Good luck curly Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 16/12/2013 14:38

Hi curly! Let's hope some dilating is going on!
I was only able to get to 1/1.5cm with the prostin with dd. They found a midwife with very slender fingers who managed to get the hook in and break my waters. Way TMI sorry!

I've got the constant period pains too quacko, not sure if I want it to turn into anything or not. Think I'd quite like to get Christmas out the way first now that I'm all ready for it. I'm 36 weeks today though and I have the advantage of knowing that they'll induce me at 38 weeks anyway so not long to wait.

curlywurlyllass · 16/12/2013 14:38

and to give you all a laugh......

Before i was admitted last week i was planning to jump the boyfriend.

So Monday morning i got the veet and a mirror out, might have left it on a few mins too long. I was petrified they would examine my bits on admission and discover my sore bikini line :(

Got BF to bring me in some sudocrem and thankfully it healed before they checked babys position.

I was so stressed about what excuse i would use to explain the red welts
Blush

TarkaTheOtter · 16/12/2013 14:40

Haha bet they've seen it all before though!
I am team hairy Grin

fryingpantoface · 16/12/2013 14:47

Good luck Curly!

i have a touch of heartburn now, but nowhere near as much as before. I think they baby has dropped totally, but I've such a small torso that it doesn't make much of a difference bump wise.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/12/2013 14:52

curly good to hear from you - hope the prostin/water breaking works, we're all thinking of you! Soon you will get to meet your baby - how amazing!

BandontheFun · 16/12/2013 15:25

Gosh, so much to catch up, must start checking in more often, baby's on the way already.....starting to feel really real!

Curly good luck, hope you get to meet your baby soon and everything goes well.

I'm 37 weeks today and not feeling any different so not sure the baby's in any sort of rush. Bump is still pretty high.

Hope everyone else is feeling better and the sickness, soreness and various ailments sod off! :)

Sultanajo · 16/12/2013 15:49

curly arghhhh! Hope u bounce baby curly out! Thinking of you! Loving the veet story! Hilarious!

extracrunchy · 16/12/2013 15:52

Ooh thinking of you Curly and sending dilatey thoughts!!

fryingpantoface · 16/12/2013 16:21

curly that's made me chuckle now for ages! I'll deffo stay away from the Veet

GummiBear74 · 16/12/2013 16:34

angel, how about this? I haven't read it personally, but it looks great.

Hi curly, hope the bouncing works out for you!

Angelesque · 16/12/2013 16:46

Gummi that's the exact one I was just looking at! It looks awesome doesn't it? I think I'll order it tonight... think it will make DH feel much better. He's gone into a slightly panicked nesting mode all of a sudden - cleaning out cupboards, building baby furniture...

Sultanajo · 16/12/2013 16:56

Aw bless your DH Angel!

I just had a bit of a ruthless clear out and clean, but can barely move now so had to stop. Must remember DH has been working all day and must not pounce on him to take over where I have left off...!

quackojuliet · 16/12/2013 16:56

aww angel your dh sounds lovely. mine is keen to feel prepared but not the book reading type. he will probably turn to youtube videos when time to change a nappy !

good luck curly - your baby is coming very soon, how exciting! it feels like we've waited so long and almost there now

well i went to the shopping centre and it was hell as expected. i think the rage is coming on. all these people knocking into me and then none of the shops had any baby clothes in 0-3 so rendered the trip a bit pointless. although i did exchange nursing bras that were the wrong size, get fitted again and exchange an impractical baby gift for some vests. so not all wasted.

that is the last time i venture anywhere with crowds while pregnant. just saying.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/12/2013 17:08

quacko sorry the trip was all you expected - I am doing all my Christmas shopping online, as the rage when I am out and about is all consuming. I simply cannot believe the shameless rudeness of people when they see a pregnant woman - rushing to get out in front of her, pushing past, bashing into the belly etc. It makes me stabby and when I'm stabby, I start saying rude things, which will one day get me in trouble. Grin

enormouse · 16/12/2013 17:10

Aaw angel. It's great that he's so excited. I've ended up with Mr 'cynical, I've done it once before therefore I know everything'. I hate to admit this but he is better at changing a nappy than me. Ds even takes nappies off me to give to daddy whenever he's around.

All the same I've ordered a copy of that book (thanks gummi) so he can have a look at it.

curly Grin that's so funny. Hope you're doing ok. Dilatey thoughts, as extra said

quacko I feel your pain. I have to go in on Thursday to see my lecturer and pick up some last minute Christmas bits which I can't internet. You didn't go into primark did you? I refuse to go in there for most of december.

Need to get off my bum and stick dinner on. I've got a little work done but mostly thanks to ds going to see his granny with dp. And I'm feeling a bit calmer/less hormonally challenged thank God. Xmas Smile.

AnotherStitchInTime · 16/12/2013 17:40

No curly unfortunately not only tv on labour ward here. Luckily DH has put some stuff on my tablet for me. Hope things get going for you soon. Will they not try syntocin drip before c section then?

GummiBear74 · 16/12/2013 17:40

Can't believe I spent hours in John Lewis, nearly finished all my shopping and didn't get the rage. There were people in there and everything!

angel, I would love to get that book for DH, but he's more like quacko's and wouldn't bother reading it. He thinks he already knows everything, so wouldn't do YouTube either. He'll just make it up as he goes along, but I'm sure we'll be ok!

qumquat · 16/12/2013 18:49

Hello, haven't posted since probably first trimester but still lurk occasionally. I can highly recommend Commando Dad. Dp loves it, and I've found it really useful as well. The best book of any I've read!

Toothfairy78 · 16/12/2013 19:26

Evening ladies,

I've just had my first official day on mat leave! Have spent most of it asleep which was much needed due to stinking cold which was refusing to budge. Am glad that my sense of smell is returning And I can taste food again!

Had a soak in the bath and tried out my epilators (silk epil v bikini perfect) on the lady garden, to see which worked best in the bath. The bikini perfect won the trials! I did however wuss out on the more intimate area(plus not enough space, hands to hold mirror, skin, device) so that just got trimmed. Feeling much less like the hairy yeti monster of the bump jungle. Much more presentable now!

MrsV sorry hear about your car.

Curly good luck to you and also to those of you doing the epo thing!

humpty boooo to thoughtless people not catering for preggo ladies especially when that lady is helping at your wedding! And a great big 2 middle fingers up at people making comments about your size. I mean really, how fucking rude is that?!

OP posts:
MrsGSR · 16/12/2013 19:46

I'm another one that's just trimming for now. I figure being hairy will be the least of my worries in labour!

Hope everything goes ok curly!

I bought DH the 'Blokes guide to babies' but he hasn't read it yet! It was very cheap on amazon so I'm not too annoyed. I keep quizzing him on things, I'll randomly turn to him in Asda and ask what temperature where baby sleeps should be etc. He prefers to learn that way!

Toothfairy78 · 16/12/2013 20:05

Here's a second vote for commando dad. Got it as a pressie for DH and he's read the whole thing unprompted. Something about baby stuff will come up and he'll mention something he read in commando dad!

DH is very much a verbal learner. He loves reading.

They should do learning style quizzes on antenatal courses so people can choose, books, videos, apps according to their learning style.

I'm walking around Tesco having contractions every 15 mins. Here's hoping

extracrunchy · 16/12/2013 20:24

Omg frying!!!!!

Sultanajo · 16/12/2013 20:36

Ekkk frying! Fingers and toes crossed for you!!!

Feeling rage tonight for no real reason! Everything is just grating on me and pissing me off! Nothing a good nights sleep wouldn't fix I am sure....shame that's unlikely to happen....
