, first five hours with g&a/pethidine, second one hour with g&a, and third one and half hours with g&a Smile I love giving birth even more than pregnancy...am I really sad?!

All three little monkeys were overdue though so I wouldnt be suprised if this is a september baby!!!!

lucyfluff · 16/01/2014 13:08

LH - sad to see you leaving Sad are they going to re scan you?? good luck in the rest of your pregnancy x

HungryHorace · 16/01/2014 13:13

Ah, LH, they wouldn't see anything at 4 weeks' pregnant, I don't think. It is VERY early for a scan.

Good luck with your September baby. :-)

Ruffle, the fact it was that short suggests a stretching / pulling pain. As LH said, if it carries on and is persistent, get it checked out.

I keep sneezing and causing myself pain. It's not good, is it?!
