Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amibambini · 16/12/2013 11:19

Hey y'all.

It's been a while since I checked in, just been having a lazy morning with a cup of tea, mince pie and catching up on this thread in bed.
37 weeks yesterday! Feeling good, had a lovely long walk through Hampstead Heath yesterday followed by long Christmas lunch with friends in a pub. We do it every year, last year there were no babies, this year there were 3, plus my bump.. Changing times.

But I have to admit to something quite awful. Maybe it's because I was off the booze so my tolerance levels have dropped considerably.. But I am finding myself quite bored of endless baby talk. At yesterday's dinner I was so relieved to have a conversation with someone about something other than babies.

Anyhow, back to the baby chat.

So what is an EPO?

Haven't packed bag yet, might start that today. Plan for today is to first light the fire, crank up radio 6, finish grouting kitchen tiles, get bag packed.. Maybe start on curtains. Baby better not come too soon, we still have too much stuff to do! Please come after Christmas little one!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/12/2013 11:24

MrsRA sorry you've had growth worries, but it sounds as if things are picking up? How exciting that you have a CS date! You will be having your baby the day before I am due!

frying you do make me laugh - sorry things are still a bit wet pants but keep on keeping on, as they say.

ami hello! Nice to see you again.

extracrunchy · 16/12/2013 11:36

Hi again Ami!

So for anyone who's due a bit earlier and interested in getting things started, if you have the energy (and no SPD) apparently this works... And good for a laugh either way!

Naturegirl82 · 16/12/2013 11:40

Oh my god extra that made me laugh! I have visions of everyone trying that now! Grin

BookTart · 16/12/2013 11:41

Waxing?! I don't think they'd know where to start now, it is like I'm wearing a pair of brown shorts Blush. DH has been instructed that the deforestation will be his job, but I fear it'll put him off for life!

My mum wants to go shopping today. It is raining and I'm 37 weeks pregnant. I might kill her.

Hope everyone is feeling better today. Any news from curly yet?

Amibambini · 16/12/2013 11:55

Hello back humptidumpty & extra crunchy!

enjoyingscience · 16/12/2013 11:57

just popping in to see if there are any new babies! FX curly is getting on ok.

Hi Ami, your day sounds fab. I've got 6music through headphones at work - not quite the same thing, but does stop people from talking to me.

EPO is evening primrose oil, in this context, shoved up the foof to help ripen the cervix. Or at least make it smell like flowers, anyway.

enjoyingscience · 16/12/2013 11:59

Oh and waxing is a no go for me, but ealier attmpts at using a trimmer/electric razor thing proved dangerous.

I think I'm just going to have to live with looking like a yeti. Hopefully baby can climb out through the undergrowth ok ok D-day Grin

enormouse · 16/12/2013 12:18

Eeek waxing, I'm going hairy and proud for now. Apart from my eyebrows, which I'm getting threaded this week. But that's only because I'd like 2, instead of the one large unibrow.

Had an awful nights sleep, pain in my hips and fanjo kept me up and am getting slightly stressed over my ucas personal statement. It's drafted but I need to finish and edit it. But I'm just so bloody tired.

I also broke my favourite mug today (through being a large clumsy oaf), it was a lovely rob ryan papercut print mug and was a present. Dp says he'll replace it but I'm still gutted over it. Ds is going loopy stuck indoors and we need to stay in and wait for the post.

Amibambini · 16/12/2013 12:24

Enjoyingscience (cool name, what kind of science?) - evening primrose oil, well I've never heard that one before. Thanks for the explanation.

I haven't actually seen my bush for a while due to belly in the way and no full length mirror at home. I have a feeling it's fairly substantial, if my yeti pits are anything to go by.

Boyfriend has agreed to go at it with his beard trimmers.

enormouse · 16/12/2013 12:25

Also had a bit of a blub when I pulled out some of DSs new born clothes to wash for number 2. He's not going to be my weeny baby anymore. And I had forgotten how tiny he was. Does anyone else feel like this over their current little baby not being their little baby anymore?

Felix90 · 16/12/2013 12:27

Enjoying my OH just text me all excited because they read his text out on 6music whilst he was listening at work haha!

AnotherStitchInTime · 16/12/2013 12:36

Yep me enormouse, I was still breastfeeding dd2 in september. She is suddenly becoming a little girl, talking in sentences and her face is changing. Feel like I have missed out on it all as I have been in the hospital and she has undergone this massive transformation while I have been gone.

Welcome back ami a fire sounds lovely for this time of year. 37 weeks not long to go.

Sorry to hear of growth concerns with baby mrsra, glad you have a date. I found getting my date a relief.

sultana how annoying about the card.

Some brave ladies here waxing still. My legs could now make a rug on their own and the lady garden well ... Can't even get DH to sort it out as he always has the kids when he visits. Knew I should have pruned whilst I was home last week.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 16/12/2013 12:49

I am also not waxing - never had it done before, and not starting now.
A bit of a trim - VERY gingerly - with the nail scissors, has kept me in check up until now.

curly hope all is okay with you.

quackojuliet · 16/12/2013 13:14

I'm with humpty, no waxing for me! I guess I'm lucky as I'm fair (although hairy) and I don't give a toss tbh.

I woke up with period pains today, fairly constant. As I haven't noticed many bh's maybe this is the way they feel for me? Or could be baby dropping - I've noticed my ribcage has gone down - took my bra down a back size - and feel a lot of pressure over my bum area when walking!

Going into shopping centre today to exchange some baby items and pick up nursing bra and a few more baby clothes. Not really looking forward to the crowds and xmas blah. But exchanges need to be done or ill lose the dosh. I think I'm being dramatic.

Cafe stop every 5 mins in order I think!

Naturegirl82 · 16/12/2013 13:16

Looks like just me with the waxing at the moment then, either I'm very brave or stupid! To be fair though I have PCOS so my bikini line would reach my knees if I didn't keep it in check. Makes me feel a little bit more lady like Smile

Mythreeknights · 16/12/2013 13:22

My heartburn has gone - must be about 4 days now that I've had cervical twinges and wierd pains, and in return, no heartburn!! Yippee, baby must have dropped a little (am now 35+4)

I'm another non-waxer. Did it once just ahead of my wedding and the b1tch shredded me to bits and then told me to wear tight underwear and bathe in HOT water. Turns out you're supposed to wear loose underwear and not bathe in hot water...I spent my honeymoon applying a lot of aloe vera and cursing her (she had told me she was going through a divorce...could she have done it on purpose out of bitterness? Quite possibly but it totally put me off doing it again). That was at Stobo Castle Spa by the way - avoid avoid avoid.

GummiBear74 · 16/12/2013 13:54

Love the yoga vid, extra. There's no way I'll be doing that final squat without another person present - my knees don't work anymore and I'd be stuck forever! In fact, I want that woman from YouTube to come round and take me through it personally, she's fab!

enjoying, not sure that the benefits of having a cervix that smells of flowers are immediately apparent, so I'll be giving the epo a miss a well Confused

I'm in the hairy, wild woman non-waxing camp. I'm going to have a go at the nail scissors & mirror approach and see if DH will tackle the legs. No excuse for the state of my pits, will try to remember to sort them tomorrow.

First day of mat leave proper and determined to get all or most of Christmas shopping done by end of day. Waiting for one delivery, then braving john Lewis. Nice being at home, filled bird feeder in garden just before lunch and soooo many birds have been already, including a woodpecker and a bullfinch. I could get used to this staying at home business Grin

Hope everyone suffering and/or in hospital is ok. Quite excited that there's no news from curly, we could have our first December baby at any time!

Angelesque · 16/12/2013 14:15

Fx for Curly - desperate to hear news of little one!

No waxing for me either... have been keeping on top of leg shaving but not lady garden :) need to tackle it (scissors I think) next time DH is out :)

Has anyone come across any good books for DHs/DPs? DH has started to worry that he has no idea what to do once baby arrives and he's keen to get a book/books to help him. He's had a look through my "Ask a Midwife" book, but I'd love to get him something specifically for dads maybe as a Christmas present... any recos?

curlywurlyllass · 16/12/2013 14:27
